morally grey = more human and realistic = nuanced

hey! they don't even use morally grey properly... they're just looking for another "relatable fave" that is neither too good nor too bad like them (wow), and call them all these terms, lol.

some of you think ‘nuanced’ only means ‘morally grey’ and I’m here to tell you that actually straight up good characters can still be nuanced and unapologetically evil characters can still be nuanced. the character doesn’t have to be an anti hero or morally dubious to have depth. they don’t even have to feel sorry about their crimes to have depth.

Si hay algo que aprendí después de estar en el fandom de Free! es a nunca más padecerla. Por eso siempre va a quedar como mi peor experiencia en cuanto a un fandom... porque yo NO vuelvo a caer en esa, lol.

Pero, bueh... por un lado, está bueno también experimentar como todo en la vida, ¿no? Pero a mí me basta con una sola vez. No sirvo para repetir y seguir ese patrón. Antes de shippear harurin, estaba tranquila con Ranma y Akane (que obvio tampoco es que nunca me crucé con nadie, al contrario, pelotudos no faltan y los había un montón... pero al final, llore quién llore, Ranma es el protagonista y Akane la única por la que tiene sentimientos románticos) y ahora estoy tranquila con los ranwans (de nuevo, tampoco es que no discuto cuando veo algo que no me cuadra, pero aplica lo mismo: nadie les puede quitar lo que son y tienen, por mucho que se enojen y pataleen; aunque en este caso, ya venga por otro lado la queja).

Y es justamente a todo esto a lo que me refiero con "too many metas and discourse for a canon couple" en mi respuesta a eso último que respondí que igual voy a borrar: Y es que realmente ciertos cuestionamientos pierden sentido y poder cuando tenés a tu favor una confirmación 100% canon.

Es así. A menos que en serio te guste andar renegando al pedo. Y no hay caso... yo soy más del palo del canon y esa cosa mutua en mis OTPs que no dejan mucho lugar a dudas y por eso jodo tanto con eso (bah, igual eso super mutuo lo tienen hasta los harurins; pasa que al no haber nada confirmado románticamente, da luz verde para que cierta gente haya podido romper las bolas con sus teorías -por más infundadas que sean-... pero sí que es fundamental el interés mutuo y fuerte desde prácticamente un comienzo y no quede nomás como algo rejuntado al final para algunas personas... porque después tenés el ejemplo de las parejas canon que al no tener eso, aún se las cuestiona y a mí sí me daría algo tener que andar peleándole a una chengxian y que hable de lo que no es canon como canon 🤌🤌🤌, ¿mentendés? Al menos yo, estoy vieja para esos trotes).

Right.

The point of fanfic, even if it's an AU, is to stick with the essence of what you love and enjoy so much about a character and/or a ship.

If I wanted to read about literally just SOME guy (one that isn't """mine""" anymore and is barely recognizable) living in a different world and having a whole different dynamic with the one I ship him, I'd go for a book.

I believe that fics that could easily pass as an original are badfic by fanfiction authors that didn't get to understand the character in question, and how they would act and behave given other circumstances (the worst ones are when they're turned into an empty "vessel" for these authors to project onto them; so of course they're unrecognizable when I'm not reading about my faves anymore but about "you").

And I know that OOC is a thing... but I always say that there are OOCs and OOCs. Still, it's true that you're free to write the most OOC shit if you want, but- sorry. You missed the point of fanfic if that's the case... and I just don't get what's exactly what you love about the fandom you're writing for, then; and why you just don't write an original story instead.

in general i would say that “it’s not fun if they’re totally unrecognisable” is my fandom thesis. like the point of fanfic etc is putting your favourite little guys in situations. where’s the appeal if they’ve been through so many fanon spin cycles that they’re barely even your guys anymore

People have written fanfics with more sense and emotions compared to the movie. The vampire diaries new season is a sacrilege 🙃... What are they gonna do next, another Supernatural season?

Totally agree on everything you said. Tbh I think Scott was a fun protagonist in the first season, I LOVED the fact that he was just a dumb teenager with only Allison on his mind, so much so that he didn't even realize he was screwing everyone over with his obsession for her. It was realistic, and one of the reasons why season 1 is my fave season (weird I know, but idk, this season makes me emotional).

Then there's Liam, and at the beginning I didn't like him, because he didn't really have a personality, but then around season 5 he started becoming so funny and his interactions with Theo were pure gold. I just didn't like Mason (it felt like he was there to fill the quota of black AND gay characters, but he was just so annoying, and his bf Corey too) and Hayden (let's not even talk about her, what was she even doing here when there was THEO). I feel like their attempt at making Liam the new Scott with Hayden being the new Allison, Mason the new Stiles, Corey the new Lydia and Theo the new Derek was a big failure, and Liam should have been on his own (or Mason could also have been there cause it felt good to see some diversity, but like he should've been way more flamboyant if that makes sense, cause in the show he just felt flat lol). So, Liam had a LOT of potential, especially with Theo and the Enemies to Lovers arc, and it was wasted stupidly. He deserved so much more space in the Movie like ughhh, he barely even talked! I don't even remember if he talked at all!! Plus I was SO looking forward to meeting Hikari, the kitsune, and SHE DIDN'T SAY A SINGLE WORD. She was just there to be Liam's girlfriend and replace Kira to save Scott with fox fire!! It makes me so angry

Also one character who could've been the protagonist in the Movie: Eli, Derek's son. You haven't seen the movie so idk if you'll agree with me but he's actually quite a cool character, like I genuinely appreciated him. He had some Stiles vibes and even dressed like him, which is hilarious considering Derek's relationship with Stiles, and he had Scott's 'pure of heart, dumb of ass' energy from season 1 which was pure gold. This movie could have been a next generation thing, and it would have been probably incredible and would have allowed to keep Teen Wolf's spirit intact, and like Scott, Derek, Malia, Lydia etc could've been the side characters who try to guide their teens through life etc, but they chose to do that shit instead.

Literally any fanfiction is better than what they did.

About TVD: bruh, what even was season 8 lol. Damon just becoming a bad boy again and again and again because the fangirls like it is just plain ridiculous at some point. Like bro. Also how Enzo had so much potential and they chose to make him Bonnie's love interest and nothing else. I mean don't get me wrong I ship them, I'm glad they were together, but that's literally all he was and it pisses me off because the actor who plays him is way too talented to be reduced to just this position. And don't get me started on Alaric/Caroline (i'm literally gonna barf) and their twin daughters like wtf was that lmaoooo

This show should have stopped earlier, and Teen Wolf should never have had a movie if they were gonna do THAT. It's disrespectful to the fans, to the actors, to the nostalgia. It's gonna take me so much time to be able to forget and not see this dumpster fire everytime I watch TW season 1. They ruined it for me.

About Supernatural, I have only seen seasons 1 and 2 very long ago and I just remember I stopped because it felt repetitive lol. So Idk how it held for 15 seasons when TVD season 8 already felt recycled lol

I always say that Meatbun fed my very monoshipper heart and that romance written by these Chinese authors are probably The Monoshipper Dream. I don't know if it's cultural, and I haven't read enough as to state that it's most of them... but, afaik, the Chinese shippers seem proner to monoship? 🤔

Which leads me to Korean creators and how they, on the other hand, have a thing for love triangles. And this is definitely well-known by anyone who's been watching kdrama for the last 15 years (even if not constantly).

Then, of course, there's Korean BL where you can also notice their need to include love triangles... now, just add a lot of smut and you have the basis for most BL manhwas. The truth is that, while I feel like watching some kdrama from time to time, manhwas aren't my cup of tea. I had my fair share of Korean BL to know that it's not really my thing (there are some exceptions, tho... so I did love a couple of them).

All that said, I already talked about this on here in a way or another but I just don't get why people tend to look down on romance as a genre so much? What's wrong with wanting to read something mainly, or even only, for its romance? What's wrong with getting invested in the protagonists and not minding so much the other characters? When I feel like reading or watching romance, I look for romance.

I'm like constantly wondering why shippers do this and then, they decide to watch some show of any other genre just to ship what's non-canon, make all of that story about their ship and read fanfiction about them and and--do you get my point? Again, I talked about all this here and there, and this behavior keeps confusing me...

But I digress. Sorry. What I'm trying to say is that: These Chinese authors that write novels that feel almost self-indulgent (and that's why there's a lot of people joking about how it feels like reading a fanfiction) are a bless for us, monoshippers that WANT to read a romance for its romance and focus on the protagonists and their love story (as cheesy as it sounds, idc; I won't hide this fact). I mean, I fell for Meatbun the moment she said "Do not board the wrong ship" and that's why I even made of it my tumblr title, lol.

On a side note: This is also why I don't mind certain "spoilers" at all.

Currently reading a Korean webnovel instead of Chinese ones and this is making me conceptualize something, let’s see if I can put it in words…

My musings started with realizing that I’ve become very used to this cnovels thing where the main pairing is literally stated in the summary. Not the case for the k-novel I’m reading, and therefore I’m experiencing Pain and Suffering, — torn between my every instinct screaming that the author is setting up the OT3 endgame, and trying to lower my expectations to avoid disappointment. (And the novel is ongoing so I can’t even get spoilers for the ending :) girl help.)

As you may’ve guessed, I found myself strongly preferring the Chinese variant; but as to why exactly it was so important for my enjoyment to know the main couple… it took me a bit to figure out.

I mean, it’s not like I’m reading exclusively for romance, okay? Fannish activity-wise, sure, I tend to get fixated on ships (though even then, not all the time), but when it comes to reading (or any media intake, really), it’s not necessarily what I’m most interested in. Among my beloved titles, there are many where there’s no canon or fanon couple I'm attached to — and more than a few where there’s a canon couple that I neither love nor hate, just accept. So why did I get so attached to the concept of being, essentially, spoiled the endgame couple beforehand?

The key word that made it click was: promise. After all, it’s not like knowing the names of the characters that get together tells me anything about if they will be interesting or boring together, if they will be good for each other or make me scream “break up!” a million times. But it is a solid promise that these two people ARE gonna be a couple. 

And thinking about the word promise reminded me of discussions on plot twists that I’ve seen on here, about what makes a good plot twist and what makes a bad one — specifically, the phrase “narrative promise” that someone came up with. Basically, narrative promise is in the set up and the build up. If the plot twist betrays the narrative promise, it will not work, and it will be hated by the audience, who’ll feel like their emotional investment into the story was mocked.

The thing about the narrative promise, and why this term stuck with me, is that it’s actually applicable more broadly than just for shock-factor plot twists. For example: what is queerbaiting, if not betraying the narrative promise that the two characters are gonna be together? The fans see the narrative promise — the set up and the build up that would be unequivocally romantic for a het couple — and expect it to be fulfilled; only to be called delusional by the very creators that gave them this expectation. 

And this brings me to the next point: the catch of the “narrative promise” is that it’s never a guarantee. You can be completely sure the author is setting up X, only for them to turn around and do something completely different. (Possibly while calling you a little bitch for having the stupidity to invest your feelings into their creation, too.) After a while, a fan learns to manage their expectations. To not bet too much on anything, even if it feels like there’s no other way it can go. To wait until the end of the season or the last chapter before allowing themselves to get attached; to hold back on deciding whether something is good or not, lest they hype up something they will want to bury and forget later.

And this is where we circle back to c-novels, and to spoiling the main couple in the summary. Except I hesitate to call it “spoiling” because, as discussed, it actually heightens my enjoyment. For a simple reason: this practice takes the narrative promise from its nebulous, uncertain status to something concrete and real. Only for this one aspect and with the minimal-est amount of information possible, but still. That’s one thing I don’t have to guess about or doubt myself on (am I seeing things? is there a heterosexual explanation another way to read this? will the author simply kill off one of the characters before the end so that they don’t have to decide whether to make them explicitly queer?), and one thing I can count on (whatever else happens in the plot, I’ll still have this). It’s easy to invest emotionally into those characters and their relationship, when you have an assurance of their happy ending.

Ofc, I’m not saying that I don’t invest emotionally into relationships or characters other than the main CP — just that it is easier. And I would even say having this one(1) hard promise makes it easier to invest into other elements of the work, too, as it makes for a sort of safety net even if something else is disappointing or painful. 

Like, say you are invested in one couple with great chemistry and one side character. In case of a pre-stated ship, even if the side character dies, at least you still have the canon couple. So it’s not like all of your emotional connection to the book is lost, and you can probably bear with the loss of that character by writing everybody lives AU or something. But if the side character dies AND the couple you were invested in gets broken up or killed off or straight-married with other ppl… then doesn’t that make the entire thing into one massive disappointment? to the point that you might even regret picking up the book that made you care only to slap you in the face?.. 

So yeah, having even just one ship guaranteed is very comforting. And then I thought, well, doesn’t this apply to another type of fiction that I’m very familiar with?

Fanfiction?

Which, since very early on, has adopted the practice of putting the endgame ship in the header of the fic. And which, probably not coincidentally, is often a response to a broken (or at the very least not brought to its logical conclusion) narrative promise. And which always felt uniquely easy to read for me… 

See, prior to getting on this little thought train, I always assumed the ease was due to pre-existing familiarity with canon. You know, not having to learn the entire new setting, already having attachment to the characters… But now that I’ve connected these dots, I thought about times I read fics for fandoms I wasn’t familiar with, and originals formatted as fics — and really, wasn’t it always about the narrative promise made solid? 

Esp with how fics make it even broader than cnovels, by having extensive tags and ratings and such. Getting into a fic, you have a pretty clear idea of what may or may not happen in the story, even if you don’t know what exactly will happen or how. And a fic can fail to live up to the premise set up by ship/rating/tags — but not completely turn its back on it. 

(Well, normally. But in those exceptional cases where tags are misleading, at least you have something to point to when saying, “this is not what I was promised”. The ficwriter can hardly claim they don't understand why you expected [ship] to happen when they personally tagged their work as containing that ship — unlike the traditional media creators, who can always play the "you were totally misunderstanding my intentions the entire time" card.)

And having a solid promise like this, it turns out, takes lotsa pressure off starting a New Unfamiliar thing. I do, in fact, trust like that! So it’s no wonder that there were periods in my life when I would only consume fanfiction, because it was so much easier than extending trust to new titles. And it’s no wonder that what brought me back to being an avid reader were Chinese webnovels that use a practice very similar to what we have in fandoms.

I guess I understand myself better now! Still wish I knew if that k-novel's author is /j or /srs about the ot3 though.

This young woman is Sarah Price, and her son's name is Eli. Sarah is a self-proclaimed Easton fangirl, and will do everything and anything in her power to get Eli accepted into the elite school. Audrey and Sarah officially meet the following day at the scheduled tour that Sarah was able to schedule at the last minute. Attending without her husband, Adam, Sarah meets Audrey officially in the bathroom.

Audrey, knowing now that she may have made a mistake in accepting Sarah's application, decides to put things away. As for Sarah, she begins appearing in Audrey's life in unexpected ways such as sending her a gift of nesting dolls directly to her home as a thank you for accepting her application; paying for hers and her colleagues nail appointments and even texting her personal cell phone.

But, what Audrey least expects is to find her inside of her home late one night after she went spying on her outside of her home.

But what neither of the two girls are aware of is that Luke has been orchestrating this meeting. Luke, who doesn't believe in monogamy, has decided to request that Sarah join their marriage in a sexual way. Despite her own reservations, Audrey agrees and so begins their furtive relationship. The three of them meet in the late hours of the weekends after Luke and Audrey's son goes to sleep, and partake in sexual fantasies that none of them could have ever imagined.

But, after Sarah receives an email from Easton informing her that Eli won't be accepted for further interviews to attend the school, Sarah becomes distraught. Luke believes there is something that Audrey can do, but Sarah is so upset that she runs off leaving their condo and heading home. Sarah, worried about her, decides to follow her.

And what she is met with is the devastating truth: Eli, Sarah and Adam's young son, died the year before due to a severe peanut allergy. He had been given permission to attend a playdate with a friend of hers, Lauren, and despite taking the proper precautions to ensure that he would not come into contact with any sort of nut, Lauren ultimately left the two children in the care of an au pair, who fed him a muffin that mistakenly had nuts in it, and was unable to locate his epipen in order to counteract the reaction.

Unfortunately, Sarah and Adam lost their son that day, and despite having no other children, Sarah decided to go forth with the application process, knowing full well that Eli would never be able to attend.

For a week, Sarah hides out from Luke and Audrey, but decides to attend a gala for the school, at a hefty price per plate. When she does, Luke and Audrey both are sympathetic to what happened to her, and despite everything, want to continue their elicit love affair. But, after that particular tryst, Sarah ultimately finds Luke watching a video of Audrey with another woman, who turns out tob e Luke's first wife, Piper.

Piper had been the former admissions director at Easton, and Audrey worked underneath her. The three of them entered into the same sort of arrangement, but unfortunately, Piper suffered a heart attack due to an undetected heart defect after a particularly crazy sex session.

Luke is giving Sarah the impression that Audrey had somehow been involved in Piper's death and has been covering for her all of this time, and requests to meet her in the atrium at Easton to discuss it. But, Luke has also told Audrey to meet him there. Knowing now that their relationship can never continue, and deciding to leave without the truth but promising to remain silent on what has occurred between the three of them, and the three of them before, she leaves.

But, before she is able to exit the building, she is attacked by none other than Luke. Luke says that the heart attack was the truth, and Audrey truly had nothing to do with it. But, that he could have called for help but instead decided to hold off on doing so, and ultimately ended her life. Audrey wanted to tell the truth but Luke was able to talk her out of it, and in the end, the two of them decided to get married and blame their shared grief.

Luke says that he has now murdered Adam, and is going to pass this off as Sarah being unhinged, and she would take the fall for everything. But, between Audrey and Sarah, they are able to subdue and eventually end Luke's life.

In the end, Sarah and Audrey don't continue their elicit love affair with each other, but the two of them remain close in their shared trauma. Hazel and Audrey rekindle their mother and daughter relationship through therapy and are doing well, and Audrey's best friend Chippie decides to take in Sarah while she was recovering. But, now Sarah has decided to go ahead and sell the home she shared with her husband son who are both gone now.

In the end, Audrey offers Sarah something she never expected: the chance to work at Easton, because there is no one more deserving to be there than Sarah.

............it sucks how the most cursed character analysis and takes on fiction in general I read in fandom usually come from villains and secondary characters stans. It sucks because while I tend to focus on the protagonists, I'm not an anti-villains/secondary characters at all (if you look through this blog, you'll see I hardly hate characters; and unlike their counterpart -main characters stans- I know they're fulfilling their role in the story so for it to be the story that is, duh... that's why, I also find ridiculous when this other side obsess on how you have to Hate This One Character That Antagonizes the Protagonist ™ otherwise you didn't get the plot, lol), so I don't like to sound like one of these people either,

(also, I do believe that they not condemning these characters, ranked from "problematic" to PROBLEMATIC!!!, is also a result of them being more empathetic unlike, like I've always said, ^u^-characters stans who won't let characters pass not even the slightest mistake... and I also don't want anything to do with the purism/anti movement that think they're making activism by defending the rights of a bunch of pixels but end up being pro-censorship neo-conservatives who, let alone they're only against actual villains, they go around throwing words like toxic/problematic/abusive so easily even when it's not the case and it's just them forgetting how human beings work--that the latter tend to be)

but- oh boy... the fact that they're ALWAYS frustrated by the path that the plot of a story takes and just by the basic concept of the protagonists getting their happy ending, the secondaries not getting the spotlight the mains get, and the antagonists being defeated baffles me to no end.

And I'm sorry but. I just. Don't trust that kind of villains/secondary characters stan. Even less when, to boot, they end up sounding as if they think they know better than the same author of the piece of fiction they're analyzing via either metas or discourse.

You are sitting with Alexia’s family preparing to watch your fiancée play in what can only be assumed is the biggest game of her life, there are high spirits and good vibes around with the incredible number of Barcelona fans who have made it to Turin to watch the game. 

“You are literally drooling” Alba leans forward to whisper to you, the team are doing their warm ups and you can’t help but stare at Alexia, she looks incredible so why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to stare. 

“Jealousy is a disease Alba, just because you aren’t dating anyone on the team at the moment, doesn’t mean you have to ruin my day” you state jokingly, the comment making both Alba and Eli laugh wildly, all while you continue staring at Alexia without even an ounce of shame. 

“I just think it is weird that you are my best friend and you are staring at my older sister like that” Alba explains. 

“Alba, she is literally engaged to Alexia, shut up” Eli responds, a cheeky smile on her face, as Alba sulks, making complaints about how you are her favourite child even though you aren’t even biologically her daughter. 

Soon enough the team has finished their warm ups and are making their way back to the locker room. As they are walking back Alexia catches a glimpse at where you are sitting, her eyes light up knowing that you are here, she knew you were coming but actually being able to confirm for herself that you are physically here and made it fills her with a sense of happiness and tranquillity. 

She blows a kiss your way and keeps walking, now making sure to focus on what is ahead, not allowing herself to be distracted. 

“I can’t believe THE Alexia Putellas blew a kiss at me” Alba dramatically acts like a fangirl, all while knowing extremely well that the kiss was not at all directed towards her. 

“And I can’t believe that I am friends with you” you respond, with an eye roll. 

“Excuse me (Y/N/N), we are not friends we are BEST friends and I know you only became friends with me to get close with Alexia” Alba argues, even though everyone is well aware that it is not true. 

“Ali I wish that was the case but seeing as you didn’t even tell me you had a sister for 5 years it seems that I just befriended you because I felt bad” you joke. 

“Take that back right now!” Alba yells, you instead just poke your tongue out at her, “Mama, (Y/N) is being mean to me” she whines looking at her mum like a child does when they tattle on their siblings. 

“Alba stop provoking my baby” Eli responds, pulling you into her arms, the action just making Alba pout even more. 

Before anymore arguments can break out the teams are walking out of the tunnel to line up, you again can’t help but stare at Alexia, this time though it is with a look of admiration and with a feeling of pride knowing that she has led the team to this moment and that she could possibly be leading them to victory today. 

The game starts and you can’t help but immediately feel extremely nervous, this is a game of 90 minutes but you will worriedly sit on the edge of your seat until the final whistle blows even if they go up 5-0 you still never feel secure until it is over. 

The first goal of the game does not do anything to calm your nerves. You first are worried immediately when Alexia is flipped onto the ground, knowing that one day she won’t get up as easily as today. Then of course from the action comes the goal, an incredible one you admit to yourself but it places the thought in your mind that this is now Barcelona’s game to lose and the ramifications that would come along with that result. 

The next goal scares you even more, the header from Ada Hegerberg, you know just how much tension and rivalry is behind that goal, with the lead up to the game making it extremely clear that it was Ada's personal goal to defeat Barcelona to prove that Lyon are just as, if not more important to the women’s game than Barcelona. 

The third goal is downright annoying, all players calling for offside but it being ignored. This is the point where you sadly admit to yourself that the game has been lost, there may still be a whole half of football to play but you know deep down that it is over. 

A saving grace is the goal Alexia manages to get, you are probably the loudest person in the entire stadium, screaming with pride. There is now the return of a small hope that Barcelona can bring it back, that this goal could show them that there is a way to get through Lyon and win. 

The second half of football brings you nothing but displeasure, annoyance and despair. It seems absolutely clear to everyone but the referees that Lyon are doing everything in their power to let time waste away, which would be fine if they were not doing it in unsportsmanlike ways.

You still hold some hope that Barcelona could come back to tie up the scores and force extra time, but as the time ticks on that hope dwindles. And as the 7 excruciating minutes of injury time begin, tears begin to well in your eyes as you finally accept that it is over and what that means for the team. 

The final whistle blows, all hope is lost and the tears that were threatening to fall before flow down your cheeks, you feel horrible for Alexia, already knowing just how hard she is going to take this defeat. 

Alba is the first of Alexia’s family to notice you crying, usually she would immediately be teasing you for the fact that you cry over everything but at the sight she feels her heart break. She quickly pulls you into a tight hug rubbing her hands up and down your back. 

“She’s strong (Y/N), it’ll all be okay” she speaks attempting to calm you all while looking out towards the field seeing Alexia flat on her back sobbing inconsolably. 

You wipe your eyes quickly, not wanting your emotions to overshadow those of the team or more importantly Alexia’s. You look up towards the field, Alba attempts to move your head back towards her body so you can’t see Alexia but your eyes find her immediately, your tears falling once more as you see just how much this loss has broken her.  

You continue to watch on sadly at Alexia’s broken stature. The tears just don’t stop coming and you wish that you were able to just walk over and comfort her, hating the sight of her so broken right in front of you while you are able to do nothing but watch on. 

After the medal ceremony and media duties Alexia is finally able to make her way over to you although she doesn’t particularly want to, she feels like she has let everyone down, especially her family. 

“Baby” you speak carefully, not wanting to say anything that will make her even more upset than she already is. 

She looks up at you immediately, noticing the tear tracks that have flowed down your cheeks and ruined your makeup, “you’ve been crying” she states softly although it seems like more of a question as she really hopes that you hadn’t been disappointed in the result procured. 

“Don’t worry about that” you speak just as softly, grabbing her face in your hands and kissing her forehead sweetly. 

“I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough” she casts her eyes to the ground and barely whispers, only speaking loud enough for you to hear her words, not wanting anyone else to be aware of how ashamed she is. 

“No!” you speak firmly, making her look up at you immediately, not expecting the harsh tone, “the loss is not on you Alexia, there were 10 other people on that field with you at any one time, there was countless staff and other players, it was a team effort and just because you are the captain it does not mean that you are to blame. There were 11 other players plotting your demise, fighting to stop you and toying with the game. You are an incredible athlete and person, I know it hurts now but you Miss Putellas are destined for so much more greatness than you have already achieved and myself and everyone else are nothing but endlessly proud of everything you have done and will continue to do” 

Tears fall freely down Alexia’s cheeks at your words, and while they can’t exactly fix all the emotions she is currently feeling they do aid in assuring her that no one is disappointed in her, which is what she had been most afraid of. 

“I love you so much (Y/N/N)” Alexia sighs, resting her forehead gently against yours, taking in the comfort she feels being so close to you. 

“I love you so much more Ale, I am so proud of you, forever” you smile. 

“And always?” she asks, a small smile tugging at her lips for the first time this evening. 

“And always” you confirm, wrapping your arms around the back of her neck pulling her in for a sweet kiss.
