“eir is a deadbeat mom” ❌ eir chose not to be anyone’s mother, which was absolutely within her rights. she is, however, someone who makes most of her choices out of shame & regret and denies herself the pursuit of joy & excellence she was once motivated by and made hard sacrifices for. she’s unpracticed at vulnerability & doesn’t value herself much, which can make her hard to love 👍
“kas is a flake/makes her crisis of faith your problem” ❌ kasmeer is one of dw’s most doggedly consistent, bright, and cautious members. she stuck by the commander during her crisis of faith, which she mostly suffered through in private, and dealt with by weaving her own safety net of community & spiritual/heroic work outside the guild, so she wouldn’t burden you, even though she’s your dear friend of many years. she is, however, a total monarchist in anise’s pocket 👍
Specifically characters where I've seen people say some weirdly antagonistic, out-of-pocket things on other peoples' posts and polls instead of just making their own hate post
Anet could have done SO much with the Destiny's Edge split-up. How to deal with toxic friendships, how to healthily respond to blame and guilt, how to distance yourself if necessary...
Not necessarily by PORTRAYING those things (DE is as dysfunctional as it gets), but by showing the opposite, the bad habits and thoughts we fall into.
The sheer contradiction of "I miss them but I'm glad they're gone."
Like those relationships were SO GOOD and then they got SO BAD and like. That should be talked about more.
Anyway there's another chapter of Reforging the Edge coming out today, so stay tuned!
What if the effects of the haze never fully went away for the commander?
What if every time they pass shopkeepers who sell fruit they swear they see Tybalt out of the corner of their eye. What if every time they hear a woman laughing they hear Sieran, or someone touches their shoulder they can hear him talking to them for a moment, or what if every time someone looks at them a bit too long, with a bit too much emotion they can feel Trahearne staring at them, begging them to kill him.
What if every time they pass by a statue for a moment they can hear Eir humming as she chips away.
What if in the dark of the night, when its a bit too peaceful, a bit too quiet, The Commander can still hear Almorra's taunting remarks and snickering laughter?
It never lasts more than a split second, so The Commander never tells anyone, and when their friends ask they if they're okay, they just brush it off as they didn't get enough sleep that day.
But...
What if the demon has its claws deeper in The Commander than anyone knows?
Me thinking about how Braham loves Eir so much. He will never give up her memory, or her legacy. He is Braham Eirsson, and he will never let you forget it. Even after she gave him up to lead her own life, he loves her. He saw how selfless she was. He watched her die to save people.
Oh no, there is a Rytlogan story itching beneath my nails for a few days now... throwing a few snippets at ya: AU - no Dragons (but Sylvari still exist - how? - because I said so); human race enslaved not just by Centaurs and Krait, but by Charr as well; Asura did not stop experimenting on Sylvari side-plot; Destiny's Edge era (except they all meet under different circumstances)
main plot, but without trying to tell you too much: Ascalon.
