3.171 Happy birthday to ya

When it got closer to party time, Sophia and I moved the couch to the backyard for more seating options. Our parties always end up fragmented with some sims eating in the house and others on the patio. My goal is to keep everyone together, so hopefully this will help. We also moved the picnic blanket and put the portable crib outside to accommodate the little ones. Because we're friendly again, I invited Yasmine and her girls, but she declined. She doesn't know the other guests and didn't want anyone asking questions about Stacey. I completely understood but feel bad for her. This spellcaster business has really trapped her and the girls in their home.

Apart from my baby aging up, I'm most excited about having Dub and his family in our home for the first time. Between the deaths and parenthood, it's been super hard for us to connect lately. I guess I was naïve enough to believe it would be easier being in the same city, but life keeps proving it doesn't matter where we are. Life is going to life, and that's that. I suppose I'll have to be more intentional about hanging with him too.

"You got it smelling good out here, bro," a voice says from behind me.

That Henford accent is unmistakable, and I was so glad to hear it. I turned around and embraced him.

"Wassup, man! Did you find us okay? Welcome! Finally!"

"Right? Took you long enough!"

"Don't even play, man. You know how life is sometimes."

"Sure do. This house is nice! And the view!"

"Thanks. If you're able to stick around later, I'll give you the tour. Hey, where's Maia? Is she coming?"

"Yeah, she's running a little late. She's just finishing up a project for a client."

"Ahhh. See? San Sequoia has been good to you already. I'm glad her business is picking up."

There's no way Dub showed up alone, so I looked around for Tambara, knowing she couldn't be too far behind. I spotted her toddling across the yard, trying her best to catch up with her daddy.

"She's getting to be extremely independent these days," Dub said when he realized I was watching her. "She won't even let us pick her up anymore. I don't mind that so much, but waiting for her really slows me down."

"She'll get faster," I said, thinking about Desiree's determination. "Just give her time."

Tami and Desi look nothing alike, but I see glimpses of the immediate future in her proud face and wobbly gait. I want Desi to grow up and change the world, but I can't part with my little girl. At the same time, I'm anxious to see her continue to grow. I love watching her smash these milestones like the boss baby she is. Ugh. Fatherhood is just a melting pot of contradictions. How can I be happy and sad, proud and scared at the same time?

Tami finally made her way over to us, so I waved.

"Hey there! Do you remember me? I'm Luca. That's a pretty dress."

Her face lit up, and I knew it didn't matter if she remembered me or not. I was currently her new bestie. Flattery works at all ages, hee hee.

"What do you say when someone gives you a compliment?" Dub asked.

"I know," she shouted.

Me and Dub had a good laugh. She's so precocious, and I love it. Kids really do say the darndest things, and I can't wait to hear what Desi will have to say. Hopefully that's not a be careful what you wish for situation, heh.

"That's right, Tam," I said. "You better know it."

"How are you holding up?" Dub asked, wiping the smile off my face.

"I'm good. As good as I can be, rather. It gets a little better every day."

"I'm glad to hear it. I can't even think about what that's going to be like."

"It might sound morbid, but you should start thinking about it, man. It's the shock that's hard to get over."

"You play dollies with me," Tambara shouts.

That was probably supposed to be a question, but she's too excited about her new, big friend and it's too cute.

"Oh, no," Dub says to me. "You start that and she'll never let you go."

She's adorable, looking just like both of them. I hope she and Desi will like each other. It'll be a shame to have them fighting or snubbing each other when we hang out.

"You can play with Desiree later, okay?" he says.

"Speaking of... We should probably get this show on the road soon. Let me finish these ribs."

After seeing everyone go nuts over the flames or disaster thing in the series I wondered what they’d change if 06 was brought into SCU. Here’s what would happen if I were in charge (but I’ve never played the game and am only partway through watching the cutscene movie so forgive me if I miss something)

-Starts with the Wachowskis and Whipples watching the ceremony like in the game

-Let’s keep Elise in, even though she’s not iblis’ seal. Eggman will only need her for her knowledge, not power. And she’d be older than in the game (more on that in a minute)

-Sonic and Wade go to save her. Sonic distracts Eggman, Wade gets Elise out, Wade and Elise later fall in love

-Silver is a Whipple of the Future, and says the family has both humans and Mobians in it. (I might have him mention he's fourth in line for the throne of Soleanna)

-Elise tells Wade that the one who wields the flames of disaster is the seal for iblis, and that their control over their sorrow keeps him in. Wade knows that it’s Knuckles and is not worried because he has never seen Knuckles be sad

-Let's cut down the number of times Elise gets rescued and recaptured. It gets tedious after, like, the second time.

-I'm not sure if I'd keep the whole Team-Sonic-gets-yeeted-into-the-future thing. It does explain why Silver is trying to kill Sonic, but to save time it might be easier to just have him mention it to Wade, who is constantly trying to keep Silver and Sonic from fighting. After that the two hedgehogs make peace.

-simplify the Mephiles thing by removing the specter of darkness and having him contained some other way, maybe just removing him entirely. Still kinda unsure bout this one.

-Sonic dies. If Mephiles isn't in it, Eggman will do it.

-Knuckles cries, unleashing Iblis. Silver gets himself, Knuckles, and Sonic out of there, despite the fact that Knuckles wants to stay and beat the **** out of Eggman.

-We get a scene where Sonic is in the great battleground in the sky, and gets to talk to Longclaw and possibly Maria.

-then he wakes up in the world of the living, on the kitchen table of his own home. He sees Maddie, Tom, Wade, Elise, Tails, Silver and Shadow. The last one make him like "wait when did he get here?!?!"

-Elise tells him they used the chaos emeralds to bring him back. Silver tells him Knuckles ran off, probably to try and avenge him.

-the three hedgehogs use the Chaos emeralds to go into super state and defeat Iblis with help from Knuckles

-When Knuckles first sees Sonic is back he assumes he is hallucinating.

-when he learns it's for real, he runs over and hugs Sonic for the very first time

-not sure how the game ends so let's just say Silver stays with Wade for a while before going back to the future and everybody lives happily ever after, or at least until the next movie.

Just like Luca said, Desiree is having a great time and not thinking about them at all. Tami on the other hand...let's hope a little sugar high and new friends will be enough to make it through the night lol.

Maia has already put Desi in the second high chair, and I can already tell she has Luca’s relaxed demeanor, or maybe it’s Sophia’s. I don’t know. But although she has to be as tired as Tami, she’s all smiles and giggles as I give them both a sippy cup full of apple juice. Meanwhile, Tami looks like she’s about to go into a total rage at any minute. Divas will be divas, so I chalk it up to that as I escape the room with the excuse of converting the crib upstairs to a toddler bed for Desi to sleep in. Tami is screaming her head off before I make it to the stairs. I feel bad leaving Maia there to deal with it alone.

After reading your opinion of de sp/do comics, I saw a complain that I see a lot of people say about not liking the characters, and it is that they are the worst versions of DP and Sp (with the whole being billionaires etc)

What would be the best versions of Spiderman and Deadpool, in these two scenarios?

1) They doing their usual business while facing challenges and character growth.

2) They being their own ideal selves, they are in their best emotional, financial,heroic selves. (Although I believe this scenario may be similar of how they are in the time skip when they are parents of Elise)

i think there's a typical status-quo for spider-man and deadpool as characters that generally works well, and it's just - what we come to expect from the characters, and most fanon interpretation (and most comics) follow suit - that status quo is something like:

peter parker is broke and generally in a state of misery. probably single. underpaid. probably hated by the public. kind of grumpy. doesn't have a lot of patience for deadpool specifically. wade puts him in a sour mood. it's unusual, because usually spider-man is the quirky annoyance in the dynamic, but in this dynamic, spider-man is the sour-puss. it doesn't come out of left-field, though, we know spider-man is a bit of a bitch - even and especially with other heroes. but deadpool gets his gears grinding like no other. we don't know why he's so mean to wade specifically, but we have an inkling it's probably because wade reminds him so much of a worse version of himself.

wade wilson is chronically lonely and directionless. nomadic. kind of goes where the wind takes him. wants to be part of something. join a team. make a friend. annoy someone until they give in and begrudgingly hang out with him. wants to feel needed and wanted. wants attention. will wear ridiculous outfits and sing and dance and do just about anything to get people's attention. will commit murder to get people's attention. very little in the way of a moral code, except when it benefits him in some way. gets him recognition, gets him closer to people. it isn't all about the money - it's mostly about attention and praise and validation. wade wilson searches for something to give his life worth. he thinks money is a pretty objective signifier of worth, but the fact is, he's looking for something more abstract. which is why he's becoming more inclined to do good, even if it doesn't pay. he's looking for something to give his life worth. not to get heavy, but i think - deep rooted in wade's core, is a feeling that he shouldn't be alive - literally. he was meant to die. he was going to die, but he clung onto life. so he's tirelessly looking for justification as to why he's still alive. he needs constant reminders that his existence is worth something to someone.

so! that's their whole deal. i think. at least to me. if a piece of writing nails those things, i think they're 👌 primo pieces of spiderpool content.

of course, i love to see a stable wade and peter in the future - but fact is - peter's always going to be underpaid. and, well - i think wade's destined for that too. wade's most stable existence is going to be one of mediocrity but domestic stability. same as peter. i think that's why i love the thought of them - their victory isn't anything grand. it's a modest income that, miraculously, pays for an apartment in new york. a daughter. a trip to the bahamas, maybe, if they tighten their belts.

did I seriously learn that Knuckles encountered Iblis pre-movie 2 and might be SCU's Iblis trigger thru a musical number where Wade went into a meditative state, met Pachacamac, and acted as Knux in an echidna costume in said musical number-

Aww! I’m so happy that you’ve enjoyed the series. It definitely has its own special charm to SCU, huh? There are some funky little things that made me raise an eyebrow, sure, but I’m glad to see that the overall experience was that we had fun. I think that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

I will admit, the ‘06 reference is throwing me off a bit. But it’s a cool Easter egg that’ll keep theorists busy until the third movie comes out. I’d love a Silver and Blaze tease to come from this, too!

So I enjoyed the Knuckles mini-series for most of the part despite having some complaints about it(which I will eventually explain in due time). But, man, I fucking hated Wade's sister, Wanda! She was a smug, know-it-all bitch with a really punchable face, who wears her FBI uniform everywhere she goes, and she's abusive! I really can't blame Wade for being okay with having her head blown off, when she stabs him in the arm with a fork when he did absolutely nothing to provoke such a reaction.The fact he was so quick to not give a shit that his sister was about to be killed really makes me wonder just how much Wade had to endure that kind of psychotic behavior from her.

After heaving to endure such an utterly insufferable character, the Sonic fandom owes Chris Thorndyke and Princess Elise an apology after demonizing them for so long!

Okay, trying to ignore. wade. I do have to admit, it's fascinating to see how Iblis isn't residing in Elise but instead a core member of team sonic.

This is such a drastic change that we can't even tell if he runs on the same rules as Elise, is Iblis released when Knux cries, same as Elise? How long has he been able to harness the power of Iblis, properly? Does he know of Solaris or Mephiles since he's traveled a long time on his lonesome, and for that matter, how did he even learn of Iblis, a literal god? Is Mephiles only pure darkness at this point? It's actually very intriguing.

And on somewhat related note, what does this mean for Elise, if they somehow do plan to try something connected to 06?

it would have to be the first time tommy ever took her down to the creek in the woods behind their house. she didn’t know he used to sneak out there  (he wasn’t much older than her at the time, as they were 6 and 8)  and was shocked to see that he and their dad had set up a rope swing. while he wouldn’t let her actually use it, he did show her how it worked and then held her hands to help her wade out into the water. she clung to his leg screaming for joy when a frog hopped into her palm and got choked up when they had to let him go. the two would continue going into the woods, spending more and more time there as they grew, prompting their dad to build them a treehouse.

honorable mention to the time when paris and tommy went into the treehouse for the first time and he showed her how to carve their names onto a plank of wood that would then become their "members list." years later, when twins hollis and elise were born, tommy remarked that they should have their names carved as well. tommy passed before this could happen, so when the twins had a birthday after his death, paris took it upon herself to carve their names herself . . . even if she had been hesitant to do so when tommy was alive.

Everyone looks so good in their Sunday's best!

A few hours later, we arrive at the Vista Hermosa neighborhood of Ciudad Enamorada for our vow exchange. After some research, Maia and I discovered that this spot, ‘The Wall of Love,’ is the most frequently chosen location for couples who decide to elope in the city.

We spend a few minutes reading some of the love declarations previously written on the wall by couples from all over the Sim World. There are messages written in every language. Some are so old that they have faded with time. But there are plenty of new messages too. It’s beautiful to know that falling in love is still in style, and I can’t wait to add to the wall.

It feels almost surreal to be here now with Maia, my daughter, brother, best friend, and his family for this special occasion.

I still feel bad that Ma and Dad couldn’t be here. And it’s even worse because I intended to livestream the vow exchange for them, but I accidentally left my drone at home.

Oc Backstory

It was always the orphanage. My parents dropped me off there as a child. They thought I was a demon's child. I was 2 when I displayed my abilities—that's what the headmaster said.

All I knew about was my origin. I didn't know who or where my biological parents were. The headmaster said they didn't love me. After all, they called me a malas, or in Filipino means misfortune.

Over the course of my years in the Essex House for Mutant Rehabilitation, It was all a cycle. Waking up, eating, chores, and discipline. I grew up to be curious about my own culture, so I always asked the headmaster for books. To learn. Of course, there will always be something in return.

"Blessed are the wicked who are healed by my hands."

He always whispered that to me. But one day, some man in a red suit claimed he was Deadpool, and he came to save a kid. He had pyrokenesis. I felt sad seeing that boy again. He was tortured by the men here. A woman who I recognized, Domino came in and helped us escape. I was familiar with her. When I entered the facility, she was bound to leave.

Now, here I am. An orphan wandering the streets. I have been stealing, of course. I saw Mr. Wade does that a couple of times. I've done it for survival because I escaped Xavier's school for gifted kids. It was okay there, but nonetheless, I didn't like it.
