Episode 40 - The Four Eevee Brothers

You know, the fact that Ash is running into Porygon and Eevee now really just confirms my earlier assertion that, having crossed Route 17 the wrong direction, he's back in the area surrounding Celadon.

This episode takes Ash to Stone Town, a village at the base of Evolution Mountain, where evolution stones come from. Presumably this is where the Celadon Department Store gets its stock.

It's basically the Lt. Surge episode again. Three brothers who both own and represent each of the three Eeveelutions are pressuring their little brother to pick a form to evolve his Eevee into, but he likes Eevee just the way they are.

The brothers say the same thing as Surge: Definitely make sure to evolve your Pokemon as soon as possible. Though with Eevee, that's sound advice, actually. While most G1 Pokemon stop learning moves after Stone Evolution, Eevee is the exception. Waiting too long to evolve Eevee can lead to missing out on important moves.

This means that, tactically, the brothers are actually in the right here. But none of that matters because Taichi/Mikey isn't trying to raise a competitive Pokemon. He just wants to have a cute Eevee pet. His brothers are being obnoxious tryhards.

Of course, that said, the Pikachu/Raichu logic does still technically apply, which Mikey takes advantage of in the inevitable Rocket match. It's understated, but Mikey shows Eevee's worth by finishing off the battered Team Rocket using Take Down, a move that falls off their level-up learnset if they evolve.

The video starts with a wide establishing shot showing Nyarth (Meowth) and Sonasu (Wobbuffet) from Team Rocket preparing food for Eevee and friends, and then closes in tighter to focus on Nyarth/Meowth.

Meowth is kneading and tossing dough like you would for a pizza crust. As he does this, he is cheerfully singing a little song to himself based on his name and his infatuation with the eeveelutions. The lyrics also incorporate his unique accent and lisp.

The lyrics to his song as he tosses dough are :

''Oh, the 'nyar' in 'Nyarth' stands for 'nyarturally cool and handsome housekeeper' !

And the 'th' in 'Nyarth' stands for 'thweet thuper hunk of a chef' !''

It cuts off as he over-tosses the dough and loses control as it becomes too big and subsequently falls on him, enveloping him completely.
