So, I've seen several questions about this, so I'm gonna try to do my best to share my explanation of the:
THREE FLIGHTS AND ONE FERRY RIDE LATER
FIRST IF ALL: THE DESTINATION
Port Townsend is a city, located at the Quimper Peninsula, in the Jefferson County, Washington, USA.
There's several ways to get there, and one of them is by ferry, in the following map, you can see the geographical location, and the ferry route (Coupeville – Port Townsend).
Now, let's go back to the start!
FROM LONDON TO WASHINGTON (THREE FLIGHTS, I GUESS)
Here, the questions are not about the route, but the money. For a lot of people, the logical and immediate answer is that Crystal used her powers to get into an airplane, but I think is plausible that she didn't use them exactly to avoid paying, and if she did, she felt very guilty about it (I'm gonna explain this later).
What is certain is that she used her powers to avoid security and registration at the airport (all the airports), because there was no way a minor was leaving the country, or jumping from one jurisdiction to another without documentation, a passport or an ID.
About the route, there's a lot of options here, but if I believe Crystal didn't use her powers to avoid paying for the tickets, is simply because there were better options than taking three flights, and if she was going to stole the tickets anyway, why no choosing a direct flight? Or at least, a faster one?
I mean that could have saved her a lot of trouble, because going from one airport to another with Charles and Edwin quarreling around her is not exactly the definition of a holiday vacation.
I'm sure she would have chosen any flight that could take her to Washington the fastest, the thing is that she didn't.
She got into a flight with two connections, and secured herself a headache too, so I guess she used the money she had on her, or most logically, her money + the money from the agency (let's give the boys some credit, at the end of the day, they're good at their job, and they care about getting paid).
Now, the route could have been something like this (based on a real flight itinerary):
London, GB -> Frankfurt International, DE
Frankfurt International, DE -> Calgary Intl Airport, CA
Calgary Intl Airport, CA -> Seattle Tacoma Airport, US
[I'm using ISO 3166 country codes, instead of the airports abbreviations]
Which translates into:
First flight: 1 hour and 30 minutes (+1h 30min)
First layover: 2 hours (+2h)
Second flight: 10 hours (+10h)
Second layover: 5 hours (+5h)
Third flight: 2 hours (+2h)
All of these sums up 20 hours and 30 minutes of dealing with Bert and Ernie, without a possible escape.
But the point is, that there are faster routes; a direct flight, or even a flight with only one connection, has a duration of 14 hours or less and is only €100 more than the journey of nightmares I just described, so why did she pick the longer flight if she wasn't going to pay anyway? quality time with the boys? weren't they supposed to be in a hurry?
Obviously, is possible that the flight they took was the first available, or even that they took a flight to a different state, and then travelled within the US, but in either case, I'm sure they didn't pick the fastest route available and the only reason for that is the price of the plane tickets.
Additionally to that, Crystal didn't have much money left to pay for rent when they arrived, and she was the most worried about getting money out of the cases all the season.
FROM SEATTLE TO PORT TOWNSEND: WE'RE ALMOST THERE.
There's no direct way to get from the airport to Port Townsend, they need to get to the ferry terminal in Coupeville first.
Don't worry, is not that hard to get from Seattle to Coupeville, is a two-hour bus ride and the buses leave relatively often, and you can take one from the airport.
So, here we are, back at the beginning. Welcome to Port Townsend, you will surely be enchanted by its beautiful Victorian architecture and the witch kidnapping little girls.
Isn't it the coolest small town ever?
FINAL NOTE:
Clearly, I just did this for fun, but if it is helpful for some of you, that's great!
Doing this also made me think about some headcanons, and I'm gonna be analysing them for the next three business days.

Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983) A film that was almost instantly forgotten when it was released just days before ‘Return of the Jedi’ hit theaters. It was the one of the last movies to use 3D as a marketing gimmick to get audiences into seats. I was 9 years old when I saw it and I loved it. Adult me? *shrugs shoulders* It’s ok. The stills I took (from a digitized VHS copy) where meant to give you a flavor of what the movie is like. The plot is as bare bones at a plot can get and the world building is severely undercooked. It all goes something like this: a luxury space ship suffers from some catastrophic space event that forces passengers to abandon ship. Three of those passengers land on Terra XI, a planet that was devastated by some kind of virulent plague and has become a kind of post-apocalyptic hellscape. Bounty hunter/mercenary Wolff (Peter Strauss) receives a “broadcast” about the stranded passengers and sets out to retrieve them and collect the reward of “3,000 Mega Credits.” Soon after arriving on Terra XI, while trying to rescue the three passengers, they are abducted by agents working for the local tyrant Overdog (Michael Ironside). Wolff decides to head off to free the women from Overdog and, along the way, runs into Niki (Molly Ringwald) and Wolff’s former colleague Washington (Ernie Hudson). The story is a loose narrative of episodic action sequences involving strange creatures and weird people that are given almost no clarification as to who they are or why they do what they do. It is briefly mentioned that Overdog was once a scientist named McNabb who was sent to Terra XI to combat the plague (with two other scientists) but no explanation is given as to why they became tyrants or why they started experimenting on the Terra XI’s population. I guess that’s all the narrative the creators thought was necessary (this movie did come out in the wake of ‘Mad Max II: The Road Warrior’ and that movie is almost purely action with hardly a plot to drive it so..) This was Molly Ringwald’s second film and the score was composed by Elmer Bernstein (who also composed the music for ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘The Magnificent Seven’ to name two). The 3D-effects are as clunky as one might suspect. The overall effects (some of the miniature work is by legendary ‘Terminator’ animator Pete Kleinow) and production design (which is doing most of the heavy lifting here) are a mixed bag of competent execution and outright jankiness. Overall, it’s one of those modestly budgeted science fiction films from the 80s that didn’t hit it big, barely raked in a profit, and quickly faded into obscurity. It’s worth one watch if you’ve never seen it. And, should you have any desire to put this movie into your brain, you can do so here (this might be a better quality copy than my digital VHS transfer). Oh, what folk have gabbed about the movie over at letterboxd.

The names of over 240,000 people who lost their lives during the Battle of Okinawa are inscribed on wavelike concentric arcs of black granite slabs [at the Cornerstone of Peace monument]. Ernie’s name, along with those of 14,008 other Americans who were killed, is no more prominently displayed than those of the nearly 150,000 Okinawans—close to half of the island’s prewar population—or the 110,000 Japanese soldiers who lost their lives. Military and civilian. Allied and Axis. It doesn’t matter. Everyone who lost their lives is treated equally. It’s the only war memorial I’ve ever visited where all sides of the conflict are represented, without judgement, side by side. The Cornerstone of Peace, not unlike the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington, DC, does not speak to the righteousness of the cause or to the courage of the sacrifice it required. The 116 slabs of stone speak to something simpler. They say: This is what it cost.

Washington!Series Part Nine: Anytime, Anyplace - Captain Joe Milius x Reader
Tagging: @crazy4chickennuggets @kmc1989 @oureternalbond @witches-unruly-heart @shhoooketh @greenies-green @thandesa91 @atomic-art-dragon @irishavengersassemble @factualfic @mydarkestsecretlol @burningpeachpuppy
Washington Series:
Part One: Washington - You and Joe spend the night together before he leaves for Washington.
Part Two: Positive - You call Joe for the first time in two months.
Part Three: Tonight (NSFW) - You and Joe get reaquainted after two months apart.
Part Four: Family - Joe finds out your secret.
Part Five: Distance - Joe finds the distamce challenging when he misses your first sonogram.
Part Six: Kicking - Joe feels his baby kick for the first time.
Part Seven: Charlie 1 - Charlie 1 shows up on your doorstep.
Part Eight: The Right One - Joe wonders if he's the right one for you.
Noah Joseph Milius is born in the conference room of your workplace, one week before your due to date. It’s your last day and you’re in the middle of working a case when he decides to make his appearance.
The problem is the majority of the island is currently experiencing a black out due to a ransomware attack on the power grid, so all of the emergency services are slammed.
Of all the scenarios you and Joe have planned for this is not one of them.
Joe’s been back in Hawaii for over two months by this point and has treated preparations for the new baby like a military operation. You’ve enjoyed having him around over the past few months, the pregnancy has been tough during the third trimester. You’re heavier than you expected, less agile and Joe has been picking up the slack.
You’re fortunate that the medical examiner Commander Carla Chase is still on site otherwise Ernie would have been delivering the baby in the breakroom and you’re not sure your friendship would have survived that.
It’s two hours into the labour that Joe makes it back to Pearl. He’s been fielding the relief operation since the power grid went down. He may have missed most of the milestones throughout your pregnancy, but he refuses to miss the birth. He’s with you throughout the duration, supporting, cajoling, motivating until his son enters the world, wailing.
When he holds Noah for the first time, he looks at you with tears in his eyes because he never imagined the turn his life would have taken when you met. His forehead comes to rest against yours as he cradles the baby close.
“Thank you.” He whispers. “Thank you for giving me this.”
***
It’s a month later that you find the package on your doorstep. You’re coming back from a walk on the beach with Joe, Noah asleep in the stroller when you stumble upon the sky-blue hat box with a shiny gold bow on top. There’s no delivery note, or shipping label. It’s clear that it’s just been dropped off.
“Who’s it from?” Joe asks when the two of you are in the house.
He has Noah cradled in the crook of his arm, a bottle in his hand as the baby guzzles the milk. He’s taken to fatherhood the same way he takes to everything else, with enthusiasm and dedication. Having a baby has been an eye-opening experience for the both of you.
You suddenly have this tiny creature who is dependant on you for everything and at times you find it terrifying, however Joe is always there, a steadying presence when you start to have doubts. Being a father comes as naturally to him as breathing.
You reach into the box and remove a teddy bear dressed in a tiny Hawaiian shirt and a pair of it’s very own aviators.
“I guess Charlie finally decided to reach out,” You say before withdrawing a box of Cuban cigars and a bottle of top shelf bourbon. It’s your brand, the same one he brought over the last time he dropped by. “I suppose we should be thankful he didn’t break in this time.”
Charlie had an irritating habit of turning up in places that he shouldn’t. You’d come home a few times in the past to find him sitting in the armchair, a half-eaten sandwich on the table and a bottle of beer in his hand. You knew you weren’t the only one it happened to.
You recognise the gesture for what it is. Charlie’s way of saying he’s done trespassing in your life because things have changed, you have a partner now, a baby. He respects that.
Joe sets the bottle down before using the corner of the towel he has slung over his shoulder to clear the milk that’s dribbled out of Noah’s mouth.
You pick up the card from the bottom of the box, it looks like one of the ones from the gas station a few blocks over. Its glossy and cheap with a picture of a stork on the front. You open it to find a phone number scrawled on the inside with the words.
“Anytime, anyplace.”
Love Joe ? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

Aca Top 10: Disney Sidekicks — VoicePlay music video
youtube
Triumph often requires teamwork. Disney heroes take big risks and achieve great things, but they wouldn't get very far without their trusty sidekicks. Whether they're providing a pep talk, sage advice, or a simple moment of comic relief, those supporting characters are among the most cherished by fans. So grab a buddy and enjoy this medley of feel-good songs.
Details:
title: Aca Top 10 – Disney Sidekicks
original songs / performers: [0:20] "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio (1940); [0:34] "Be Our Guest" by Jerry Orbach as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast (1991); [0:52] "Heigh-Ho" by the cast of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937); [1:02] "Hakuna Matata" by Nathan Lane as Timon, Ernie Sabella as Pumba, & Jason Weaver as Simba in The Lion King (1994); [1:14] "Bare Necessities" by Phil Harris as Baloo & Bruce Reitherman as Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967); [1:33] "Under the Sea" by Samuel Wright as Sebastian in The Little Mermaid (1989); [1:52] "In Summer" by Josh Gad as Olaf in Frozen (2013); [2:22] "Chim Chim Cher-ee" by Dick Van Dyke as Burt in Mary Poppins (1964); [2:41] "You're Welcome" by Dwayne Johnson as Maui in Moana (2016); [3:01] "Friend Like Me" by Robin Williams as the Genie in Aladdin (1992)
written by: "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Leigh Harline & Ned Washington; "Be Our Guest" by Howard Ashman & Alan Menken; "Heigh-Ho" by Frank Churchill & Larry Morey; "Hakuna Matata" by Elton John & Tim Rice; "Bare Necessities" by Terry Gilkyson; "Under the Sea" by Alan Menken & Howard Ashman; "In Summer" by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez; "Chim Chim Cher-ee" by Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman; "You're Welcome" by Lin-Manuel Miranda; "Friend Like Me" by Howard Ashman & Alan Menken
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci, Eli Jacobson, & Layne Stein
release date: 10 August 2018
My favorite bits:
Geoff's intro narration, and the other guys' reactions
the rising harmonies on ♫ "they will come to" ♫
giving "Heigh-Ho" a little "Hip Hop Hooray" flavor
J.None taking over the bass line while Geoff sings lead for "Bare Necessities"
Eli and Earl singing ♫ "settle down now" ♫ instead of "rest at ease" with two different connotations — Eli: "Take a nice break." Earl: "Calm down, dude."
J's saucy little ♫ "Uh oh!" ♫ in "Under the Sea"
that pitch perfect Olaf impression from Eli ☃️
🥕 ♫ "a-buh-buh-buh Mountain Dew" ♫ 🥕
Layne's michievous expression after Geoff swipes his carrot
the back row swaying in time to "Chim Chim Cher-ee"
Earl's affronted expression when J starts singing Maui's part
those horn hits from Eli and Earl 🎺
Layne retaliating for the carrot theft by recreating the Genie's raspberry toward Geoff
Trivia:
○ VoicePlay had previously recorded several of the songs included in this medley, mostly on their Disney-centric album, "Once Upon an Ever After".
"When You Wish Upon a Star" is the second-to-last track on "OUaEA", and moseys through several fun rhythmic variations.
"Be Our Guest" is the opening segment of their Beauty and the Beast medley, Tale As Old As Time. They also made a short video for it, which was one of the earliest on their YouTube channel.
"Hakuna Matata" is part of The King Has Returned, a Lion King medley.
"Friend Like Me" is the closing portion of their Aladdin medley, Diamond in the Rough. It's also the first non-promotional video on the VoicePlay YouTube channel after their name change.
"You're Welcome" was included in their "Moana medley" with Rachel Potter the year before.
○ Since this video was released, the guys have recorded newer versions of a few more songs.
An excerpt of "Under the Sea" was included in their "Little Mermaid medley" with Rachel Potter.
They got back to their roots for a barbershop tag of "When You Wish Upon a Star" in the summer of 2023.
Geoff made a multi-tracked version of "Bare Necessities" as the first music video on his personal channels in 2020.
○ The YouTube description asserts that "No carrots were harmed in the making of this video. Except that one. That one was hurt over and over and over and over…" 😆
○ The guys are once again all wearing thematically appropriate shirts.
Eli — Timon the meerkat from The Lion King with his hands on his hips, in front of a white striped circle with a teal border and "nope" in teal letters beneath
Earl — silhouette of Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy composed of the words "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all" in blue text with his crest in red
J.None — tall white letters reading "lit" with a gold outline of Lumiere the candelabra from Beauty and the Beast striking a dramatic pose
Geoff — Olaf the snowman from Frozen floating in a lake with "chillin'" in white letters beneath
Layne — classic Mickey Mouse and Pluto posing together, with Mickey's arm around Pluto's shoulders
○ This is the second in a mini-series within their "Aca Top 10" series, which was preceded by "Disney Heroes" the previous autumn, and followed by "Disney Villains" the next spring.
○ Geoff, Earl, & J.None's selfie posing was caught on video & posted to Twitter.
○ The guys also took individual selfies with their pal Rek who was doing production work behind the scenes.
○ The inclusion of Olaf's song resulted in many carrot-based shenanigans during the filming. Little did they know it would be the beginning of a running joke that persists to this day, particularly when J comes back to town.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Richard Attenborough, Ingrid Bergman, my cousin-in-law Janice Brenneman, Kyle Cook (Matchbox 20), Chris Copping (Procol Harum), Reuben Councill, Charles Finney, Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Diamanda Galás, Elliott Gould, Carla Gugino, Dick Halligan, Fred Holland, Michael Jackson, Nathan Ernie Lashlee, David Lim, John Locke, Tony MacAlpine, Bennie Maupin, John McCain, Sterling Morrison, Me'Shell Ndegéocello, Oasis 1994 DEFINITELY MAYBE album, Mao Oz, Wilhelm Hieronymus Pachelbel, Charlie Parker, Liam Payne (One Direction), Pebbles, Iggy Pop’s 1977 LUST FOR LIFE album, Cliff Richard’s 1958 “Move It!” single, Vivien Thomas, Consuelo Velázquez, Vishal, Dinah Washington, and my friend and early career mentor, composer-keyboardist-trombonist-vocalist Bob Hogins. He made his mark in the 1970s San Francisco music scene, most visibly with Harvey Mandel, Buddy Miles, and Santana. I met Bob after he’d turned his life over to God and devoted himself to classical and contemporary Christian music projects. He compelled me to up my game in musical discipline and expand myself as a bassist and singer.
From 1981-87 I played with Bob almost weekly in an eclectic church worship group. We fanned out into recording, pop-rock musicals, and playing in gospel vocal groups that shared bills with Zoe, a Grateful Dead spin-off w/Donna Godchaux and David MacKay (Ark, Michael Nesmith). As I worked with Bob in various projects, he introduced me to Buddy Miles, Pat Craig (Tazmanian Devils), Frank Souza, Marcus Uzilevsky, and other talents who’d affect my career in varying degrees. I feel indebted to Bob as a talented, warm-hearted musician, and great teacher.
Regrettably I do not have at hand any recordings of work Bob and I did, but here’s one of my favorite tracks that Bob played some sizzling organ on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_tgfWBHdig ...Meanwhile, HB BH and thank you for your amazing contributions to all of us.

Summary:
Skull wasn't really sure which was worse--the not being able to recall anything after having his second sip of the overly sugary beverages they were serving at the rave he went to with most of his year in the abandoned warehouse district; or waking up in a hospital room without any of his clothes, wearing a hospital gown, wrists in soft restraints, and Matthew Fucking Cook asleep in the chair beside the bed. Though he quickly decided that both were equally awful in the aftermath of Matt jolting up at Skull trying to clear his throat, finding his voice knackered, and the poor jock trying to address the questions in Skull's eyes after untying him and getting him a water. His head was throbbing and there was a little tinnitus betwixt his ears, but he did understand, "Billy freaking out," and "Found on a back road, face down in a ditch," and "Freaked out when they so much as touched your arm," and "Billy convinced Bulk to help him find your phone instead of sitting here scaring the nurses and doctors." Eugene didn't feel much shame when he lifted up the blanket the hospital had given him and stuck a hand down to find gauze and medical tape in two unfortunate places. So, here he was again.

November NoveList Challenge
For this month's challenge, give thanks and read a book about chosen family or family gatherings! For more recommendations, be sure to check out NoveList - all you need is your library card!
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate.
I'm Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I'd killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it's a little more complicated than that.
Have I killed someone? Yes. I have.
Who was it?
Let's get started.
This is the first volume of the "Ernest Cunningham" series.
Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman
When Laura Costello moves to Los Angeles, trying to escape an overprotective family and the haunting memories of a terrible accident, she doesn’t expect to be homeless after a week. (She’s pretty sure she didn’t start that fire - right?) She also doesn't expect to find herself adopted by a rogue bookseller, installed in a lovely but completely illegal boardinghouse, or challenged to save a losing trivia team from ignominy… but that’s what happens. Add a regretful landlady, a gorgeous housemate, and an ex-boyfriend determined to put himself back in the running and you’ll see why Laura isn’t really sure she’s cut out for this adulting thing. Luckily for her, her new friends Nina, Polly, and Impossibly Handsome Bob aren't sure either, but maybe if they put their heads (and hearts) together they’ll be able to make it work for them.
This is the second volume of "The Bookish Life of Nina Hill" series.
The Monsters We Defy by Leslye Penelope
In the summer of 1925, along Washington, DC’s “Black Broadway”, a malevolent entity has begun preying on Negro residents. Twenty-three-year-old Clara Johnson is determined to discover what’s going on in her community. Using her natural ability to talk with spirits, she begins to investigate, but a powerful spirit tasks her with a difficult quest: steal an ancient, magical ring from the finger of a wealthy socialite.
When Clara meets Israel Lee, a supernaturally enhanced jazz musician also vying for the ring, the two decide to work together. They put together an unlikely team including a former circus freak, a pickpocketing Pullman Porter, and an aging vaudeville actor to pull off an impossible heist.
But a dangerous spirit interferes at every turn and conflict in the spirit world is leaking out into the human world. With different agendas, even if Clara and Israel pull off the heist, only one of them can truly win.
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
Twelve-year-old Bird Gardner lives a quiet existence with his loving but broken father, a former linguist who now shelves books in a university library. Bird knows to not ask too many questions, stand out too much, or stray too far. For a decade, their lives have been governed by laws written to preserve “American culture” in the wake of years of economic instability and violence. To keep the peace and restore prosperity, the authorities are now allowed to relocate children of dissidents, especially those of Asian origin, and libraries have been forced to remove books seen as unpatriotic - including the work of Bird’s mother, Margaret, a Chinese American poet who left the family when he was nine years old.
Bird has grown up disavowing his mother and her poems; he doesn’t know her work or what happened to her, and he knows he shouldn’t wonder. But when he receives a mysterious letter containing only a cryptic drawing, he is pulled into a quest to find her. His journey will take him back to the many folktales she poured into his head as a child, through the ranks of an underground network of librarians, into the lives of the children who have been taken, and finally to New York City, where a new act of defiance may be the beginning of much-needed change.
