The residents of Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant must have gotten used to the rushing and clanging of the Long Island Railway in front of their houses, 1940s.

The Last Train to Jamaica: How NYC Almost Replaced Its Els
Image of Queensboro Plaza, twice as large as it is today, before unification. Undated. Image of Queensboro Plaza, twice as large as it is today, before unification. Undated. Image of Queensboro Plaza, twice as large as it is today, before unification. Undated. The New York City subway is famously made up of three formerly private railroads; three distinct networks that were planned to be…

Thinking about The Boring Company’s transport loops tick me off so much from an engineering standpoint. Just that it is basically just a road for electric cars (because gasoline cars would fill the tunnel with fumes)
Like gee. You want to reduce automobile traffic by building underground tunnels for electric vehicles? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO REDUCE AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC WITH UNDERGROUND TUNNELS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES?????
Tumblr media
OH YEAH. A TRAIN. NOT ROAD VEHICLES. Electric trains been around for a hundred and thirty years and nobody at The Boring Company asked why cities use these rather than building extensive underground taxi routes. Or, more likely, somebody did ask why, and Elon Musk had them demoted.
I think what ticks me off the most is that the vehicles they use unmodified Tesla Model 3′s. Because it makes it obvious that this is just about the tunnel. If you want to use road vehicles to travel directly place to place with no intersections, you can make an expressway with a turnaround at the end.
The core idea is just bad. Everything it tries to accomplish has been done before, and better. Underground electric mass transit has been done before. Car-based instant transit has been done before. They made a suckier version of the subway and had the audacity to appropriate the name “Loop” from Chicago’s Public El Trains.

always love when dc media portray Kara as more militaristic than Clark. It creates a nice contrast to her farm boy cousin.

YJ is not allowed on social media
Most capes have like an official hero social bc people just leave comments like ‘captain colds out again no class?? 👀’ instead of flagging down a hero or getting the police to get the nearest hero so most crimes are discovered through viral videos
And yj decides that they need to be on social media so they make ig and tiktok accounts which somehow led to them running a smear campaign against Lex while he was running for president
it’s mostly videos of Cassie in a superman onesie flying around pretending to save damsel in distress!Kon while Bart in an ill fitting bald cap is sitting behind a desk clearly made of cardboard as he mutters about how he’ll show everyone the truth and petting a picture of a cat with drawn on angry eyebrows then the video cuts to Bart way too close to the camera saying ‘A vote for Lex Luthor is a vote against happiness’ then the video ends with Cassie in the same superman onesie with a lightning bolt taped to the front of it claiming ‘this message was endorsed by captain marvel’ [a week later captain marvel makes a posts responding to the video in a captain marvel onesie reaffirming Cassie’s claim]

Manhattan was blighted for decades by elevated subway tracks running for miles along main thoroughfares. This is the Third Avenue El, or Bronx El, in midtown Manhattan, 1951, four years before it was torn down.

(The last one had like 3 movies that were not Dreamworks so I'm making one that's only Dreamworks, I picked the most iconic)
Don't forget to reblog to make a larger sample size!

MAWS 100% has my favorite iteration of Brainiac, no questions asked. Like I've never been a huge fan of him being a Kryptonian AI but this show sold me on the concept (I still prefer green man with skull ship but). His deliberate malice, his calculated manupulation of Kara. The fact that he told Clark to take his hand so he could show him "my Krypton" only to trick him into testing his strength. He put a block over the mural so that whoever gazed upon it would become a slave to the empire. His ideology of "strong" and "weak". The fact that Kandor is not a bustling city of remaining Kryptonians but instead a collection of souls in agony. He is cold and intentional with everything he does, a soulless machine that is all too human. He is Brainiac but with the virtues of Zod.
