ELAINE: Guys, I think I'm pregnant.
JERRY: Congratulations! ... Is it congratulations? Do you want to be pregnant?
ELAINE: I think I do. It only lasts nine months, right?
GEORGE: Do you know who's the father? Ow! Jerry!!
ELAINE: Pretty sure. Remember I told you my father invited Lancelot over for dinner, and then got him drunk? He made Lancelot think I was Guenevere.
JERRY: What? Before you kind of left out the part where you went to bed with the best knight in the world and the queen's paramour.
ELAINE: Dad thinks we're descended from Joseph of Arimathea and Lancelot is from a cadet branch of Jesus' family. He's trying to breed the anti-antichrist, or something.
GEORGE: What's your half-brother the king got to say about all this?
KRAMER: (enters carrying three huge vases filled with lillies) Anyone need a funeral boat full of flowers?
I think about "seinfeld is a better arthurian adaptation than bbc's merlin bc it has a woman named elaine" every single day of my life. @ whoever commented that can we kiss.

In the Camelot flashback it mentions that House Galis has a leaping stag symbol. If its not a spoiler what are the other house symbols
Tumblr media
Pretty much all the five million different royal & noble houses & various clans would have these, so I'll just give a few samples here of the main image in the heraldry (which would be further personalized with crowns and bends and unicorns holding up the pennants & such).
House Prydain (subsumed by Pendragon): Red Dragon Passant (Basically the Welsh dragon, Ambrosius, Uther, Arthur etc)
House Orkney: Two-headed Golden Eagle (Pretty much shown all over the Orkney-related Wiki pages, Lot, Gawain, Agravain etc)
House Lyoness: Gold lion rampart (A variation from Tristan's wiki page, also Rivalin, Ysaie etc)
House Ganis: Sable five pointed star & crescent moon on a field of red (Bors I & II, Lionel, Bleoberis etc)
House Carbonek: Gold chalice (non-metallic) on a field of red (I think you know what this is, Pellam, Elaine, Galahad)
House Tintagel: Ten bezants on a field of sable (Triangle comprised of ten golden orbs, same as the Duke of Cornwall seen here, Gorlois, Cador, Constantine)

Junior Thesis
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
some stuff I worked on for my junior thesis project earlier this year. Ill share the full finished comic later on but for now enjoy these character designs and such 🫶
the watercolor version of the cover looked too much like bradley james when that was like, not the point of the assignment, which is why the finished digital version looks so much different. I still prefer the original watercolor version but i tend to always favour my watercolor versions of things
In depth explanation below cut
the junior thesis assignment was the adapt a book into a six page comic and we could have creative freedom with certain things and the book only ever mentioned the color of guenever's hair and eyes, NOT her skin color or features and so I had my fun with her design. the ONLY description they give lancelot in the entire book is that hes ugly and beauty is subjective so i gave him "non traditional" features. In one of my original sketches for him, he was going to have crooked teeth, but unfortunately i do not draw teeth well LMAO. I wanted Arthur and Lancelot's designs to contrast each other as well. Arthur is shorter and stockier where Lance is taller and thinner, Arthur keeps his feelings quiet while Lance wears them on his chest, and then i wanted there to be the stark color difference too between them.
Morgause and Mordred were fun, but they both had a lot more descriptive descriptions in the book, so I didn't get as much creative control outside of their outfits. I assigned the Lot family the color blue and the Camelot cotizens red to try and contrast better throughout the story and it was kinda fun cause it made mordred look like an ice prince or something.
also despite gwen lance and arthur being around the same age at the point of my comic, i wanted to try and make arthur look the oldest, sort of visually show how much being king and his decisions has weighed on him, especially since the scene I adapted was pretty heavy.
also i did have a reference page for gwen but at some point it got deleted? so in this its just a fun drawing I did of her holding excalibur instead. I do also have a full reference drawing for exacalibur in my files that was useless because i never ended up drawing it in the comic LMAO
the last photo is the cornwall sisters, Elaine, Morgan and Morgause. With their designs i had fun trying to make them look related to each other, to Arthur and their parents but also try to not make them all have the same face. Elaine looks like her mother, Morgan looks like her father, Morgause looks like a mix of both (Uthers hair color but Ygraine's hair style, Uther's face but Ygraine's eye color) and Arthur looks like a perfect blend of both too. I sort of did the same with Mordred where I took features from both morgause and arthur to make him look related but like his own person. Ygraine and Uther are only in one panel so there's no proper ref for either of them.
This project was a five month process, six if you count writing the script to fit within a six page comic without losing any details from the book and creating my pitch for my professor (all of which was done over winter break)
The project took FOREVER and I definitely am not happy with the final result but its due to the fact i had frequent doctor visits and hospitalisations and wasnt able to work on it as much as I had wanted, PLUS i had an eight page comic for another class i worked on also over the same five months (and i was more focused on that one as it was my own original characters)4
regardless though, i do still like it, just wish it cane out better in the end lmao
will prolly post the full comic in a day or two :3

Summary of Le Morte D'Arthur by Thomas Mallory
Chapter I: How Uther Pendragon sent for the duke of Cornwall and Igraine his wife, and of their departing suddenly again. OR The Time Uther Pendragon started a war because he was horny When Uther Pendragon was king, he sent for the Duke of Cornwall to come visit him. He invited his wife, Igraine, as well because she was supposed to be hot. When they arrived, they were treated well and Uther decided that Igraine was indeed hot and wanted to sleep with her. Since she was, you know, married, she said no and then told her husband that she was pretty sure they had been invited just so the king could sleep with her. They decided to leave quickly and without telling anyone. This pissed the king off. The king’s advisors told him to summon the Duke and his wife again and if they didn’t come, then he would have a reason to declare war. He sent for them, they obviously didn’t return, and King Uther Pendragon declared war on the Duke of Cornwall, saying he would attack his biggest castle in 40 days time. The Duke decided to get two of his castles ready for war and put his wife in one while he stayed in the other. Uther attacked the castle that the Duke was in and a lot of people died. The king got such bad blue balls that it was noticeable to his knights and one of his knights, Ulfius, asked him what was up. Uther said he was so in love with Igraine that he’d gotten sick. Ulfius told him that Merlin would help him. Ulfius went off and found Merlin and Merlin said that he’d help as long as he got rewarded. Ulfius said that he was sure the king would reward him, so Merlin agreed to help.
Chapter II. How Uther Pendragon made war on the duke of Cornwall, and how by the mean of Merlin he lay by the duchess and gat Arthur OR How Uther and Merlin are the real villains here Ulfius brought Uther to Merlin. Merlin told Uther that he’d help him get laid on the condition that he get the child that he had with her. Uther agreed. Merlin told Uther to head to the other castle where Igraine was and that he would look like the Duke to everyone and his knights would look like the Duke’s knights. He said not to talk too much, but to just sleep with her and then stay in bed until he came by in the morning. After Uther left, but before he arrived at the other castle, the Duke was killed. Uther then slept with Igraine while she thought he was the Duke and impregnated her. The Merlin came by in the morning and Uther left with him. Later, Igraine learned her husband had died at the castle and started wondering who she had slept with then and mourned her now dead husband. With Ulfius as a messenger, it was arranged that Uther and Igraine get married. King Uther had King Lot marry Margawse who was Sir Gawaine’s mother. He also had King Nentres marry Elaine. They were sisters and the third sister was Morgan Le Fay who he sent to a nunnery where she became a necromancer. Later, she married King Uriens who was Sir Ewain’s father.
Chapter III: Of the birth of King Arthur and of his nurture OR Possibly the least believable bit so far Eventually it became really obvious Igraine was pregnant and Uther asked who’s kid it was. Igraine was embarrassed, but Uther said he just wanted the truth and wouldn’t judge her for it. Igraine told the story of how someone had impersonated her husband to sleep with her. Uther was like “Yeah, thanks for being truthful. That was me and Merlin told me to do it.” This apparently made Igraine happy, but I’m not sure I believe the author here. Merlin came by and claimed the kid like he said he would. Merlin gave the kid to Sir Ector, but had Sir Ector come to court for a while while Igraine was still pregnant so that Uther could see that his child would be in good hands. The king gave Sir Ector a bunch of nice stuff for raising his kid for him. When the child was born, he wrapped him in gold and then told some servants to take him to the poor man outside the castle. For some reason they actually did this and it was fine because the poor man was Merlin who then gave the kid to Sir Ector and they christened him Arthur.
Chapter IV: Of the death of King Uther Pendragon Less than two years later, Uther got sick. His enemies took advantage of his weakness and killed a bunch of his people. Merlin told him to get his ass up and to be taken to the battlefield to be there in person because that was the only way they could win. For some reason, this worked and they won. Uther lost his ability to speak three days later. Merlin said he couldn’t do anything about it because it’s God’s will, but he would make him speak tomorrow. The next morning, Merlin asked him if Arthur would be the next king and Uther replied saying that he would and then immediately died.
Chapter V. How Arthur was chosen king, and of wonders and marvels of a sword taken out of a stone by the said Arthur. Or How Arthur’s brother’s forgetfulness made Arthur king Obviously this created a power vacuum since Arthur was all of 2 and also no one knew where he was. Merlin made all of the lords and gentlemen of arms gather in London by Christmas by threatening to curse them if they didn’t show up. A bunch of religious stuff that doesn’t really matter in here, but after mass on Christmas they all go to see a giant stone with a sword stuck in it. Writing on the sword said “Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil, is rightwise king born of all England.” Everyone was suitably amazed by this. No one was allowed to touch it until high mass was done though. After that, a bunch of people tried to remove the sword, but no one was able. The Archbishop went “Well no one here is king, but God will make him show up eventually, so we’ll just set up a guard of knights for now.” On New Year’s Day they was a tourney and everyone figured that was when he would show up. On New Year’s Day, Sir Ector showed up for the tourney with his two sons, Sir Kay and Arthur. Sir Kay had forgotten his sword and asked Arthur to go get it for him. Arthur couldn’t get the sword because no one was home, so he decided to go get the sword he’d seen stuck in a stone for his brother. All of the knights were at the tourney, so he just pulled out the sword and brought it to Sir Kay. Sir Kay recognized it and immediately went to get Sir Ector. Sir Ector also recognized it and all three of them went back to the church. Sir Ector made Sir Kay swear on the bible where he’d gotten it and he told the truth that Arthur had given it to him. Arthur told his story of how he got it. Sir Ector basically went “Welp, I guess you’re king then.” Arthur was confused and didn’t think it was a big deal that he could move the sword, so Sir Ector had him put it back and then Sir Ector tried to move it and couldn’t.

Tumblr media
"Well, you aren't listening!" it was Elaine's face that stares back at him. It was some distorted version of his own voice that shouts. "I'm walking around!"
She had known about Mark's death long before anyone else. She'd talked about it with such carelessness in the same manner that good mornings were said. She had added his name to one of her logs. She had shown galahad first. He'd held her hand so she could pull the old thing from the moat and not worry about falling in. She had held the log up and said, quite plainly, " the poor man's been killed."
it was not long after that that Cornwall fell. The journey from Camelot to Tintagel was one that was meant to ease the Lady Igraine into her new home. To do that properly, Nimue needed to get there and pick up the pieces Mark's wife had left behind. From what Nimue had gathered, the Irish Queen had, at her husband's request, worked towards a cure for Duchess' madness.
it seemed a shame Isolde would never get to finish her work... but that death was a different story.
"I can't just magick a bridge back together!" she had though. In her fit of screaming at him, the bridge had begun to be rebuilt and fall back apart all at her unknowing whim. This was the kind of thing Merlin had wanted to teach her. This was the kind of thing she had begun to learn on the Isle, but in both cases, she preferred to run.
That future seemed to scare her most.
"I'm. Not. Going. In. I. Will. Drown." She said finally. "There has to be shallow water. Or no water. I'm not going."

The Matter of Britain
The story I wish to tell begins with Uther Pendragon, King of England. King Uther made war upon Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall for a slight against him, for his true lust was for Gorlois' wife, Lady Igraine.
Gorlois and Igraine were parents to three daughters: Morgana, Morgause, and Elaine.
On a night of battle, the wizard Merlin disguised Uther as Gorlois and spirited him to Igraine's bedchamber where he deceived her into bed. A child was conceived between them on the very night Gorlois was slain on the battlefield.
The child was named Arthur and whisked away to be raised in secret by Sir Ector. During this time, Igraine and Uther were wed. Her daughters were married to Uther's vassals: Morgana to King Urien, Morgause to King Lot, and Elaine to King Nentres.
When King Uther died, the sword Excalibur was set in a stone and anvil, with the declaration that whosoever pulled it out was the rightwise born King of all England.
Knowing Arthur's parentage, Morgause sought to conceive a child of royal lineage. She seduced her unknowing half-brother on the night before he pulled the sword. Thus Mordred was conceived.
Arthur did indeed pull the sword from the stone and was crowned King of England. Over time, he established a capital at Camelot, took Guinevere as his Queen, and established a Round Table of Knights. Closest to Arthur among them was Lancelot.
Unbeknownst to King Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere became secret lovers, betraying his trust twofold. This affair continued until a thirteenth knight was appointed to the table. Sir Mordred, now fully grown, joined their ranks.
The peace was not to last, for when Sir Mordred discovered the affair, he informed King Arthur, which caused him to make war upon Lancelot.
While the King was away fighting this civil war, Mordred seized the opportunity and declared himself High King in Arthur's stead.
Such a declaration forced Arthur to return to defend his crown and another civil war was fought, culminating in the battle of Camlann. It was in this battle Mordred was slain by Arthur and Arthur received mortal wounds from Mordred.

Hello! I just wanted to know: what happened to Elaine and Chloe from Leroux?
As you might know, Elaine and Chloe have been collaborators in the sphere since 2009, with their most successful project being The Heron Hotel in 2014, and their latest project being The Garden. It was announced by Garniers that she would be collaborating with the two on a Victorian fantasy project to be released this summer after she worked with them on the latter, released earlier this year.
While working on the early stages of House Rowan, the two were aiming to create something reminiscent of fairytales and the mystery novel The Forgotten Garden by author Kate Morton. House Rowan's original storyboard was completed in three weeks, including elements such as interdimensional thresholds and woodland magic, as told by close sources. Besides the obvious tone discrepancy between the initial and the final version of the project, it's rumored the location was supposed to be Cornwall, South West England, instead of The Lake District. These creative choices would never come to fruition as Elaine S. Caspien and Chloe DeRosier would disappear on February 17th, 2024, a week before going into production. Those close to the administrators claimed neither of them had any reasons to vanish, and they have been vocal about being suspicious of an incident that occurred shortly before Leroux's release on November 12th, 2023.
Elaine's youngest sister, Catrina Caspien, recounts the incident as a verbal disagreement between her and one of her production's investors. The investor in question was Alicia Faulker, a long-time friend of Chloe DeRosier's family and an opponent of Elaine's involvement in the project. She was, allegedly, in disagreement with the direction of the project and displeased by the release being moved from October 31st to November 12th, blaming Elaine for the delay. Although the families of the administrators were aware of this animosity, and have been hoping to link her to the disappearances of their daughters, Alicia Faulker has stated numerous times that the incident has been blown way out of proportion and she was simply looking out for the best interest of the project's investors.
After weeks of speculation such as the addition of the Augustus administrators—Claudia and Marcia—it would eventually be announced that the new administrators would be Emma and Marina. This new team would come up with the released version of House Rowan, changing the characters, locations, and tone of what Elaine and Chloe initially created. This would be described by Emma Hardcastle and Marina Carbone (administrator and co-administrator respectively) as a decision made out of respect for the vision and execution of their predecessors. The original version of House Rowan is now in the archive and will continue to be until there is news of Elaine and Chloe's whereabouts.

AHHHHHH THE BOOKS EVERR!!!! I'll reply under a cut but TL;DR is everyone should read these
Lancelot by Gwen Rowley
Gawain by Gwen Rowley
Lancey my friend Lancey....yes Gwen Rowley’s writing is a breeze to read it really pulls you in and carries you through the story. I found those two books extremely enjoyable and glad you did too! I’m biased to the Gawain book for obvious reasons lmao but I do love the Lancelot one too and love Gawain’s role in it. Him holding baby Galahad lives rent free in my head at all times. I do wish we had another book of Arthur/Guinevere or Tristan/Isolde :^( I would kill for those. Especially because….
The third book with Geraint/Enid is inferior in every way including the fact it has, literally, ONE character from the other two books and that’s just King Arthur himself for a few early chapters. Gawain, Ragnelle, Lancelot, Elaine, and all side characters are gone from the narrative as if they never existed??? Enid never even has girl time with Guinevere!!!! Geraint/Enid marry IN Camelot and it’s just King Arthur and a bunch of OCs. WHERE IS THE COURT??? It’s bullshit!!!! Most of the story takes place at the castle of Geraint’s dad, Erbin. Which also makes no sense because Erbin is king of Cornwall but Tristan, Isolde, and Dinadan are in the other two books so????? What? How can Isolde be Queen of Cornwall in the Lancelot book and then Erbin is King there in the Geraint book??? Make it make sense. The Lady of the Lake is in the introduction Enid chapter for two seconds to give her some dumb powers that cause a fight with Geraint later but that’s literally the extent of crossover/continuity. Every other knight or side character that Geraint or Enid meet is exclusive to that book and not even a fun tie-in to other lore the way Gromer turned out to be Launfal. There’s a kid named Lovell I tell myself is the son of Gawain and Ragnelle but he’s never actually stated to be, he’s just there. The whole book is such a brutal read honestly not even worth a hate read it’ll just sour the other two installments for you :^(
Anyway sorry I had to warn you it’s literally so bad lmao but as I said I’m sooo happy you enjoyed the books and I agree with all your take away pretty much!! Gwen Rowley wherever you are we love you!!
If any of you do end up reading Mordred: A Tragedy by Henry Newbolt….will you tag me?
