Eunos Cosmo Type E, 1990. The only series production car to be powered by a triple-rotor Wankel engine, the E (Elegant) version was the luxury flagship and was the most expensive car Mazda has ever marketed. It was also the first car to come with a built-in GPS navigation system. It remained a Japanese market only car though some have subsequently been exported. The 276hp 20B-REW engine was limited to 180 km/h (111.8 mph) to comply with Japanese regulations, but was capable of 255 km/h (158.4 mph) unrestricted.

Mazda Eunos Cosmo E20B 1990

The latest generation of Cosmo was introduced in 1990. The new version was sold as Eunos, which represented Mazda’s luxury brand. The car used the JC platform and was the top car of the range of the brand.

It was the only Mazda car with the Wankel three-rotor 20B-REW engine and twin turbocharger; it was also produced with the 13B-REW twin-rotor engine, always with twin turbochargers. The 20B-REW engine had a cylinder of 1,962 cm3, the highest ever used on a Wankel, and produced 300 horsepower.

The Eunos Cosmo was a car with 2+2 body and it had numerous innovative servo mechanisms. Among these included the automatic transmission with four reports to electronic control. 8,875 copies of Eunos Cosmo were produced until September 1995, when its production was discontinued.
