Journey to Colombia 4: #SanFranciscoAirport is a nice modern place but what I loved is it’s collection of artworks by local artists, collected since the mid-70s (when I suppose the airport was first redeveloped). What particularly stopped me in my tracks was this wonderful evocation of San Fran’s steep streets: 18th Street Downgrade, 1978, by the then 58-yo Wayne Thiebauld. Back in the 90s my ex & I ‘babysat’ an art collection of a friend-of-a-friend’s while they went overseas for a year or so; my favourite was a sensational 70s painting of a San Fran hill cityscape - now I know who the artist was! 💝 Other artists include: Carlos Loarca 1978, Robert Bechtle 1979, James Torlakson 1976, Eric Staller 2014, Merge 2014, Amy Ellingson 2015, Ursula von Rydingsvard 2015. Artist research: Eric Staller
Eric Staller is an American artist and photographer that has commonly been referred to as the father of Light graffiti in its modern form. Light graffiti/photography is a method in which art can be made within a photograph by slowing down the shutter speed and allowing the camero to process the light being taken in. I myself found the process rather challenging and tedious as even the slightest movement from the subject would create a blurred image.

Welcome to the phandom!!! Here is the fullest list I could come up with of every phantom you could encounter out there and a snippet of their personality (except for adaptations I haven’t seen)
(No pressure to read the whole thing btw, if you just wanna know who the main boys are they re at the top :D)
Main phantoms (the ones you’ll see referenced most often):
Leroux!Erik or Lerik: original 1909 novel by Gaston Leroux. He’s the classic, creepy and misunderstood, he’s a commentary on society’s treatment of anyone outside of the norm. One of the most fucked up phantoms tbh. Refers to himself in the third person. But rly he’s just a funny little man :D
Lon Chaney Erik or Lerik: 1925 silent film. A really faithful adaptation except for the overly dramatic hollywood ending. Mostly the same as the book.
Merik or Musical!Erik: ALW musical phantom, usually based on Ramin karimloo s performance in the 25th anniversary recordings but other popular actors include Hugh Panaro, Micheal Crawford and more. A much more romantic and seductive phantom than the adaptations that came before.
Gerik: 2004 film adaptation of ALW s musical starring Gerard Butler. He’s buff, not that ugly, and a bit of a drama queen.
Cherik or Dance!Erik: 1990 miniseries starring charles dance, based on a musical by yeston and kopit (which I’m not putting as a separate Erik since they’re so similar). By all means the sweetest cinnamon roll phantom out there. He likes picnics, is a ginger and doesn’t pretend to be an angel to trick Christine. He must be protected at all costs.
Kerik or Kay!Erik: Novel by Susan Kay. It’s basically a published fanfic of a biography of the phantom s life. This Erik is very fandom based, he’s hot, troubled and ✨the main character✨ tm. This novel is very often used when referencing erik’s backstory in the phandom, also the reason “the persian” is often called Nadir Khan.
Winslow or Bird!Erik: 1974 film phantom of paradise. It’s a very funky musical comedy/horror adaptation set in a nightclub. The phantom wears a weird bird helmet/mask.
MazM Erik: 2018 MazM mobile game. He has long flowy hair, is really fucking creepy and insane (but still a sweety in my heart)
Jerik or Rat!Erik: 1998 film Il fantasma dell’opera. Ah the infamous rat phantom. Haven’t seen this version but all I know is Erik has a weird relationship with rats, he s not disfigured and is generally considered the weirdest one of the bunch.
Hana or Takarazuka!Erik or Erika: female version of the phantom from the Japanese production of the yeston and kopit musical by the all female theatre troupe takarazuka. Quite similar to Cherik, she’s a sweety, but also hilarious and scary and I love her.
Destler or Englund!Phantom: 1989 horror movie. He’s a classic slasher, played by non-other than Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger). The adaptation that introduced the last name Destler, which is generally accepted in the fandom as Erik’s last name.
Erique or ClaudeRains!Erik: 1943 film. Haven’t seen it but from what I ve heard: ✨composer gets splashed with acid and goes insane✨, also he has weird dad vibes maybe?
Niche phantoms:
Prof Petrie: 1962 horror film
Monster in Paris: 2011 animated film, the phantom is a giant flea lookin monster, i havent seen it but by all accounts it’s a really sweet film
Animated Erik: 1987 children’s film, terrible animation, very funny, so bad it’s kinda good
Staller phantom: 1991 musical starring david staller, good actor, terrible musical, the song perfect music slaps tho
Kenneth Hill phantom: 1976 musical (which predates ALW’s musical!!!). I’ve heard a couple songs from this musical, very cool tbh, plus the first instance of a black actor playing the phantom I believe?
Phantom of the mall (Eric): 1989 film. He’s a high schooler I think? Also like a jock?? He lifts weights??? Wtf is going on here????
Honorable mentions (I’ve seen these here and there but they re so incredibly niche):
1930 oswald and the lucky rabbit short, Korvin Phantom: 1983 film, There’s a few more niche video game adaptations such as a point and click game but frankly they re quite hard to find.
A lot of really cool artists have also made little phantom guides that can help recognize the different Eriks like this one! (By @bowlersandtophats I believe?):
can anyone explain the differences between each erik for me? like the names people use / his personalities? i’m a lil confused seeing people using different ones lol
#sry if this list is a bit chaotic 😅 the phandom is a deeeeeep rabbithole#I haven’t even seen all the adaptations and I’ve been a fan for 4 years—#the phantom of the opera#erik phantom#poto#erik poto#phandom#phantom of the opera

Even though Hanukkah is over now, we'll continue our tour through Jewish Phantom History for a few more days.
Day 8. Most of the team of the 1991 comedy version of Phantom (including creators BruceFalstein, Lawrence Rosen and Paul Schierhorn as well as Phantom David Staller) were of Jewish descent.
The 1991 musical was created to highlight Erik’s (or Eric’s, as the musical spells it) more playful side as a naughty trickster. It was both liked and loathed by fans alike but even those that hated it enjoyed “Perfect Music”, the song in which Erik explains his drive to compose and compares it to his love for Christine.

Another typical Merlin, Jeanne, Qin Shi Huang. srsly these 3 does well in alot of challenge quests so far as I also used this team in yesterday against Nero Bride, Fionn, Napoleon.
Anyway I did end up losing half of my team during the last break bar, Then the bad card rng in turn 26 and 27 was annoying but the last turn give it enough to finish him off.
note: Eric Bloodaxe skill does fail at times so keep an eye out that when u have the opportunity to atk. Especially when someone dies or the np area.
I couldn’t think of anything else to do it with apart from my main who had the units to 3 turn Eric Blood Axe challenge quest easily.
Anyway if ur using the stalling method make sure u have taunters in the backline to take the hit for u if u lose any of ur frontline stallers.
#fate grand order#lily plays fate grand order#stall and taunt memes is a way to go again.#gil fest challenge quest 2019

Lighting up the dark research:
Here’s a few inspo images-
‘The constructed image within photography’
The constructed image is an image that is planned and then set up the way you planned it but then experimenting with different techniques and trying new things.
Whereas staged photography deals with the setting up of a scenario before clicking the image, constructed photography involves creation of a “revised” image which might include the use of multiple images
Eric staller:
Staller was born in 1947 and is from New York. He was well knows for his light painting photography. Eric’s Light Drawing series could be the very first Light Art Performance Photographs ever created. It could be argued that Man Ray’s “Space Writing” series were the first light art performance pieces but there is no doubt that Staller’s images such as Light Tubes, Happy Street, and Technicolor Torsos all envoke elements of performance art
American photographer Man Ray realized several shots using this technique . This complete artist, being part of the main figure of the Surrealist movement, may be considered the inventor of Light Painting.
Light painting, or light drawing, is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure.

Talk About Light
Harold Ross
This image is taken to almost look fake as all the items are clean with no marks. The colour scheme is silver and gold making the photography tie together and flow with no distracting colours. The use of negative space with the focal point in the centre creates a sense of balance. The circular table creates a leading line drawing the viewers eye across the photograph. The texture of the image is very smooth.
TTTThis image is very old looking which gives us lots of texture throughout the photograph. The objects are scattered across the image creating negative space both across the top and across the bottom of the image this creates a sense of balance as it’s not too crowded. The colour scheme is dark colour like brown, black and dark green this ties the photograph together with no distracting colours. Having no bright colours ties in with the era of which all the items are from.
Trevor Dixon
This photograph is very simplistic with a few items neatly placed on a piece of material. I enjoy the simplistic feel this photograph gives. With the dark colours of the items the contrasting cards placed in the image stand out this draws in the viewers as they will want to see what the images of the cards are of.
In this image a pattern Is created from the cutlery divider, this also creates leading lines throughout the photograph drawing the viewers eye throughout the image. The colour palette of this image is dark rust, brown, metal and also with a pop of yellow and red this works well in this image as it breaks down the photograph so it’s not all too distracting.
Painting with Light
Eric Staller
Eric is an American Photographer who works with light painting (light drawing). Erik uses sparklers to create unique images.
In this image Eric has used sparklers to create the outline of the car. By doing this Eric has create mechanical feel as the sparklers a corroded effect. Eric could have either toke this image in one go or had many different layers to the image to have this as his final image.
Janeonardo
Janeonardo is a self taught photographer who mainly works at night using various lighting techniques for his images.
In this image Janeonardo has used LED light to light up different football tops. Janeonardo has worked for major brands like nike and major sporting advents like Fifa for there advertising images.

Recycle - Pre-Production - Inspiration
Harold Ross
Harold Ross is an American fine art photographer who has been using the light painting techniques for 30 years, his work has been seen all over the world.
I really love the softness of his images, he can really create a painting effect with his techniques, I love this image for the colours as they really pop out from dark background, Harold can create a better look with light painting than if it was on film, he captures each and every individual image, and creates his final piece where it comes to life .
Allan Mendez
Allan is a photographer based in San Francisco he took a big interest in food photography and food styling, he studied in New York where he graduated for photography.
I really love the styling in the photo, everything has been set up to create a mood, you can almost smell this photo, there is this really soft light or almost dreamy painting effect which really fits, all the colours really go with each other the greens and reds, which are complimentary colours.
Eric Staller
Eric is a well known photographer for his light drawings, some would say he is the father of it, he was born in New York where he studied architecture, in 1976-1980 staller would walk around nigh time New York creating light paintings.
This was Eric’s first ever printed images, he used sparklers and had to run fast around the street as they don't last long, when he saw this image, this triggered his creativity for possibilities with light drawing.
I love how cinematic this image is, the tones, almost a orange and cyan feel most known for cinema colours, I just like how simple it is, not to complicated just this look of liquid fire around the street
Jan Leonardo
Jan is a photographer who focuses on another kind of light painting called light painting performance, this is choreographed light paintings, it creates more life to the photos, He creates quite complex light painting performances.
This photo was for a Tokyo motor show, and I really loves the colours and how he has created a bike out of light, its very like the movie Tron in my opinion, i love the contrast of the light from the darkness from the night and light painting really stands out
Dean Chamberlain
Dean has been a photographer since 1974, this was when he pursued a degree in fine art, dean was the first person to name the “light painting” technique, he was worked with some big celebrities like David Bowie.
A lot of his photos are really colour full and stand out, almost quite flat in areas, but filled in with colours, his photos almost have this trippy look to them
