Honestly, Eddie doesn’t know why it had taken so long for him to realize his and Steve’s children could understand the shit that came out of his mouth.
(It took an embarrassingly long amount of time).
Even when Moe’s third or fourth word was fuck, he didn’t realize it (and she was using it mostly correctly too, which should have been a serious flag, but nope).
What made him realize it was when they started repeating the shit that came out of his mouth.
To strangers.
In public.
The first time Eddie had been really caught off guard by something one of his daughters said was when Moe, who was three at the time, had proudly announced to an unsuspecting grocery store cashier, “Daddy says my Papa’s a DILF!”
And, like, Eddie had just heard the term for the first time, and obviously he was goddamn delighted by it because…duh. Steve.
It just hadn’t occurred to him that his toddler might have caught it too, but little pitchers have big ears, or so the proverb suggests, and Eddie had taken it as a wake-up call that Moe isn’t a baby anymore (tragic as it may be).
He’s not the only problem though – Steve is just as bad, (if not worse, because he really doesn’t bother to check where their kids are before he starts running his mouth).
One particularly damning incident was at a restaurant, which is something they don’t even do all that often because, seriously, going to a restaurant with very young kids should be an Olympic event or something.
(The last time they all went out to eat, Nancy and Robin had made a drinking game out of all the times Steve and Eddie had to take a child to the bathroom and ended up so far gone that Eddie had needed to drive them home).
The incident started with the waitress asking, “Can I get you started with anything to drink?”
And it had ended with four-year-old Moe confidently announcing, “My Papa needs a fucking margarita.”
Thank god, the waitress had been a twenty-something college student and thought it was hilarious, but Steve had still been completely mortified.

Honestly? Elementary is, in my opinion, the greatest adaptation of a modern day sherlock. I hate when people think that sherlock was some kind of arrogant, self-centered genius that everyone just tolerated cuz he was so effective. I mean yeah he was a little cold in the books, but he was never needlessly rude and certainly never cruel for the fun of it. He had layers and depth. He had his flaws but ACD always just saw him an ordinary man with extraordinary ability. They way your and JLM's Sherlock builds himself in such different world from ACD's, while still maintaining all that authenticity is mind blowing. Like I genuinely think people should watch this in film school before approaching adaptations. Your team and you truly brought Holmes back to life for an entire generation, and you cast the perfect guy to do it. I just. I'm in awe. Have a good day ig.
I like you. You seem smart.

Elementary s1 e13, the red team, is so good because it’s the opposite of Sherlock. Sherlock has this message of “he thinks he’s special, and he’s right, so everyone should appreciate that and respect him”
This episode of elementary says “he thinks he’s special, and he’s right, but his self-centered attitude hurts people and makes him untrustworthy to the point where even people he cares about don’t feel like they know who he is, and in the long run, it’s going to be detrimental to everyone involved if he doesn’t change”

Do you know where to stream sherlock holmes movies? (Not youtube)
I know there is a master list somewhere but cannot find it 😭
Just to preface this, I think the master list you might be thinking of is The Giant List of Sherlock Holmes Adaptations by @beekeaper- it has links for tons of adaptations, although a lot of them are on YouTube so that may not work for you.
It depends on which movies you want to watch, but Internet Archive has a lot of Holmes movies for free:
Rathbone Holmes movies
Granada Holmes
The Seven Percent Solution
Howard Holmes
Wilmer Holmes
The Great Mouse Detective
Sherlock Hound
Internet Archive also has some amazing Sherlock Holmes radio dramas, including:
Rathbone Radio
Conway Radio (continuation of Rathbone with a new actor for Holmes)
Bert Coules/Clive Merrisson Radio
The Unopened Casebook of Sherlock Holmes
Outside of Internet Archive for Holmes movies/series, Amazon has The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes available for free with ads.
Tubi and PlutoTV also have a lot of Holmes movies for free with ads, including:
Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century
Sherlock Holmes 2010 (The one with the dinosaurs)
Incident at Victoria Falls
Sherlock Bones: Undercover Dog
Sherlock Gnomes
+ a bunch more that I've already listed elsewhere and a few made-for-TV movies no one's ever heard of that weren't funny enough to make the list.
I also highly recommend checking out @spiritcc's blog for a comprehensive list of where to watch various Russian Sherlock Holmes movies/series with English subtitles! This is by no means a comprehensive list because there's always more Holmes adaptations out there, but if you want to watch some of the best Holmes performances (or some of the really silly ones) for free, this list is a good place to start! If anyone knows where to stream other Holmes-related media for free, feel free to reblog and add to the list!

it’s pretty horrifying to know that however this genocide ends, the united states government- my government, will take no accountability for it’s war crimes, the global destabilization, the cultural impact of casually assisting in the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. the media outlets will pretend they were non bias and still have journalistic integrity as if they told the truth to the core population. history textbooks will be published with fake reasons this ‘war’ began and how america was somehow heroic in involvement. politicians will use their involvement as a stepping stone to even more power. it literally turns my fucking stomach thinking about the future because i know what the past has been. indigenous people being removed from their lands, brutally murdered and/or tortured for one reason only. greed. however it ends, we cannot just forget and move on. palestinians deserve our fucking support. ‘to the victor goes the spoils’ how about no. how about we take this as the turning point in history that it is and stop pretending things will magically get better if we avert our eyes from the subject. barbaric acts of senseless murder should be met with extreme vocal condemnation by those who are left standing to talk about it. there is no world in which this is justified. however it ends— do not forget that this has set a precedent for governments to begin globally murdering indigenous people en masse and get away with it. the past will always be the future until we decide to change it.

(Sorry not sorry BUT THIS PICTURE spoke to me; hear me out!)
The look he could give when iris throws a tantrum & says something mean without thinking; immediately notices the look; body slams him with her tiny body before apologizing profusely, making him laugh / smile, messing up his long hair before making a run for it before he could react & for added extra adorableness; Miles could be trying to be dead weight by clinging to Joel’s leg to give Iris a head start at escaping; wearing nothing but a training diaper, toddler cow boy boots, a toddler cow boy hat & shrieking with laughter as he’s shouting in his tiny southern drawl that he’s under arrest!
Okay I’m done; have a good day! ❤️🤭
you’ve inspired me 😭 elementary!drabble under the cut!!! 🫶🏼
“Iris,” Joel scolded, standing inside of the garage as he watched Iris and Miles play in the kiddie pool on the front lawn. Iris had just shoved her younger brother so hard it made him slip and fall onto his back, his loud wails no doubt heard from the other side of Austin. He stomped over to the inflatable pool, his eyes stern and hands on his hips. “Come on, you’re done for today.”
“No, daddy,” she cried, stomping her foot.
“No, you had your chance to play, but you messed that all up when you pushed your brother,” he said, walking over to scoop a sopping wet Miles up into his arms. He gave her a firm look and a tip of his chin in the direction of the front door. “G’on, your mama’s inside makin’ dinner.”
“No,” she protested, folding her arms over her chest and giving him a scrunched up face. Adorable, even in the middle of a tantrum.
“Go on,” he enunciated himself, pointing his finger at the door.
“I hate you, daddy,” she shouted. Joel’s face fell into something so tender and hurt that it forced the little girl out of her tantrum. She rushed over to him, clinging to his leg. “I’m sorry, daddy! I don’ hate you!”
Joel shook his head and let out a soft chuckle, smoothing his hand over her back to coax her to look up at him. “I know, baby. But when daddy tells you to do somethin’, you do it. Alright?”
She nodded, sniveling as she recovered from her tears. “Don’t make me tell mama.”
“Then you need to look your brother in the eye and tell him you’re sorry,” Joel bargained, setting Miles down onto the grass. “G’on, then.”
Miles watched his older sister begrudgingly give him a hug, mumbling, “M’sorry.”
“Now it’s my turn,” Joel smiled, crouching down low to meet her at eye level. Iris grinned, almost tackling into the grass as she threw her arms over his neck with a giggle.
“Sorry, daddy,” she giggled, squirming as he fell back into the grass, taking her with him.
“You don’t hate me?” he asked, lifting her up into the air as he laid on his back.
“No!” she squealed.
“Alright,” he chuckled, setting her down. “Y’all can have a few more minutes in the pool, then. But no fightin’, y’hear me?”
The spoke in unison, “Okay, daddy!”
Joel left them to it, his back itching from the wet grass he’d been laying on as he walked towards the front door that was now open. He smiled at you as you leaned against the doorframe, shaking your head with an impresses grin.
“Well done, daddy,” you commended. Joel stepped up onto the front step and tugged you into his arms, giving you a greedy kiss.
“She about broke my heart there for a second,” he confessed, turning to join you in watching them play. “Her teenage years might kill me, I think.”
“Not as long as you use that face you gave her,” you laughed. “That nearly broke my heart.”

I have been rewatching Elementary this last week. I watched it all when it aired and I have to say you guys delivered the best holmes adaptation pretty much ever. Adaptation is so hard and you’ve done it beautifully. As a writer myself I just wanted to let you know, your show means so much to people. It means so much to me. And I hope you’re proud of it— and staying sane nowadays with *gestures broadly* everything!
Thank you so much. Everyone who worked on ELEMENTARY is very proud of our little murder show, and it's always nice to hear other people enjoyed it. It's been very gratifying to hear how much ELEMENTARY has meant to the neurodiverse and people struggling with addictions and lots of other folks too.
As for... everything, I'm doing okay. I'm on another network procedural, THE IRRATIONAL, and having a wonderful time. In fact, I'm in Canada now producing my final episode from season three, co-written with fellow ELEMENTARY alum Jordan Rosenberg.
