Rydal Keener x f!reader
Words: 1.9k; part of the Oxford Comma series but can be read alone I guess
Warnings: no smut but mature themes-ish, mentions of sex and intimacy, fluff, soft Rydal, bickering, rich people shit, a glance at their relationship over a few months
“No, you’re not allowed to smile at me like that.”
“Wha– I wasn’t smiling like anything!” he countered.
“What, what is it? What are you hiding, you’ve got that look on your face when you’re hiding something from me,” you threw the sweater of his that you were holding, into his suitcase where you were currently packing his things for winter break.
You had spent the last few weeks of spending almost every day together, learning each other in your own way, asking the deep cutting questions first and following up with asking what his favourite colour was. Rydal was gentle when he asked you about where you grew up, his petty comment all that time ago about your hometown at the forefront of his mind. You told him everything there was to know as you lay on top of his chest, tracing your finger in mindless circles on his skin while avoiding eye contact. You had asked him what he wanted to do with his life. He didn’t have a straight answer.
“Not become my father,” he had muttered.
“What does that mean?”
He never did answer your question now that you thought about it. You were brought back to the present when he got up from his place where he was lounging on the bed like some antiquated forgotten prince in his prime. He sure looked the part, was bred into the role. Moulded for it really. The way his hair flopped into his eyes was surely a gift from the gods themselves. Rydal opened one of his desk drawers and reached inside, pulling out a book before turning to you with that disarming stare of his.
“Since I have to leave you in this cold, dreadful, lonesome building for the holidays–”
“Okay, relax, I won’t be entirely alone–”
“–all by yourself, without me–”
“–Eleanor is staying, too, for fuck’s sake I already mentioned this–”
“–I got you something,” he finished without the flourish you were expecting.
Rydal presented you with the book in his arms, brandishing the title as if he were an old-fashioned tour guide in Europe, arm movements and all. Cheeseball. It was an early edition of Pride and Prejudice, one of your favourites – ridiculously well kept and the pages hardly creased from lack of use. The binding was perfectly intact and you were almost afraid to take it from his hands, eyes darting between the title and his face in shock.
He brushed off your reaction and protests, insisting that you took it off his hands, that you’d be doing him a favour really, and that he had no use for it. You hardly believed him but accepted the gift nonetheless, noticing the way his chest puffed out with pride at your excitement over it, and cherishing what must have been a family heirloom that he so freely handed over to you.
///
The next time Rydal got you something that made you slightly nervous to accept was in February. It was before Valentines, the two of you choosing to ignore the ostentatious and offensive holiday in favour of just passing midterm season. He was so casual about it, leaving it in your bathroom cabinet with your other cheaper toiletries in its original packaging, slapping the tiniest pink bow you’d ever seen on it so you’d know it was from him. You don’t even remember telling him about it, the Chanel bottle glaringly out of place amongst your other drug store products.
You made sure to wear it the next time you saw him, and you fucking knew he was waiting for you to with the way he pressed his nose into your neck and deeply inhaled as you greeted him. If this was another game of his, you weren’t going to be the one to back down and admit you squealed and showed it off to your roommate.
You probably shouldn’t have done that last part. Eleanor was already jealous enough as it was, complaining that her boyfriend still hadn’t made reservations for the cringey celebration.
Rydal made sure to be extra handsy that day, taking any and every excuse to lean into your personal space and show his appreciation that you wore what he bought for you. Which, okay, fine, you liked that you had that effect on him but he was bordering on hedonistic as he mouthed at you. Not that you were complaining but you definitely pushed him away a few times out of fear of him sucking a bruise onto your skin in broad daylight.
You made sure to spray the perfume all over your body the next time you saw him, fully expecting him to go batshit and not let you leave his dorm.
///
Towards the end of the semester with the prospect of summer looming over your heads, you felt more and more needy towards Rydal. You were not only stressed about the end of your second year, but finals and the fear of not seeing him for the next four months despite his plans and promises. Not only were you stealing his t-shirts that carried his scent with them, hoarding them away for lonely nights, you were also playing your hand with his other possessions.
You began wearing anything and everything at least once for fear of his memory leaving you in the short time you were away from each other. This ended up with you rifling through his closet while he showered, trying on different sweaters and blazers before finding a pair of sunglasses tucked into the breast pocket of one of his jackets, tossing it aside quickly before trying the classic Raybans on.
Which is exactly how he found you, looking at yourself from different angles in the mirror and seeing if you could pull off the heavy metal frames. If only they were just a tad smaller. Sighing, you deposited them into his outstretched hand, his subtle smirk going unnoticed by you.
Rydal thought this side of you was hilarious, he knew exactly what you were doing when you thought you were subtly tucking his shirts away into your bag before leaving. He found this new behaviour incredibly endearing, especially since you refused to admit that the time away from him was going to be a problem anytime he asked.
It’s not that he didn’t feel the same, no, he definitely wasn’t looking forward to the month you’d have to spend apart. He was afraid of the morning he would have to wake up in his childhood home without the option of you being there, or just a couple minutes of a walk away. Just the thought of it made his stomach churn uncomfortably but he refused to think about it.
A week after the awkward sunglasses incident, you received a nondescript brown package to your dorm. Thinking it was for your roommate, you left it for Eleanor on her bed without a second glance. You didn’t order things to your dorm, you were fucking poor.
When she picked it up, she scoffed at the shipping label before walking it over to you, muttering something about Sebastian needing to step his game up. Looking down at the package again, you saw that it was addressed to you. You ripped the package open in confusion before lifting the spectacle case out of the bubble wrap, your mind immediately jumping to your stupidly well off boyfriend.
Inside the case was the matching women’s version of the frames he owned, the same ones that were just a bit too large for your face. You hated the swooping feeling you got while putting them on.
///
Summer was upon the both of you before you were ready. You had to say your goodbyes, temporary or not, you couldn’t very well go home with him and he wouldn’t last a day in your life. You just had to wait until you met up in June, at his family’s summer home. There, you’d spend a month or two, depending on how uncomfortable you were in the presence of other nepo babies.
“I’ll be fine.”
“Yeah, that’s why you’re suffocating me, right?”
His voice came out muffled against your shoulder which was currently pressed up against his mouth from where you had thrown your arms around him.
Pulling back to press your foreheads together, his hands came up to hold your face between them.
“I’ll be back under your skin before you know it… hopefully under you before either of us know it.”
///
When you saw him again in June, you were a nervous wreck. The pressure of not only seeing him outside of your normal routine of school but also in the presence of his family and other privileged kids, some of which went to school with you both, was making you unnaturally quiet. Rydal, of course, noticed.
“C’mere, baby, gotta show you something.”
“Rydal, we can’t have sex in the pool changing rooms,” you started.
“No, what? Ew. What the fuck— ew, no! I’m not that easy—“
You made a face.
“Let’s not get into how easy you were for me—“
“—not fair, you should’ve seen yourself—“
“—practically begging me to suck you off—“
“—you know I like when you say the word suck—“
“—why did you ask me to follow you in here?”
Rydal reached into his pocket, thick hands pulling the already tight fabric even more taught causing your eyes to openly ogle his thigh. It’s been a long month and a half away from each other, you couldn’t help it and you weren’t drooling, okay?
He pulled out a small blue box, the distinct colour of it starkly contrasted against his sun kissed skin. Robin’s egg blue. No, that’s not quite right. Tiffany blue. Tacky white bow on top.
Your heart stopped beating.
“Rydal, what— I can’t accept whatever is in that box,” you were stuttering and your eyes were most definitely welling up.
“Hey, hey. It’s just an early birthday present,” his arms came up to pull you closer. “I… I like buying you things. Pretty things. You deserve them, baby, will you at least let me show you?”
He was being uncharacteristically gentle with you, out of place in the echoing changing room by the pool. Well, that’s not entirely true, was it? Rydal showed you his gentle and soft side often, however, it was usually masked with a bratty comment here and there. If you let yourself take the time to remember, he had been showing you kindness from the day you met him, ready to forgive you for ruining his best friend’s stark white shoes.
And that’s the thing with Rydal, he was always going to be soft for you, even if he covered it up with messy words to make you frown at him. He never wanted you to grovel for him or his money, never expected you to treat him any differently for all the pretty things he bought you, for all the liberties he granted you.
Looking up into his doting eyes, you found him waiting for your response, if you would let him buy his girlfriend a birthday present. To grant him permission to adorn you. You nodded hesitantly.
He was excited to open the box and take out the tennis bracelet, a delicately bejewelled thing. He was eager to clasp it around your wrist before watching you admire it.
“Do you—“
“I love you.”

Zelensky headed to Brussels to present “victory plan” at European Council
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky went to Brussels for a special meeting of the European Council to persuade European leaders to support his “victory plan,” according to Ukrainian media.
He thanked European Council President Charles Michel for inviting him to the meeting. Zelensky also announced meetings with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other Parliament’s officials.
On Wednesday, he presented his “victory plan” to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament). The plan allegedly consists of five preliminary points and three unspoken appendices. It includes Ukraine’s accession to NATO, increased defence production, a “non-nuclear strategic deterrence package” and greater economic pressure on Moscow.
The implementation of the “victory plan” would give Europe security guarantees, as after the war Ukraine would have “one of the most experienced military contingents,” Zelensky said.
The White House said on Wednesday that US President Joe Biden had contacted Zelensky to provide an update on US efforts to increase security assistance for Ukraine. The new $425 million package for Ukraine would include air defences, anti-aircraft missiles, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, Humvees and other equipment, according to The Washington Post.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also stated on Wednesday that he was “very aware of all elements of the victory plan,” but did not provide any guarantees of Kyiv’s accession to NATO.
It is my firm belief that one day Ukraine will be a member of NATO, and I will applaud when that day comes. It is up to the allies to discuss among themselves how to take it forward.
Zelensky’s efforts, including a no-result European tour, are presumably related to Ukraine’s preparations for a tough winter. Russian troops keep pressure on eastern Ukraine for months, advancing on Pokrovsk and Toretsk.

Hi! I hope this isn’t bad to ask but I’m going to the Netherlands in a couple of weeks (first time traveling outside the US) and I was wondering if u have any recommendations on things to do/foods from the area I should try?
hi anon!
I've been thinking about this for a while, cause I wanted to give you some tips that aren't also in any google search, so here they are, sorted into an activity, food, and general tips to survive the country section (it's mostly focused on Amsterdam and Utrecht, cause that's where I have the most experience)
Under the cut cause I had a lot to say apparently
Activities:
In Amsterdam, I love the Hortus, which is a botanical garden dating from the 17th century! It's partly outside but there are several indoor parts that are really pretty!
This probably is in the google searches but the Amsterdam Light Festival is going on, and it's really fun. There's a walking route and boat tours, but you can also just keep your eyes open when moving through the city and spot the art works that way
The Hallen in Amsterdam is a really fun place to go if you want to do something a little more lowkey, there's a few cute stores, expositions, a market hall-style food place and a cinema, as well as some events that they host certain days!
I haven't done this myself but the Adam Tower (in Noord, so you can take the ferry from central station which is fun) has a lookout deck where you can see the whole city! There's a swing set where you can book a place to swing over the edge I think (Europe's highest swing let's go). My brother did this a few years ago and thought it was really fun!
If you like books Savannah Bay in Utrecht is one of my favs, one of the top bookstores I've ever been to in my life in general I think
When in Utrecht pls hit the Miffy stoplight, it takes 5 minutes and she's a national icon (it's literally just a stoplight with a Miffy figure and it's adorable)
This may not be worth it if you're only here for a short period of time but if you have a day where you want to escape the city, Dutch beaches are beautiful even in the winter! The practice of uitwaaien (lit. outblowing), or walking into the wind to feel more invigorated (specifically a winter thing and popular among the Dutch especially on Boxing Day or New Years Day), is really nice to do sometimes, and a beach walk can be nice for a change!
Food:
Stroopwafels are on every list BUT I'd specifically recommend getting a hot one somewhere, cause they're much better than the packaged ones! They sell them at outdoor markets and I'm sure there's also some stores that have them!
Everyone also always talks about hagelslag but I personally prefer vlokken, which is a similar concept but thinner so they're nice and crispy would recommend
If you want a quick lunch, Bagels & Beans is a small chain that's got places across the country, they have nice bagels and I have it on good authority the coffee's also good!
If you want to get takeaway food, I would highly recommend Surinamese food. These generally don't really have restaurants and the places I've been to haven't really differed in quality so I'd just pick a nearby one but you simply must eat roti (a dish popular across the Caribbean so not specifically Surinamese but delicious) it rules so hard
Editing this cause I just walked past an oliebollen stall and you should absolutely try one of those if you’re here on time they’re a traditional Dutch new years treat!
General tips:
Always look every way when crossing the street even if it's one-way cause bikes can and will come from everywhere
In a similar vein: some tourists think bike bells are rung simply for fun, they are not, they have the same function of a car horn! If you hear one please do get off the road lmao it'll save you a lot of cursing from the locals
Pretty much everyone here speaks English really well, but a general rule of thumb for non-English speaking countries is that it's really appreciated if you learn at least hello and thank you in the local language (hallo and dank je wel in Dutch)!
Finally, a request more than a tip: please don't rent a bike cause it's genuinely dangerous. 99% of tourists can't bike that well and even those that can aren't used to the type of traffic here, as it's incredibly chaotic because of all the bikes, and tourists on bikes are even less prepared for that than ones that are walking (I know it looks fun I get it but the amount of times I've almost gotten into an accident bc a tourist made a weird swerve is so high I just had to put this in)
I hope you have a lovely trip anon, enjoy!!! <3
#also dont be the guy that stepped in front of my bike yesterday to take a picture of the city with a ~local on bike~#thereby almost getting himself run over (by me)#but you sound nice and sensible i have faith you wouldnt do that to begin with#shut up judith

Am I the only one who’s not really enjoying chapter 2 so far? I feel a tad guilty for saying it but apart from Jimin’s album, none of the solo work we’ve seen so far has really made it for me 😕 Objectivity I found Indigo really good but I realize I never really reach for it. Face has been the only album I’ve listened to loads of times. I like Layover, but I know it won’t be to the point of listening it again and again. I was a bit sad because I was excited for Jungkook’s album but I really don’t like Seven at all. I miss Jin and Hobi’s humour and energy. I guess I’m much more a BTS fan as a group rather than the members separately. Jimin is my bias, I have a soft spot for him, but I would still choose the band as a whole over him as a soloist. I feel a bit bad for saying it.. I hate the way the fandom is right now, all the competitiveness, and oftentimes I catch myself thinking I want this chapter to be over so we can get the band together again. I just want to see them live at least once, as I became a fan at the beginning of 2020 and as I live in Europe I didn’t have the opportunity to see them. I’m also bored about how they tend to focus so heavily on the US market now..of course I understand why, but still, it’s annoying. I don’t know if there’s anyone who feel the same? I just want the solo area to come to an end.. sorry for the rant, I know I’m being selfish but I’m getting bored with this area😫
I understand where you're coming from. I miss BTS like crazy. Nothing tops how much fun they are together and how their love for each other is a balm to the soul. I miss them dropping music and their performances. I miss the excitement of a BTS comeback. It's really not the same with them solo. Nothing is as exciting, everything is rushed, and we have no time to even anticipate or feel excited about new music dropping because it happens too often.
Indigo is a great album but I haven't listened to it much either, V's debut was my least favorite in many ways, I didn't like JITB as a whole, I didn't care about Face either. I like Seven but I've many, many complaints about it, and am feeling very apprehensive about JK's next single and debut album. I would've been happier if I had more performances to look forward to. When BTS have a comeback, they perform their title track so much that we get tired of it. But Hobi and Suga were the only ones who performed more than a handful of times, and doing a tour isn't the same as having performances uploaded to BANGTANTV every week. I miss group performances, Bangtan Bombs, Run BTS, the random promotional videos for Chuseok or whatever, Bon Voyage, Winter and Summer packages, ITS, etc. Photoshoots and variety shows aren't the same, I don't care for them... I miss the excitement of waking up and seeing them all at a certain event or at the airport. Nothing is as fun with only one of the members, and I know they're all looking forward to 2025 as well!
It's insane that it feels like BTS was an hallucination. Before 2021 the idea of the members not being seven was just fucking crazy, but now BTS don't even feel like a group anymore. I can't even imagine them together now. You're definitely not the only one who prefers them as a group. Most Armys do. It's okay to be bored by their solo ventures. It is what it is. It's not selfish. You're allowed to not like the way things turned out. I'm sure you're not blaming BTS and that you understand their current situation.
Also, I've no plans to seem them live. I know it won't happen and I'm more afraid of having the opportunity than not. If they go to Spain, for example, it will be relatively simple for me to see them live so I will feel pressured to buy tickets, but it's so fucking complicated to do so. Plus, there's traveling, the waiting at the venue, and all the stress that goes with it. If I don't get tickets, I'll be sad, and if I do, I'll be nervous that the experience won't live up to my expectations. I honestly prefer it that I've never had to worry about missing a chance to see them live because it's never come up. But I also get your pov haha. I hope you get to see them at least once!
Thanks for the ask!

Hey guys! So im really exited for this cuz I've seen this movie hundreds of times and I fell in love with it and I just cant help but imagine Hyunjin and Jisung in this so enjoy! Ill try making this as poetic abd beautiful as possible! I even made a cover 🤭🤭. I wanted to do it on wattpad but idk if anyone would read it tbh so Ill do it here but if y'all want I can write it on wattpad too❤️, and this will be in many many parts ❤️
This will mostly be in Jisungs POV but it might change through the story cuz yeah.
Also Jisung is Elio and Hyunjin is Oliver
This is how I imagine them in this story:
Warnings: boyxbox
Pt. 1
Alma de mi vida
if not later, When?
Jisung POV
"Later!" The word, the voice, the attitude.
I'd never heard anyone use "Later" to say goodbye before. It sounded harsh, curt, and dismissive, spoken with veiled indifference of people who may not care to see or hear from you again.
It is the first thing I remember about him, and I can hear ut still today. Later!
I shut my eyes, say the word, and I'm back in Italy (yes this will be in Italy, sorry 😭), so many years ago, walking down the tree-lined driveway, watching him steo out of the cab , billowy blue shirt, wide open collar, sunglasses, straw hat , skin everywhere. Suddenly he's shaking my hand, handing me his backpack, removing his suitcase from the trunk of the cab, asking if my father is home.
It might have started right there and then: the shirt, the rolled - up sleeves, the rounded balls of his heels slipping in and out of his flip flops, eager to test the hot gravel path that led to our house, every stride already asking, Which way to the beach?
This summer's houseguest. Another bore.
Then, almost without thinking, and with his back already turned to the car, he waves the back of his free hand and utters a careless Later! To another passenger in the car who was probably splut the fare from the station. No name added, no jest to smooth out the ruffled leave-taking, nothing. His one-word send-off: brisk, bold, and blunted -- take your pick, he couldn't be bothered Which.
You watch, I thought, this is how he'll say goodbye to us when the time comes. With a gruff, slapdash Later!
Meanwhile, we'd have to put up with him for six long weeks. I was thoroughly intimidated. The unapproachable sort.
I could grow to like him, though. From sharp jaw to rounded heel. Then, within days, I would learn to hate him.
This, the very person whose photo on the application form months earlier had leapt out with promises of instant affinities.
Taking in summer guests was my parents' way of helping young academics revise a manuscript before publication. For six weeks each summer I'd have to vacate my bedroom and move one room longed to my grandfather. Durning the winter months, when we were away in the city, it became a part time toolshed, storage room, and attic where rummor had it my grandfather, my namesake, still ground his teeth in his enteral sleep. Summer residents didn't have to pay anything, were given the full run of the house, and could basically do anything the pleased. Provided they spent an hour or so a day helping my father with his correspondence and assorted paperwork. They became part of the family, and after about fifteen years of doing this, we had gotten used to a shower of postcards and gift packages not only around Christmas time but all year long from people who were now totally devoted to our family abd would go out of their way when they were in Europe to drop B. for a day or two with their family and take nostalgic tour of their old digs.
At meals there were frequently two or three other guests, sometimes neighbours or relatives, sometimes colleagues, lawyers, doctors, the rich abd famous who'd drop by to see my father on their way to their own summer houses. Sometimes we'd even open our dining room to the occasional tourist couple who'd heard of the old villa and simply wanted to come by and take a peek and were totally enchanted when asked to eat with us and tell us about themselves, while Halmoni, informed at the last minute, dishes out her usual fare. My father, who was reserved and shy in private, loved nothing better than to have some precocious rising expert in a filed keep the conversation going in few languages while the hot summer sun, after a few glasses of rosatello , ushered in the unavoidable afternoon torpot. We named the task dinner drudgery -- and, after a while, so did most of our six-week guests.
Maybe it started soon after his arrival durning one of those grinding lunches when he sat next to me and it finally dawned on me that, despite a light tan acquired durning brief stay in Sicily earlier that summer, the color on the palms of his hands was the same as the pale, soft skin of his soles, if his throat,of the bottom of his forearms, which hadn't really been exposed too much sun. Almost a light pink, as glistening and smooth as the underside of a lizard's belly. Private, chaste, unflaged, like a blush on an athlete's face or an instance of dawn on a story night. It told me things about him I never knew to ask.
It may have started durning those endless hours after lunch when everybody lounged about in bathing suits inside and outside the house, bodies sprawled everywhere, killing time before someone finally suggested we head down to the rocks for a swim. Relatives, cousins, neighbours, friends, friends of friends, colleagues, or just about anyone who cared to knock at our gate and ask if they could use our tennis court -- everyone was welcomed to lounge and swim and eat and, if they stayed long enough, use the guesthouse.

Planning a Unique Corporate Retreat in Europe: Tips and Insights
Corporate retreats are no longer just an excuse to escape the office; they have evolved into an opportunity to build team cohesion, inspire creativity, and foster innovative thinking. Europe, with its stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and world-class facilities, offers countless options for organizing a unique and impactful corporate retreat. By exploring tailored corporate retreats packages, you can simplify planning while ensuring an experience that meets your team’s goals. Whether you’re planning to brainstorm in the Alps, rejuvenate by the Mediterranean, or strategize in a historic castle, here’s a guide packed with tips and insights to make your European corporate retreat unforgettable.
1. Define Your Goals and Objectives
Before deciding on the location or activities, clarify the purpose of your retreat. Is it to reward your employees, enhance team bonding, develop leadership skills, or brainstorm new ideas? Clear goals help determine the ideal destination, itinerary, and budget. For example:
For team bonding: Consider activities like vineyard tours in Bordeaux or hiking in the Scottish Highlands.
For innovation and brainstorming: Choose creative hubs like Amsterdam or Berlin, known for their inspiring environments.
2. Choose the Perfect Location
Europe’s diversity allows for a variety of retreat settings. Here are some standout options:
Urban Retreats: Cities like Barcelona, Prague, or Vienna offer a mix of history, culture, and modern amenities. They’re perfect for companies looking to combine business with leisure activities.
Nature Escapes: Retreats in the Swiss Alps or Tuscany’s countryside offer a serene environment to unplug and refocus.
Unique Venues: Consider booking a castle in Ireland, a chalet in the French Alps, or a villa on the Amalfi Coast for an extraordinary experience.
3. Timing is Everything
When planning a retreat in Europe, timing plays a crucial role. The peak summer season (June to August) sees an influx of tourists, which might affect pricing and availability. Consider the shoulder seasons (spring and autumn) for fewer crowds, mild weather, and lower costs. For a cozy winter retreat, December offers the added charm of Christmas markets across Europe.
4. Incorporate Local Experiences
One of the greatest advantages of hosting a corporate retreat in Europe is the opportunity to immerse your team in local culture. Tailor your itinerary to include unique regional activities:
France: Host a cooking class in Provence or a wine-tasting session in Burgundy.
Italy: Organize a Vespa tour through the streets of Rome or a pasta-making workshop in Florence.
Norway: Embark on a team-building adventure with a Northern Lights excursion or fjord kayaking.
5. Choose Accommodations Wisely
Accommodations can make or break your retreat. Look for venues that offer both comfort and functional spaces for workshops or meetings. Many European destinations have venues specifically designed for corporate groups, combining luxury amenities with high-tech facilities. Whether it’s a boutique hotel in Lisbon or a resort in the Dolomites, ensure the venue aligns with your retreat’s objectives.
6. Plan for Accessibility and Logistics
Europe boasts a well-connected transportation network, making it relatively easy to travel between countries. When selecting a retreat destination, prioritize accessibility for your team:
Choose locations with direct flights or minimal transfers.
If your team is spread across multiple cities, pick a central location like Paris or Munich for convenience.
Arrange group transportation like private shuttles or trains to ensure smooth logistics.
7. Balance Work and Leisure
A successful corporate retreat strikes the right balance between structured activities and downtime. Overloading the schedule with meetings and workshops can lead to burnout. Incorporate leisure activities that allow team members to relax and bond, such as sightseeing tours, yoga sessions, or casual dinners at local restaurants.
8. Hire Local Experts
Partnering with local event planners or retreat organizers can significantly enhance your retreat experience. They bring insider knowledge, from securing unique venues to curating authentic activities. Local experts can also help navigate language barriers, cultural nuances, and permit requirements.
9. Embrace Sustainability
As sustainability becomes a priority for businesses, consider organizing an eco-friendly retreat. Opt for venues with green certifications, support local businesses, and minimize waste by avoiding single-use plastics. You can also include environmentally friendly team activities, such as tree planting or beach clean-ups, to leave a positive impact.
10. Evaluate and Reflect
Once the retreat concludes, collect feedback from participants to evaluate its success and identify areas for improvement. Use surveys or informal discussions to understand what worked well and how the retreat contributed to the team’s goals.
Sample Itinerary for a Corporate Retreat in Europe
Day 1: Arrival and Welcome
Arrive at the destination and check into the retreat venue.
Welcome lunch with local delicacies.
Icebreaker activities to set a collaborative tone.
Day 2: Workshops and Exploration
Morning workshop or brainstorming session.
Afternoon guided city tour or nature hike.
Evening team dinner at a traditional restaurant.
Day 3: Team-Building Activities
Morning team-building exercise, such as a cooking class or outdoor challenge.
Free time for personal exploration or relaxation.
Closing ceremony with awards or acknowledgments.
