Streamlining Employee Transportation: Incorporating Shuttle Services with Smart Parking Management
In today's fast-paced corporate world, the efficiency of employee transportation has become a crucial aspect of operational strategy for many businesses. Streamlining the commute not only enhances employee satisfaction and productivity but also aligns with broader environmental goals by reducing congestion and emissions. One innovative solution gaining traction is the integration of Shuttle Transportation services with Smart Parking Management systems. This approach not only optimizes the commute for those driving to work but also enhances the utilization and effectiveness of shuttle services. This article delves into the synergy between these components—Employee Transportation, Shuttle Transportation, and Parking Management System—to showcase how businesses can revolutionize the way employees commute.
The Significance of Efficient Employee Transportation
Employee Transportation is a vital facet of corporate logistics, impacting everything from daily operational efficiency to long-term sustainability goals. An optimized transportation system can significantly reduce commute times, lower stress, and boost overall job satisfaction. In an era where talent retention is as crucial as talent attraction, offering streamlined commuting options can set a company apart as an employer of choice.
The Role of Shuttle Transportation in Corporate Commutes
Shuttle Transportation services have emerged as a key player in enhancing employee transportation. By providing reliable and convenient transportation options, shuttle services can decrease the reliance on personal vehicles, thus contributing to reduced traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions. For large campuses or businesses located in areas with limited public transportation options, shuttle services offer a practical solution to commuting challenges, ensuring employees can get to work efficiently and on time.
Leveraging a Parking Management System for Smarter Commuting
A Parking Management System goes beyond simply monitoring parking space availability. It encompasses a range of smart features, including real-time data analytics, mobile app integration for space reservations, and optimization algorithms to maximize parking space utilization. By effectively managing parking resources, businesses can significantly reduce the time employees spend searching for parking, improving their overall commuting experience.
Integrating Shuttle Services with Smart Parking Management
The integration of Shuttle Transportation with a Smart Parking Management system represents a holistic approach to streamlining employee transportation. Here are key strategies for incorporating these solutions effectively:
Data-Driven Scheduling: Utilize data from the parking management system to inform shuttle service schedules. By understanding peak parking times and availability, businesses can tailor shuttle timings to align with employee needs, ensuring shuttles are available when most beneficial.
Priority Parking for Shuttle Users: Encourage the use of shuttle services by offering priority parking for employees who utilize the shuttle. This can be managed through the parking management system, which can reserve spots for shuttle users, incentivizing more employees to opt for this eco-friendly commuting option.
Real-Time Communication: Integrate shuttle service updates and parking availability into a single mobile app or platform. This allows employees to make informed decisions about their commuting options each day, enhancing the flexibility and convenience of the overall transportation system.
Feedback Loops: Establish mechanisms for collecting employee feedback on both the shuttle services and the parking management system. This input can be invaluable for making iterative improvements to schedules, routes, and parking policies, ensuring the system evolves to meet changing employee needs.
Sustainability Reporting: Leverage data from both systems to report on environmental impact, such as reduced vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and emissions savings. This can bolster corporate sustainability reports and support environmental certification efforts.
Conclusion
The innovative integration of Shuttle Transportation services with a Smart Parking Management system offers a promising avenue for enhancing Employee Transportation. By addressing both ends of the commuting spectrum—those who drive to work and those who utilize shuttle services—businesses can significantly improve the efficiency, sustainability, and attractiveness of their employee transportation offerings. As companies continue to seek competitive advantages in attracting and retaining top talent, streamlining the daily commute through smart transportation solutions emerges as a key strategy. This holistic approach not only benefits employees and the environment but also positions companies as forward-thinking leaders in corporate mobility.

Why should we use shuttle services for quotidian use?
Shuttle services can be an accessible and effective mode of transportation for quotidian use for several reasons 1. Cost-effective Shuttle services can be an affordable option compared to other modes of transportation similar to retaining a machine, taking a hack, or ride- participating services. Shuttle services generally offer lower fares than these other options, and some shuttle services also offer blinked rates for regular commuters. 2. Saves time Shuttle services generally operate on fixed schedules and routes, which means that you do not have to waste time figuring out your transportation every day. This can save time and reduce the stress of quotidian commuting. 3. Environmentally friendly Shuttle services can be a greener option compared to other modes of transportation, especially if they use electric or cold-pedigreed vehicles. Using shuttle services can help reduce your carbon footmark and contribute to a further sustainable future. 4. safe- deposit box and dependable Shuttle services are generally operated by professional motorists who are trained to drive safely and follow business rules. These services also maintain their vehicles regularly to insure that they're in good condition and give a dependable mode of transportation. 5. Accessible Shuttle services offer pick-up and drop-off points at designated locales, making it easy to pierce them from your home or plant. They also give comfortable seating, air exertion, and Wi-Fi to insure a comfortable and accessible lift. Overall, shuttle services can be a great option for quotidian use, furnishing a cost-effective, time-saving, environmentally friendly, safe, and accessible mode of transportation.

LaRue Burbank, mathematician and computer, is just one of the many women who were instrumental to NASA missions.
4 Little Known Women Who Made Huge Contributions to NASA
Women have always played a significant role at NASA and its predecessor NACA, although for much of the agency’s history, they received neither the praise nor recognition that their contributions deserved. To celebrate Women’s History Month – and properly highlight some of the little-known women-led accomplishments of NASA’s early history – our archivists gathered the stories of four women whose work was critical to NASA’s success and paved the way for future generations.
LaRue Burbank: One of the Women Who Helped Land a Man on the Moon
LaRue Burbank was a trailblazing mathematician at NASA. Hired in 1954 at Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory (now NASA’s Langley Research Center), she, like many other young women at NACA, the predecessor to NASA, had a bachelor's degree in mathematics. But unlike most, she also had a physics degree. For the next four years, she worked as a "human computer," conducting complex data analyses for engineers using calculators, slide rules, and other instruments. After NASA's founding, she continued this vital work for Project Mercury.
In 1962, she transferred to the newly established Manned Spacecraft Center (now NASA’s Johnson Space Center) in Houston, becoming one of the few female professionals and managers there.  Her expertise in electronics engineering led her to develop critical display systems used by flight controllers in Mission Control to monitor spacecraft during missions. Her work on the Apollo missions was vital to achieving President Kennedy's goal of landing a man on the Moon.
Eilene Galloway: How NASA became… NASA
Tumblr media
Eilene Galloway wasn't a NASA employee, but she played a huge role in its very creation. In 1957, after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, Senator Richard Russell Jr. called on Galloway, an expert on the Atomic Energy Act, to write a report on the U.S. response to the space race. Initially, legislators aimed to essentially re-write the Atomic Energy Act to handle the U.S. space goals. However, Galloway argued that the existing military framework wouldn't suffice – a new agency was needed to oversee both military and civilian aspects of space exploration. This included not just defense, but also meteorology, communications, and international cooperation.
Her work on the National Aeronautics and Space Act ensured NASA had the power to accomplish all these goals, without limitations from the Department of Defense or restrictions on international agreements. Galloway is even to thank for the name "National Aeronautics and Space Administration", as initially NASA was to be called “National Aeronautics and Space Agency” which was deemed to not carry enough weight and status for the wide-ranging role that NASA was to fill.
Barbara Scott: The “Star Trek Nerd” Who Led Our Understanding of the Stars
Tumblr media
A self-described "Star Trek nerd," Barbara Scott's passion for space wasn't steered toward engineering by her guidance counselor. But that didn't stop her!  Fueled by her love of math and computer science, she landed at Goddard Spaceflight Center in 1977.  One of the first women working on flight software, Barbara's coding skills became instrumental on missions like the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) and the Thermal Canister Experiment on the Space Shuttle's STS-3.  For the final decade of her impressive career, Scott managed the flight software for the iconic Hubble Space Telescope, a testament to her dedication to space exploration.
Dr. Claire Parkinson: An Early Pioneer in Climate Science Whose Work is Still Saving Lives
Tumblr media
Dr. Claire Parkinson's love of math blossomed into a passion for climate science. Inspired by the Moon landing, and the fight for civil rights, she pursued a graduate degree in climatology.  In 1978, her talents landed her at Goddard, where she continued her research on sea ice modeling. But Parkinson's impact goes beyond theory.  She began analyzing satellite data, leading to a groundbreaking discovery: a decline in Arctic sea ice coverage between 1973 and 1987. This critical finding caught the attention of Senator Al Gore, highlighting the urgency of climate change.
Parkinson's leadership extended beyond research.  As Project Scientist for the Aqua satellite, she championed making its data freely available. This real-time information has benefitted countless projects, from wildfire management to weather forecasting, even aiding in monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. Parkinson's dedication to understanding sea ice patterns and the impact of climate change continues to be a valuable resource for our planet.

"Trump is better for the economy, though!"
Aside from almost every major economist agreeing that Trump's economic plans would actually make things far worse than they are now, this man can't even manage his campaign's, his businesses', OR his personal finances.
Case in point, here a list from Public Opinion of his failed business endeavors:
"Trump's companies have filed for bankruptcy at least six times. This is no exaggeration. Digital World noted this in its SEC filings. This excludes additional business failures that might not have declared bankruptcy, but closed owing vendors, employees and others."
"For the record, here are some of Trump's noteworthy business failures."
Trump Airlines — Trump borrowed $245 million to purchase Eastern Air Shuttle. He branded it Trump Airlines. He added gold bathroom fixtures. Two years later Trump could not cover the interest payment on his loan and defaulted.
Trump Beverages — Although Trump touted his water as "one of the purest natural spring waters bottled in the world," it was simply bottled by a third party. Other beverages, including Trump Fire and Trump Power, seem not to have made it to market. And Trump's American Pale Ale died with a trademark withdrawal.
Trump Game — Milton Bradley tried to sell it. As did Hasbro. After investment, the game died and went out of circulation.
Trump Casinos — Trump filed for bankruptcy three times on his casinos, namely the Trump Taj Mahal, the Trump Marina and the Trump Plaza in New Jersey and the Trump Casino in Indiana. Trump avoided debt obligations of $3 billion the first time. Then $1.8 billion the second time. And then after reorganizing, shuffling money and assets, and waiting four years, Trump again declared bankruptcy after missing ongoing interest payments on multi-million dollar bonds. He was finally forced to step down as chairman.
Trump Magazine — Trump Style and Trump World were renamed Trump Magazine to reap advertising dollars from his name recognition. However, Trump Magazine also went out of business.
Trump Mortgage — Trump told CNBC in 2006 that "I think it's a great time to start a mortgage company. … The real-estate market is going to be very strong for a long time to come." Then the real estate market collapsed. Trump had hired E.J. Ridings as CEO of Trump Mortgage and boasted that Ridings had been a "top executive of one of Wall Street's most prestigious investment banks." Turned out Ridings had only six months of experience as a stockbroker. Trump Mortgage closed and never paid a $298,274 judgment it owed a former employee, nor the $3,555 it owed in unpaid taxes.
Trump Steaks — Trump closed Trump Steaks due to a lack of sales while owing Buckhead Beef $715,000.
Trump's Travel Site — GoTrump.com was in business for one year. Failed.
Trumpnet — A telephone communication company that abandoned its trademark.
Trump Tower Tampa — Trump sold his name to the developers and received $2 million. Then the project went belly-up with only $3,500 left in the company. Condo buyers sued Trump for allegedly misleading them. Trump settled and paid as little as $11,115 to buyers who had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Trump University or the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative — Trump staged wealth-building seminars costing up to $34,995 for mentorships that would offer students access to Trump's secrets of success. Instructors turned out to be motivational speakers sometimes with criminal records. Lawsuits and criminal investigations abound.
Trump Vodka — Business failed due to a lack of sales.
Trump Fragrances — Success by Trump, Empire by Trump, and Donald Trump: The Fragrances all failed due to being discontinued, perhaps as a result of few sales.
Trump Mattress — Serta stopped offering a Trump-branded mattress, again likely due to slacking sales.
Truth Social — This existing Trump business owes big money, and may well be breathing its last.
And then of course is his long history of stiffing contractors, restaurants, and even entire cities for their event venues he used for his rallies—as well as some of his own followers—
—such as the case where he promised a greiving hispanic American family that he would pay for the burial of their daughter, Vanessa Guillén, a servicewoman who had been brutally murdered by a fellow soldier at Fort Hood in 2020, but later told his chief of staff not to pay for it after learning it would cost $60,000, reportedly saying "It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!"

On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, killing all seven crew members aboard. The spacecraft disintegrated 46,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 11:39 a.m. EST. A major malfunction 73 seconds after liftoff resulted in the loss of Challenger and the seven astronauts aboard. An agency investigation later showed unexpectedly cold temperatures affected the integrity of O-ring seals in the solid rocket booster segment joints. The launch was scheduled as the agency’s 25th shuttle mission. While the spacecraft waited overnight on Launch Pad 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, a cold front brought freezing temperatures, causing ice to form on the shuttle. Despite concerns raised by some shuttle program employees, managers cleared the mission for launch, with liftoff occurring at 11:38 a.m.

Portland 1999
10/10/1999  10;08am Coffee People Portland, Oregon
JW sits now where I sat 5 years back—in a different world. The seeds then were sewn for its ending. It needed to end. Harsh. Violent. Why?
We wait for “neat” stores to open at 11. Kitchen stores. Furniture stores.
The new world of HB and SB is a “we share” world.
Oldies play. We had bloody Marys and Eggs Benedict for breakfast this am here on 23rd street. I’m in heaven. We walked down to the gay bars last night. We peeked into a bath house and a porn shop and a couple of gay bars.
We decide to save the rose garden for another visit. We like Portland.
We saw four gay guys, Front Runner style, running down 23rd Street this morning. And, a gay rainbow stripe on a car.
So, to recount a bit, we stated off on time two days ago. We arrived at the airport in Oakland, California early.  But, hours after the original take off time, we were told that  the plane had engine problems and the flight was being canceled. There was much weeping and wailing at the ticket counter. We handed a note to the ticket counter employee saying that they were handling the situation well. The employee smiled.
The airline put us p at the Hilton Hotel  in Oakland for the night where a Pet Bird owner’s convention was under way!
Next morning, up early, HB sweetly started the  coffee perking. As it gurgled out it’s last laugh “I’m ready…”B popped up and sloshed through (did Lew pee on the floor?)..the coffee pot, located in the bathroom on a shelf by the toilet, was empty. He managed to save a half cup each from the lid…mud…my favorite
Soon, Mother Nature called. Jim was sitting on the toilet, reached for some toilet paper located just below the empty coffee pot…soggy. Soaked  bloated. And the secondd roll? The same, down to about its middle! How much coffee can your toilet paper absorb?
Finally it was time to board the shuttle back to the air port. The whiny family who had been howling at the ticket counter the day before "I just wanna see Barry" (presumably some Portland acquaintance), now, boarding the shuttle were saying "My shoes are too tight! I'm having a heart attack!" Jim and I sat in the back of the bus and laughed!
End of entry
Notes: 8/19/2024
The above entry is from my 1999 journal. That trip to Portland was the only trip by air that Jim and I took in our 12 years together! And, we laughed about it for the rest of our relationship!
HB, B and SB were our nick names for each other. They stood for Honey Bunny and Snuggle Bunny!
I had visited Portland once before on my own before I knew Jim. That was in 1994 when I was experiencing a lot of gay related political trouble at the Public Defender’s office in Modesto, California. I met Jim and was fired from that job in 1997. So, by 1999, Jim was my world.
JW were Jim’s initials. His last name was Wentzel
"Front Runner" was a land mark gay romance novel published in 1974. Written by Patricia Neil Warren, Wikipedia said about it “A love story between a running coach and his star athlete, the Front Runner  is noted for being the first contemporary gay novel to achieve mainstream commercial and critical success."
We had taken the trip to Portland for a law related class that I was taking there.

Space Travelers, Sheeku and Lamarr.
Perhaps this is a shot from the very first season of their show "Outlanders", or even their first departure from Coruscant.
Lamarr Garhai is a male Neimoidian who was a scientist and an expert in the field of ecology. In his youth, he dreamed of becoming an explorer and going on expeditions to other worlds, but early on he learned about anti-neimoidian sentiments in the galaxy and chose to build a career on his home planet. He performed well in his position at the Ministry of Environmental Protection, but in the last year of the Clone War he began to have some problems with his thought processes, probably due to stress - it became difficult for him to summarize data, he had to spend more and more time and nerves on familiar tasks. He was among those assessing the damage caused to Cato-Neimoidia by the terroristic attacks at the end of the Clone War, however, the new, human authorities did not really take their conclusions and projects into account. Then he made a difficult decision to leave his homeland, unable to bear the sight of what had become of it. For a while Lamarr had easier and that's why boring job related to air quality assessment on Coruscant. In the capital he did not advertise his origin, struggled with memories and periodically drank, until one evening he met Sheeku at the Outlander club.
Lamarr brought a protocol droid TC-17 with him to the capital because he thought he would have to work with representatives of a variety of species, but in fact it turned out that 90 percent of those with whom he had to communicate were human. The droid's body has traditional patterns made from bioluminescent resin from trees native to Cato-Neimoidia.This was the artwork of Lamarr himself, a reminder of his abandoned job and homeland. In this regard, TC-17 considers himself a masterpiece of art and has a rather arrogant personality.
Sheeku DeBrek is a male Duros who was employed in the family business along with his sister Sheerua, who is slightly younger than him. Their parents have a small company that rents out shuttles on Coruscant. They wanted their offspring to get to know the business from the inside, so the job of young duros with the company started as a technicians and then they were supposed to become pilots, before being able to manage and hire employees for these positions. However, Sheeku was not overly inspired by the family business, unlike Sheerua. He did not want to live a hectic life in the eternal pursuit of money in the capital, where it is difficult to survive, doing something uninteresting to him, and would prefer to travel a lot, at last return to the homeland of his species and one day settle in an orbital city. To fulfill his dream, Sheeku tried to become a professional dancer and get the opportunity to tour, and also hoped that he could prove himself during performances in Duros cities and, if he was noticed, join one of the local show ballets and stay there. He has talent and love for dancing since childhood, but he began to master this art seriously too late, so his body was not sufficiently prepared for such stress and he had to give up trying and return to the plans that his family had prepared for him. While relaxing after the training flight at the Outlander club, he met Lamarr.
An astromech droid H8-B2, or simply B2, always helped Sheeku in his work. He is a responsible hard worker who always wants to be useful. H8-B2 and TC-17 don't like each other too much.
Sheeku and Lamarr quickly developed a mutual interest, which allowed them to become close despite some cultural differences. They together came up with the idea of traveling around the galaxy, visiting various interesting planets, and hosting their own travel show on HoloNet. In this matter, they greatly helped each other - one managed to fulfill a dream and monetize this business, and the other overcame his mental trauma being able to feel that life goes on.

ROUND 1 MASTERPOST
synopses and propaganda under the cut
Omega
Synopsis
A strange telepathic message prompts the Doctor to travel to the Sector of Forgotten Souls, a place where, thousands of years ago, Omega's ship vanished whilst detonating a star.
He's not the only one journeying towards it. Jolly Chronolidays prides itself on giving its tourists an experience of galactic history that is far better than mere time travel.
Its motto is, "We don't go into history, we prefer to bring history to you".
When Omega's ship suddenly materialises in front of their shuttle, and one of their employees goes insane and tries to destroy his hands...
...suddenly it's not just a motto any more.
And Omega — and his madness — is closer than they think.
Propaganda no propaganda submitted
Master
Synopsis
Many years ago, on a dark and stormy night, the disfigured and enigmatic Doctor John Smith invited his closest friends, Inspector Victor Schaeffer and his wife, to a dinner to celebrate his birthday. A mere few hours later all the occupants in that house had been changed — some were dead, others mentally scarred forever by the events of that night.
So, what happened to the distinguished dinner guests on that evening? Perhaps we'll never know. But two clues have led to much speculation — found outside the study window, a charred umbrella with a curved red handle and found inside the house, a blood-stained copy of Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
For one person, this night represented an ending: an ending to one thousand years of darkness and an ending to ten years of light.
But for everyone else, is there no ending of this one night of Hell?

(OR IS IT?) Charley, who has been rescued from death by the eight doctor, rescuing her when he was not supposed to, has been through a lot, and even as that got solved last episode, by saving her from becoming a portal of death to galifray (a long and better constracted story XD), the doctor and the tardis has sufferd a huge explosen of an anti time bomb! making the doctor to become infected with an anti time infection! making him concive himself as the childhood time lord rhyme known as Zagreus! so now he must distory the entire univerce hahaha, because apperently Rassilon, ie one of the og creatorss of galifray socity wants to make the doctor into Zagrues so he can use him to distroy his emenies!! by distroying him body and soul!!! but what's this??? his former selfes as random people around the time stream coming in with the steal chair????? all led by a very rightfully annoyed Charley because the doctor refused to kill her as she asked because she loves him???? what the fuck will happen next!! all led delightfuly by Romana and Leela, and K9, and a rather jealous and EVIL tardis played by the Brigadier himself!! in between this 3 HOUR LONG epic and delightful advanture, apart from the absolote chaos of the event, you will get a suprisingly beutifull speaches filled with exploration of the meaning of love, of friendship! of a love so strong that it shall forfit between dimantions and also canon, the doctor explores what it actually means to be in love with a companion! and Charley, explores what it means to love him even more strongly back! what it means to be the doctor!! and the fact that the distruction of the tardis is actuall the thing stopping him from completely losing himself to loss and grief 😭, the absolote hammering in of the fact the coraption of time lord scoaity and Rasilon's bigotry, and finally someone understands that if you corrupt the Doctor, you have the absolotle potancial to distroy the entire univerce!! Paul Mcgann screaming for amazing hours, as he has the best time playing the baddy and people who are not the doctor!! India Fisher as Charley giving it her all and being amazing at it!! The 30th anniversary special is overly long and complicated but mostly it is INSANE ! Alice in Wonderlands, giant animatronic rabbits, Vampires and an evil doctor who hAMS it up,,,,that and 4 different doctors as well as TONS of companions plus the Briggs who is actually the TARDIS. it makes no sense! Compels me tho. Everyone says it with me : Zagreus sits inside your head Zagreus lives among the dead Zagreus Sees you in your bed And eats you when you're sleeping It's the best anniversary special day of the doctor whomst ? (@gnougnouss )
Scherzo
Synopsis
Once upon a time...
There were two friends, and together they travelled the cosmos. They thwarted tyrants and defeated monsters, they righted wrongs wherever they went. They explored the distant future and the distant past, new worlds and galaxies, places beyond imagining.
But every good story has to come to an end.
With no times or places left to explore, all the two friends have now are each other. But maybe that's one voyage too many. Maybe they'll discover things they'd rather have left undisturbed... hidden away in the suffocating, unfeeling, deafening brightness.
Once upon a time. Far, far away.
Propaganda
It’s a great and fucked up dissection of the Doctor and Charley’s relationship, with a healthy dose of body horror (anonymous)
you will never look at the handshake emoji the same way again (october)
Really creative concept. Puts 8 and Charley into a situation where they have to confront their relationship and what they mean to each other while dealing with an incredibly engaging creature. I can't name an audio that suits the medium better and Ive been consuming Big Finish at an alarming rate. Also noises™️ (anonymous)
Absolutely INSANE episode back when big finish was allowed to get WEIRD weird it has everything: heartfelt discussion about the doctor/companion relationship, love, cannibalism, body horror, the exploration of a very alien world. All of this while making full use of the audio medium in a story that could simply never have been done anywhere else. It's a must listen for everyone. (@gnougnouss )

After receiving the offer, I jumped into high gear to prepare for my new role. They were requiring me to be in the office in Silicon Valley. My prayers to move out of San Francisco had been answered. My whole reason for moving from New York to get to Silicon Valley that I initially dreamed at 21 had come true at 30. Although SF and my last company and becoming a software engineer was a goal that I accomplished in 2019, being a software engineer in Silicon Valley at this type of company was the initial goal. I found a church QUICKLY that seems to be everything I want: diverse, full of happy, friendly, and genuine people, but especially Black people. So many people of all races have welcomed me and asked for my number and check in on me and save me seats and invite me to lunches and hikes and game nights. I’m getting paid more than double what I was making at my last company. I have a quiet apartment with counter space in my bathroom and kitchen. I have a short commute and can walk 10 minutes to the shuttle stop that takes me to campus in a WiFi bus. This place has so much documentation. Services are stable and work. Setting up my laptop, schedule, goals, etc have been great. My team has been so welcoming. They constantly remind me to take my time and that I can hop in when I’m ready. There are 2 other Black women on my team. They invest a lot into their employees and brand. I have a great relationship with my parents and grandparents. My mom calls em everyday. My Mom continued to send me $1000 a month every month until I got my pay check. I didn’t get my paycheck until the end of my 2nd week, but she still sent money my first week of work. I had to move from the first place I moved in because the insulation was so poor that I heard EVERY footstep and thank God I followed what I believe to be His voice to look at my lease to see that they had a 30 day guarantee where I could break my lease no questions asked. I’m in a better place. I have a Costco membership. I get to buy clothes that fit that I enjoy wearing. I still need to be a good steward of the blessings God has given me. I learned how to trim my hair, so I’m truly independent with my hair care. I was freaking out about not knowing Java before I started my new role, but my manager planned before I got there to give me time to ramp up on the language but give me tasks in a language I already know so I could start delivering on the team. He is giving me space while allowing me to feel productive. I’ve received great feedback so far. I know what I’m being asked to do in my role. Things are clear. I feel more responsible. I be tired, but the office is a great temperature! Most of my team is scattered across the country and only me and another colleague come in the office, but we don’t even sit right next to each other so there’s no pressure to show up a certain way. She’s such a sweetheart. Upon meeting me, she asked if she could hug me. It felt like God was hugging me through her. Like, “You made it child.” I’m trying my best to remember where I came from, maintain in relationship with God, keep praying as I did when I really needed God to come through, expect only the best and not let my past or past bad habits haunt me. I went through what I went through for a reason. I’m more patient, responsible, happy, grateful, calm, trusting. When I learned my destination was closed when I got dropped off, my Uber driver said, “You took that pretty well. Most people would be mad.” I’ve come a long way to hear this. This was such a compliment. I’ve learned to chill. I practiced this before getting what I prayed for because I knew God would grant me it.
I know I will face challenges, but I know that I don’t need to worry. Before all these blessings, I thanked God for making it happen, because I knew He would. All while I got to stay true to myself and just focus on doing my best. I have prayers for my life, my career, a marriage, my finances, my health, my family, the world, and I know God is capable. I know things are going to turn out better than I expect.
I had been wanting to share God’s love with y’all for a while, I just needed time to settle in to all the newness. God did exceedingly, abundantly, above all I could ask or think. And He can do the same for you. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Holy Spirit. God bless you, reader. Whatever you’re going through, I know God can get you through.

⋆⁺₊❅⋆ snow & stars ⋆❅₊⁺⋆ a preview. [coming 12/28]
18+ only | no use of y/n| f!reader | oneshot | word count: TBD.
citing a lack of "team spirit," corporate requires you to attend the annual holiday office party (off the clock, of course) if you want to be eligible for your raise. luckily, the new guy makes things... interesting.
⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆•꙳⋆⋆₊ ͙͛ ˚❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆• ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
You wince. “You live in The Cells?” Timely has a series of hospitality dormitories — though you’re not sure they should even legally be able to call them that, and they’re usually referred to in more derogatory terms when Management isn’t around. The goal — according to Timely — is to support members of the Timely, Inc family who hail from further than the neighboring planets and space stations. Of course, the cost of “living on” in one of their windowless eight-by-eight-by-eight cubes-with-a-cot is deducted from the resident employee’s three-cycle paycheck, and it isn’t cheap.
The whole concept reminds you of company towns back on Earth — in short, bad news. Plus, you’ve seen The Cells before, and they’re fucking joyless places.
Inappropriate lodgings for the winter festivities.
But Rocket just shrugs and tilts his head consideringly. A little smirk flickers in the corner of his mouth. “I’d ask if you wanna come check mine out, but I don’t need an HR complaint brought against me already.”
It surprises another laugh out of you, and you roll your eyes. “Okay, but you can’t stay all alone in one of those cells for the holiday. This is like — the only time of the year that we actually get time off. I think even people who can’t go home are at least staying with friends for the next few days. You’ll be the only one here.” You raise an eyebrow. “And I suspect this place is creepy when it’s empty.”
He grins — and if he didn’t look so much like a raccoon, you’d think it was wolfish. “Wouldn’t be alone if you wanted to visit,” he reminds you pointedly, and you feel a little bloom of heat in your cheeks at that. He’s joking, right? He’s probably joking.
Still, though.
“Maybe you should come visit me instead,” you offer impulsively, then immediately want to bite your own tongue off.
Those pretty, holiday-red eyes go hooded and hungry. “Careful, sweetheart. Might take you up on that.”
You turn it over in your head. You haven’t exactly had a lot of one-night-stands but you figure – people have them all the time, and they’re fine. And it’s probably safer to have him come over to your well-populated neighborhood on Station Six than to stay here alone with a stranger until the shuttle starts running again after the holiday.
And he really shouldn’t be alone for the holiday. The Turning of the Multicalendar Year is like the local system’s equivalent of every major Earth holiday combined, and you already like this guy better than eighty-percent of your coworkers. Maybe more. He definitely doesn’t deserve to be alone.
And you suspect he doesn’t want to be.
You lean your back against the picnic table, right next to him, and tip your head up to the stars again, mulling it over.
“Okay,” you say at last, twisting on the bench to look up at him. His eyes linger on yours and you suddenly realize that even though your neckline isn’t outrageously low, he probably has an unobstructed view right down into your dress from his perch above you on the tabletop. You can feel the heat in your cheeks intensify. “Come to my place for the holiday.”
His eyes flare: molten-bright, and looking more alive than anything you’d seen from him all night. “Don’t know if fucking my coworkers is a smart move this early in my career,” he says dryly, but he tilts his head like he’s considering it. “Not exactly looking to start a relationship, either.”
“Don’t have to do either,” you say lightly, and he snickers.
“Sweetheart, I’m not trying to be a creep, but I promise—if I come home with you, you’re gonna try to get me in your bed.”

comics-based, very loosely inspired by the Timely, Inc arc in Annihilators, though i like... truly cannot abide timothy green ii's style of rocket in this series. try to imagine a nice jorge coelho or valerio schiti. check back here for a list of warnings as we get closer.

I have just been on my first holiday in over a decade and it was FANTASTIC. Absolutely exhausting, but fantastic.
Disneyland Paris is the most accessible place I have ever been, bar none. It's not the dropped kerbs that are really dropped (not just lowered) - though they were there throughout. It's not the ramps as well as steps - although again, they were everywhere. It's not that every shop and restaurant is accessible - though they are. It's not that the vast majority of rides and attractions are accessible, at least if you can transfer out of a wheelchair - because they are, and that's incredible.
It's that everything, from the Eurostar onwards, is designed with disabled people in mind, rather than an afterthought.
The lifts. The dedicated disabled queue lines. The attitude. The apology for being the last one taken off the train because they have to put the ramp in place. The help with bags at customs.
Then Disneyland.
There is a priority pass available at Disneyland Paris, if you have a required proof of disability - of which there is a lengthy list. This pass is variable, with different grades which take account of what you can and can't do. There was only one ride I wasn't allowed on, as I wouldn't have been able to evacuate from it.
And this pass? This pass doesn't give instant access. But it lets you into a separate queue. And that separate queue is shorter. And they let you into the rides, or the photo ops, at either the soonest moment they can or at a specified time. Because they recognise that many disabled people can't queue for long, and need different access often, and that access isn't just about a ramp.
And this is treated as normal. This is treated as perfectly understandable. There was no huffing from other people waiting in line. There was no criticism. At NO POINT was I treated as a nuisance for having access needs. At NO POINT did anybody complain about my mobility scooter. This wasn't just from cast members, either. It was everyone! Maybe it's because it's Disneyland and everyone was happy, but the normal attitude was 'oh, you go first', and 'oh, I'm sorry I wasn't looking' and 'you're very welcome' and 'can I help at all?'. Not just from employees but from other guests. Access needs came above prams and pushchairs, everywhere - including from parents! The shuttle bus to and from the hotel - every single time, the drivers made sure the prams moved to let me on. Every time. There was never, ever a question of 'sorry, there's a pushchair in the wheelchair space'. Ever.
The priority pass meant we got to every single ride we wanted to get to (I didn't rollercoaster because of Jellybean). It meant we managed to meet so many characters. It meant that by and large we could take our time. We could sit down for lunch, or a cuppa, without feeling we were wasting time that should have been spent queueing for rides. It meant I didn't have to roll out of bed as early as possible to fit everything in. So I'm absolutely knackered, of course I am, but not as much as I could have been.
It meant my first holiday in over a decade, that I had saved for for months, was the best holiday I could ever have dreamed of, and something I will never, ever forget.
Because access isn't just about ramps. And it's possible. It's possible to design with disabled people of all sorts of limitations in mind. It's possible to create an atmosphere where disabled people aren't a nuisance, and treated as a nuisance. It's possible to do that so well that even the other guests picked up on it and adopted that attitude.
Also, I got a hug from Winnie the Pooh. That was just MARVELOUS.

Encountering Cassiopeia
You came to Grimrose for the beach and stayed an extra week for the stories of the place. You never considered yourself to be interested in the tales Grimrose was peddling to people like you, but there was only so much to do here. Eventually, that museum in The Outskirts had to visited. You didn’t expect to meet a contained explosion of pink there, though. Her makeup was perfectly done and she looked like someone managed to bring a Barbie to life. How someone like that was working in a place like this, you had no idea. She was cute though. Figured you might as well shoot your shot, leave this little place with the story of a summer fling.
When the group she was helping left and she shuttled them on her way with a wave of manicured fingers, she turned to a notebook, stuffed with loose papers in black ink, the same ink that stained her hands. She held that book like it held the secrets of the world, like it was a lover. You messed with your hair, trying to look artfully disheveled. “Hey,” you greeted as you walked over. “What’re you working on? Your next great novel?”
She turned to you with a smile. “I’m charting historical Bigfoot sightings and then cross referencing them with UFO sightings! I think the Grays that I’ve been seeing might be related to a previously unknown species of ape-like creatures that we think are Bigfoots! We’ll see if there’s any relation to my theory that the Jersey Devil is a more mutated Chupacabra!”
It seems you made a mistake.

work complaints of the day I promise I love my job I’ve just been irritated lately
love when people protest against our policies because they were made to protect us from people damaging our property or not paying. they’re always like but I wouldn’t do that!!! it’s not fair that I get punished for other people’s behavior. like sorry but I don’t know you or what you would do my dude. the policy is there for a reason.
and then my shuttle driver is trying to refuse an 81 year old man shuttle rides because she doesn’t want to cart him around to his errands. ma’am, he is old and doesn’t understand technology and he only has cash. he can’t take an uber or a taxi. if it’s in our shuttle radius just take him.
AND THENNN one of my employees told another employee how much she gets paid hourly. The other employee then asked my boss for a raise because she was making less than the first employee while working night audit, which is usually at a higher pay rate. I am absolutely fine with that and I’m proud of her for speaking up for herself. MY BOSS however wanted me to tell my employee that it is against policy to discuss wages. I told him absolutely not, that is illegal and I will do no such thing. He asked me to send her to him to discuss and I told him absolutely not, I will do no such thing. Then I sent said employee a link to the NLRB’s website that details her rights, including the fact that it is illegal for any US employer to forbid discussion of wages, retaliate or punish for such discussion, or even interrogate the employee about doing so.
He called her into his office to talk to her anyway. I’m furious. As soon as she came out of his office, I went over her rights with her and told her that he never should have said anything at all, and that there was a phone number on the NLRB’s website to call to report violations of her employee rights. She said she’s not going to call, but honestly I might. I don’t care if I’m a manager. Don’t fuck with my employees’ right to discuss wages.
