18+ Minors Do Not Interact!
Wyoming, 1963.
That summer, you were desperate for work, any work you could find. It didn’t matter what it was as long as it paid. One day, while nursing a drink in a rundown bar, you overheard a man named Joe Aguirre was hiring ranch hands to herd and watch over sheep up on Brokeback Mountain. Herding didn’t bother you much; nothing did, as long as there was money at the end of it.
Every now and then, when you passed a mirror or caught your reflection in a window, you couldn’t help but pause and take stock. A button-up shirt clinging to its last threads, an old coat that had seen better days, jeans worn thin and patched in places, and boots on the verge of giving out. You were holding it together, but just barely.
That’s how you found yourself outside Joe Aguirre’s trailer that morning, waiting to plead your case for the job. But you weren’t alone. Another young man was there, leaning against the side of the trailer like he’d been born to blend into the rugged landscape.
His face spoke of hard labor, the kind that wore a person down in quiet ways, weathered skin stretched over high cheekbones and a strong jawline. His tanned complexion bore the mark of long days spent under the sun, while his hazel-brown eyes carried a distant, guarded expression, as though they had learned to keep the world at arm’s length. His sandy blond hair was unkempt but practical, the kind that hadn’t seen a comb in days but suited him just fine.
His wiry, lean frame spoke of strength earned through relentless work, his posture slightly hunched, as if he carried burdens he rarely shared. He wore what seemed to be the uniform of the Wyoming plains: worn denim jeans, scuffed boots, a plaid shirt under a weathered jacket, and a dusty cowboy hat that looked like it had seen as much of the world as he had. Nothing about him seemed showy or deliberate, yet there was something about his quiet presence that drew your attention.
That was the day you met Ennis Del Mar.
Joe Aguirre wasn’t one for beating around the bush. He laid it all out plain and simple, what he needed from the both of you and what he expected in return. You nodded, agreed, and that was that.
When you stepped out of the trailer, you paused just outside the door, feeling the other man’s presence as he followed behind. Turning to face him, you held out your hand.
“Y/N L/N,” you said, offering a friendly smile.
“Ennis. Ennis Del Mar,” he replied, gripping your hand firmly. His voice was low, steady, and it sent an unexpected shiver down your spine the moment his rough palm met yours.
“Well, Ennis Del Mar,” you said, trying to keep your tone light, “reckon you and I are ‘bout to get to know each other real well.”
An understatement, if there ever was one.
The day you loaded up the dogs, horses, and supplies, you couldn’t stop your eyes from drifting to Ennis whenever you were sure he wasn’t looking. There was something magnetic about him, his quiet strength, his stoic demeanor. He was a mystery you couldn’t help but want to unravel, a man who made you curious about all the parts of him he kept hidden.
You gave your head a quick shake, trying to snap yourself out of it. You had a job to do, and you needed the money. There wasn’t room for distractions, not now. But damn, you thought, this was shaping up to be one hell of a long summer.
The trek up the mountain wasn’t too bad. Herding the sheep went smoother than you’d expected, thanks to the dogs and Ennis, who moved with the easy confidence of someone who’d done this plenty of times before. He handled himself so naturally that you couldn’t help but watch him as you rode behind, your gaze slipping his way more often than you meant it to, drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
With the sheep settled in the fields, you and Ennis set up camp nearby. Aguirre’s instructions were clear: one man was to stay at camp while the other slept near the sheep in a pup tent, no fire, no exceptions. Unfortunately, the job of commuting back and forth by horseback each morning and evening for breakfast and dinner fell to you.
After about a week, the constant trips were wearing on you, but strangely enough, seeing Ennis at the camp made it worth the trouble. He didn’t talk much, mostly small talk about the job or ranch life, but something about his quiet presence kept you coming back.
Still, he wouldn’t open up beyond the surface, and you found yourself hesitating in conversations, careful not to push too hard. You didn’t want to overwhelm him or scare him off, just the opposite, in fact. Maybe, you thought, a little whiskey by the fire could loosen both your nerves. It might just be the liquid courage you needed to break through that wall of his.
That night, just before you rode down for dinner, you made sure to tuck a bottle of whiskey into your saddlebag.
By the time you arrived, the sky was already darkening, and there was Ennis, sitting by the fire. A pot of something was simmering, probably soup or beans, and it smelled decent enough to make your stomach rumble. You felt a spark of excitement, this was it. You’d been thinking about how to get Ennis to loosen up all day, and tonight, you had a plan.
You dismounted your horse, pulled the whiskey bottle from the saddlebag, and made your way toward the fire.
When Ennis saw you approach with the bottle in hand, his eyes lit up brighter than you’d seen all trip.
“Been holdin’ out on me, have ya?” he asked with a dry chuckle, the first bit of humor you’d heard from him in a while.
You grinned and shook your head. “Nah, I just forgot I had it, if I’m bein’ honest.”
He scoffed, rolling his eyes slightly. “Yeah, I bet.”
A surge of hope warmed your chest. That was the most emotion you’d seen from him in days. Maybe you were finally getting through.
The two of you sat by the fire, sipping whiskey, but not enough to get drunk, just enough to take the edge off. Your plan was working. You started slow, talking about your family, your friends, and life back home, giving him just enough space to feel comfortable. And sure enough, Ennis began to let his guard down, piece by piece, sharing bits of his own story.
As much as you appreciated him finally opening up, his tale was a heavy one. He’d lost his parents, had to leave his brother’s place, and ended up here on Brokeback with you. You didn’t let it show, but you couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pity for the man, a life full of hardship, loss, and solitude.
But he was talking, and that was a victory in itself. He told you he was engaged to a woman named Alma Beers back home. You mentioned you weren’t involved with anyone, not at the moment anyway.
The conversation drifted, from the serious to the random, but it didn’t matter. This was the most stimulating night you’d had with the rugged cowboy, and you were genuinely enjoying it, just the two of you, the crackling fire, and the faint glow of the stars above.
It was getting late, well past midnight, and you knew you should be heading back to the sheep, but the thought of it just didn’t sit right. Maybe it was the whiskey, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that Ennis didn’t want you to leave either.
Ennis wasn’t just any man. He was an engaged man, and this whole thing was getting messier by the minute. Yet, there was something about the way his eyes lingered on you, the way he inched closer when he borrowed your lighter to light his smoke. You couldn’t help it. Ennis Del Mar was messing with your mind, and you couldn’t seem to get him out of your head.
You took a slow breath and shifted in your seat.
"Guess I best be headin’ out to the sheep, see ya in the mornin’," you said, starting to stand. But before you could make it, a strong hand gripped your shoulder, gently but firm, pulling you back down.
You looked to the side, and there he was, eyes locked on you, that look, the one that twisted your insides and stirred something deep inside you. You didn’t know how to stop it, how to fight it.
“It’s late,” he said, his voice low and quiet, his gaze flicking to the tent. “Might as well stay here. Plenty o' room for both of us. Ain’t no sense in makin’ the trip just to come back in the mornin’ for breakfast.”
Your heart raced in your chest. Stay with him? You didn’t think you could do it.
“Yeah, alright. Thanks,” you muttered, barely able to get the words out.
So, that’s just what you did. The fire burned out, and soon enough, you found yourself in a small tent with Ennis. Your bodies brushed against each other now and then, his heat radiating off him like a furnace. It felt good, but you had to force your mind to think about anything other than the way he made you feel.
You lay on your side, back to him, eyes closed, but sleep wouldn’t come. Your body was too restless, too aware of his presence so close behind you.
Then, out of nowhere, you jumped when you heard Ennis clear his throat, breaking the silence between you.
“You still awake?” he asked, his voice low.
Your heart thudded in your chest.
“Yeah, I am,” you managed to say.
He shifted beside you, lying on his back, staring up at the roof of the tent.
“Ya know somethin’,” he began, “you confuse me. When I’m around ya, it makes me feel... weird inside.”
You froze, your mind racing. Was that a compliment? What in the hell did that even mean? You opened your eyes, staring at the side of the tent, still not turning to face him.
“Feel weird, huh?” you tried to laugh, but it came out dry, unsure.
“Yeah... honestly,” he said, his voice carrying the weight of something unspoken. “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s frustratin’…”
That got your attention. Ennis, the stoic man, was sayin' he was frustrated by you? You rolled over onto your other side to face him, and found him still lying there, flat on his back.
“I’m frustratin’? How?” you asked, your curiosity now piqued, wondering what he meant.
You studied his face, noticing how genuinely aggravated he looked-like he was wrestling with something inside, trying to find the right words, but they just wouldn't come.
Then, without thinking, your hand found its way to his. It was as if your body had taken over, and your mind couldn't keep up.
Ennis looked at you for a moment, eyes wide with shock, before he jerked his hand away.
"W-what the hell you doin'?" His voice mixed with surprise and something else you couldn't quite place.
Your heart dropped. Panic surged through you, but your mind was scrambling to catch up with what your body had already done. You had no idea what to say nothing felt right.
You slowly sat up, Ennis mirroring your motion, and the two of you locked eyes in the silence that followed. The tension between you was palpable, and as much as you wanted to pull away, you found yourself unable to.
Then, with the faintest light from the moon filtering through the tent, you admired his face rough, and undeniably beautiful.
Slowly, you reached out again, this time to touch the side of his face. To your surprise, he didn't flinch away. He just stared at you, eyes heavy with hesitation, as though he was torn between wanting to pull away and wanting to let himself go.
You didn't think, didn't overanalyze. You just leaned in, pressing your forehead gently against his. He grabbed your shoulders with a force that sent a jolt through you like he was trying to decide whether to push you away or pull you closer.
You didn't wait. You leaned in again, placing soft, tentative kisses on his lips. At first, he didn't respond, but then, slowly, he kissed you back.
Your whole body ignited, and for a moment, you couldn't believe what was happening. What started as hesitant, almost shy kisses quickly turned into something much more desperate pulling at each other, grabbing faces, tangled in each other as if you couldn't get close enough. The kissing grew urgent, raw, and passionate, your hands grasping at him like you might lose him if you didn't hold on tight enough.
It wasn't just desire, it was something fierce, something untamed. And neither of you seemed to know how to stop. But you knew you were heading down a dangerous path. Ennis was engaged, and you weren't a fool. You knew this wouldn't last. All of this would soon come to an end. Still, you couldn't help but let yourself go.
You kept kissing him, pouring your emotions into each and every touch. There wasn't a way to stop now. There was no turning back.
As you explored each other's body, the rhythm of your breathing became one with his, and your desire for each other grew stronger.
When you looked in his eyes, you could see the conflict there, the turmoil, but also the lust. You could see he wanted you, needed you as much as you needed him. That thought sent another wave of desire through you.
You continued, kissing and touching, each kiss deeper than the last. Your bodies moved in perfect harmony, your hands exploring the curves of his body.
You couldn't get enough of him. You wanted him with every ounce of strength you had.
Finally, you couldn't wait anymore. Your hands eagerly undoing the worn belt of your pants as Ennis’s hands struggled to unbutton his shirt.
As you finally got your pants and briefs down Ennis wasted no time in palming and staring stoke your erect cock as you kissed.
It was sloppy, messy, but it was fucking perfect.
Ennis kissed down your jaw starting to undo his own belt jerking his pants and briefs down to his knees.
“I- I ain’t never done this before” he whispered huskily into your ear.
You’d always been secretly more attracted to men but this was really your first time going this far with one.
“Me neither…” you manage to whisper out of breath.
Without another word Ennis grabbed your hips and flipped you on your stomach not bothering with getting either of you the rest of the way undressed. Suddenly he used one hand to grab your jaw pulling your mouth open just enough to stick his fingers in.
“Suck em, get ‘em wet.” He said bluntly.
For someone who has never done this before he seemed to know what he was doing.
You sucked on his fingers and got them nice and wet, once he finally pulled them out he used his free hand to pull your hips up, arching your ass out for him. He took his fingers and traced them along your entrance eliciting a gasp from you.
It felt weird, but good, and you couldn’t hold back the groan out let out when he finally pushed one finger in.
He went slow, teasing you, taking his time, getting you ready, once you could feel he added a second finger, and he immediately started stretching you out. He used his thumb to tease your balls at the same time, and god, it felt good. You found yourself pushing back onto him and moaning.
You gasp softly, biting your bottom lip.
“S-Shit-“ you gasp.
This only encourages Ennis to keep going, he keeps working you making sure you are ready to take him.
You could feel your cock leaking onto the blankets, and you looked back at Ennis. He had already taken half his shirt off, his muscled chest and body on display.
Ennis looked like he was struggling with self control, like he wanted to push your face in the ground and fuck you senseless but he was also enjoying the tease of it all.
You feel him pull out his fingers and before you could ask what he’s doing you hear him spit in his hand, lathering himself up.
He positioned himself behind you, spreading your ass cheeks and using his spit covered cock to tease you.
This was it, there was no going back now.
With a small thrust he started to enter you, slowly pushing in inch by inch, it took time for him to get all the way in. He was big, really big. But you were ready for it, your body relaxed and you could feel yourself getting used to the size of his cock.
Ennis grabbed your arms and used them to pull himself deeper inside you, his breath coming out heavy.
Then without warning he started moving, starting off with short slow thrusts but soon building up speed and force until he was fucking you hard.
You found yourself moaning loudly, the feeling of him inside you was indescribable. It was so fucking good.
You pushed your ass back on him with each thrust, urging him deeper.
Ennis’s quietness included his sex, the only thing filling the tent was the sound of your combined grunts and moans and the of skin slapping against each other.
Ennis continued to fuck you, picking up speed until finally you felt his cock expand inside you. He moved his hands to your waist holding you in place firmly.
This was good, it was perfect. How could something that was supposed to be so wrong feel so amazing?
Ennis growled and buried himself to the hilt only to pull back and slam back in again.
His one of his hands tightened around your waist, and he used the other to push your face into the blankets. He wasn’t letting up, still going with the same restless energy.
It finally became your undoing and you shot your load onto the blankets below you with a loud groan.
Once Ennis realized you had came he wasn’t holding back anymore, now it was his turn. His thrusts became erratic and his breathing got heavier, he moaned out loud as he unloaded inside you.
It took a few moments for Ennis to come down from his orgasm, his arms still wrapped around you.
“Damn” Ennis spoke first, still buried inside you.
You let out a huff of laughter, “Fuck”
Ennis slowly pulled out, but neither of you moved.
In the quiet darkness, Ennis broke the silence again, “You best not tell nobody about this.” He said matter-of-factly, he wasn’t being mean but you could sense his unease. He had just fucked a man, it was going to take a while for him to get used to that idea.
“Course not.” You said, and Ennis slowly let go of you, and say up straighter.
He took a few minutes to get dressed, and when he finally got out of the tent you realized you had just fucked an engaged man. It had been perfect, but now it was messy. You wondered if this would even happen again.
But there was something in his eyes that told you it wasn’t the last time, and that this whole situation might be more complicated than you had originally thought. But you didn’t care. For now, he was yours, and that was all that mattered.
You were fucked, but it was too late to turn back now. You had gone over the line, and nothing was going to stop you from following him over. Not when he made you feel this good. And you knew it was only going to get better. It was time to face the facts, this wasn’t just a one shot thing with Ennis Del Mar, and nothing could ever change that.
If there was one thing you were sure of, it was that this was just the beginning, and that there aren’t any reins on this one. You were ready to take the leap and see where this journey would take you both.
You lay there in his arms, it was quiet and silent, you know he’s laying there, thinking about it, probably contemplating his life decisions, but you can’t blame him. This whole thing was a mess…
But you aren’t going to think about it right now, right now. You’re the one in his arms and frankly that’s where you feel the most comfortable.
You didn’t know what the future would being, but you were ready.

As much as he wanted, Jack knew he couldn’t wait forever. Every year that he waited for Ennis to come to him, took something away from his heart. He knew why Ennis never did, hell, he understood better than anyone else. But that didn’t mean that the pain didn’t go away. The pain of being put aside for him to live a life that they both knew he didn’t like, with his only bright side being his girls. Yes, Ennis Del Mar was a stubborn son of a bitch, and so was Jack Twist. Which meant they both held out hope that the other one would come to their senses and leave.
After his last visit with Ennis, Jack decided enough was enough. He couldn’t continue on meeting up with him every once in a while to spend the night together, and then return him back to his wife and kids the next morning. His heart hurt to do it, but it was for the best. Ennis looked relieved and depressed at the news, which didn’t make dropping him off any easier on Jack. But it had to be done, for both of their sakes. Which lead Jack to wandering across America. The divorce had put things into perspective for him, and now he was trying to enjoy life as best he could.
Eventually, Jack settled back on Brokeback Mountain. The place that felt more like home than anywhere else. The man felt the sun start to peak over the horizon and onto his face from the window in his bedroom. He groaned and turned over, but felt something heavy and warm wrapped around him. The warm something against his back, and the distinct lack of coffee smell let him know that his companion had yet to wake up and get started on the day today. Jack heard a groan behind him, and felt the warm body nuzzle further into his neck from behind. The early morning, the smells of the mountain, and the company with him pulled Jack into a welcome memory.
~
“‘Scuse me, sir?” Jack turned around and beheld a man with a beautiful, but worn Stetson on his head. The espresso brown color complimented the mystery man’s skin, eyes, and the little bit of hair peaking through.
“Anyone sittin’ here?” The mystery man asked, and pointed to the only other available seat at the bar. Jack shook his head and motioned for the man to sit down, which he did. Flagging down the bartender, he heard a honey smooth voice order a double whiskey on the rocks. He sounded like a man after Jack’s heart.
“Whatcha doin’ in a place like this? You look like a city boy.” Jack’s eyebrows shot up to the top of his head as he slowly looked over his shoulder at the man. The look he was giving him must have been enough to convey the emotion he felt being called a city boy, because the mystery man started to talk once more.
“Oh, ‘m sorry. Me and my big mouth. I-I-I meant that you look really clean cut for being out in a workin’ part of town like this. Not that you…” he trailed off, mumbling to himself about the trouble his mouth was about to get him into. The man reminded Jack a lot of him when he was younger and more full of vigor. He started to chuckle lightly as he turned to face the man more.
“You’re alrigh’, I suppose. What’s your name?” The whiskey in his hands felt warmer than usual, as Jack watched the man’s face. The man supplied him with his name, and let himself roll it over his tongue a couple times before giving him his own. It was strange for Jack to be back in this position all these years later, now weathered and hurt. But it reminded him of the good times he had, and hoped for more to come.
“So, what brings you out here, Jack?” He asked, nursing the whiskey in his hands. He laughed humorlessly and thought about his answer.
“Just tired of living for everyone else. All my folks ran me off, so I’m just wanderin’ now. What about you? Your folks run you off?” A flash of blonde hair and a white hat passed over his mind, but the response wasn’t right.
“I guess I’m the same. I’m tired of survivin’ for everyone else. I wanna live for me.” And like that, the sweet chocolate brown eyes flashed away from memory. The gruff voice was replaced by this honey laced one. Same situation, different outcome. It took Jack a long time to realize that this was the beginning of the rest of his life.
~
Being pulled back into the present, soft kisses were pressed against Jack’s shoulders, neck, and back. He hummed at the affection and let himself sink further into the embrace. The head that the devilish lips were attached to peaked over his shoulder and came into view.
“Good morning, cowboy.” His partner said, voice stifled with sleep. He dropped his head on Jack’s chest and let the other man card his hands through his hair.
“Good morning, beau.” Jack responded as he pressed a small kiss to his head. They laid there for a moment more before his partner had to get up, and he made it known. Groaning, he shuffled over Jack, stretched, and walked over to grab a pair of jeans off the floor. Jack simply admired the man from behind, and made no move to get out of bed just yet.
“You wan’ some coffee, cowboy?” He asked, hand waiting on the door. Jack leveled him a deadpan look.
“Does that damn rooster wake us up every morning?” The man laughed as he walked out the door of their bedroom, and left Jack laying down in their shared bed. He knew he needed to get up. He had to help with taking care of their ranch, but everything seemed peaceful right now. He’d hate to disturb it, but it needed to be done. After a few minutes of staying in the warm bed, and letting the sunrise get him awake, Jack stood and went to go find a pair of jeans and a shirt. He stuffed his feet into a pair of socks, before grabbing another flannel shirt and heading to the kitchen.
The sight was something to behold when he finally arrived in the kitchen. His partner stood with his back to the threshold, and lost in his own world. He hummed quietly as the coffee was brewing on the stovetop, with the radio guiding him along in tune and tempo. As he watched the man in the kitchen go about his routine, Jack ran his hands over the flannel in his hands that he was going to offer. Their life together so far flashed in his head as he quietly observed. He came up behind the shirtless man and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, while tucking his head into the little spot where the neck met the shoulder. Jack felt his partner’s head tip back onto his own shoulder and the two began to sway gently. The music, the smell of the coffee, and the sound of the great outdoors that awaited them all helped set the mood of the morning.
Both were just content. They were content to be with each other, content to live where they did, and content to be themselves. It was easier to be themselves away from the prying eyes of society. The same ones that called their lifestyle sinful while having multiple affairs. But that didn’t matter out here. Here, they were just there. No heavy deadlines, or appearances to keep. No watching what they say, or how they act. It was freeing to be them out here. Jack watched with droopy eyes as his partner placed several spoonfuls of sugar into his mug and went to add a splash of milk. While Jack didn’t need the milk, it was a nice touch when they could afford it. He watched the man fix his own cup of coffee before dragging them both over to the table in the dining room. Jack had totally missed the food that was already there. How long had it been that his partner left their bedroom?
“Here you go, cowboy. Eat up. We’ve gotta go repair that fence today.” The man said, digging into his eggs and sausage. Jack groaned around a mouthful of eggs and threw his head back.
“Seriously? How many times have we had to fix that damn fence this month?” He continued to tear into his toast and breakfast while they talked.
“Three. That’s because of the damn sheep. They just don’t leave it the hell alone. Which reminds me, we’ve gotta eat anythin’ that can go bad soon. We’re movin’ the sheep ‘cross the mountain again this summer.” Jack was amazed at his ability to multitask like that. It surely couldn’t have been easy but he made it appear so.
“Damn it. Okay. We takin’ Jesse with us, right?” He asked, biting off a piece of toast.
“Yep. We’re gettin’ a little raise from last year’s adventure but it will be enough to pay for the fence and then some.” The men finished their meals with some small talk, mostly about the day ahead. With plates in the sink, and mugs in hand, a now full dressed couple stood on the porch, and watched the land. Jesse came up as soon as she saw her owners with a dead squirrel in her mouth and tail a wagging. They laughed and got the squirrel away from her before resting. The same routine everyday, but they loved it. One last moment of piece before they would turn in for the night later on.
They drank their coffee and enjoyed the blissful state of nature around them. Jesse laid at their feet, while Jack wrapped his right arm around his partner’s shoulders. He felt his partner do the same but with his left arm. Jack turned and pressed a kiss to his partner’s head and nuzzled further into the hair that he fell in love with years ago. He always imagined that he would be doing this with Ennis. That’s what his heart wanted for twenty years; twenty years of longing, pain, love, and heartache. But this was even better. A partner that loved him as he loved him, one that stood by his side but called him out when he needed to. Someone to live out his happily ever after with with no doubt that he would crawl through fire and glass just to see Jack happy. Maybe it’s not with who he originally thought it would be, but happily ever after takes a little time to get sometimes.

save a horse…
ennis del mar x fem!reader
smut and a bit of smut
basically, smut, then the rest of the day is fluffy 💋💋
a/n-read this for my explanation for it being a fem!reader but y’all can imagine whoever you want to
///////////////////
i wake up to the sound of him turning over. “ennis?” i hum out. “hm?” he hums. i blink open to see him just waking up. “morning.” i smile. “morning.” he smiles back and kisses me.
i smile as his big hand moves behind my back and holds me against him. we continue to make out like this until i move over so i’m straddling him. “oh, i like this.” he smirks and moves his hands up my thighs.
i lean down and connect our lips again while he touches and gropes all over my body. “ennis.” i whine into his lips. “hm?” he hums and pulls away barely, so our lips barely touch.
“can i stay on top?” i ask and softly kiss down his face to his neck. “fuck, yes.” he groans as i softly bite his neck. his hands tangle into my hair as i kiss all over his neck and chest.
he pulls me back up to his lips and connects them again. “please.” i breathe. “okay.” he says. i kick the sheets off of us and we quickly strip. i pull of my last item of clothing and turn to see him slowly stroking himself, his tip an angry red
“shit. ennis.” i smile. i lean down and kiss the tip before pulling away. “fuck.” he smirks as i line myself up with him. i sit down onto his length, pausing halfway to adjust myself.
“fuck.” he sighs. “ennis.” i moan and sit down on him more. “oh yes.” i moan as i take him fully. he guides me against his cock. “you- fuck.” he says as he firmly grabs onto my hips. “ennis.” i brace my hands on his chest.
“you’re squeezing me, darling.” he smirks. “mhm.” i nod. i start to bounce myself and he lets his hands fall from me. “look at you.” he smiles and snakes his hand to my ass. he gropes it as i ride him, squeezing harder when i clench around him.
“shit.” he sighs. i watch him reach over and i slow down my hips as he grabs his pack of cigarettes. he tucks one between his lips and grabs his lighter. he lights the end of the cigarette, sucking and blowing out a puff of smoke as he drops the lighter onto the nightstand.
“come on.” he smirks and slaps my ass. i smile as i start to bounce on him. “shit.” he breathes out. “fuck.” i moan. “yeah. like that?” he smiles and spanks me, blowing out a puff of smoke in the process. “mhm.” i nod.
“oh fuck.” he groans, taking another puff from his cigarette. “yeah. fuck, ride me.” he grunts. “ah! ennis.” i moan, jaw going slack.
“feel good?” he smirks. “yes.” i gasp. i hurriedly bounce on him while he holds onto my hips. “please.” i cry out. “what?” he smiles, more smoke blowing out. “i need to.” i whine and bounce more harsher against him.
“come on. do it.” he smiles. i finish and clench around him so hard i almost push him out. “fuck, fuck, fuck.” i moan as i finish. i pull out and stroke him quickly so he finishes on my stomach. “shit.” he sighs as he’s done. “yeah.” i smile and softly kiss him. i quickly wipe myself off and get dressed. he gets dressed in his underwear and i join him in bed.
“you enjoy it?” he smiles. “mhm.” i nod and trace small shapes on his chest. “you hungry?” he asks. “yeah.” i nod. “okay.” he says and gets up. he goes to the kitchen and eventually i climb out of bed and go to him.
“hi.” he says while cracking an egg into a pan. “hi.” i hum and start a pot of coffee. “what’s the game plan today?” i ask as i start the machine and let it drip into the pot. “the normal.” he shrugs. “okay.” i softly laugh. “what’s your plans?” he mumbles through a barely there cigarette. “dishes, laundry, then probably stare at you.” i smile. “interesting.” he nods.
“here.” i say and pluck the cigarette out of his lips. “you’re gonna burn your lips.” i say as i put it out, dumping it into an ashtray. “what would i do without you?” he asks. “probably burn the house down.” i smile as i fix us both coffee. “hm.” he responds as i pour him a cup.
“how you like it.” i smile as i hand him it. i kiss his cheek as i go make mine. “do you need anything from the store? i’m starting to make a list.” i ask. “uh, get back to me.” he smiles. “okay.” i smile.
he makes me breakfast and we sit down at our small table. “what time is it?” he asks. “you have the watch.” i point out. he sighs and looks over at the clock in the kitchen. “shit.” he sighs. “yeah?” i ask. “i gotta get out there quickly, they’ll have my ass.” he says.
he quickly eats and runs to get ready. i’m sitting and reading as he comes out with his hand in hand. “love you.” he says and kisses me. “i love you.” i call back.

Summary: A quick trip into town for a few cowboys quickly turns into a trip down memory lane.
Tumblr media
“Jack! Come on, we gotta go into town.” A voice called the man from where he was pulling on his boots. He groaned as he grabbed his coat from the stand near the door right next to the other man. Jack looked all around for his hat but to no avail, until the other man presented him with his black Stetson in his hands. He took it from the other man with a quiet thanks before heading out the front door and to the old pickup that was in the front. Jack grumbled as he helped their dog into the floorboard of the pickup and waited for the other man to follow suit.
“Why ya so fussy today, cowboy?” His companion asked. Instead of words, he was met with a deadpan look on the passenger’s face. As he started the car, he began to grumble himself.
“I know you don’ like goin’ into town but we need to. Our girl needs her check up and we need some stuff from the store.” He reached over and placed a soothing hand on Jack’s shoulder who continued to stare out the window as the trees passed by. There were many reasons why Jack didn’t like going into town. The least of his worries was that they looked at him like a no good hick. But it had to be done. Their dog needed to be seen by the vet in town. They needed to get some more food that they couldn’t grow. But that didn’t mean that Jack had to like the task of going into town.
The drive in was peaceful, which was is in stark contrast to the thoughts rattling around inside Jack’s head. Trees blended together as the wind swept over his face. The day old stubble was rough against the palm he leaned against. When a hand reached down to rest on his thigh, Jack unconsciously held it in his other hand that wasn’t against his face. He needed the comfort before their trip into the public where they both had to hide their affections. A few minutes later, when they saw the first few stores pop into view, a gentle squeeze was passed between them as they pulled away. Both men didn’t need to speak in order to understand what the other was thinking.
“Can you go with the girl to the vet while I get started in the store? It’ll make our time out here faster.” His partner offered as he parked in front of the vet, with the store only a few doors down. Jack nodded and wordlessly got out of the old pickup to clip the leash onto their dog. He made his way to the front door and went inside as he heard that old truck pull out of the lot. Jack preferred to be in the vet more than the store. The ladies behind the desk were always kind to him and gave him a cookie every time he came in. All the other animals nearby seemed to want Jack’s affection whenever he showed up, which the man was more than willing to shower them in. Most of all, the vet usually never took more than an hour of time out of his day. People made him weary, worried about saying or doing the wrong thing to the wrong person. Being around the other animals was a blessing.
Eventually, Jack left the vet’s office with a clean bill of health for his girl, and a cookie. Munching on it quietly, he snuck little pieces of it to the dog and enjoyed watching her tail wag at the tiny crumb of a peanut butter cookie. As he made his way to the store down the way, he spotted the old pickup that belonged to his partner and went to go put the dog in the bed of the truck. Jack clipped her leash to the little hook they put inside just for occasions like this. Sharing with her the last bite of the cookie, Jack went inside the store in search of his companion. The Stetson on his head helped block out the bright LED lights above that were brighter and harsher than the noon day sun. Eventually he saw a familiar jacket moving to the next isle, and excitedly he made his way around and down to follow. As he moved, Jack prayed that he had finished most of the shopping so he didn’t have to spend much time in public. Living on the mountain had made him reluctant to have normal interactions again.
But it wasn’t his partner that greeted his eyes a little ways down the aisle. A familiar head of blonde curls, squinted eyes, and downturned lips was what greeted him instead. Jack felt his heart stop for a moment as he beheld the man he hadn’t seen in several years, ever since he found his partner that should be nearby; Ennis Del Mar. The man didn’t know what he wanted to do. He couldn’t make his body run away from the blonde, but he couldn’t make it go towards him either. Jack wished that the Earth would swallow him whole before-
“Jack?” Too late. He had seen him. The man in question blinked back into the present and felt the wind get knocked out him. Ennis Del Mar was now standing in front of him. Those deep brown, almost black eyes that he fell in love with all those years ago stared deep into his soul. His blonde curls were shorter yet still as wild as always.
“Jack Twist? How the hell are ya?” Ennis said excitedly as he came up to stand in front of a still frozen Jack. But his smile dropped quickly as he watched how Jack still didn’t respond.
“Jack? Jack, you okay, rodeo?” That seemed to snap the man out of his daze. He blinked into the present and away from memories that he remembered sustained him not too long ago.
“Ennis. Um, yeah. Yeah, I’m good. How are you? How’s the girls?” Jack asked politely and took a brief scan around to see if anyone was watching. Unfortunately he didn’t see his partner anywhere in sight.
“The girls are alright. The little ones started a new year of school and I got a promotion so I can help pay for a better education once it comes time. What about you? What have you been up to?” Ennis talked so casually, inquiring about his life but Jack knew the man long enough to know what he was really asking. The subtitles would have said, “do you have anyone romantically in your life?”
“Oh I’ve been around. Just came into town for a vet check up and some groceries. Then headin’ back up the mountain a ways to home. Livin’ the quiet life.” Jack chose to leave out that there was, in fact someone else in his life that consumed his very being. Hopefully Ennis wouldn’t be around too much longer.
“That’s good. The girls have been beggin’ for a pup of their own for a little bit. Hey, why don’t you come over for dinner one night? The girls are going to Alma’s parents’ for the weekend and Alma is on a girls trip.” Before Jack could speak, the sounds of boots that he knew all too well came pounding down the floor behind the pair.
“Jack! Been lookin’ for ya. Oh, who’s this?” His partner came up behind him and stood too far away for Jack’s liking. But he had to remind himself that they were in public, and not was not about to blow their cover.
“I’m Ennis. Ennis Del Mar. ‘M an old friend of Jack’s.” The blonde haired man reached his hand forward and waited for the other man to shake it. As he did, he supplied him with his own name.
“Oh, Ennis. I remember some of Jack’s stories of y’all way back when. He has some funny stories of y’all that I’d love to hear the other side of.” Jack felt his heart speed up at the thought of sitting through a dinner between his current partner and his former whatever Ennis was.
“Jack, what kind of food do I need to get the princess that’s at the house? You know what she eats and she’s so picky.” The man turned towards Jack and kept his face neutral. Jack turned with a slightly confused look on his face.
“Umm the Purina one. I’ll show you. Um, it was good seein’ ya Ennis. Don’t be a stranger.” His partner leaned in and shook Ennis’ hand one last time.
“Good meetin’ ya, Ennis. Glad I could finally meet the man, the myth, and the legend in person after all these years. We gotta get goin’ now. See ya ‘round.” He stayed behind Jack as he maneuvered with the cart towards where the dog food was. but when they stood in front of the food, Jack turned to look at his partner.
“You know what type of food she eats. Why lie?” He questioned as he watched the other man haul a bag on to the bottom of the cart.
“Cause you looked like a damn spooked horse over there, cowboy. You needed an out. Come on. Let’s get home. This was the last thing we needed.” As they neared the checkout lines, keys were pressed into Jack’s hand and a silent command was spoken. He made his way to the truck and grabbed the dog from the back to sit with him in the front.
It wasn’t but a few minutes before his partner was walking confidently out of the store. Not looking like a man that just had to pull his partner away from panicking in front of a former lover. Was it even love if one of them didn’t want to make it work? Or was Jack pressing too hard? Should he have backed off and allowed Ennis to come to him? Thoughts ran wild through his head as he watched the familiar passing landscape of trees and their leaves pass the pair of men by. Once they were out of the city, a familiar hand made its way to Jack’s thigh. Their communication was hidden; in code, in glances, in touches. The pair understood each other so well that they didn’t need words to describe what they needed to say. They allowed other things to do that for them.
When they pulled up in front of their house, the truck was shut off but neither one made the effort to get out. Jack allowed himself to be manhandled by his partner so he was resting against his chest. In the privacy of their ranch, with the mountain as their back and front yard, they allowed themselves to breathe in relief. Today didn’t go as planned, but that didn’t matter. Jack knew he had someone reliable around. Someone that he could count on him to pull him out of a sticky situation, or out of his own head. Someone to hold and support him, and allow himself to be his own man. Someone that was his partner in every aspect of life.

Jack Twist x Male reader anyone? Like I get the story that is being told with Brokeback Mountain, but the fact that Jack didn't get his happily ever after on a ranch is something that keeps me up at night. But does anyone want to read that? Just a little something where we can all pretend that Jack got to be happy.

I wrote Happily Ever After so damn fast. But I hope all Gyllenhaal fans can enjoy it. It is a male reader cause we love our gay icon, but I still want fem readers to enjoy. I do not discriminate on who enjoys my content. Just because something is Male/Female reader, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the story and still feel like you’re in it. Okay, mini rant done. Enjoy!
