hi winnie, if you were going to throw out all your makeup and start from scratch what would you get? if budget wasnt an issue
Hmmmmmmm id probably stick with my base products, tower 28 concealer and erborian bb cream. Everything else I might splurge on Make Beauty, Lisa Eldridge, or Makeup Forever things... I might try urban decay eyeliner and eyeshadows. For lip products I'd stick to Kbeauty or Jbeauty, maybe Amuse?

Now on the market for
A BB cream. The one I bought from Sephora earlier this year (Erborian) sucks. It's literally GREY
I've narrowed it down to Dr. Jart+, Rimmel Matte BB Cream and the Maybelline Pure Dream BB Cream. The former and the latter are sold in Portugal, and the latter is pretty affordable. I wanted to buy something cheap which I did not feel discouraged to use up, so as to use it every day and gain the habit of doing so
Also wanted to try the CoverGirl but it's not sold or shipped to here so forget about that

@erborian_uk is hands down my most used brand at the moment for skincare and makeup priming. Part of the @loccitane family, this k-Beauty brand has literally every product you could possibly think of. I’ve really started to get into using B.B. creams and have been using a lot lighter foundations to let my skin breathe while I’m suffering from breakouts so these BB Drops and BB Shot Mask have been helping to perfect my skin. I add a few drops of B.B. Drops to my daily moisturiser for a super light coverage which gives a poreless “baby skin” appearance and the B.B. Shot Mask helps enrich the skin and almost airbrushes my pores and makes my skin supple, smooth and silky. We’re both so keen to try more products from Erborian so let us know if you have any recommendations! 💕 . . . ⠀⠀ #erborian #facemask #sheetmask #clearskin #bbloggers #bbloggersuk #skincare #beauty #slaytheflatlay #skincareroutine #skincaremurah #skincareblogger #skin #beautyblogger #shelfie #organic #organicskincare #naturalskincare #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreeskincare #beautyblogger #beautybloggers #bbcream #babyskin #pores #tuesdaytreasures #kbeauty #kbeautyaddict #koreanbeauty (at Hertford, Hertfordshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnCWqsSDx1g/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5tz1gwymlex2

Summer time skin and make up reviews
Cushion compact
I’m always looking for ways to shave time off getting ready so when I saw this Innisfree Aqua fit cushion compact cushion compact that had spf 40, I was sold. I went to the Innisfree store in Union Square and got color matched by one of the associates with N21, Natural Beige. When trying it on, it went on quite nicely... weightless, seamless with light to medium coverage that is buildable. You have to purchase the case ($11), the actual cushion ($12) and the air magic puff ($3) separately. The total comes to $26 which isn’t terrible.
But the last few times I have used this, I have noticed pilling. It doesn’t seem to matter how well my face is moisturized or how I apply. I tried applying it with the puff, then go over my face with a damp beauty blender. I also tried the puff and blending out with a brush but still... the dreaded pilling. Not really sure what the issue is but this compact is not compatible with my combination skin. I continuously go back to my Erborian bb cream. So far I haven’t found anything to match my beloved.
Lightweight moisturizer
Dr. Jart and First Aid Beauty are a little too heavy for the heat and humidity in the summer. I switch to something lightweight for the warmer months and I picked up Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Pink Juice lotion $39. It’s one of my favorites... it’s lightweight and when applying it does feel a bit sticky but the stickiness goes away as it dries down. It feels hydrating and has a heavenly watermelon smell that isn’t overpowering. It’s honestly a delight to smell it as you put it on.
Sunscreen
The search for the perfect sunscreen is over. I’ve tried countless... Coola was good at first but it made me increasingly greasy looking as the day wore on, tried all different Neutragena sunblocks but some had a white cast, it felt really heavy on my skin, some made me breakout. Korean brand Hera was pretty good but it did still kinda heavy on the skin and it wasn’t readily available. Dr. Jart’s was okay but it left a bit of a white cast as well.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 $32 is a godsend. It’s a milky clear gel like texture, super lightweight... it’s weightless on the skin and it has this silky tacky finish similar to a primer finish. My bb cream goes on really well after I apply this sunscreen. When Sephora has their sale, I’ll be stocking up one these.
Lip gloss and eyeliner
When Rihanna dropped Fenty Beauty, I was curious about her offerings. I was impressed with the extremely wide selection of shades for her foundation but I wasn’t in the market for a foundation. Her match stix looked interesting but I don’t really do the contouring, highlighting, etc so I decided to skip that too. So I  went with a safe bet, her Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer $18. It’s a gorgeous rosy nude shade with a high gloss finish. I’m not really into lip color so I really like that this is 2 in 1 kind of deal for me. It’s sticky but not that annoying heavy sticky feeling.
I also picked up her liquid glitter eyeliner... I believe it might be sold out. I got the black with blue glitter... this is not for beginners. The brush is not easy to use. I did find that it’s far easier to use after I line my eyes with my Smashbox felt tip liner. After the product dries, you rub your eyeliner and that activates the glitter. The more you rub, the more pronounced the glitter becomes. It’s a fun eye look for concerts and festivals.

The eternal search... a tinted moisturiser or bb cream or cc cream that matches my skin tone exactly... I have high hopes for @erborian who claim the shades adjust to match. I already use their pink perfect crème as my primer so here's hoping 🤞🤞🤞. I also love the fact they sell smaller sizes which means you don't end up blowing loads of cash on trying them out. Yes, yes I know I can try out at the counter but I find it looks completely different by the time I'm home! Lovely Korean skincare at its best here... plus you get some samples too. Who doesn't love a freebie 😁. Anyone tried erborian?? . . . #skincare #tintedmoisturiser #bbcreme #bbcream #cccreme #cccream #erborian #koreanskincare #pinkperfect #primer #indianskin #tannedskin

My Secret 7 (11…) Tinted Moisturisers #6
My Secret 7 (11…) Tinted Moisturisers #6 What can you wear during the day that is not a foundation but is protecting your skin and giving you a glowing look?
Today we’re discussing CC creams and some of you might wonder what a CC cream actually is – Colour Corrector, Complete Corrector, Complexion Corrector? In the way I look at it, a CC cream should have an SPF in it and should make your skin more even.

Hi Winnie!
What's your natural makeup recommendations? And anything you think is Europhia makeupesque? Also did you try the Pale Fire Lip gloss. If so do you think it's worth it? Sorry for all the questions and have a nice day!
For natural makeup I'm obsessed with low coverage, dewy skin tints like the salt new York sneaky balm, or doing a light layer of the erborian bb cream.. cream blush (tower 28 beach please is my current jam), a little drugstore mascara, and a juicy liquid lip balm like the flower beauty CBD one... My highest recommendation for doing experimental Euphoria-esque makeup is to get a cake liner palette and some nail art brushes! I have a few cake liner palettes from Midas cosmetics, sadly they are going out of business, but Claropsyche makes a good one too!
Tumblr media
Also a good colorful eyeshadow palette so you can use line and shadow together. I have my eye on this one bc I love the BH cosmetics eyeshadow formula sm.
Tumblr media
I love to try to replicate the blown out, soft colorful eyeshadows looks like they did on Jules in season 1... I haven't tried the pale fire nectar lip gloss omg I still really want to!!! Honestly I've heard it's definitely worth it haha... Pat McGrath lipglosses are supposed to be Soo good!

Idk if I can relate at all but I’m 23 and I don’t wear any makeup at all…. And a reason for that is that in my formative years my self esteem was so low that I didn’t dare put any makeup on because I thought I looked like a boy or a pig with lipstick on and that I would be made fun of just for trying. And now I’m a full adult woman who has no idea how to deal with makeup!! And I feel like it’s so central and I missed out yk?? I don’t k where to start and o always feel rly dumb trying
Hi!! I think this is more common than you think. It's also totally normal to prefer your bare face, I actually think that's really cool, I love seeing women with bare faces it's honestly such a chic and youthful look!! I'm sorry to hear that you struggled with your self esteem, I can definitely relate to that though I was always interested in makeup. I think it's important that you feel no pressure to use it or try it, it seems central but that's for so many reasons that aren't important, like the expectation that you have to wear makeup is so stupid and not a good reason to do something you don't enjoy. I get the feeling you want to try it out though!! so I'd recommend trying a few easy to use products, like maybe a skin tint/bb cream (erborian bb cream is good, I also love salt new york sneaky balm), cream blush (salt new york or melt cosmetics cream blushlights are my favorite), and a wispy mascara like glossier lash slick... Maybe a comfy slippy lip gloss like tower 28 lip jelly! I promise these kinds of modern/high tech products will look natural and not cakey!

Glossier anon again! Just wanted to say your answer was really helpful. :) And that I love your style. Also to ask if you thought FutureDew was worth it and/or any Korean skincare recs since you mentioned that. Sorry for all the questions! I love talking beauty. Hope you're having a nice day!
Hi! No worries I love to talk beauty too and thank you :~) I actually love futuredew! It's a bit too heavy for me in the summer but it's my favorite winter primer, however the Maybelline 4 in 1 perfector does a similar thing without being as heavy (it's not heavy per se just very nourishing and has a presence on the skin). To me futuredew has the effect of doing a sheet mask and squeezing the extra liquid out of the pack and slathering that on, I truly love the feeling. For Korean skincare basically I try to follow a basic Korean routine of oil cleansing, essence, serums, sunscreen and moisturizer. Right now I use banila co clean it zero cleansing balm and when my skin is less irritated I follow with Dr jart microfoam cleanser. My favorite essence is may coop raw sauce but I can't find it at the lower price I used to buy it at so I replaced it with hanskin hylauron essence and it's very nice, raw sauce is hg tho. Cosrx makes really good essences too! For serums I just look around on sokoglam for reasonably priced well reviewed things, right now I use a propolis ampoule from Elensilia-cpp and I really like it. Laneige is a brand that I never really bought from until recently, they are more expensive as well as more accessible in the US (sold at Sephora) but I got a Sephora birthday gift with some of their stuff in it earlier this year and fell in love, so now I use their water bank cream, their lip masks, and most recently their cica repair sleeping mask which is like a heavy night cream that stays wet and occlusive all night long. I am so obsessed with it- I love how clear and even my skin looks in the morning and the container it came in is luxurious and huge. Most importantly for Korean skincare is to know where to shop bc US retailers love to jack up the prices on things sometimes (looking at you, Ulta)- Masksheets.com has been a recent discovery of mine, they sell laneige and tons of other Korean products at a significant discount. If you're a sheet mask addict like I am you'll love the site bc you can buy cheap singles from all kinds of interesting brands- my favorite ones rn are the jayjun cosmetics intensive shining mask and I've never heard of them before now. Other than that I use sokoglam! Also I love the brand Erborian for bb or cc creams :-)

yeah I mostly just use my fingers and a sponge for makeup now but yes I have a few brushes that I’ve used a lot for years and they show no sign of quitting! thanks for the advice on the concealer- I think the method you’re describing is what I do too 😢 that concealer is just impossible to use, I’ve decided! maybe I’ll try the one you recommended next, is it good for covering spots? that’s all I want it for
The brightening concealer is better for undereyes or an area that is redder (and therefore darker on pale skin) than covering a spot! I've heard really good things about the kosas and pat McGrath concealers but man are they expensive. tbh I just use my heaviest bb cream to cover blemishes bc it's very effective- it's the erborian bb cream and it's shockingly high coverage if you build it up, sheered out it's also a fantastic base. I also will deploy an illuminating/color correcting primer if I'm trying to hide blemishes, I love the Maybelline age rewind glowy thing that comes with the sponge thing on top, if I start with it I can wear way less base to cover any redness. Hope this helps!!! I think elf makes a green primer that people like for this purpose as well
