We might have real dragon pets now.
But I still imagine these two are still real in the sso universe. But that they bit smaller than they are in game.
Their faces and mouths are on the underside of the body which usually suggest they eat something that need their mouth to be downwards.
So my idea is that they are blood suckers. (I have had this idea since we got them but I also wanted real actuall dragons) That they grab on to bigger animals like moose, cows, horses maybe even bears and suck their blood. Similar to vampire bats. And they also have their flat bodies with hard large scales on their back to make it difficult for the animals they feed on to shake or screatch them off.

The threat of a volcano on an abandonned city
I often publish image of overgrown city by nature, but they are always contemporary or modern. This is why i choose to change the time period to antiquity with a roman city.

Another 40 years on, Emerald is living in a care home, when the mysterious old woman finally closes the distance between them. And, Emerald is magically transported back to 2024, where she waves at her past self and the Inspector to warn them to avoid the faerie ring.
At the same moment, the Inspector recalls his trial before the Unseelie Court, the time loop is broken and he avoids stepping into the faerie ring, meaning Emerald never lived out her life and prevented Aindrea MacRaibert from wrecking the UK. Oops!

Satin Pillows To Cry On
Tumblr media
CW: coercion with money, age gap(7 yrs), transactional marriage, obsessive/yandere behavior
gn! reader
﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀
You’ve got nothing else, no one else to rely on.
‘You’re something he bought to keep from growing old.”
Your clothes are worth small countries. Your cars stacked in 3-level garages. Diamonds, emeralds, pearls hanging from your wrists and ears, satchels made of endangered animal skins, different shoes for each day of the year.
Your boyfriend of three years spat at your feet when you told him what you were doing.
“His money can’t love you, not like I can.
The wedding was only two months away when you broke up with him, told him you couldn’t live in his broke-down apartment anymore, that you couldn’t live with debt trailing wherever you went. You went so far as to make him hate you, to tell him that you never wanted to see him again, that you never loved him, that he better not bother showing up to the wedding. You didn’t want him there, you never wanted to see him again.
“You’re lying to me; he’s making you say these things, he’s using you against me! You’ve known him what-- two seconds, and you’re going to marry this man?! He’s nearly a decade older than you!”
Seven years of an age gap or not, he was still a thousand times more independent, wealthy, and a safer choice than your boyfriend. You weren’t some fresh college student new to the world, you had graduated over two years ago, still finding no luck in getting a stable income-- forget about whether or not it was in the field of your degree.
You left in a single day, fitting all of your scavanged belongings into one of your fiance’s awaiting cars. You left anything worth of value with your ex-boyfriend, knowing he’d find more use out of it than you would. You would even leave the rest of your things there if he could find use for them, but you knew they’d just be one more painful reminder of your betrayal.
He did as you said, not showing up to your wedding, staying clear, never appearing in your line of sight since the day you left. It made it easier…. For both of you that way.
And now you were happy-- well, maybe not happy, maybe not even content, but you were… safe. You had everything you needed: a working car, a stable job that you felt productive in, a clean and comforting house to come home to, a spouse. Sure, maybe you didn’t get your new job yourself, or your house or your car-- but did that really matter, in this economy? Who wouldn’t trade their life and their independence for this kind of wealth?
And your husband… he wasn’t all bad. He might have only wanted you for the sake of having you at first, like a new jewel or the latest technological invention. But he was doting and caring in his own way. Maybe just a tiny bit too invested in you, in your schedule and who you talked to. A little too hateful towards your ex-boyfriend, the one who had you before he could. But everyone had character flaws, and on good days you could distract him from his grumpy mood and stress and obsessive behaviors by being the loving and oh so perfect spouse you had trained yourself to be ever since he asked to marry you.
“Colder than all that gold…” You repeated in your mind, the words your family whispered to each other at your wedding reception only a few feet away from you.
That was over six months now, though… the honeymoon phase never existed, you rarely saw your husband except for his midnight appearances back from the office, and whenever he would whisk you away for a weekend vacation to savor the time he had with you. For someone more sophisticated, much wealthier, and dare you say handsomer than the average man-- you were surprised to find he didn’t have a line of divorces behind him.
No; he said, he had been “waiting for you.” whether  you or he knew it, he understood right from the moment of meeting you that you were the one he’d have for the rest of his life, even if it killed him. That severity… scared you. But in a sick sense, it made you feel relieved. Forever? This could be yours, forever? Your family would never have to struggle again, you would never have to worry where your next meal came from?
“I cleared your schedule until tuesday; we’re going to the isles. A mini vacation, you might call it. Get your things.”
He was cold, that was for sure. But, was he any worse than your ex-boyfriend, especially when he was offering you an expensive experience on top of that?
“All right..” You acquiesced.
And now, you lied sunken into the bed feeling his loving, hot breath on your navel. Going so sweetly slow, so oddly and uncharacteristingly lingering with his touches as he gazes into your eyes. You didn’t like this; didn’t like that when he was cherishing you, making love to you, holding you so intimately, he was appearing… like a husband should. Where did he get the nerve to ignore you everyday, to have hardly any time for you, only to come back and beg for your love when it was convenient for him?
But you keep your mouth shut, like you should, if you want to keep eating breakfast in bed, keep wearing silk robes while watching the view of the ocean outside your window.
“So beautiful…you’re like a work of art, the kind no amount of money can buy.”
That was funny, hilarious even. Enough so to make you cry.
A familiar face passes by the slightly ajar door to distract you, likely one of the housekeepers leaving for the night. But you swear the man’s figure reminds you of someone from your past, someone you loved and left for good.
Your husband brings back your attention by placing a gentle kiss to your temple, blindly undoing the clasp of the necklace he bought you.
“I’m so lucky… so lucky to have been the one to catch you, forever. No one could’ve done it, not without what I have.”
He wanted you to kiss and caress back, but sometimes lying still was just enough. It was enough for him to witness you, basking in the glow of everything you wore from him, lying in the Egyptian cotton sheets he paid extra for, your body molded to the diet his personal chefs cooked.
Even as he pushed a knee between your legs, traveling from your navel to your stomach with open-mouthed sucks and kisses in the rawest form of affection, you couldn’t help but turn your face deep into the pillow. So soft, the soft purple shielding your eyes from his tender gaze.
You might’ve given up love, given up everything familiar and those who you’ve cared for-- but at least you had satin pillows to cry on, and the finest jewelry to wipe your tears with.

[ Astarion x f!Reader/Tav ] | ao3 link
rating: explicit | word count: 3.7k | status: complete themes/tags: vaginal sex, vaginal fingering, creampie, feelings realization, denial of feelings, light angst at the end, you know the sex scene after the tiefling party?, yeah so this is it, with astarions pov, already catching feelings smh, smut is halfway through, just skip to after all early dialogue
----------------------------------------------------
Little did he know that evening, that was the beginning of his simple plan crumbling apart.
In other words: Astarion has been struggling to balance century-long instincts with newfound feelings, an undeniable connection. He carries out his simple little plan as intended, but meets complications he didn't quite expect. ----------- A/N: so i hung up my cod medals of honor to write this.. i've been playing for a month now. originally posted without proofreading, but its now edited for grammar and some terms -----
It was hard not to have fun around you.
Something of a child-like giddiness would buzz through his nerves whenever you sauntered over, his marbled red eyes wouldn't dare to miss a beat of the vision you were. Swaying hips and that deceivingly coy face. Of course, you were strikingly beautiful – a wickedly delectable sight – but that wasn’t the only source of his carnal anticipation.
It was just you, the enigmatic little thing you were.
Admittedly, Astarion believed he had read you like an open book the moment he laid eyes on you. It was an instinct of his: gathering a cerebral repository of notable ticks and body language, facial twitches, and octave changes in those around him. Watchful, constant observations.
He had chalked you up to a sort of stoic character at first. Graceful, to a degree, in your manner of subtly balancing the world around you. A stable composure, quick and quiet without brash or idle chatter.. unlike that Gale. You were a less flagrantly repulsive hero-type crafted in his mind – but he had still expected you to be oh-so predictable with a shallow drive for self-emaciating ‘justice’. Whereas the others wore their baggage like a garment, you held your cards close to your chest – like a chameleon suddenly thrust into the spotlight.
Yet the sun rose and fell two or three times around the wilderness of Elturel, when he found himself pleasantly contradicted. He normally didn’t dedicate much attention towards someone he believed he so easily pegged, but his interest began to pique. Just enough to leave him sitting with an edge and a consuming desire to peer in closer.
Maybe it was the way your mouth twitched into a quiet smile during his verbal antics on the road or the firm passiveness you held from the blighted village to the drama of Emerald Grove; an intoxicatingly confusing blend of traits you harbored. The closer he watched you, the less blurred you became. You didn’t fear being authentic and enforcing boundaries to those who attempted to use you – but you weren’t cruel; you met the world around you just as it was, without discrimination. No unnecessary harm, no free handouts either.
Or perhaps it was your sarcastic remarks that stirred what little glee he had in him; an especially delicious and refreshing insight into your humor. While he could care to give a critical note or two on your lack of blatant cruelty, Astarion respected your compelling demeanor; he witnessed how all these companions turned their eyes so frequently to you with decision.
But what he did know for sure was the eye contact.
Gods, the first time your heads swiveled mid-strife and your gazes locked with a rich crackle – the memory alone was enough to stupefy him! Something strange stirred, something that didn’t sit comfortably. He didn’t know  what to make of it.
With all this said, that same sensation boiled inside his stomach as he mulled over his every interaction with you. He recalled that moment of midnight – when all was still and you had caught him prepared to taste your throat. Your wary stare pierced through him, washing away briefly the desperate pangs of blood-thirst and left him feeling.. nervous.
Ugh, how he despised the feeling.
He was sickened when all those ledgers of observations caved in on himself, caught in his pale throat. He had taken such an overwhelming liking to you – to the extent, he had realized, that he was drawn to your guidance, your approval; a repulsive frustration at the time enough to coil through his cold veins. Without much to say, however, he was adamantly relieved when you conceded and soon regularly allowed him to drink from your slender neck.
His trail of thoughts glossed over your stifled grunts onto the following morning: when you came to his defense as everyone felt the need to chime in with their unfettered prejudices. And how his ease, his excitement around you became persistently potent – a fresh energy that filled him as you spurred on his teasings and whims. Astarion noticed your subtle release of your ever-strong walls, just enough so he could relish in your humor and affable side.
There was always a hesitation at doting on the sensation that rose inside him at these thoughts of you. He surmised he was merely back in the practice; where he spun honeyed words and charmingly guile eye contact, to wrap his target around his finger. Any little edge of control he could grasp onto, the familiar taste of influence he used to know so well. These habits of two hundred years were kicking in. He’d play the part and – sooner or later – this eagerness to please would be reversed onto you.
Whether it was his own willful denial or the culmination of fate’s ever-spinning thread, the first crumble began the night of the tiefling party.
.
Cool and clear was the star-freckled night. Everything was too merry for him: the wide-toothed grins of the tieflings, sharp strums of the lute, the chatter. Even the wine was downright awful, pungent and tart like vinegar.
Astarion would’ve normally indulged in his bitter mood, but it was the sight of your drunken smile that diffused his prior desire to complain.
How interesting, he thought as his eyes lapped up your squinted grin and eased laughter. It was helplessly infectious to see you so earnest, casually prattling on in conversation throughout the camp.
Red eyes followed while you made your rounds, encouraging the tiefling’s dancing lights spell and conversing with the bard. Astarion even raised a brow at the playful expression that washed over your face as you spoke to the hulking druid by the name of Halsin.  When you strolled over to Shadowheart and he caught that carefully provocative glint in the raven-haired cleric’s eyes – a chord of jealousy grew taut inside his chest.
He had half the mind to feel insulted that you hadn’t wandered in his direction yet, but that was quickly dispersed when he noticed you dismiss yourself and head towards a wooden crate near the riverfront.
Almost like a shadow, Astarion swept in your direction. Whether it was to merely take in your smile up close or to put his plan in motion, he settled on the latter. You were rifling through the crate that held what could barely pass as wine, muttering a quiet curse about the little tiefling probably pocketing a bottle or two.
“Here’s my little treat with her cheeks all flushed,” the words dripped from his mouth with a sweet cadence. “You will come to my bed tonight, won’t you?”
You swiveled at the sound of his voice, raised brow accompanying your hazy smile. The influence of wine lowered your usual wariness, and he caught the realization flutter across your face; there was no constitution in attempting to act reserved, especially with the rapport you two had grown. Amusement was written all over your face, hardly concealed – you had decided to play along.
“A little treat? You can do better than that.”
“Oh, I certainly can. It would be my pleasure.”
He leaned closer, half-lidded eyes darkening and breath heavy with a mischievous delight. You watched him expectantly, reveling in what would pour from his lips.
“How about this one,” he loosened his posture, as if you both were stowed away from the entire world instead of dawdling along the outskirts of the shoddy camp. “All these accolades from the tieflings are nothing compared to the sound of my name, cried from your lips.”
Astarion watched the smile further spread across your soft lips, the wickedly sweet crinkle in your eyes while you crossed your arms. An exhilaration rose underneath his suave demeanor, even the bemused snicker invigorating.
“Is that the best you can do?” came your quick quip.
“Hmm, let me give it another go,” his voice was thick with arousal, a hungry glint in his eyes. “Every part of your perfect body whispers temptation – it’s as if the Gods made you just to ruin me.”
His words clung to the air for a moment. The deliberate onslaught of poetic pleasantries laced with such ardent lust, the hum of the wine – Astarion studied your face swirling in thought. Heat had built up from the lower half of your body up to your cheeks, a quiet neediness wavering in your stance and threatened to boil to the surface of your skin.
Gods, you were thinking, it had been the longest time and you’ve been touch-starved.. more so under the urgency of all the trouble you had been thrust into. You never trusted a pretty boy, but you'd be damned if his flowered prose didn't stir something in you; you had never been the subject of such pursuits, real or not. Desire rushed through you, coiling in your stomach.
There was a beckoning in his eyes as they clutched onto yours, imporing you to draw closer, and his boyish features were even more alluring when caressed by the moon’s glow. However, you couldn’t bring yourself to trust those flowery words. They were tinted with an air of rehearse.
“Did these really work on Cazador’s targets?”
“Well, they’re working on you, aren’t they?”
A mild bashfulness buzzed through the warmth on your cheeks, as you couldn’t really deny it.
“How about if I said these little words… everyone’s favorite,” Astarion continued, pausing for effect.
“I love you.”
Sly amusement colored his face. He had succeeded in riling up the intrinsic urge, no matter how much you tried to conceal it. How adorable you were when your gaze fluttered briefly.
“Having fun, are you?” you observed, smile holding on your lips.
As he had mused earlier, he was. It was hard not to whenever around you.
.
Festivities settled down, the entire camp fast asleep once the wine crate had emptied and bellies were full. Only the chittering of crickets could be heard amongst the trees.
The forest, usually dressed in potent darkness, stilled beneath the moonlight. A serene, subtle beauty of the night – one Astarion was very accustomed to knowing, to living . He had done this so many times it had become second nature – the salacious rendezvous, the secrecy and fleeting thrill of them all.
He had contemplated before, the image of you melting in the throes of pleasure. He wondered whether you preferred his hands gentle or rough, what sounds would dribble from your lips – if they sounded as sweet as you tasted.
Though nothing could prepare him for the reality, which far surpassed fantasy; the pretty little thing you were, bare figure caressed by the lowlight, slowly making your way towards him.
“There you are. I’ve been waiting.”
You offered him a coy smile, cheeks still warm and rosy. An ache rushed between your legs at the sight of him sauntering forward, his well-formed broad physique. Lean, yet muscular – and the soft details of his appearance; the crease of laughter lines, the curl of his lashes. Just the anticipation of it all served enough to make you wet.
“Waiting since the moment I set eyes on you. Waiting to have you,” he leaned closer, desire coating every syllable.
“You don’t have me yet,” you matched the pulse of his words, emanating a playfulness to goad him on further.
Greedy lips suddenly met yours, and you were pressed against the tree trunk. His palms gripped the back of your thighs, swift dexterity almost catching you off guard. You instantly melted, like a puddle, in his grasp; your soft lips just as eager, skin aching and impatient for his touch. You never realized how sensitive you were, how truly touch-starved until you fought the gasp that escaped your throat.
Astarion didn’t waste a beat, carefully laying you onto the grass below while he drawled slow kisses along the curve of your neck. Fervent yearning permeated from your skin; you wanted more, and he was prepared to give you everything .
He drank in the sight of your arousal, eager to please you yet potently roused from the position he was in: you were such a delectably pretty thing sprawled beneath his weight, completely bare and vulnerable. Wide eyes bashfully beckoning him to just taste you.
“Part those precious legs for me, beautiful.” He directed, his voice less of a growl this time – instead more sweet. Soft.
You could feel your face heat up further at his words, following his command without hesitation. Tender hands trailed along the soft skin of your thigh, his intense eyes briefly leaving yours to watch his fingers lingered over your folds – you were glistening with slick , fevered arousal.
“Oh my, you’re already so wet for me.”
His voice was almost a whisper now, as a keen excitement rushed through his veins. A twitch pressed against his briefs, his cock already hard and eager especially when his eyes darted towards your rosy. So willing, ready to indulge his every whim. For a moment, he settled in your vulnerability – a sight he didn't expect to see. You were always full of such delicious surprises.
He shook the thought from his mind, allowing a sly smile to return to his lips.
“Who knew you were so needy?”
Your cheeks flushed, timid lips scrambling to form a defensive retort before he slipped two fingers inside. Only a quiet gasp left your mouth as your soaking warmth struggled to adjust, tightening around his digits. You were barely able to comprehend the words he said, instinctively bucking your hips.
“ Astar ..” your breath hitched before you could even finish, when his fingers began a slow pace. Teasingly slow, you would beckon, but there was nothing you could even fathom whispering anymore. Your walls began to clench, eager to receive his unwavering attention.
Hums of pleasure pulsed through your every nerve, rapidly as he fastened the curling pace of his fingers. Every hitched and quiet whimper encouraged him, his palm soaked with your slick. He relished the sight of your round breasts rising and falling feverishly, your heat clenched around him – his cock further hardened, precum no doubt pooling on the fabric of his briefs.
All you could manage was to focus on the pleasure mounting between your legs, thighs now quivering with anticipation. His thumb slid up to your swollen clit, never breaking pace, to draw teasingly slow circles. He adjusted his weight to lean closer to your face, the sudden attention causing an overwhelming shyness to press your eyes shut. Your thighs trembled more now while his fingers beckoned and lured your pleasure to spur closer and closer.
“Look at me,” he whispered, his voice the gentlest you’ve ever heard.
He couldn’t place the sensation – of feeling entranced in a sense, when whimpers of pleasure fumbled from your beautiful lips. Astarion almost felt lost, nearly mesmerized, when you kept those pretty eyes trained on his. He could feel his eyes soften at your vulnerable stare, and all at once everything inside him craved to slide into your warmth. To feel you melt into him, to hit every right spot to make you sing, for every sweet prayer cascading from your lips to be for him.
“Mmf..” You were left in a sudden foggy haze, a mix of pleasure and confusion when he abruptly withdrew his fingers. You couldn’t fathom any words to speak, only furrowed your brows in a hazed and disorientated manner.
“I’m sorry, love.” His breathless laugh seemed dazed before the low, heaviness returned to his tone, “You were practically just begging with those lovely eyes of yours.”
He leaned downwards to plant soft, reassuringly delicate pecks across the nape of your neck; each a mantra to affection, leaving a buzz in their wake. Carefully he peeled down his briefs with a wasted moment to rub his eager cock against your slick warmth.
Your moans sounded even sweeter closer to his ear, and a delighted sigh pressed from his lips onto your skin. His throbbing cock was met with some resistance as the length and girth was suffocated by your tightening walls, warm spasms at the sensation being filled.
A guttural, low moan hummed from his throat. Fuck, you were so perfectly tight.
His cock pulsed at the sudden attention, aching with pleasure and a warm buzz radiating through his skin. He paused for a moment, needing to relish every second it felt to be now pressed so deep inside you. The softness of your skin, delicate cues of pleasure washing over your face, how your warm walls enveloped his cock.
You moaned as he pushed more of his length inside your needy warmth, tears beginning to well up in the corner of your eyes. Pleasure and slight pain blurred, the tip of his cock almost pressed against your soft cervix and a rouse of heat traveling up your spine.
His hands gripped the globes of your ass to adjust his leverage, slowly but deliberately digging his hips against yours with each thrust. His body was achingly ready, alive with frantic urge. He was incapable of any pretty words to whisper, tangled groans replacing his usual velvet tongue.
As he pounded quicker into your warmth, your pulsating soft walls sucked his cock tighter and deeper with each buckle. He nestled his head into the nape of your neck. Sweat formed on his pale forehead as he wrestled with his restraint, his cock stroking in and out, hitting pleasure points you never knew existed and relishing in your shameless cries – desperate for him.
Soft, warm pleasure unraveled across you in hot waves. If you had the mind, you could only hope that no one could hear you two – the sounds and wet smacks of his skin colliding against yours – but all you could do was turn your pleasured cries and whimpers into soundless gasps.
Your lips parted, hips bucking before your back arched from the ground. Every fiber of your body attempted to get closer to him, and his to you. Of some act of grace, your hand caressed his face, lifting him to face yours.
Oh, how he wanted to melt right there.
Eager eyes met each other, brows furrowing together into a soft, tender stare. Astarion’s hips began to buck erratically for a moment as he struggled to regain his resolve. Once steadied, he continued to bury deeper into you in every perfect way. You were clenched so tightly, so divinely around him while his name trickled as a whisper from your lips.
“You – fuck .. “ you couldn’t be bothered to form a proper sentence, every whim of comprehension overwhelmed by new heights of white pleasure. You were lulled into a stupor, and his grip tightened at your garbled pleas.
“Thaaat’s it,” Astarion practically begged, voice ragged, his eyes never leaving your beautiful face as it twisted with sweet expressions. An eagerness gnawed inside him, to push you to the edge of your pleasures. You were so perfect while you cried his name, taking all of him so well.
“Come for me, sweet girl –” Hushed and delicate was his tone, only causing you to surrender any inhibition.
Heat wound tightly in your abdomen, lashes wet with the tears trailing down your warm face. Every nerve was wound so tight, finally snapping into a rush of white hot pleasure that left your skin flushed and tingling. You tried to whine out his name, but it spilled out into broken gasps as you reached your fingers to grip his silver curls.
His hips began to stagger, riding out your pleasure until he could no longer postpone the succumb to pleasure. They lost their rhythm, and a low moan rumbled from his throat as he surrendered to the overwhelming sensation of your tightening walls, pressing into you.
You could feel his cock throbbing in you, as your nerves are slow to fizzle from the glowing buzz, and it swelled. Your slick walls were overstimulated nearly by his desperate, choppy thrusts before a cry escapes his lips – his cum flooded into you, thick and hot. He felt waves of warmth, so real and alive. So helplessly right.
The air was silent, as you both collected your breaths in hurried gasps. Astarion peeled his weight off of you only to roll onto his back, by your side. Your body felt light and completely slack, almost boneless as you sunk into the earth underneath you. Aftershocks of pleasure still rippled throughout your nerves.
Both of you laid sweaty, flushed, exhausted, lacking the energy to care. You broke the silence with a wobble in your voice.
“Fuck, you came inside me..” you stated the obvious, reeling from pulsing nerves and vision hazy.
“I’m sure the druids have something that’ll take care of that..” Astarion said breathlessly, extending an arm to wipe the sweat glistening off his forehead.
He waited for a quiet laugh or a retort, but neither came.
Turning his head, he was met with the vision of your exhausted figure fast asleep. Slowly your chest rose and fell, face at ease – a vulnerability he had only seen when you were in deep sleep, if you weren't tossing and turning.
The quiet sat with him while he attempted to gather his thoughts, his experience. He had seen an entirely different side of you – exposed delicate. Part of his conscience pooled with guilt.
He had a plan. A nice simple plan. It wasn’t foreign to casually bed strangers, seducing and manipulating them into following his every whim. Hells, this had been routine for two hundred years . The count was lost on how many nights he spent using people like ragdolls, only to be lured back into the hands of Cazador.
Astarion returned his gaze to the stars glistening above, attempting his best at reducing it to the odd circumstances or perhaps he was simply out of practice.
Regardless – even if it was more than a fluke – he had already fucked things up. The thought felt tainted now, uneasy and riddled with remorse.
Little did he know that evening, that was the beginning of his plan crumbling apart.

DARK CONTENT! DO NOT READ IF TRIGGERED EASILY!!
-> sorry for the wait, life's been hectic
-> yall got me fucked up. The eren smut tag be so dry nowadays
-> part 1
The last few days, you've been feeling uneasy
Eren's been avoiding you ever since that night he stormed into your house and fucked you unconscious
You desperately want to talk to someone about your feelings but can't due to:
1. lack of friends... scratch that, you don't have any friends
2. Your mother doesn't give a flying fuck about you
3. Eren... The person who is causing you to feel this way
You can't put your finger on it, but it's a gut feeling that something bad is going to happen
Nonetheless, you can't just wallow in your bed all day so you get up to get ready for your 12pm lecture
Everything seemed normal until you started to feel nauseous upon your arrival at school
You thought maybe it was because you hadn’t ate anything in the morning, so it’s just empty stomach nausea
But no.
The nausea was then followed with a pang of dizziness and before you knew it, you collapsed onto the floor.
Waking up in a hospital bed and being met with emerald eyes was not ideal
It was unfair how pretty he was. How could someone look like a prince from a fairy tale be so ruthless and cold?
His hand reached to touch your cheek, gently caressing it. You can’t remember the last time he touched you so gently like this.
“I’m gonna go get the nurse to make sure you’re stable.” He spoke is a calm, gentle tone. Despite all the shit he’s put you through, you couldn’t help but feel safe, wanted and loved when he spoke to you in that moment.
He left the room and you took the chance to sit upright and look at your surroundings. There was a fruit platter, a teddy bear and some flowers on the table.
How long have you been out for??
Panic began to settle in, but luckily Eren and his father walked into the room. Right, his father was a doctor.
After some small talk, he did a quick checkup and said that there’s nothing to be concerned about. He got up and paged a nurse before leaving you and Eren alone again.
“Am I able to go home now? Your dad said I’m fine.”
“Not quite yet. There’s something that we need to tell you.”
The door opens and a machine is pushed into the room. The nurse wheeled in a sonogram?
“What do you need that for?”
“To check on how your little bean is doing sweetheart.”
It looked like a vampire sucked all the blood out of you. You went pale. Is this what your gut was warning you about?
Instantly, you begin freaking out. Thrashing around, trying to get up and away from this hospital, away from this city, away from this life and more importantly, away from him.
Eren holds you down on the bed and tried his best to keep you calm. He knew your reaction wouldn’t be pleasant, but you couldn’t possibly despise him this much, right?
“What is she talking about? I- I can’t be pregnant! I’m too young. Please god, this is not happening. Why me?” You begin sobbing, as Eren holds you close to him, sitting on your bed and pulling your body onto his.
“Could you give us a moment please” eren cleared his throat and eyed the nurse as she left and closed the door behind her.
It was like a switch went off in him and he grabbed your jaw tightly, pulling your face close to his.
“Stop fucking crying. You’re embarrassing me. You’re the one who fucking caused me to do this. You kept trying to leave me without a reason. Even though I pleaded with you to stay, to give me another chance to fix my mistakes. But you didn’t. I know the reason why you broke up with me is to whore around. Like your mother who doesn’t even know who your dad is. Now unlike your whore mother, this baby has a father. And I have no plans on abandoning my child because I don’t want them to turn out like you. So sit up straight and let her take the ultrasound. You’re ruining what’s supposed to be a happy moment for first time parents.”
He roughly let go of your jaw and called the nurse back in while you sat upright again and wiped the tears away.
Eren lifted your gown to expose your stomach and pulled up the blanket so you weren’t exposed down there. The cool gel was spread on your stomach and before you knew it, a small bean was presented on the sonogram screen.
Your heart began to soften up after realizing that you were growing a baby in your stomach.
But the tears wouldn’t stop. You ended up turning away from the screen and closing your eyes, trying to figure out what you’re going to do.
After the nurse left to print out the pictures, Eren helped you get dressed so you could finally leave this depressing place.
The car ride was silent. You had the bouquet of flowers resting on your lap while you played with the ultrasound photos with your fingers
You noticed eren was headed back to his place so you cleared your throat and asked him to drop you off at your place.
“I’m not gonna leave you alone. Not when you’re pregnant with my child. We’re gonna be staying at my place so I can take care of you. We also have to search for a house to settle in before the baby’s arrival.”
“Eren, all of that isn’t necessary. I’m still in my first trimester.”
“Even more reason for you to stay with me. The first trimester is always the riskiest. And I’m not taking that risk.”
“I can’t just up and leave everything, Eren. My lease isn’t up until July and I have a job too.”
“I don’t care. I’ll pay whatever I have to, and break the lease.”
Panic began to set in
Tears started forming in your eyes and the palms of your hands became clammy
The idea of being tied to Eren for the rest of your life made your heart pound in your ears and your stomach churn
You’d be signing your freedom away
You wouldn’t be able to go to school, or have a job
You’d be stuck at home as a house wife, like he’s always wanted
You couldn’t let that happen
no no no no no
It was a stupid, impulsive decision
But you were desperate to get out of his car and stay away from his place
So you blurted,
“What if it’s not yours?!”
It was the straw that broke the camel’s back
I know I didn’t answer this request to the full extent, but tbh if I did, you’d have to wait an additional 10 months.

Dead Man Walking || LN4 {2}
Pairing: Lando Norris x fem!reader Summary: Christmas with the Norris’ is a long standing tradition but will that still be the case after this years? Warnings: 18+ only, angst and fluff WC: 3.5k F1 Masterlist || one || two
Tumblr media
Flo’s old bedroom in her parent’s house hadn’t changed since she moved out. There were still glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling that you had helped her to stick up when you were fifteen. Lando had made fun of them and called them lame as walked past the doorway, but he had still come and held your chair stable when you were precariously close to tipping over.
“What are you staring at?” Flo asked as she walked in to find you lying on her bed, eyes on the roof.
“Nothing, have you picked a dress yet?” She huffed at your question and opened her closet with a shake of her head. “You do realise the party has already started.”
There was no way to miss it with the christmas music drifting up the staircase and echoing along the hall. Every year was the same, it didn’t matter that all their children had left home - Adam and Cisca still held the annual event and attendance was non-negotiable, even for you.
The bedroom door opposite Flo’s opened and Lando froze from tugging at the black tie as he caught sight of you. A slow smile grew on his face and he started to take a step forward until Flo appeared with a dress in hand. She held the floor length gown up to her body and swayed the metallic-finish material side to side. “What do you think?”
“Didn’t disco balls go out of fashion in the 80’s?” Lando teased, drawing her attention to the doorway.
“Didn’t ask your opinion, noob,” she shot back as she grabbed the door and shut it in his face. “I can’t believe he’s staying all week too. Doesn’t he have anything better to do?”
“You should be thinking about your dress right now,” you reminded her as you got up and searched the rack for another option. “Here, this is perfect.”
You could hardly explain to her that you were the real reason Lando was staying local all week. For six months you had stolen nights together, not only avoiding the paparazzi and fans always trying to snap photos of him, but more importantly, Flo. The guilt was a constant fist squeezing your stomach but every time you thought about telling her the truth, the fear of her response kept your lips sealed. Then months had passed by and you thought it would be even worse to admit how long the secret had been kept.
“Babe! This is why you are my best friend,” Flo exclaimed as she dropped what she held to take the emerald green chiffon dress from your hands. “What would I do without you?”
Your smile was forced as you wondered the very same thing. Your mothers had joined the same playgroup before you could walk but you had crawled to Flo and face planted, accidentally headbutting her and making you both cry, but you had been inseparable ever since. Whenever you made a promise to each other it was sealed with the mantra from cradle to grave - ensuring the promise would be as strong and long lasting as your friendship.
You caught the empty hanger she tossed back and hooked it back onto the rack. “End up looking like a disco ball, apparently.”
“Not even,” she said with a roll of her eyes as she shimmied into the dress. “I refuse to take fashion advice from a man who has a hoodie for every occasion.”
You laughed at the completely true statement and pointed at the door. “Not tonight though.”
“That’s not by choice. Mum said he had to smarten up or he would be on dish duty after dinner.” She scoffed as she turned around for you to tie the lace back together. “I told her, wearing a suit won’t make him any smarter.“
You shook your head with a laugh. “If I could get away with wearing a hoodie tonight, I absolutely would too. It feels weird dressing up one day a year. I spent the whole morning here in sweatpants.”
“It’s tradition, and you look gorgeous.”
“I should for the effort I put in,” you giggled, offering your elbow as you opened the bedroom door. “Shall we?”
She looped her arm in yours with a nod as the music downstairs grew with each step. “Let’s do this.”
If you had to listen to another Christmas song you were going to scream, so you escaped the warmth of the Norris’ home and took a breath of wintery air on the balcony where it was less audible. Though there was a chill in the air the eggnog and brandy kept you from feeling the full brunt of the night and you could hardly believe there was snow forecast to fall.
The only light that reached you was what slipped through the joins of the curtains but it was enough to see the paddocks beyond the grassy lawn. This late in the year the horses that usually grazed the paddocks would be holding up in the stables, away from the morning frosts that occurred daily, but you could still hear their neighs in the distance.
“Still not a fan of Bublé?”
You smiled to the sky as a pair of cold hands settled on your waist and warm lips found the delicate spot behind your ear.
“If he hasn’t grown on me by now, I don’t think he ever will.” You turned to face Lando and linked your arms around his neck. “Merry Christmas, my love.”
“Merry Christmas, baby.” His body started to sway, taking you with him as he hummed the stupid song in your ear, laughing when you narrowed your eyes at him. “What? All I want for Christmas is you.”
Your gaze softened and you smiled again as you tucked your head into his chest and buried your hands in his jacket to try steal some warmth. “Are you cold, love?” he asked, looking back at the warm house where all the log fires were lit.
“No, I’m not ready to go back yet,” you admitted as you cradled his cheek in your hand and guided his attention back to you. “Just a few more minutes together.”
He nodded before giving you a soft kiss and pulling away to shrug his wool suit jacket off and drape it over your shoulders. “Can’t have my girl getting sick for Christmas.”
Tumblr media
One Year Earlier “I don’t buy it,” Flo muttered over her flute of champagne as she sat to your left at the dining table, waiting for dinner to be served.
“Buy what?” you asked as your attention was pulled away from Max on your right, and the pictures of the new simulator he had just finished setting up in his room.
“Them.” You followed her nod across the room to find Lando on the couch in front of the roaring log fire, his girlfriend sat on his lap as if there weren’t two other cushions available beside him. “There’s no chemistry.”
“Eh,” you shrugged as you grabbed your glass that Max had refilled for you, “since when do you need chemistry if you’re a model or whatever?”
“You almost sound jealous,” he teased quietly, wary of Flo on the other side.
“Am not,” you bit back a little too harshly, only making him chuckle more and take a sip of his beer before he said anything else.
“Dinner will be a little late, I’m afraid,” Cisca announced with a sigh, muttering about the gravy catastrophe. “Adam, honey, turn the music up for a bit.”
“If you aren’t hung up on him, then come have a dance with me,” Max dared as Oliver and his pregnant wife joined Flo’s aunt and uncle dancing in front of the hearth, beneath the twinkling fairy lights. He wiggled his fingers as he waited for you and with a sigh you placed your hand in his and rose from your place setting.
Flo grinned as you passed by, poking you in the ribs with a laugh and giving you the thumbs up - but Max was only a friend. He could only be a friend because the person you actually pined for was his best friend.
“I know,” he whispered in your ear as one hand rested on your waist and your feet followed his lead.
“Know what?” you asked innocently, but he had caught your eyes drifting to the couch as you circled your way around the room.
“I won’t say anything, I just thought you might want to talk to someone. God knows you can’t talk to Flo about it, she would smother him while he slept,” Max joked. “And I kind of like having my best friend.” His eyes looked at the couple before he sighed. “Most of the time at least.”
You weren’t the only one vying for his attention anymore since he got a girlfriend. “You’ve been drinking too much, Fewtrell. You’re seeing things with your beer goggles on, I have no interest in Lando.”
“Is that why he hasn’t stopped staring at you?” Your head snapped around but Lando’s attention was firmly on Luisa and the very deep kiss they were openly sharing. “Totally not interested in him, huh,” he chuckled as he tightened his hold on you when you tried to pull away. “I’m sorry, it sucks, wanting what you can’t have.”
“There are worse things,” you muttered under your breath but he heard and curled an eyebrow in question. “Wanting what you can’t have right in front of you.”
He had no response but a sad smile as the song changed and Michael Bublé’s Cold December Night crooned over the speakers.
“The twinkling of the lights, The sound of carols fill the household, Old saint Nick has taken flight, With a heart on board so please be careful, Each year I ask for many different things, But now I know what my heart wants you to bring.”
“I fucking hate Bublé,” you sniffed as you pulled away from Max’s arms. “I’m just going to get some fresh air.”
“It’s bloody snowing out there,” he objected as he followed you to the backdoor. “You’re going to be sick for Christmas.”
Tumblr media
The dinner bell rang out and you sighed as it shattered the bubble you had found yourself in and knew you would have to release Lando from your arms.
“Come to my room tonight,” you whispered against his lips before they shared one last kiss. ‘Your room’ was actually one of the guest rooms down the hall but you had spent so much time in it over the years that it was only ever referred to as yours now. It was so much yours that Cisca had even asked you for your opinion in the wallpaper when she renovated the house.
“Don’t have to tell me twice, baby,” he said with a smirk as he opened the backdoor for you. You reluctantly removed his jacket and missed the scent more than the warmth as you passed it back. Lando pulled it back on and dipped his head to steal one final kiss before stepping inside with a warning over his shoulder, “No dancing with Max this year.”
“It’s your turn to be jealous this year,” you said as you blew a kiss to him along the narrow corridor.
He paused and cast his arm out, planting his palm on the wall and blocking you from rejoining the party. “What makes you think I wasn’t jealous last year?”
“Maybe it was the tongue down Luisa’s throat, or the hand up her skirt?”
You tried to duck under his arm but he caught you around the waist and used his body to cage you against the wall. “I had to do something to distract myself,” he admitted lowly in your ear, hiding his face from your disbelieving eyes. “You were all I could think about, you and that sexy little dress.” You tilted your head back as you felt his lips on your neck as he continued his confession. “If I didn’t do something I would have gone crazy watching him hold you when I couldn’t.”
His kiss set your body on fire and you combed your fingers through his hair tugging the strands so you could capture his lips.
“What the fuck!”
Both of your heads snapped towards the outburst and your stomach dropped as you saw Flo standing at the end of the hall. Her arms were limp at her side, the blank look of shock bleeding into betrayal as her head started to shake before she turned away.
Your body reacted before your brain could, pushing Lando away as you chased after her despite his call to let her go. You couldn’t let that happen, she had always been a worrier and the longer she stewed on something the worse it got in her mind. You had to talk to her.
You raced up the stairs, apologising to Adam as you passed him in the hurry, the confusion of catching his daughter’s rush to escape clear on his face. Her door was shut and you tested the handle to find it was locked and your head thumped against the wood with defeat.
“Please, Flo, let me in,” you begged her. A quick no resounding from inside. Turning around, you took a seat on the floor and rested your back to the door. “I’m going to stay right here until you open the door.”
“You’re going to be there a very long time.”
You sat there in silence for a few minutes wondering where to begin, how to explain what happened, why, how long. Finally you decided on a simple apology. “I’m sorry, Flo. We didn’t intend to fall in love, didn’t intend on anything happening. I fought the feelings for years, because I knew what it meant to you.”
“Still didn’t stop you though, did it?” She spat, her voice closer than you expected. “I had one rule. One!”
Your make up was certainly ruined as tears spilled forth, eyeliner and mascara stealing down your cheeks. “I know.”
“They say they don’t have favourites but mum and dad have always put him first. They missed my events to go to his races,” she sobbed, a sense of déjà vu filling you as she retold the history you had consoled her through years ago. She had always felt second place to Lando. “I thought you would always be my best friend.”
Your gut wrenched as you realised what she was feeling. She thought you were choosing him over her - like there had to be an ultimatum. “I still am,” you promised, shaking the door handle again. “Please, unlock the door.” She made no move to turn the key.
“Do you remember when you got Summer and I thought you were going to forget all about me?” you asked, remembering the day the pony arrived at the house and Flo had been so excited she had run off to the stables without you. “You told me I was always going to be your best friend, from cradle to grave. She was your horse, and you could love us both, right?”
The door tugged open and you fell back, sprawled on the floor as she stood with her arms crossed. “Are you calling my brother a horse?”
“Depends, would it make you feel better?”
She rolled her eyes and offered a hand to pull you to your feet. “I don’t know yet, I’m too pissed off at you.”
“Fair enough.”
“Hey, you guys okay?” Lando asked as he jogged to the top of the stairs, his tie and jacket missing.
You screwed your eyes shut at the timing and pinched the bridge off your nose as you asked, “Can we just have a few minutes?”
He turned twice first to head back down the stairs before he changed his mind and went to his room. “You said I had changed,” he muttered to Flo as he stood in his doorway and held the door knob. “You said I looked happier than ever.”
“I’m going to vomit if you tell me she’s the reason.”
“Sorry.”
“For what? Stealing my best friend?”
You stepped into her line of vision and waved a hand behind your back hoping Lando would get the hint. “He hasn’t stolen me, Flo. Cradle to grave.” You held up your pinky and held your breath as she stared at the age old promise you had made. “I should have told you how I felt about him, but you can be really scary and I was a coward. It was still a shitty thing to do.”
“Really shitty.”
“I know.”
“I can’t believe it was you,” she said with a shake of her head. “I knew there had to be a girl. This is annoying, more than anything, because he’s not such a muppet anymore, but knowing it’s from you - I don’t know if that’s better or worse.”
“Surely being happy is what matters most, not the who or why.”
She fell silent and her eyes fell to the door that he had quietly shut. “What happens if he breaks your heart?”
You hoped it never came to that but you couldn’t see the future so you shrugged. “Then I will cry on my best friend’s shoulder like I always have.”
Her shoulders bounced once with a laugh before she caught herself and tried to appear nonchalant. “I suppose I would offer to key their car.”
“And I would say it isn’t worth it.” You reached for her hand and she let you hold it as you gave it a squeeze. “But…if he doesn’t then I might not just be your best friend, might be your sister in law too someday.”
“Too soon,” she said with a scrunch of her nose as she pulled her hand away and went to Lando’s door. “Hurt her and I’ll key your new car, noob.”
The door swung open and Lando leaned against the jamb. “You don’t have to worry, sis.”
“I love her more than you.”
Lando snorted, a sound so similar to Flo’s, and he shook his head. “It’s not a competition, you muppet.”
She appeared almost pleased, though also surprised as she nodded and stepped away, “good answer.”
“But,” Lando smirked and you sighed inwardly, “if it was I would win.”
Flo oddly didn’t respond as she started to make her way back to dinner, pausing only as she reached the stairs before looking back. “By the way, I’m dating Max.”
“What? No fucking way, I gonna kill him,” Lando growled as he took a step towards her before her head fell back with laughter.
“Of course I'm not, Lando, but now you know how it feels.”
Her laugh echoed down the hall as she descended the staircase and left the two of you alone. Facing Lando, you stared at him wondering if anything had changed but the moment of uncertainty was gone when he pulled you into his arms and kissed you without fear of being caught.
“I’m taking you to dinner tomorrow, it’s all I’ve wanted to do for so long,” he laughed as he pressed his forehead to yours and recovered from the almost blessing you had received from Flo. “We don’t have to hide anymore.”
“Tomorrow's Christmas,” you said with a smile.
“Shit, okay then, the next day. Hey!” He grinned as he pointed downstairs, his head bobbing along to the song that was playing again on the playlist. “Christmas came early for me,” he said as he dragged you to his bedroom and closed the door, silencing Bublé as he sang, ‘All I want for Christmas is you’.
“We are going to miss dinner,” you warned as he sat on his bed and pulled you onto his lap.
“There’s always plenty of leftovers, plus, what I want isn’t on the menu downstairs,” he teased as his hands brushed beneath your dress.
“Bob, what are you up to-oh!” Max covered his eyes as he busted into the room. “Bro, everyone is waiting for you two. Time and place, people.”
You stood up and pulled the dress back into place, sending Lando a look that said ‘I told you so’ before tapping Max on the shoulder as you passed him. “You can look now.”
“I think the damage is already done, the image is seared on my retina,” he said with a dramatic shake. “So you two finally…”
“Got caught,” Lando said with a chuckle, slipping his hand in yours as the three of you headed to the dining room. “No more hiding.”
Max grinned and clapped Lando on the shoulder. “About time!”
“Wait, you knew?”
“Uh…I have been in the middle of this situation for like five years. Of course I knew. I think I knew before the two of you knew.”
You frowned at the news and came to a stop halfway to the landing. “So last year?”
“Was my trying to get you two to see what was clearly right in front of you the whole bloody time. You’re welcome for that, you know. And I expect to be thanked as the best friend and wingman one can ask for in our next stream. Now can we please go and eat, I’m starving!”
Lando looked at you with a different look of hunger in his eyes as he kissed your hand. “Me too.”

jewel - @rosekillermicrofic - word count: 236 - NSFW
Barty hates work.
A necessary evil, something he inherited from his father, his office job makes enough money to keep himself and Evan both happy and financially stable. But he'd rather stab himself in the eye with a chopstick than have casual conversation with the forty-something conservative ladies he shares space with. Especially on days like today.
It's close to Valentine's Day and Brenda Something is going on and on about how Mr. Something bought her some 'simply stunning' earrings that Barty can see from a mile away are fake. Karen Whastername and Ellen Whoever are oooing and ahhing and Barty couldn't give less of a fuck.
But then Brenda turns to Barty as asks him in a simpering voice. "And what about you, dearie? What are you getting your girlfriend?"
Barty has made it clear on more than one occasion that he prefers men, but Brendan and Karen and Ellen seem to have turned a deaf ear. And because it's very much intentional the way they ignore him and his sexuality, insisting on either pretending Evan doesn't exist or calling him Barty's 'roommate,' he has no qualms with answering in a falsely-sweet voice. "I'm getting my boyfriend a butt plug, Brenda. Actually, the jewel on it matches those fake emeralds in your shit earrings."
And he grins, standing and walking away.
Perhaps he can go home now and give Evan his present a bit early.

Previous Chapter. / Next Chapter. | Masterlist.
Tumblr media
As soon as Captain Levi hauls himself upright on the saddle of his horse, he’s gone.
Like a bat out of hell, his horse takes off towards the direction of the old Survey Corps headquarters.
Dust and dirt from the hasty exit licks at the tip of your boots.
The rest of the Levi squad had only finished settling on their own horses, with you the last to remain on the forest floor.
“He seems eager to get back,” Petra states with a slow apprehension to her tone.
Oluo grunts in reply, and you know.
You can feel his eyes locked onto the back of your skull.
Asking—
What happened between the two of you?
Why do you remember the outcome of the last mission?
What aren’t you telling us?
The myriad of questions are not lost on you, because you ask them yourself.
After all, you were barely given a chance to explain.
To understand.
Even before the rest of Levi squad made it to the fall site, the tension between you and Levi was palpable.
The way Levi stared at you, held you, in the aftermath.
Trapped between the before times and what you’ve been reduced to before his very eyes —
“James, are you good?” Gunther asks, softer this time, but it's all white noise.
Figure out if you mean it.
If you really do remember — any of this.
Levi's voice is the only one registering in your mind.
If you think you know me, then say it with your whole damn chest and hold nothing back.
You do. You know him.
Captain Levi.
Child of the Underground.
Captain of the Special Operations Squad.
Though you know him as something else; something profound; something too devastating to lose.
The one who almost got away.
Before you can say a word, your body moves on autopilot: you shove your foot into a worn stirrup and jump up and onto your horse with the reins gripped in both hands.
Snapping them with newfound urgency, you leave the remaining members of your squad behind to bridge the gap between you and Levi.
Go.
Wind sweeps your emerald cloak like wings behind you as you ride, urging you horse faster, faster, faster—
And you inhale.
The more that you breathe, the more that you push yourself forward, your body feels less like a foreign entity.
Your fingers flex without a detached delay.
The leather against your palm feels right, like—
…like you’ve finally woken up on the right side of the bed again.
By the time you reach the headquarter courtyard, his midnight horse is already tied to a banister at the stable.
In a rushed dismount from your saddle, your shaking hands hurriedly tie the knot around the same banister and rush towards the open doors.
As you run inside your shoes switch from crunch to click, from dirt to concrete floor.
The sky, once swirling in uncertain grays, opens to a light rain.
An incoming storm echoes through cavernous hallways, turning grayed stone to black.
Everywhere you look, he isn’t there — the foyer, the rest areas, the abandoned offices —
"C'mon, c'mon..."
As you turn the corner towards the kitchen, your eager ears pick up the leisure pace of two sets of boots.
You move faster, hoping to see that familiar head of raven hair.
To your surprise, you find Hange and Moblit at the very end of the corridor chatting after a meal.
When they notice your arrival, Moblit gives a little half-smile of recognition while the Section Commander holds out their arms, eager to greet you.
“Hey, hey! She’s back from all the action!” Hange yelps with excitement. “Now tell me, how—”
“Where’s Levi?”
Your sharp question interrupts Hange’s cheerful greeting.
In this light, Hange appears so much clearer to you. Gone is the fuzzy confusion; their outline now just as sharp as their wit and wonder.
(Something like a found safe space, warm and comforting.)
“Levi?” they question. “Huh, I didn’t think he was back.”
So they don’t know yet.
He didn’t say anything.
But he's here, you know he made it back here—
Urgently, you step towards the two.
“I need to know where he is. It’s urgent.”
“Did something happen?” Moblit gently presses.
“I remember,” you state, as if that’ll explain anything. They blink in tandem. “I don’t know how, but it—”
Your hand rises to your mouth, covering it and giving yourself a moment to think.
Except the problem is that you need to say it — thinking, second guessing, slows this down.
Focus.
Your hand drops, and your voice says the first thing that comes to mind.
“Hange — you and I once drank Moblit so horrendously under the table that he was bedridden for two days.”
Hange’s boot squeaks against the floor in an echo as they stop dead in their tracks.
“And whenever we meet in the city, Moblit and I order dumplings from that one nice old woman just outside the hospital. I think — you get the most basic order and always make sure to bring something back for Hange.”
Moblit’s eyes shoot wide. “Whoa, that—”
You hold a hand out to placate Hange, who looks like they’re two seconds away from screeching with elation.
“I can’t explain to you know I know all of this, and I don’t have time to figure that out right now. It’s just sort of word-vomiting out of my damn mouth the longer I let myself talk — so I don’t want to stop talking, and I’ll figure out the details and the rest with the two of you later, but it—”
It could disappear at any minute.
You can’t breathe.
It’s so hard to breathe, but do your best to gulp an inhale anyway.
“Please, just… I need – to talk – to Levi.”
Before I forget again.
Before he thinks I’ve forgotten him all over again.
Both Hange and Moblit stare in a haze of surprise.
By the time you open your mouth to plead a third time, Hange holds up a hand.
Their expression darkens with a seriousness they so rarely possess.
“If he’s not by Erwin’s office or with us, then chances are he’s in his bedroom."
His bedroom.
Relief floods your system.
“Right,” you exhale, jolted by adrenaline. “Thanks, Hange.”
With that, you speed off in the opposite direction.
Up the stairwell.
Down the hallway.
Be here, be here, be here.
Fist raised, you lunge forward towards the wooden door—
Yet the door opens freely, and you’re trapped staring into the eyes of Levi Ackerman.
He blinks away his surprise to that evergreen mask of indifference — resignation?
There’s no edge to his shoulders. They’re sagged.
Lowering your fist, you’re met with silence.
(You’ve come to hate silence more than anything.)
So you speak first.
“Can we please—”
“Yeah.”
No pleas heard. No begging to be done.
“Yeah, might as well.”
Levi simply agrees.
The hand gripping the edge pulls the door towards him, conceding with an invitation inside.
Terrified doesn’t even begin to cover it — you push your way through, only to pause when your mind begins to recognize just how familiar this room feels with the light dance of rain outside an open window.
Everything is so neat. Clean.
(And in the back of your mind, a voice says it’s exactly how you left it.)
The door locks shut, and the rest of the world ceases to exist.
Levi casually walks past you, pulling a chair from his desk and flipping it to face his bed.
He sinks down onto it, knees spread apart while his arm rests casually over the back.
“Start, then.”
His voice is guarded, shortened, as his eyes watch you from under wet, black fringe.
You stare, twisting your fingers around and against each other to self-soothe your nerves.
Your nostrils expand as you muster the courage to speak.
Yet when you do, your voice is smaller.
(So much could go wrong in one single moment.)
“I’ll start, just…"
"Just what?"
"Don’t shut me out.”
His eyes narrow. “I told you I wouldn’t.”
“I know, but this is different,” you argue weakly, wetting your lips.
“Try me,” he flatly goads. “I told you from the beginning—”
“—that you weren’t going to hand us our memories, fuck, I know already,” you bite to chomp off the rest of his statement, tired of hearing him push further distance between you. “Let me talk this bullshit out at you, alright? Not with you — but at you. Because the more I talk, the more things come back — it’s like my fucking unconsciousness is working faster than the rest of my body.”
His jaw clenches, but he says nothing.
When a few moments have passed, you take several steps forward to meet him — but turn to sit on the edge of his bed.
(Like you know belong there.)
He stops moving entirely, brow knit as he watches you descend.
Start, then.
“Before everyone swooped in, I told you that I thought I knew who I was. But… the more time goes by, it isn't a maybe anymore."
Your eyes remain on your hands, noting the calluses and age-old lines of scars across your fingers and palms.
"And the longer time goes on, the more I talk, it becomes so much clearer."
Remember.
“I never knew my birth mother,” you continue, “not really. As far I know, she died when I was small. A lot of the details are still fuzzy, but some other sick bastard took her place. I think it's so hazy because there’s not much to remember about her. Mother... cared only about winning money."
Lost in your own thoughts, you drop your chin to your chest and exhale.
"I might have had siblings. None of them actually looked like me. They were just... stuck, too. And so many of them died."
All nameless faces.
All battle fodder for the almighty coin.
“I knew that the only way to live was to fight, so I fought. Hard. Every damn day until I couldn't stand on my two feet sometimes. That’s how we met.”
When you lift your eyes to stare him, he doesn’t react.
His nostrils flare in a twitch, but Levi remains in control of himself.
“My mother pit us against each other for money,” you continue softly. “That’s why I kept seeing this small, skinny boy in my dreams at a pub. For weeks, over and over, it was you. I gave you food — I wanted a friend. And…”
You trail off, chewing on your next words very carefully.
“And you gave me that. A friend. A chance to join your gang and live a life that was mine.”
Absently, your hand raises from your lap to your neck.
In the hopes of quelling your budding anxiety, your fingertip runs along the delicate silver chain at your sternum.
An old habit that won’t die, even in a state of memory loss.
Yet you catch him, right as it happens:
Levi’s hardened eyes shamelessly drop from yours — to stare at your fingers.
Your fingertip dips and circles the gray gem, mindful of its smooth texture.
Moments pass.
His eyes do not lift.
A familiar warmth spreads through your chest.
“My necklace.”
Then his eyes raise, as if suddenly aware of where he’s staring.
“You gave it to me, didn’t you?”
You see him in your mind’s eye: a younger version of Levi sitting there, embarrassed to be offering such a delicate, sentimental gift to another person.
His gangly, teenage self overlaps the exhausted, battle-worn Levi across from you in his chair.
Both fighting.
Both surviving.
You feel so small as you try to remember the finite detail. Hitting a wall the longer the silence stretches, you're unable to pinpoint the exact memory.
Your nose scrunches in frustration, searching for that train of thought like a life line.
“It was for my fifteenth— No, maybe my seventeenth—”
“Eighteenth.”
His voice is barely a murmur.
Levi’s eyes do not leave your face.
“It was your eighteenth birthday.”
He manages to capture the memory eluding you before it can float away and dissolve to the wind.
A smile loaded with relief passes your lips.
It’s only a small nudge in the right direction, but it’s all you need for the memory to blossom like a flower on the surface in Spring.
The image of yesteryear blooms—
White, billowing sleeves rolled to his elbows.
A cinched vest kept his clothes from flying off his small frame.
“With a lot of alcohol.”
“Yeah.”
“And a lot of extra cleaning the next morning.”
He exhales, slow and drawn out. “Something like that.”
You inhale sharply through your nose, emotions overwhelming you.
“Ever since Hange gave the necklace back to me, I can’t help but touch it any time I feel stressed or panicked. It’s like all of those bad feelings, they… go away. Disappear like the way titans do.”
Worries, gone like ash.
A ghostlike sensation runs against your lips, forcing you to reach and run along their seam.
Even if it's far away, you see it: a tilted head; black fringe.
Even now, you feel it: his lips so close; eyes wandering; the loss of reason.
“And you… you kissed me that day.”
Your first.
Both of your firsts.
When you smile, you notice then: his knuckles against the back of the chair turn translucent white.
“Wrong,” the captain tightly states.
Wait.
You freeze, fear settling in your belly.
“What?” you question. “But... but you did.”
He’s gripping the wooden backing so hard it could snap.
“I didn’t,” he forces out. “...you kissed me.”
Oh.
Oh.
He’s not shutting you out.
Elation sweeps over your mind like a soothing balm as memories of pawing hands and inexperienced desire enters the forefront—
Finally clear as day.
Do you regret it, his voice whispers in the abyss.
“I never regretted that,” you reassure him, like you can finally answer him with absolute honesty. “Though technically you leaned in, and I ran with it.”
He huffs in disbelief. "Yeah?"
You smile with certainty. "Yeah."
Kisses between you two were just the tip of the iceberg. You know that now.
You’ve seen it, felt it, tasted it—
In this very bedroom.
After a pause, the captain’s voice comes out strained.
“Of all the damn memories, that’s the one that stands out?”
You can’t help but huff with exhausted amusement.
“It isn’t the only one," you reply. "There are a million fragments I’m still piecing together and not everything makes sense, but there are some things that are just so vivid to me now. like…”
“Like?”
“Like our friends.”
Emotion flickers across his expression as he sits up further.
It’s like he’s been waiting to hear the names of your deceased comrades on your lips.
“You remember—”
“Isabel,” you whisper. “And Furlan. Yeah, it’s… bits and pieces just like everything else, but we grew up with them. I remember how we'd all spend hours zipping around that damn stolen ODM gear like we owned the joint. Somehow four kids managed to make an entire home in the Underground. And I wasn’t — I couldn’t be there when they—”
Profound sadness hits you like a ton of bricks, clipping your words.
I couldn't be there when they died.
The picture isn't complete, but you remember the sinking feeling in your belly when he had told you. So much time had gone by — you can vaguely pick out Isabel's wild red hair and recall thinking maybe the sun looked just like that. Furlan's infectious, warm laugh echoes in the back of your mind.
And you nearly joined them as a memory.
(No wonder why Levi was so angry with you at the start of it all.)
The rain continues to tap against the stone walls outside as another stretch of silence befalls the room.
One of Levi’s hands reaches for his face and runs down the length of it, tugging the skin as he goes.
His eyes drop to the floor, his dampened fringe shielding them from view.
“Un-fucking-believable…”
Your brow furrows.
“What?”
“This.”
That same hand sweeps a frustrated gesture between the two of you.
“This shouldn’t be possible,” he grunts. “You hit your goddamn head almost a year ago and — and you nearly did the same fucking thing again today, and you’re telling me that’s all it took to suddenly wake you up?”
The harshness of his words cause you to rear your head back.
Hange nearly ran to you with open arms when you told them you remembered.
You had thought perhaps Levi would do the same once you had proven your mind to him.
Yet he’s reluctant.
Angry.
“That isn’t what I’m saying,” you retort, narrowing your gaze. “I tried telling you months ago that my memories were fragmented, but you didn’t want to hear it. What, were you hoping I wouldn’t remember?”
Instantly his eyes are back on you. “I didn’t say that.”
“It sure feels like that, Levi,” you snip. “Was it because of our fight?”
The whites of his eyes explode.
“Our what?”
“Before we went on the last expedition,” you clarify under your breath. “When you tried sidelining me with counsel to Erwin. I asked you why you didn’t trust me to fight at your side, but it wasn’t that you didn’t trust me.”
What is the excuse you always, always, use?
It was such a vicious question in the heat of the moment.
Levi doesn’t hide his surprise this time.
Although he doesn’t answer your question, you can see it:
The same turmoil that pushed him to the brink of shouting, coming back to haunt him.
Because if I lose you this time, then that’s it!
The rattle of the storm increases in volume right outside his open window, billowing the sheer curtains from the wall.
You promised.
You promised him so many things that day.
Nothing will happen to me.
I’m not going anywhere.
“I won’t die on you, right?” you say to yourself, as if in a daze — trapped between the present and the past. “Because if I did, you’d drag my ass from Hell yourself.”
His face twists, contorts in pain, only for a second.
He catches himself at the precipice before he can truly react, swallowing it down—
And then it hits.
You understand what he isn't saying.
“You haven't stopped blaming yourself,” you realize out loud in a bewildered whisper. “Even after saving my ass a second time, you're still holding onto that guilt like it was a choice you had made instead of me.”
You stand abruptly from the bed and cross the room towards him.
Levi immediately jumps out of his chair like a cat that’s been dunked in water, terrified you’ll push him back under.
No matter how compelled you are to be near him, he repels.
“It wasn't your fault,” you urge, softer this time. “Look at me. Levi — it wasn't your fault.”
His bluish-gray eyes narrow in defense. “Don’t start this—”
“When I fell—”
“No.”
“Levi,” you chastise. “You said we could talk.”
“I did,” he hotly retorts. “Not about that day.”
The air in the room shifts.
“Anything but that day,” he repeats, softer this time. “Please. I just —”
Struggling with what he wishes to say, his chin drops to his chest.
“...despite all my best efforts, despite whatever plans I put in place, I watched you fall in the same shitty forest not once, but twice, like it's a sick fucking dream I get to repeat over and over until I learn.”
All of your facial muscles smooth with sadness. “Except there wasn't anything to learn because you did nothing wrong. Levi, you caught me.”
“But not the first time,” he says simply. “Not when it mattered.”
The way he speaks about himself…
Humanity’s Strongest, reduced to one perceived failure, as if he could rewrite history and control your mistakes.
Timidly you slide a boot forward, testing his resolve.
Levi doesn’t move. His head remains bowed.
“You have spent months punishing yourself for something that I chose to do,” you urge under your breath in a damn-near plea. “What is it that Erwin tells us to do? Dedicate our hearts?"
"Don't use that shit against me, James," he warns.
Raising your hands in surrender, you shake your head wildly. "I'm not. Believe me, I'm not, but you need to understand it was my choice. I wanted to save the others. I wanted my life to matter."
You see his jaw clench like he's forcing himself to hold back what he wants to say.
You step another boot forward.
"Six months ago when I first saw you in that hospital wing in Trost, when you tried to rile me up, it was—”
“An error in judgment," he interrupts.
“Exactly what I needed,” you finish over him.
His head lifts.
You meet, eye to eye.
“I couldn’t understand why I was so transfixed by you,” you continue softly with the utmost sincerity, hoping he will hear you out. “You walked out of that room and all I wanted was to know you. To understand you, like you held this invisible key this entire time that could unlock whatever the hell it was that I was missing. But all you ever did was pull away from me, hide from me, trying to convince me you were some villain in my life—”
“James.”
Abruptly Levi steps forward as if ready to walk straight through you—
—like you’re nothing but a ghost’s apparition.
Instead he is met with living, breathing warmth.
Your eyes can’t leave when his breath tickles the skin of your face.
Levi stares back, entranced by the color of your eyes.
Infected, plagued, by the reality that stands before you both.
One false move, and it’ll be a repeat of the conversation in the tree tops that made him retreat.
“I have tried to keep you safe almost my entire life," Levi murmurs, and you can practically feel the vibrations of his voice rocking through your body.
“And you did.”
“I didn’t.”
“Levi, you—”
“I pushed you into danger—”
“Pushed?”
“—and I am sorry—”
Your hand shoots out, turning his cheek to look you dead in the eye.
“Stop it.”
Levi freezes, looking so much more uncertain now that he did ten minutes ago.
“Stop," you repeat with exasperation. “You're not listening to me. I'm here. I'm right here.”
He swallows to coat his throat, motion thick. His neck bobs.
"I don't know how else to convince you it isn't a fluke," you continue, voice cracking. "You won't let yourself see me. You won't let yourself believe I'm not dead. Levi—"
And just when you think you’ve lost him—
He turns towards the warmth.
His cheek nuzzles your open palm, eyes wearily slipping shut, as if helpless to do so.
You’re holding the first face you remember and the last face you’ve seen —
The partner you left in the forest so long ago.
The man that wants more than he’ll ever allow himself to take.
Levi's confession is barely audible:
“...I don't want it to be too good to be true again."
The floorboard creaks as his foot shifts towards you, angling himself towards you.
He inhales slowly through his nose, relishing in a private thought, before shaking his head. His hair nearly tickles your forehead.
When he doesn't open his eyes, you decide to take matters into your own hands.
If he won't see you—
Slowly, cautiously, you reach for his hand until yours curls over it.
At first his fingers flinch in your grasp, his blue-gray eyes snapping wide to watch.
Then eventually they relax, surrendering.
Higher and higher, you skim it past your ribcage and pull it up to your left breast.
His arm tenses, eyes shooting wide.
You remain relaxed. Focused.
“What is it you feel?”
“I don’t under—”
“Just… pause, for once in your life, and tell me what it is you feel.”
You press his palm harder against your chest, your heart hammering beneath your skin.
“Please.”
Albeit apprehensive, Levi doesn’t move away.
His eyes dart to your lips, your sternum, until they lock onto your joined hands.
“You.”
Strained — he chokes on his response.
“I feel… you.”
As if pulled by gravity Levi steadily leans closer, brushing your nose with his.
His jaw clenches, the muscles taut in his mouth, before his palm flattens of his volition against your chest.
Your eyes flutter, relishing in his proximity.
You turn to him, seeking out his body heat.
For the first time in months, you feel it with such certainty.
Familiarity.
His free hand rises to your cheek, cupping the side of your face.
You suck in a sharp breath between parted lips, and he makes a small noise like he’s agonized over being apart from you.
“Every time that I’ve been given the choice, I always choose you,” you confess softly, a mere whisper. “I run right towards you even when I don’t know you. You are the only thing that has ever made sense to me in this world.”
There — you memorize the slide of his calloused palm, running gently along the height of your cheekbone.
Slow, as if mesmerized by your skin’s softness.
Shakily, you continue and choose the point of no return.
“Tell me you don't want me anymore, and I’ll stop running to you. If I have somehow misjudged you and what you might still feel—”
“Say it.”
Levi’s voice engulfs you — the heavy baritone, barely touching your lips.
His expression darkens like he wrestles with two separate trains of thought.
Conflict etched in his brow, he swallows once more and speaks with a tenderness you only remember in dreams.
“Say you remember me.”
After all this time, you've waited for the puzzle to connect.
The pieces that were once scattered now sew themselves together; anew.
He asks without asking.
You answer without uncertainty.
“I remember you.”
As if mesmerized by the curves of your body, Levi’s hand glides from your chest up your throat—
Until his fingers cradle the back of your head.
His other hand remains on the side of your face, holding you as though you could turn into water at any moment.
"Say it again."
You don't hesitate to obey his command.
"I remember you."
To make your point, you turn your chin into his hand — eyes locked — to press a gentle kiss to his palm.
He nearly hisses from the physical contact.
"Again."
Levi's breath slides into your mouth like a phantom kiss of his own.
(Touch starved after so many months apart.)
“I remember you, Levi Ackerman. I remember you, I remember you, I remember—”
You stop talking when he leans in, lips barely brushing yours.
Your breath halts.
His is ragged. Soft.
Then he speaks, as if to pray after a long night of war:
“Dirty trick."
That’s all it takes.
Levi reaches out whip-fast, using the palm against your skull to pull you into a searing, life-altering, mind-numbing kiss.
You go pliant against him, melting like candle wax, willing to take anything he’ll give.
Lips press and pull, his breath hot on your tongue.
His hands search you as if he doesn't know where to touch first — your face, your neck, your shoulder — until he decides to loop his forearm at the small of your back to dip and lift you without ever breaking the kiss.
You jump until your knees bracket his hips, and he pulls you flush to his body.
Levi hastily kicks the chair out of his way to carry you directly to his bed.
And after all this time, you feel it — know it — remember it.
The absence dissipates.
The world finally starts to turn.
You have found your way home.
