Before you read to the end, does anybody know what the main ingredient of WD-40?

I had a neighbour who bought a new pickup.
I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray
painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown
reason).
I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news.
He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do ....
probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.
Another neighbour came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off.
It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint
job that was on the truck. I was impressed!

The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and
degreaser to protect missile parts.
WD-40 was created in 1953, by three technicians at the San Diego
Rocket Chemical Company.
Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'Water
Displacement' Compound.
They were finally successful for a formulation, with their fortieth
attempt, thus WD-40. The 'Convair Company' bought it in bulk to
protect their atlas missile parts.
Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40
that would hurt you.
When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing
that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic,
it works just as well as on glass. It's a miracle!
Then try it on your stove-top.
It's now shinier than it's ever been.
You'll be amazed.
WD-40 Uses:
1. Protects silver from tarnishing.
2. Removes road tar and grime from cars.
3. Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.
4. Gives floor that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery.

40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and
stops the itch.
41. It is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray it on the marks
and wipe with a clean rag.
42. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed
and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the
lipstick spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone!
43. If you spray it inside a wet distributor cap, it will displace the
moisture, allowing the engine to start.

Tens of thousands of Volkswagen employees have halted production to protest proposed pay cuts. The German automaker has stated it will need to close three manufacturing plants due to rising labor expenses, material shortages, and, most importantly – the climate change agenda that has demonized fossil fuels.
Over 120,000 workers now face a 10% pay cut if they can manage to keep their jobs. The IG Metall union has warned that protests will be fierce. Volkswagen remains Germany’s top-selling car brand, composing 19% of the market share. Yet profit margins have dropped from a forecast of 7% to 5.6% for 2024 after the company’s cash flow turned negative in the first half of the year. The company states it needs to save 10 billion euros by 2026 in addition to finding a way to cut another 4 billion euros. Operating profits have fallen by 11.4% and they simply cannot continue producing these EVs at the same pace they were producing dreaded fuel-powered cars because the demand is not there.
Now many blame China for providing state subsidies for EVs that are far cheaper than the vehicles produced in Germany. This is why places like the US have placed a 100% tariff on those vehicles so that there is no demand. However, there is simply low demand for electric vehicles everywhere. You cannot force people to buy EVs even if you destroy the energy sector and make prices skyrocket 300% as they did by killing Nordstream. Pushing manufacturers to switch to meet these arbitrary emission targets is killing the entire auto sector which is about 17% of Germany’s entire GDP.
Germany believes it can reduce carbon emissions by 65% by 2030, followed by an 88% reduction into 2040 before meeting gas net neutrality in 2045. They claim that Germany is five years behind on its adoption of electric vehicles as it is far from meeting its goal of 15 million EVs by 2030. The average EV price in euro shot up 7.5% in the past year to €56,669. Infrastructure and charging stations remain inadequate to meet these goals.
Germany relies heavily on automotives, and Europe relies heavily on Germany as its top economy. Now, due to climate initiatives, Volkswagen is closing plants for the first time in its 87-year history. Pay close attention to Germany’s automotive sector, as it could easily cause a ripple effect throughout the entire European economy.

China’s largest automaker, BYD, is selling its Dolphin hatchback EV for a low-low $15,000, complete with a 13-inch rotating screen, ventilated front seats, and a 260-mile range. Here in the U.S., you have to pay more than twice that price for the Tesla Model 3 EV ($39,000) with lower tech and only 10 more miles of driving range. In case $15K beats your budget, the Dolphin has a plug-in hybrid version with an industry-leading 74-mile range on a single charge for only $11,000 and an upgrade with an unbeatable combined gas-electric range of 1,300 miles. Not surprisingly, EVs surged to 52% of all auto sales in China last year. And with such a strong domestic springboard into the world market, Chinese companies accounted for more than 70% of global EV sales.
It’s time to face reality in the world of cars and light trucks. Let’s admit it, China’s visionary industrial policy is the source of its growing dominance over global EV production. Back in 2009-2010, three years before Elon Musk sold his first mass-production Tesla, Beijing decided to accelerate the growth of its domestic auto industry, including cheap, all-electric vehicles with short ranges for its city drivers. Realizing that an EV is just a steel box with a battery, and battery quality determines car quality, Beijing set about systematically creating a vertical monopoly for those batteries — from raw materials like lithium and cobalt from the Congo all the way to cutting-edge factories for the final product. With its chokehold on refining all the essential raw materials for EV batteries (cobalt, graphite, lithium, and nickel), by 2023-2024 China accounted for well over 80% of global sales of battery components and nearly two-thirds of all finished EV batteries.
Clearly, new technology is driving our automotive future, and it’s increasingly clear that China is in the driver’s seat, ready to run over the auto industries of the U.S. and the European Union like so much roadkill. Indeed, Beijing switched to the export of autos, particularly EVs, to kick-start its slumbering economy in the aftermath of the Covid lockdown.
Given that it was already the world’s industrial powerhouse, China’s auto industry was more than ready for the challenge. After robotic factories there assemble complete cars, hands-free, from metal stamping to spray painting for less than the cost of a top-end refrigerator in the U.S., Chinese companies pop in their low-cost batteries and head to one of the country’s fully automated shipping ports. There, instead of relying on commercial carriers, leading automaker BYD cut costs to the bone by launching its own fleet of eight enormous ocean-going freighters. It started in January 2024 with the BYD Explorer No. 1, capable of carrying 7,000 vehicles anywhere in the world, custom-designed for speedy drive-on, drive-off delivery. That same month, another major Chinese company you’ve undoubtedly never heard of, SAIC Motor, launched an even larger freighter, which regularly transports 7,600 cars to global markets.
Those cars are already heading for Europe, where BYD’s Dolphin has won a “5-Star Euro Safety Rating” and its dealerships are popping up like mushrooms in a mine shaft. In a matter of months, Chinese cars had captured 11% of the European market. Last year, BYD began planning its first factory in Mexico as an “export hub” for the American market and is already building billion-dollar factories in Turkey, Thailand, and Indonesia. Realizing that “20% to 30%” of his company’s revenue is at risk, Ford CEO Jim Farley says his plants are switching to low-cost EVs to keep up. After the looming competition led GM to bring back its low-cost Chevy Bolt EV, company Vice President Kurt Kelty said that GM will “drive the cost of E.V.s to lower than internal combustion engine vehicles.”
So, what does all this mean for America? In the past four years, the Biden administration made real strides in protecting the future of the country’s auto industry, which is headed toward ensuring that American motorists will be driving $10,000 EVs with a 1,000-mile range, a 10-year warranty, a running cost of 10 cents a mile, and 0 (yes zero!) climate-killing carbon emissions.
Not only did President Biden extend the critical $7,500 tax credit for the purchase of an American-made EV, but his 2021 Infrastructure Act helped raise the number of public-charging ports to a reasonable 192,000, with 1,000 more still being added weekly, reducing the range anxiety that troubles half of all American car owners. To cut the cost of the electricity needed to drive those car chargers, his 2022 Inflation Reduction Act allocated $370 billion to accelerate the transition to low-cost green energy. With such support, U.S. EV sales jumped 7% to a record 1.3 million units in 2024.
Most important of all, that funding stimulated research for a next-generation solid-state battery that could break China’s present stranglehold over most of the components needed to produce the current lithium-ion EV batteries. The solution: a blindingly simple bit of all-American innovation — don’t use any of those made-in-China components. With investment help from Volkswagen, the U.S. firm QuantumScape has recently developed a prototype for a solid-state battery that can reach “80% state of charge in less than 15 minutes,” while ensuring “improved safety,” extended battery life, and a driving range of 500 miles. Already, investment advisors are touting the company as the next Nvidia.
But wait a grim moment! If we take President Donald Trump at his word, his policies will slam the brakes on any such gains for the next four years — just long enough to potentially send the Detroit auto industry into a death spiral. On the campaign trail last year, Trump asked oil industry executives for a billion dollars in “campaign cash,” and told the Republican convention that he would “end the electrical vehicle mandate on day one” and thereby save “the U.S. auto industry from complete obliteration.” And in his victory speech last November, he celebrated the country’s oil reserves, saying, “We have more liquid gold than anyone else in the world.”

It was just last week that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was touring the Indo-Pacific and pledging his support for U.S. allies in Asia. That was then. By Wednesday, the script had flipped, with President Donald Trump declaring economic war on some of those very same countries. 
“In many cases, the friend is worse than the foe in terms of trade,” Trump said as he unveiled sweeping “reciprocal” tariffs, which sent markets on a downward spiral. The announcement, dubbed “Liberation Day” by Trump, brings the United States back to tariff levels not seen since the early 1900s, with a baseline rate of 10 percent on all countries and rates reaching as high as 50 percent. Even though the move was telegraphed for months, the final tariffs were higher than anticipated, shocking investors and officials across the world.
China unsurprisingly came out near the top of Trump’s list with a 34 percent tariff rate. The administration has already imposed two rounds of 10 percent tariffs this year, for what it said was China’s failure to curb the fentanyl trade. Together, the tariffs amount to a 54 percent rate on Chinese imports—a historic high, with some goods, such as electric vehicles, under much higher individual rates in addition.
China’s cumulative tariff burden is now formidable. With Trump targeting all countries, Chinese companies that have moved their production to Southeast Asia or Mexico will also be impacted. On top of all that, Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday eliminating the de minimis rule for China, which had allowed for packages under $800 to avoid customs inspection. Chinese companies in the drop-shipping industry, such as Temu and Shein, have exploited the loophole to make huge profits.
Overall, the new trade war may make Trump’s first-term trade war on China look mild in retrospect. Economists predict that the new total tariff burden could shave as much as 2.4 percent off China’s GDP this year, according to one estimate from Citigroup. China had set a goal of 5 percent growth.
So far, China has calmly weathered Trump’s tariffs, but the pressure is building. On Thursday, it vowed to retaliate. “China strongly opposes the move and will firmly take countermeasures to safeguard its own interests,” a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson said, calling the tariffs a “typical unilateral bullying practice.” 
China has responded to Trump’s earlier measures by imposing its own tariffs on a range of energy and agricultural products, blacklisting U.S. companies, and restricting the export of critical minerals. Wendy Cutler, a vice president at the Asia Society Policy Institute, said China would likely continue to use the full range of weapons in its arsenal to respond but would try not to further aggravate the situation. “Beijing will most likely be careful not to escalate but to respond proportionally,” she said. 
Agriculture may be the softest target for China, following its imposition of 10 to 15 percent tariffs on key U.S. exports including chicken and soybeans this year. China is the largest agricultural market for U.S. exporters, and significant new tariffs would be highly painful for U.S. farmers, most of them in Republican-leaning states, who are already suffering from the cancellation of U.S. government contracts and plunging prices. 
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer have both had preliminary calls with their Chinese counterparts, but the near-term possibility of a second trade deal seems increasingly unlikely. “While there seems to be interest on both the part of Beijing and Washington to negotiate a new trade deal, the prospects get more complicated with each action taken,” Cutler said. Any significant progress will likely require getting both leaders to the table. Chinese and U.S. officials have reportedly discussed a possible meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump in June, but no further details have emerged.
In the meantime, China will look for other ways to offset its economic losses. Analysts said China would need to unleash hundreds of billions in stimulus to make up for the loss in U.S. trade revenue. At the same time, Xi has been attempting to make China more appealing to global industry, meeting with foreign CEOs last Friday and promising equal treatment with domestic firms. It’s a hard sell, given China’s national security clampdown on private companies in recent years. China is also looking to bolster trade with other countries. Shortly after Trump’s decision, news broke that China and the European Union will return to the negotiating table to revisit tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. 
Although the Liberation Day plan will certainly harm the Chinese economy, weakening China doesn’t appear to be the Trump administration’s primary objective—since U.S. allies are being targeted as well. Japan and South Korea, key U.S. trade and defense partners, were slapped with 24 and 26 percent tariffs, respectively, in addition to the earlier announcement of 25 percent tariffs on imported cars, which will hit both countries’ auto giants particularly hard. Neither country immediately announced any countermeasures. In a press conference on Thursday, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who has spent months courting Trump, said the decision was “very disappointing.”
“I think they will want to avoid really angering Trump, but I think for domestic political purposes, there will have to be some response. They can’t just allow tariffs this high to go without any response at all,” said Zack Cooper, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Japanese and Korean companies that announced investments in the United States recently—in order to curry favor with Trump—might come under pressure from their governments to walk them back in light of the tariffs, according to Cooper.
Taiwan is also in a precarious position. It has been saddled with a 32 percent tariff, just 2 percentage points below China’s, and Trump repeated on Wednesday his frequent complaint about the island’s chip dominance. “They took all of our computer chips and semiconductors. We used to be the king, right? We were everything. We had all of it. Now we have almost none of it,” he said. He lauded Taiwanese chip giant TSMC’s recent announcement to invest $100 billion in the United States, but that deal clearly wasn’t enough to dissuade Trump from levying tariffs. 
With Chinese military exercises increasing around Taiwan, Taiwanese officials have little room to maneuver. “Taiwan is in no position to retaliate. The Taiwanese government will try to express dismay through diplomatic channels, but this won’t result in any change,” said Jason Hsu, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute who previously served as a legislator in Taiwan.
The U.S. tariffs imposed on Australia, a longtime ally critical to military logistics in Asia, have made Trump a target across the political spectrum there. The ruling Labor Party is now turning against the AUKUS deal, a trilateral security partnership under which Australia would buy U.S.-made nuclear submarines and cooperate closely with Washington. China had strongly protested the arrangement.
Trump’s cudgel also landed heavily on Southeast Asian nations that have hedged between Washington and Beijing, with Vietnam facing a 46 percent tariff. These countries will likely be drawn closer into Beijing’s orbit as they look to its market to absorb their goods. 
“I think the reality is that Trump just doesn’t see economic issues and security issues as very connected and he doesn’t really care that much about security issues,” Cooper said. “Trump is undermining the case of those in these countries who want to maintain robust relations with the United States, and what will probably happen is that many of these countries will just slowly back away from from the United States, both as an economic partner but I think over time as a security partner as well.”
It’s difficult to see a coherent U.S. strategy for taking on Beijing in these measures. There are multiple competing factions of China hawks inside the Trump administration, some of whom are tariff enthusiasts. “Decoupling” from China is one possible end goal, which would require erecting major trade barriers. 
But this round of tariffs looks like an attempt at decoupling from the entire world, including the United States’ closest allies. The hope among China hawks may be that Trump’s supercharged trade war will force China’s economy into a crisis that threatens the Communist Party’s stability—potentially at the cost of a global recession. 
Many advocates of decoupling with China have looked to friendshoring as a solution, where key parts of supply chains previously dependent on China would be transferred to friendlier countries such as Mexico and Vietnam. Placing tariff barriers on these states—in Vietnam’s case, an even higher one than on China—makes that impossible and imposes harsh costs on firms that have spent hundreds of millions of dollars diversifying from China. 
Reshoring industrial production to the United States entirely is extremely difficult, since the country lacks the basic infrastructure for many industries, from rare-earth processing to board game production, that moved overseas. Labor costs in the United States are also higher.
The new tariff list also signifies a carelessness that runs counter to any notion of grand strategy and bodes ill for future trade negotiations, which require intense attention to detail. The tariff rate for each country was calculated using a universal formula based on the size of its trade surplus in goods with the United States, meaning that states that produce goods Americans want—most noticeably cheap textiles—were among those hardest hit. The near-universal application of this rate leaves no room for other strategic considerations.
The list of target countries is particularly incoherent. Nissan March Cabriolet (CVT) 1.79 million yen
NISSAN MARCH CABRIOLET
The ``Cabriolet'' has been added to Nissan's ``cash cow'' March, with approximately 300,000 units sold each year around the world.
This model was originally exhibited as a reference at the 31st Tokyo Motor Show, but it was decided to go on sale this time because ``many customers requested that it be commercially available.'' However, it's already been two years since the last motor show, so I can't help but wonder, ``Why now?''
Regarding this, when the current March was announced in 1992, it was declared that there would be no model changes for 10 years. However, if we think about the next five years, we cannot rest on our laurels, so we announced the Cabriolet as the top grade of the March brand, creating a buzz and drawing attention to the March again. This seems to be a more realistic reason.It is produced by Takada Kogyo, a Nissan affiliate company that also produced the previous March-based Be-1 and Pao.
The exterior of the March Cabriolet is quite cute. In addition to simply removing the roof, a light notch was added to the rear end of the body to tighten the buttocks.

Generally speaking, a 4-seater that opens up has a wide opening, which means that the wind is forced into the cabin, but in the case of the March, the high A-pillar of the tall boy style remains, so the side windows can be opened. Once you raise it up, the wind doesn't really bother you.
The closed-body March is available with two engines, 1ℓ and 1.3ℓ, but only the 1.3ℓ, which produces 79 ps, is available in the Cabriolet. However, due to the reinforcements added to the open body, the vehicle weighs 110kg more than before, so its power performance is on par with the liter version of a hatchback. When you step on the accelerator, the exhaust pipe emits a brave sound, but the speed does not increase as much as that sound. Big taxes will be imposed on imports of electric vehicles from China to the EU after the majority of member states backed the plans.
The move to introduce tariffs aims to protect the European car industry from being undermined by what EU politicians believe are unfair Chinese-state subsidies on its own cars.
Tariffs on electric cars made in China are set to rise from 10% to up to 45% for the next five years, but there have been concerns such a move could raise electric vehicle (EV) prices for buyers.
The decision, which split EU member states such as France and Germany, risks sparking a trade war between Brussels and Beijing, which has condemned the tariffs as protectionist.
China has been counting on high-tech products to help revive its flagging economy and the EU is the largest overseas market for the country's electric car industry.
Its domestic car industry has grown rapidly over the past two decades and its brands, such as BYD, have begun moving into international markets, prompting fears from the likes of the EU that its own companies will be unable to compete with the cheaper prices.
The EU imposed import tariffs of varying levels on different Chinese manufacturers in the summer, but Friday's vote was to decide if they were implemented for the next five years.
The charges were calculated based on estimates of how much Chinese state aid each manufacturer has received following an EU investigation. The European Commission set individual duties on three major Chinese EV brands - SAIC, BYD and Geely.
EU members were divided on tariffs. Germany, whose car manufacturing industry is heavily dependent on exports to China, was against them. Many EU members abstained in the vote.
German carmakers have been vocal in opposition. Volkswagen says tariffs are "the wrong approach".
However, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland were reported to have backed the import taxes. The tariffs proposal could only have been blocked if a qualified majority of 15 members voted against it.
Germany's top industry association, BDI, called on the European Union and China to continue trade talks over tariffs to avoid an "escalating trade conflict".
The European Commission, which held the vote, said the EU and China would "work hard to explore an alternative solution" to the import taxes to address what it called "injurious subsidisation" of Chinese electric vehicles.
China's Commerce Ministry called the decision to impose tariffs "unfair" and "unreasonable", but added the issue could be resolved through negotiations.
The dispute has raised fears among industry groups outside the car sector that they could face retaliatory tariffs from China.
A trade body for the French cognac industry said the French authorities "have abandoned us".
"We do not understand why our sector is being sacrificed in this way."
It said a negotiated solution needed to be found that would "prevent our products from facing a surtax that could exclude them from the Chinese market".
'Serious concerns' over UK sales
Figures show that in August this year, EU registrations of battery-electric cars fell by 43.9% from a year earlier.
In the UK, demand for new electric vehicles hit a new record in September, but orders were mostly driven by commercial deals and by big manufacturer discounts, according to the industry trade body.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said firms had "serious concerns as the market is not growing quickly enough to meet mandated targets".
The industry has warned that drivers need better incentives to buy electric to help manufacturers ahead of the planned ban on sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles. Under the Conservative government the deadline for this ban was pushed back to 2035 from 2030, but Labour has pledged to bring it back to 2030.
Car makers are required to meet electric vehicle sales targets. Under the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, at least 22% of vehicles sold this year must be zero-emission, with the target expected to hit 80% by 2030 and 100% by 2035.
Manufacturers that fail to hit quotas could be fined £15,000 per car.
The bosses of several car companies, including BMW, Ford and Nissan, wrote to Chancellor Rachel Reeves on Friday saying the industry was likely to miss these targets.
They said economic factors such as higher energy and material costs and interest rates had meant electric cars remained "stubbornly more expensive and consumers are wary of investing". The average cost to buy an electric car in the UK is around £48,000.
They said a "lack of confidence" in the UK’s charging infrastructure was another barrier to encourage people to switch to electric.

The technology coming out of China is quite remarkable. China has unveiled the world’s first pilotless air taxi service. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued Air Operator Certificates (OCs) to EHang Holdings in Guangdong Province and its subsidiary, Heyi Aviation. The companies believe this will boost China’s tourism sector and pave the way for the normalization of flying vehicles over the next five years.
EHang’s EH216-S is a two-seat electric drone that can travel at a top speed of 80 mph (130 km/h) over a range of 18.6 miles (30 km). Heyi Aviation has a similar model as well that is meant for “low-altitude economy” flights. Initial operations will be restricted to closed-loop routes that land and takeoff at the same location.
Ehang’s Vice President He Tianxing said phase one of pilotless taxis will begin this year into 2026, focusing solely on tourism travel in Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Taiyuan, Wuxi, Wenzhou and Wuhan. Flights will initially vary from three to 10 minutes as phase one is about novelty and the excitement of air travel rather than commuting or transportation. Tianxing said the experience is “just like riding in a car.”
“The human-carrying pilotless aviation and the low-altitude economy, as an emerging industry, is still in its developmental stage and remains a national strategic focus in China’s aviation sector,” EHang said. There are still many challenges to be addressed and improvements to be made, requiring industry-wide collaborations.”
Phase two will occur from 2026 to 2030 to include urban air taxis capable of traveling longer distances. These taxis will be used for actual commuting and transport purposes, creating a new “low-altitude economy.”
