If you’re in the right headspace for it, please learn about Emily Pike. Heavy trigger warnings for brutal murder, dismemberment, and generally disturbing disregard for the life of a child.
She should not be forgotten. None of the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls should be forgotten.

Say the name Emily Pike. She is a 14 year old, indigenous, girl, found dismembered in Arizona.
She deserves to be remembered and for her story to be heard. She doesn’t have blonde hair and she isn’t white.
But she is just as important as Gabby Petito, etc., and she needs to be seen.
Don’t look away. Share this, just like you would share if a white girl’s remains were found.
She’s a person. 💔

people in the troubled teen industry community are glossing over the fact that emily pike was an indigenous child and part of the mmiw crisis. people everywhere else are glossing over the fact that she was in a group home that she had a history of running away from because she didn't want to be there, a group home that itself had a history of kids running away, with staff that failed to efficiently communicate with her mother about her disappearance.
i am not indigenous and i don't really feel like it's my place to discuss the role of the troubled teen industry in indigenous communities or in emily's case specifically, but it does bother me that nobody seems to be getting at the full picture.

Here is another fundraiser I'd like to bring attention to as we remember the tragic murder of Emily Pike. As well as all the missing and murdered native women, men, and children.
St. Joseph’s Indian School and Native Hope work together to better the lives of Native American children and families.
Together they address the unique needs of Native Americans and their communities. Whether it's through residential education, health services, food boxes or collaborating with tribal leaders, the collective efforts aim to break down barriers and foster hope, paving the way for a brighter future for all.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY // S2E2 New Eden Since the other day, when the red burst appeared in the sky, I knew you were coming. That was the light from your ship, right? Your hands, your skin unravaged by the labor we do here. You're not from Terralysium. I can see the truth in your eyes.
