i'm giggling and kicking my feet for elend & vin. vin's inner monologue is like "i want to say something smart. but ladies wouldn't do that." and elend is like "i know how smart you are, please stop pretending."

other than that there's no character i dislike, they're all awesome. i hope it stays this way.

Woah...Fluorite and Emerald fusion but in the old mural style. Even though the fusion wasn't a diamond, their authority was well enough to result in gems preserving their image well after their Emerald's shattering.

Reen is an objective piece of shit but I have a lot of sympathy for him.

Like imagine if you are growing up and realize just how dangerous a game your mom plays, she pretends to be a poor noble who is a prostitute but you know she’s is skaa. Your existence is a crime.

And as you get older you start to realize just how unstable she is, constantly muttering and seeing things that aren’t there.

You want to get away from her but you can’t leave your toddler little sister and new born little sister. So you try to scrap together money because you know that her current sugar daddy will leave or find out who she really is.

And then you get home one day to see your infant little sister ripped apart by your mother. And your mother now holding your other sister and having jammed a chunk of metal into her ear. You and your little sister are in danger, you have to get away from this woman who was supposed to love and protect you but has murdered her defenseless daughter and now proclaims the other a queen.

And as you go trying to raise a small child on your own she starts showing abilities. Abilities that you know will get her killed if she tells people about. Or will get her sold out by a crew if they find out.

What do you even do at that point? Vin was to young to remember it but Reen had to come home to find his mother a killer and insane. No wonder he taught vin to not trust anyone, he was forced to learn the only person they could count on, was not safe or trustworthy. He loved vin and he was an awful brother but he was likely traumatized by the sight of what his mother did and the fact that his sister had a target on her back. He reacted the wrong way but he tried to teach her to be safe. Did he do it in a way that was good? No he was abusive and cruel but what teachings did he have on how to be a good brother? If he failed in teaching her to be safe they’d both die.

And in the end he did get captured and was tortured to death. All while denying the inquisitor’s the knowledge Vin was alive to keep her safe.

He was a piece of shit but he was just as traumatized as vin.

Idk. Not trying to defend him but it’s interesting looking at how fucked up his childhood was and how it could have affected him.
