ok ok there's been some family stuff going on (not all bad don't worry) that made it a bit difficult to wrangle both of my parents and sit down with them to watch tv but we finally watched the two most recent elsbeths! (season 2 episodes 16 and 17 i think? the hot tub throuple one and the conspiracy theory funeral home one)

ok first of all i gotta say about the throuple episode. i don't even like kayabeth and i could not help noticing the ship teasing or whatever like you definitely don't have to interpret the personal life parallel as elsbeth being *romantically* jealous of kaya and needing to let her go in that way but. it's not exactly a far-fetched interpretation

to be clear. when i say i don't like kayabeth i just mean it's not my jam. i respect it and i love y'all. i don't want any beef i'm vegetarian

my parents miss kaya and elsbeth working on cases together. my mom said it was "the best part"

elsbeth and teddy's dynamic is so realistic it's a little uncanny. also i feel bad for the poor guy i hope he figures out like who he wants to be and stuff

roy is so likeable i always forget he's a fucking true crime podcaster. what the hell

edwards is growing on me. i deeply enjoyed when wagner apologized to her for being weird about polyamory and she was basically like thanks i appreciate that but also can i leave now

but also i think it's just that she's been around for a while and i'm just like. naturally inclined to like people and be friendly to them. like i can't help it. unless i have a good reason to really dislike you i just want to help you move stuff and talk to you about calligraphy. i often struggle to remember that "person i've had one (1) pleasant interaction with" is not synonymous with "best friend." if any of my mutuals are reading this i love you

so anyways it's like. she'll be like "ughhh elsbeth again how cringe" and i'm just like "oh hi edwards :)" like it's the love inherent in learning to coexist with someone. same reason we love our siblings y'know

i like cameron but i kinda want more out of him. like i don't really have a sense of his personality. also what do you mean he and kaya got together offscreen?!?

oh this was also the episode with the reveal that 90% of the stuff elsbeth carries around is just like fun little trinkets that serve no practical purpose

a lot of the stuff i insist on carrying with me is more for "what if i need it" (although sometimes it gets a bit absurd, like the lighter, which would be normal if i smoked but i don't, it's for in case i ever need to start a fire) but like. theoretically the graphing calculator serves a practical purpose but we live in the age of desmos, it's just my emotional support TI-84 Plus. or like. i can maybe justify the world atlas (which i got for cheap cause it's slightly outdated) but i cannot justify the electronic football game

it genuinely felt so good when elsbeth took all her junk back from the lady's storage unit

i'm genuinely very curious what they're planning with angus. i do like him his music was nice and he was kind to elsbeth

then in the next one they TEASED me having the lady talking to lieutenant connor at the beginning and then like not showing him again the whole episode. give me connor!!!!!

speaking of my favorite characters can we have donnelly again please? like c'mon. edwards AND fleming and no donnelly?!?

i enjoyed kaya's side quest with the elderly lady

also elsbeth's kindness saving the day! people kinda say that like elsbeth's whole power is that she pretends she's not as smart as she is but i don't think she acts stupid, i think she acts eccentric and whimsical and excessively friendly, which she is, and people decide on their own that that means she must be stupid. i don't think her strength is in being underestimated so much as just in being kind and really getting to know the people involved in the case

she does get underestimated plenty but usually it's not by the killers. they tend to realize pretty quickly that she's onto them

One thing I love about Elsbeth is the reasons the perpetrators have for murdering people. Literally one dude murdered a man for poor theater etiquette. Amazing. 11/10. No notes.
