The Waiting Room
Eureka Community Players (ECP) have undertaken a new challenge: writing plays.  On Sunday, March 24th, these plays will be presented in an anthology format.  Called “The Waiting Room” – An Afternoon of 10-minute Scenes Written by Local Writers begins at 3:00 p.m. at the Timbers Event Center. In September 2023, The ECP hosted a workshop presented by Maud Powell entitled “Calling All Writers”.…

You know what you all get to suffer another pointless post about reddit and what I call the Defensive Wave
Whenever a game has common critiques that a large share of players agree on (generally bearing discontent about the state of the game) places like reddit will undergo this amusing shift of dialogue where a post or posts will get some hype, usually looking like
This [content] isn't well done because of (reasons)
Instead of the people who disagree actually trying to prove their stance, within 24 hours another post (or posts) will arrive making counter arguments without actually making anything resembling a real defense. Instead, it'll just be:
Well I loved [content] and your opinion is just an opinion, it doesn't make it objectively bad!
This is happening on r/FFXIV right now and has been since 6.5 launched three days ago, with that exact post chain happening yet again. I'll save you the braincells and just tell you that none of the posts or comments are actually discussing the issues presented, nor are they even acknowledging them. Instead, it's a direct critique of the ones who complained for speaking, usually while engaging in sideways manipulations of reality to pretend they are simply mad because of x and y reasons.
Ex. The Cyberpunk subreddit claiming people are just mad that the game didn't hold up to the players lofty expectations, ignoring that the devs promised those exact things.
This will continue until something draws the discourse away, smothering any chance of the complaints to be taken seriously while also silencing those who wish to speak under the false positivity of...attacking people for not agreeing with you.
I've seen it happen dozens of times and it's at the point that I can predict the posts of a subreddit before they happen. This isn't difficult to do mind you, people aren't particularly bright and will readily waste a few minutes complaining about those mean people pointing out the issues! It's just human nature to be a fuckwit, I suppose.
If people were slightly more intelligent, they'd realize discourse and negative comments are important for the health of an ongoing game, but no no we gotta act like everyone loves this shit in case (Dev) is sad!
Of course repeated negative discourse cycles exist, but those are a separate matter.
#FFXIV#No no these patches are great except for all the largescale complaints people have!#Its just that a sizable chunk of the community is getting exhausted from the same content loops#that doesnt count!#Its just that the content is underbaked and largely threw away all of the narrative thrust for the writers personal blorbos!#That doesnt Count!#Its just that the PVP changes ultimately didnt fix Front lines being dogshit and 90% of players doing all of the grind within a week#That doesnt count!#Its just that island sanctuary is a spreadsheet tied to you gathering sticks in a field for hours!#Its just that Criterion dungeons are done and over within 9 hours and serve no valued purpose to any of their trash Ilevel loops?#Its just that the combat system is collapsing due to bad balance choices and earlier content being made easier and less complicated!#That doesn't count!#Its just that the game is fundementally old as dirt and needs a total engine overhaul!#No no all the complaints are because you're mad they didnt give you five raids six eurekas and a blowjob!#Idiots#Dawntrail is going to underperform and be critiqued as middle of the road unless they've got some refreshing new content#And lets be real here 90% of the content we get is just different versions of fighting guys in hallways and rooms#I say this as someone whose stockpiling hundreds of dyes for the new Dye channel changes and is more excited about that then anything else#Oh also the new jobs are Corsair and Green Mage I'm 99.9% sure#And Femhroth for 7.0 which are just Femroes but hairy with a slightly more meow meow face#Nothing they've yet shown or hinted at will change the exhaustion people feel having to do pointless quests and get exposited at#HEY I KNOW YOU'RE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON EVER BUT CAN YOU GO TALK TO X#you get to X and they say HEY MY BUTT HURTS CAN YOU GO TALK TO Y#you get to Y who tells you to go back to X then go back to the original NPC#Rinse and repeat fifteen times and throw in some combat cutscenes and 3-5 solo instances#THERES YA MSQ good job you stopped the chameleons civil war or whatever#Honestly they've got nowhere to go at this point they already committed to the fact that we are Almighty

Re-Introducing the A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club & FAQ
Tumblr media
Alright, so, we have this discord server called the A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. A discord server, run by the A.N.I.M. Team, for reading, analyzing, and playing TTRPGs. It’s free to join, and at the time of writing this it has a community of nearly 200 members.
Also at the time of writing this, for a limited time, you can get a FREE PDF of the July 11th update of Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy just by joining the A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club! This is a huge upgrade over the free May 10th version!
Here’s how the book club operates:
Nominations. Members nominate RPGs they wanna play.
Voting. After we finish the current RPG, we vote on what the next one will be. You can vote for as many nominations as you want, and nominations with the most votes wins.
Reading. We encourage you to buy the winning game to support the developers, but if you can’t for any reason, we will find a way to get you a PDF. A rough deadline is set that will allow everyone to read the rulebook at a rate of about 10 pages a day, though reading faster or slower is okay.
Playing. We assign GMs on a volunteer basis, and players are assigned to groups with GMs based on schedule compatibility. Each group plays the same adventure module, so each group will have commonalities in their adventure that they can talk about and compare their experiences with, even with different GMs, players, and characters.
Repeat. Voting begins anew with the nominations that we have accumulated in the mean time.
A.N.I.M.’s current Patreon goal is also tied to the Book Club. If y’all can raise our Patreon income to $310/month, that will allow us to set aside manpower to carve out and organize a small additional space within the ANIM TTRPG Book Club server for other games which do not fit the nomination criteria for the main book club! At the time of writing this, it sits at $259/$310. Signing up to the patreon grants you access to monthly rulebook updates as we continue to finish the game, adventure modules, short fiction, and our patreon discord server.
Below is a bit of an FAQ as an attempt to quell any concerns or hesitations
“The Book Club games probably don’t fit with my schedule.”
They might! Because we assign multiple different groups based on schedule compatibility, the book club games are actually very very schedule-flexible! You might be surprised!
And if they still don’t, even just reading the rulebook and joining in on discussions is a valuable form of participation!
“I’m afraid to play with strangers.”
They won’t exactly be strangers if you hang out around them in the book club long enough! Yes we do get what you mean, but there’s nothing to worry about. The A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club is a safe community, and we have rules and, more importantly, procedures designed to make playing with relative strangers as smooth an experience as it can be!
“What if I don’t like the RPG that wins the vote?”
While we encourage you to step a little out of your comfort zone, participation in any given round of the book club is not mandatory, there’s no punishment for sitting out! It’s cool to just hang around in the discord server and discuss virtually anything if you want to.
Tumblr media
Elegantly designed and thoroughly playtested, Eureka represents the culmination of three years of near-daily work from our team, as well as a lot of our own money. If you’re just now reading this and learning about Eureka for the first time, you missed the crowdfunding window unfortunately, but our Kickstarter page is still the best place to learn more about what Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy actually is, as that is where we have all the fancy art assets, the animated trailer, links to video reviews by podcasts and youtubers, and where we post regular updates on the status of our progress finishing the game and getting it ready for final release.
Beta Copies through the Patreon
If you want more than just status updates, going forward you can download regularly updated playable beta versions of Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy and it’s adventure modules by subscribing to our Patreon at the $5 tier or higher. Subscribing to our patreon also grants you access to our patreon discord server where you can talk to us directly and offer valuable feedback on our progress and projects.
The A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club
If you would like to meet the A.N.I.M. team and even have a chance to play Eureka with us, you can join the A.N.I.M. TTRPG Book Club discord server. It’s also just a great place to talk and discuss TTRPGs, so there is no schedule obligation, but the main purpose of it is to nominate, vote on, then read, discuss, and play different indie TTRPGs. We put playgroups together based on scheduling compatibility, so it’s all extremely flexible. This is a free discord server, separate from our patreon exclusive one. https://discord.gg/7jdP8FBPes
Other Stuff
We also have a ko-fi and merchandise if you just wanna give us more money for any reason.
We hope to see you there, and that you will help our dreams come true and launch our careers as indie TTRPG developers with a bang by getting us to our base goal and blowing those stretch goals out of the water, and fight back against WotC's monopoly on the entire hobby. Wish us luck.

SEA'S COMMUNITY COMPENDIUM UPDATE
We have a massive one today! Huge thanks to a close friend of mine who sent me every single bookmark of xiv resources she had. 💖
Additionally, a good handful of these resources were sourced from a list originally created by @rinhkitty, which you can find here. I have tried to include the more recent/active of the lot, so it's not a one-for-one. Thank them for a lot of the large scale resources you'll find below! ✨
As of 04/12, I have added the following resources (in no particular order) to Sea's Community Compendium for FFXIV Creatives:
LARGE SCALE
GARLAND TOOLS — Contains XIV resources such as Garland Data, everything database, crafting lists and equipment calculators; Garland Bell, gathering timers, collectable resources and hunt windows; and FFXIV Fisher, daily fishing windows, bait paths and catch checklist. Maintained by Clorifex Ezalor of Zalera.
TEAMCRAFT — Create crafting lists and collaborate with others, set gathering alarms, simulate crafting rotations, and more!
CAT BECAME HUNGRY - FFXIV ANGLER — Contains everything and anything to know about fishing including specific fish guides, location, baits, aquarium fish and more!
FFXIV - CRAFTING AS A SERVICE — Crafting information and planning for FFXIV!
FFXIV GARDENING — The FFXIV Gardening Database is a collection of everything related to gardening in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It was created to organize and visualize the results obtained from crossbreeding.
SIGHTSEEING LOG HELPER — This tool will help those trying to complete their pesky Sightseeing Log by letting them know upcoming weather patterns for each zone!
EUREKA TRACKER — For everything and anything to do with Eureka mobs, tracking and weather patterns.
FFLOGOS — for tracking of items/actions related to Eureka.
FFXIVSQUADRON — A comprehensive tool that helps you assess the success rate of various squadron missions.
FFXIV CHOCOBO COLOUR CALCULATOR — Will calculate what chocobo feed you will need to get from your current colour to your desired colour. *rng not included.
FFXIV HOUSING — A site specialising in the documentation of all housing items available in game.
HOUSING SNAP — A compilation of player-made housing designs. Can be used for inspiration or places to visit!
MISC
NPC CHAT BUBBLES — Would you like more NPC chat bubbles for edits? Say no more! Created by @alexoisxiv.
OLD TUMBLR LAYOUT BY PIXIEL — While not XIV specific I know a lot of people aren't fans of the new Tumblr layout, so this is a fix that will revert it to an as close as possible approximation of the new one. I won't tag the creator as I don't think they're in the xiv community, but it's run by @/pixiel!
HOW TO CURSE LIKE AN ISHGARDIAN — Do you want to make the church blush? Do you want to incur the wrath of Halone? @stars-and-clouds has compiled a list of appropriate curses/swear words for you!
FINAL FANTASY XIV SIDEQUEST GUIDE - HEAVENSWARD EDITION — maintained by @chatty-moogle, this guide explores interesting sidequests in Heavensward that will give you more information about the lore, titbits about locals and other interesting information!
TRUST BANNERS FOR XIV — If you have ever wondered how people mimic the Trust banners used in XIV, look no further! @locke-rinannis has a template for you.
MAKING USE OF RECOMMENDATIONS — created by @autumnslance, this guide will help you make your recommendations tab useful rather than annoying.
BOTANICA EORZEA — A guide to the flora of Eitherys and her reflections, including fungi and seedkin. For reference in writing and roleplaying. Maintained by @tinolqa.
GPOSE TIPS — A tutorial on how to achieve clarity and detail in your XIV screenshots! Created by @aryalaenkha.
UI MACRO MENUS — A guide on how to use macros to create small UI menus for XIV. Written by @diskwrite-ffxiv.
TYPHON GATE RESEARCH — Created by @mcstronghuge, these are the statistically best places for your character to stand for the Typhon Gate!
CHANGELOG
HYDAELYN HEALTH HAVEN has been removed at the request of the owner.
Moved THE BALANCE higher on the list to reflect alphabetical sorting, excluding names that start with The.
Misc formatting as needed.
Added some additional clarification around large-scale discords/spaces; in particular: Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game. Also includes well-known tools/resources that are utilised by large groups of people and assist in gameplay elements.
Added a quick-jump menu to the bottom of each of the table of contents menus to assist in navigation.
Want to submit? You can either fill out the google form here, send me an ask with the relevant information contained on the Compendium, or join my Discord at SEAFLOOR (21+ only)!
I am sure there's probably a couple of things I have missed or links/formatting that might be broken. Please don't hesitate to let me know if anything is out of place. I'm going to take a break now. I'm pretty sure that's the biggest edit that's ever going to occur on this document!

Hello I've been workimg on a project!! It's a 1.19.2 Minecraft Java Modded Geopolitical server on a large earth map where you can found realistic countries and roleplay them out! We have tons of cool mods like immersive engineering, create, create big cannons, and valkyrien skies/eureka for ships and airships!!!!
I want it to be a chill, non toxic community of queerfolk like myself to have fun in and create a space where we can enjoy the game and recreate history in our image! It's set in the 1860s/1870s so there is a lot you can do and a lot of flexibility! This is for anyone from our history nerds to our casual Minecraft players! Anyone is welcome even if you're not LGBTQ+!
Can't wait to see ya there ay!

The beauty of being a vet player who's streaming alt that looks basically the exact same as my main (the only difference between them is the eyes) is that I can pull bullshit like this where I change my main's hair, throw on the same glamour you guys have seen me wear on stream, and hippity hop into the Jade Stoa so I can get a screenshot of Byakko because I know what the people really want.
We're starting the Four Lords quests tonight, folks!
We'll also be starting Eureka with some good good community times in Anemos (I promise I'll do most of the leveling in there off-stream. Unless watching peeps fate farm in Eureka is something you guys are into?).
Catch me on Twitch every Sunday starting at 4:30 Central and every Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 7:30 Central! Also join the discord for news and shenanigans!

CHAMPIGNAC CC ADDENDUM FILES PART 2
Yesterday, we talked about CC, mainly ATS, Votenga Medieval stuff and some lots creations : all those fantastic things which give relief and vibrance to a Sims 3 World :)
Today, let's talk about ANTS ... Absolute Necessary Things and Stuff to fully enjoy Champignac, beginning with Cyclone Sue Build Stuff ...
They are not numerous but ESSENTIAL to all our Worlds : Lost Cove - Oaksoak Hollow - Eureka Valley and now, Champignac ;)
Set Scaffolding, Truss and Steel Girders (Columns)
Set Porta-Potty portable toilets
Set Barbed and Chickenwire Fences
Set Alpine Roofline 45-degree Windows
Set Useful Walls
Alcatraz door + Alcatraz window
Metal Lattice Sliding Door
Still, from TSR, there is the Linea Natura Arch by BuffSum
In addition, don't forget the beautiful himalayan poppy field by @nilxis ( by Let's Lolalule Things )
And that's all for our ANTS build stuff :D
As You can see in the first picture above, no more problem with the alpha of the trees in the distant terrain \o/
We used a small override file : Smaller Eiffel Tower by Qahne @ MTS which creates 2 advantages, a smaller Eiffel Tower and the fix for the broken alpha settings of trees in distant terrain.
We discovered too on a NRAAS thread another cool modding file : ScooterOverride by Consort which brings teens to drive only scooters ... I mean the mythic Kenspa !
Tumblr media
When a vacation world such as Champs les Sims becomes a fully suburbia world, it loses the Kenspa as main vehicle of the town. So we tried to minimize as much as possible this side effect and we added different Kenspa in our files. Of course, you may keep or not this choice ;) Up to you !
Now, there are other essential files we used ... such as : the Romanesque Connecting Column Arches Set by TheJim07 @ MTS we used in different locations of Champignac and bring A LOT to get really cool ambiant places.
Tumblr media
Related to the Store stuff, we do not use much and anyway, you don't have to worry about, we'll provide a folder with the necessary files. Clean and updated. Except for the Al Fresco Market.
By the way, we'll update very soon every CC folder we provide on our website for each of our S3 Worlds : all cleaned and updated too.
To finish with this post, let us show you one of the biggest community lot of Champignac : Le Monastère which is too the Winery of the town ( of course there is a Winery ) ;)
Tumblr media
This is a Sims Republic 2015 creation we modified a bit inside to suit Champignac ...
That's all folks ... for the moment. We are aware this kind of post is not as popular as the ones with a download link ... But that's wrong. Creating a world with a unique ambiance is only possible because of all these creations and creators. Maybe as Sims 3 players you already knows this stuff and so, not so interested to see it, again ... but wait and see, we tried very much to organize all those files with love and harmony ...
Next post : Champignac World ( aka Sims de Nimes ) and all the download links ;)

Endwalker: A Retrospective (1/2)
Final Fantasy XIV's most recent expansion "Endwalker" has been a big point of conversation within the community for some time since its release back on December 3rd, 2021. It released to high critical acclaim as the summation of a ten year long saga within one of the most popular MMORPGs available on the market today. I want to look back at the long walk to the end before we blaze a new trail unto the dawn. As someone who's logged several thousand hours over the course of my journey throughout Etheirys I've finished many quests, ran a majority of the content (excluding Ultimates, in due time...), and met a wide range of folks sinking time into one of my favorite games. First off, we dive right into the Main Scenario Questline, hereon referred to as the "MSQ". Most of anything the expansion entails requires you to have conquered the arduous journey the game lays out before you. The production quality of the MSQ is well above where it started, and the increase in quality of the cinematic direction, the voice acting, and the narrative intrigue have all played into making Endwalker truly feel like the culmination of all that came before it. The emotional beats hit hard in some spots, and there's a good mix of light-heartedness in between momentous crescendos that act as a sort of palate cleanser to keep things from becoming strenuous or overbearing for an expansion story the length of a standalone single player RPG. I want to refrain from going into much detail in consideration of those players that have yet to complete the MSQ, but there were a few scenes that actually choked me up, and I'm not typically one to get emotional consuming media. Though that can be said for the base Endwalker MSQ, or the "6.0" content, there was something lackluster about the narrative that followed the climax that felt weaker in comparison. The quality is still there, and in some ways they showcased more of what I hope we get to experience in Dawntrail, however nothing about the more isolated adventure really had me buzzing off the same high as some of the previous post-patch story content such as within Shadowbringers or Heavensward. I do hope that we see some payoff in content down the line, perhaps in the next expansion or even further out, but as of now it felt like getting a lukewarm brownie as a dessert after eating a perfectly seasoned steak. That may seem a bit harsh, but I did still enjoy the brownie. On the topic of the endgame however, I must admit I'm speaking in near isolation since I was a much more casual player before Endwalker released. The encounters ranging from Extreme Trials to Savage Raiding feel really solid, if a bit intense at times. Raiding has been my primary focus in the game for nearly 2 years at this point aside from MSQ completion and it's been fun, but frustrating. Having done some of the more mid-tier content in Stormblood and Shadowbringers such as Eureka, Bozja, and Ishgardian Restoration, the options available to me in the post-patches of Endwalker seemed to amount to either Savage Raiding or using a spreadsheet to upgrade my Island Sanctuary which isn't my favorite kind of content by any means. I had no real drive to push through the new Criterion Dungeons since there was nothing they offered that I felt worth the hassle of pursuing, and Deep Dungeons have never been my favorite content so I've gotten little time in with the new Eureka Orthos. In the end, here just weeks away from Dawntrail's release, my biggest drive to log in is getting my alternative Jobs I've neglected up to the current max level, meeting new people through the more social aspects of the game such as visiting player-run venues, and running PvP activities to finish off my Series.

What would be the perfect way to start a Tumblr that is very... my thing? Oh, I know! I'll start with a vague rant (because my brain doesn't do detailed thoughts, apparently) about FFXIV! Well, the attitude of some of the community, that is.
Let's do this.
I don't understand why people frame their opinion as fact. Just because YOU don't like the content that is coming out doesn't mean it's objectively bad or that there is a content drought. There are a lot of people out there who are playing and enjoying it. The only real difference between previous expansion patches and EW is that the content being released in EW isn't a grind fest. Personally, I'm fine with that. I am one of those who hated Eureka and Bozja.
Grindy doesn't do it for me.
But am I going to shit on the content I don't like and frame my PERSONAL PREFERENCES as objective fact? No, because I understand the universe doesn't revolve around me.
I understand being disappointed, and you are absolutely free to express that. There is nothing wrong with venting. I don't have any issue with people who are just saying that the content isn't for them and that they wish there was something that they personally enjoyed. There are some, however, that seem to have this underlying entitlement with the way they seem to complain.
"Because I don't like this type of content, it means that it's objectively bad and the devs NEED to put in what I like! What I like is objectively superior!"
That type of vibe.
There is no content drought just because you don't like the type of content they are releasing. The devs have always expressed that they design this game with cintent lulls in mind to encourage players to take breaks from the game. They encourage you to play other games and to actually go and touch grass.
It's been like this for the 7 years I've been playing.
In the end, no matter how much you love it, it's just a video game. No video game should become your whole life. If it does, then that is a huge issue. I mean, I adore this game. It has quite literally changed my life. With my circumstances, I should be one of those that makes it their whole existence, but I don't, because it is ultimately just a video game. A hobby.
Having critisms is valid. Shitting on something just because it's not to your personal taste and framing it as an objective fact, isn't. All it is is being entitled and it is something I will probably never understand.
All in all, I personally don't feel like there is a content drought in FFXIV and I'm playing it the exact same amount that I always have in between expansions. Actually, it might be more because I have finally gotten into savage raiding.
It's what you make it.
(Damn, that turned out to be a lot longer than I was expecting. I'm so used to Twitter and thinking about how I can make things more concise to fit the character count. This felt so much nicer to get the thoughts out and flowing better. No restrictions! I kinda like it. XD)

Dear Critically Accalimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, and it's esteemed, free trial with unlimited play time,
Please make old Field Missions relevant again. I am asking so politely. Please. I want to do Eureka but noone is there. Give people a really cool reason to go back there.
Itinerant Moogle is cool but he's never giving me that Baldesion Arsenal mount.
Also I never got to do Dalraiada in Zadnor. Seems kind of ass to have all of this great content that players who joined after it was relevant or missed it when it was relevant, have a hard time doing- even with community made resources. I've been trying to get my Brother through Castrum Lacus Litore for years (not consistently, admittedly) Pain.

This 2024 Fall Season on Broadway maybe as exciting as the Spring 2024! Probably the most anticipated actor to come to Broadway is the recent Oscar winner, Robert Downey Jr in "McNeil" at Lincoln Center starting September 5th at The Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The acoustics in this theater should show off the acting chops of Downey, who is a behemoth of a fill actor.
One of my favorite plays returns to Broadway; "Our Town", a play I saw at Town Hall back in the 80's. "Sunset Boulevard", another great show that I last saw in Los Angeles with Glenn Close will be returning to "The White Way". The Bard's "Romeo and Juliet" too will return this fall season. It will be interesting to see how it will be directed. Another great show of the same genre, "Othello" will run in the Spring of 2025 starring Denzel Washington.
Another hugh Hollywood actor will be making his debut on Broadway; George Clooney in "Good Night, and Good Luck" will have its run this fall. "Maybe Happy Ending" will play at the Belasco in mid September. This show could be a sleeper of the Fall season.
As an early treat, three shows are coming this summer. The first has started early previews already: "Breaking The Story" at the Keiser Theatre. A very successful, albeit, short run at City Center "Once Upon A Mattress" will play at the Hudson Theatre at the end of July. "Oh Mary" after a run off Broadway will begin at the Lyceum Theatre June 26th. A fourth show which I didn't include because it opens previews August 29th at the Booth and is technically a kickoff weekend for some limited theater, is "The Roommate" with the great Patty LuPone; it also includes Mia Farrow as well.
"Yellow Face" is also a show coming in September, followed by a slew of shows in October: "Wonderful World", a story about the life of Louis Armstrong, the greatest Trumpet player ever. A musical I just saw at The Morristown Performing Arts Center "The Pirates of Penzance" makes its overdue return to Broadway. This Tony winner cleaned up at the Tony's back in 1982 when it last played. "Tammy Faye" will also begin in October at the newly renovated Palace Theatre.
From the movie, "Death Becomes Her" at the Lunt Fontaine Theatre has had some early buzz in the theater community. In November "Eureka Day" is showing some promise as well. This show will play at the Friedman Theatre. "Swept Away" has not announced an opening date yet and I have not seen a theater for it. This show is being highly talked about as well as highly anticipated. A show I find interesting is "Left On Tenth". I am hoping it is similar to say "Between Riverside and Crazy" Either way, the title is intriguing to say the least.
Being treated to so many great shows this season has spoiled the theater lover for sure. The lineup for this fall looks like it may do the same. Tony judges this season do not have an enviable position. So many great shows, so few awards to be given out. With a plethora of talent, both old and new, we look forward to the new shows slated for this fall season on Broadway, as well as a few off Broadway.
Robert Downey Jr, Lincoln Center, "Pirates of Penzance, Linda Ronstadt, Tony Awards, Oscars, Hollywood, Broadway, George Clooney, J LO, Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet", Patty LuPone, Mia Farrow, "Our Town", Town Hall, New York City, #Broadway Bob #No Bull With Raging Robert, www.broadwayworld.com, Booth Theatre, Nimbus Magazine, Dramatists Guild.

Hey just wanted to say that the work you do is really inspiring. I think the TTRPG community has needed an urban fantasy noir sort of thing for a little while and I really like the direction you're taking it in. Looking forward to stuff in the future!!
Tumblr media
Thank you! Basically all our projects come from a place of need, each one being something that we wanted to play ourselves, but either it just didn’t exist, or the people who did do it didn’t do it to our satisfaction.
Since it’s our blog we can toot our own horn a bit, and yeah, the TTRPG community did need Eureka. The whole idea originally came out of our dissatisfaction with investigation and mystery-solving gameplay in most of the other more well-known TTRPGs that attempt to tackle this genre, such as Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, and Gumshoe. They either make it too easy for bad dice rolls to get the party hopelessly stuck by relying too heavily of the PC’s skills, or make things difficult on the player by not giving the PC’s skills quite enough input, which can make efficient mystery solving very difficult across sessions with a whole week or more of real time in between them. (And it’s barely even worth mentioning that the most popular TTRPGs such as D&D5e and Pathfinder just plain cannot do investigative gameplay to any respectable degree at all.)
Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy’s Investigation Point and Eureka! Point system, whereby each skill check to investigate something fills a bar on the character sheet until the investigator gets a “Eureka!”, which can be spent to retroactively gain information from an investigation skill check that they previously failed, as well as many other specific rules that are too nuanced to go into here but that you can read about in the free version of the rulebook, are part of our answer to that. As you are putting the pieces together in your own mind, so is your character, and this system acts as a failsafe, but not a crutch, to prevent a single bad dice roll from leaving the party totally twisting in the wind.
And I personally have always been really autistic about folklore, which is where Eureka’s unique approach to playable monsters comes in. No RPG had ever really done certain monsters to my satisfaction, particularly vampires. Folkloric vampires have a great deal of quirks and weaknesses that usually get cut from any sort of vampire media because they’re too “silly,” but I disagree. I want them all, and so when a monster is playable in Eureka, it’s its own unique experience, unlike playing anything else in any other game or even within Eureka. (I am very, very proud to say that a number of V:TM veterans have said that Eureka does vampires much better than V:TM itself.)
Not every playable monster in Eureka is 100% strictly folkloric, which was a bit of a struggle for me, but ultimately the small exceptions that were made make the RPG better, so I can’t complain, especially because we managed to weave some pretty cool themes into all of them, which I will touch on more when I finally get finished writing that big huge post about, well, Eureka’s themes.
Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy is kickstarting from right now until May 10th! Back it while you still can!
