Srry I dont know if this is spoilers, but what would the Season 2 Finale be like in Canary Continuity? Would anything be super different?
its simultaneously both a spoiler and not, because there's some stuff about ninpo in CW that's spoilers so i cant go over it yet. NEEDLESS TO SAY they will already know about it (trying to phrase this in a way that doesnt give anything away), so im not sure how the emotional core would really be with raph, considering spoilers spoilers they dont rlly have to "unlock" it when theyre already so knowledgeable. all i can say with that. im pretty sure everything else would be closer to canon, albeit with a lot more intensity because everything's hardened them quite a bit (theyre still HORRENDOUSLY silly, its a rise classic, but when it comes to important battle there's less fucking around, and they watch out for each other a lot more, especially with donnie who's going to struggle on the field despise his insistence otherwise. i think the way they approach the shredder would be WILDLY different.)
HOWEVER
i think losing the old lair is going to be less traumatic and a lot more cathartic. i wouldnt kill off shelldon because ive been cruel enough, donnie would probably just have to rebuild him. theyd look at the rubble of their former home and finally breathe.
its scary to have to go through the rubble and salvage what they can. its the loss of a lot of childhood memories, and change is hard. but fuck, that place was a HELLHOLE of bad memories for all of them. i think they'd jump at the excuse to move, despite having to leave a lot behind and having to rebuild. unlike CU i think the process would be a little slower and everyone would be helping out to the best of their ability, and it would genuinely just be... healing. it's a group project. donnie didn't even realize before this point how much weight being in the old lair put on his chest until he felt the relief of it gone. they have a chance to rebuild, and while its still an adjustment, it's happier. being in the old environment is definitely a contributor to his anxiety NOW in cw, mind you.
i think what you should worry about is the movie. not something i'll ever be touching but think about how raph would react after the fact to beating up and choking leo while kraangified. that is all.

Turning positive traits negative
here are some options you can use to make more complex, real characters
—Optimistic
Refuses to get serious about certain subjects, mocks those who don’t always share their positive viewpoints, says stuff like “if you’re depressed, just be happy 😃”
—Neat
Can’t handle their space being in any other condition, very preoccupied with how they appear rather than how they behave, can’t hold back their tongue if there’s a sock out of place in a friend’s bedroom
—Open
Some things don’t need to be said. They say those things. Every other sentence.
—Effective
Very mission oriented not ‘care about people’s feelings’ oriented. One of those co-workers who makes everyone look bad because they come in early and stay late so everyone kind of already doesn’t like them.
—Leadership
Doesn’t let anyone else take the wheel, as well as controlling when the situation doesn’t require it. Also could be someone who demands praise for their work as well as always being seen as number 1 (could be a cult leader).
—Honest
The type who tells the truth when you show off a new outfit and you ask for their opinion. Believes that fact is greater than feelings and it will get many people mad very, very quickly.
-Wholesome/innocent
Drags other people down to make them feel ‘dirty’ because of the life they lead. Knows that asking people about certain subject matters may make them uncomfortable, but does it anyways to show off just how 🧚🏻‍♀️💕pure🧚🏻‍♀️💕 they are. If you’re struggling with this, watch a bit of those tradwives videos (keep in mind, not the normal ones minding their own business.)
—Imaginative
Comes up with the WORST, most horrific, terrible fates for everyone. Gets really defensive/rude over their work. Thinks that they’re the next big thing in whatever field they’re working in.
—Selfless
Instantly throws themselves in front of danger and doesn’t think about the consequences of their own actions. Could fall victim to situations where they’re forced to take the fall every time while someone else walks right over them.
—Confidence
Can lead to selfishness, over abundance of pride, stubbornness and unwilling to admit wrong doings/beliefs/actions.
—Extroversion
Unable to understand proper boundaries that others have set, tries to bring people out of their comfort zone even when unnecessary, rude.
—Intelligence
One of those nerds that every class has that reminds the teacher of the homework, looks down on those less intelligent and doesn’t care of the social/economical/personal reasons as to why they don’t share the same intellect, prideful.
—Kindness
Nativity, allows the wrong people to walk free, toxic positivity, doesn’t want to understand how some people may just be evil, leading the team into multiple dangerous, avoidable situations.
—Romantic
‘Doesn’t take no for an answer’, makes people uncomfortable, overwhelms people with fantasies of romantic dinners/adventures despite it still being the first date, moves too fast for their love interest.

https://www.fastcompany.com/90889985/new-research-reveals-critiques-holding-women-back-from-leadership-that-most-men-will-never-hear
A recent study of the 33 biggest multilateral institutions found that of 382 leaders in their history only 47 have been women. And the percentage of women running Fortune 500 companies has only just recently crested a meager 10%.
As researchers we wondered why institutions consistently fail to promote women to top jobs. Our recent study of 913 women leaders from four female-dominated industries in the U.S. (higher education, faith-based nonprofits, law, and healthcare) sheds light on this pernicious problem. As we found, there’s always a reason why women are “never quite right” for leadership roles.
Women are criticized so often and on so many things that they are acculturated to receiving such disparagement, taking it seriously, and working to make improvements. And any individual woman may take it personally, believing the criticism directed at her to be warranted.
But our research reveals that the problem lies elsewhere. Virtually any characteristic can be leveraged against a woman in a discriminatory fashion. Such criticisms often relate to facets of women’s identity in an overt or subtle way, such as race, age, parental status, attractiveness, and physical ability.
Effectively, the surface-level critique functions as a “red herring,” distracting from the inherent gender bias driving the encounter. This type of treatment is so common that we have called it “we want what you aren’t” discrimination.
More specifically, our research revealed 30 different characteristics and qualities of a woman’s identity that emerged as points of criticism creating barriers to women’s success. The clear message to women is that—whatever they are—they are “never quite right.”
Age was a consistent challenge for women leaders in our study. Some of our respondents reported being considered too young to lead, while others indicated being too old hindered them from advancing.
However, being middle-aged didn’t help women’s career prospects either. A physician shared: “I am middle-aged, and men my age are seen as mature leaders and women my age as old.”
Parental status—having children or being childless—emerged as another point of criticism. A higher-education leader described how people assume she “can’t take on a bigger role ‘because of the kids,’” which made her feel that she needed “to work extra hard” to show that she could be both a dedicated mother and a leader.
On the other hand, a childless physician was expected to “work harder/more, accomplish more” than other female colleagues. Mothers were also bypassed for career opportunities, as happened to a single divorced lawyer who was the mother of preschoolers, “due to a perception by my male bosses that I cannot or should not handle [larger matters].”
Likewise, pregnancy was problematic, particularly for lawyers in our study. There was doubt that women would come back to work after maternity leave. Some were no longer given good assignments, while others were forced to quit private practice or work part time. One lawyer described the loss of confidence from bosses:
“Once you are pregnant or trying to have kids, the way management views you deteriorates. The opposite thing happens for male coworkers. I’ve seen it in so many law firms it’s impossible to argue it was just coincidence or based on merit.”
Simply planning on having kids was enough to invoke bias. A woman in higher education reported being denied promotion because she would need maternity leave for hypothetical future children.
Women of color were targets of subtle bias. An African American faith-based leader described being “invisible” and regularly “talked over” by white men. A Native American higher-education executive described being misperceived as weak, “when in fact we are practicing ‘respect’ for ourselves and others.” And a Filipina physician described facing role incredulity, as people assumed that she was “a nurse, and not a doctor and a division chief at that.”
Even physical ability and health played into the women’s experiences. Physical disabilities led to assumptions of not being capable. One higher-education leader who uses a crutch was questioned by men about the way she walks and has been told “to hide my cane, especially for photographs,” as she said.
Regarding health, there were double standards around the way men and women with illnesses were treated. A physician developed ovarian cancer while serving as an officer in the public health service. She explained, “The plan was to discharge me . . . even though men with prostate cancer didn’t have to go through that.”
The women leaders in our study were considered too young or too old. They were too short or too tall, too pretty or too unattractive or too heavy. They had too much education or not enough or their degrees were not from the “right” schools. They suffered from disrespect and misperceptions due to race, color, or ethnicity. Whether they had children or were childless, the women were expected to work harder than men to prove their worth. Women were held back from leadership opportunities due to being single, married, or divorced. There was no personality trait sweet spot, as introverted women were not seen as leaders and extraverted women were viewed as aggressive. The effect, then, means women leaders are “never quite right.”
Organizations that fail to promote and support women in their top roles miss out on performance gains. Fortunately, there are concrete steps that organizational leaders, allies, and individual women can take to mitigate this “never quite right” bias, aiding women’s workplace advancement.
“Flip it to test it”
Leaders can be particularly effective in thwarting sexist criticisms toward women. It’s not about changing the behavior of women—who are the recipients of the unfair treatment—but it is about changing the behaviors of those who justify their actions as somehow merited. Many criticisms fail the “flip it to test it” method miserably. Ask yourself, would the following statements ever be said about a man?
He needs to smile more.
Men are going to have kids and not want to work.
Since Larry has prostate cancer, he can no longer fulfill his job duties.
The clear answer is no. Leaders can infuse awareness of this simple, yet effective, tool to reduce such bias-laden criticisms. And workplace allies can help stop unfair criticism of women by calling it out.
Constructive career-enhancing feedback
Women are almost one and a half times more likely to receive negative feedback that is subjective rather than constructive and objective feedback. Men are often given a clearer idea of where they excel and opportunities for improvement whereas women are given vague feedback that often focuses on qualities like communication style. Even when using formal performance evaluation rubrics, a disparity remains.
Developmental feedback to women focuses on operational tasks, coping with politics, developing resilience, being cooperative, and building confidence. Developmental feedback to men focuses on setting a vision, leveraging power and politics, being assertive, and displaying confidence. Leaders can reduce the gender-biased framing by encouraging all employees to develop both sets of skills.
Do not take it personally
For individual women, hear us when we say, “It’s not you.” We women are conditioned to accept feedback and internalize it as something to “fix” about ourselves. If you are criticized, consider whether it is objective, constructive, and warranted. Disregard identity-based criticisms that are part of a larger pattern of bias against women.
Our research demonstrates that practically any characteristic can be proclaimed problematic for a woman leader to question her competence and suitability for leadership. It takes deliberate effort, but we can turn the message to women from “We want what you aren’t” into “We want what you are.” Doing so will advance women in the workplace and profit the entire organization.

The repeated use of the specific word imperialism in fandom discussions of TotK really bugs me because like… we know what imperialism looks like, right?
Genocide either by murder or assimilation, leadership that is either of the conquering race or loyal to it generally for personal gain, control of the conquered’s resources, and a social climate where the conquerors are considered superior.
But in this Hyrule none of the other races had their cultures erased, they aren’t governed by Hylian leaders and the local leaders’ first priority is taking care of their people, they manage their own trade affairs, and Hylians don’t constantly subject others to put downs about their race.
If a Hylian man dares enter Gerudo Town without the Chief’s permission, they kick him out or put him in jail. That’s how much control the Gerudo have over their own territory and how little being a Hylian matters if you mess with them.
Rauru is accused of hoarding power but he literally gave his secret stones out to the other races and they remain in possession of them to this day.
Basically the only time the other nations seem to actually follow Hyrule’s lead at all is when facing common threats or working towards common goals. Hyrule only ever meddles in other lands affairs either to lend them aid (Link and Zelda fighting for everyone, the folks at Tabantha Bridge Stable providing disaster releif to the Rito, etc.) or requesting aid from them (Rauru and Zelda asking the Sages and Champions to help them fight Ganon[dorf].) They lead like a team leader leads.
Sonia and Rauru didn’t found an empire.
Tumblr media
They founded an alliance.
I know I’m beating a dead horse here but to my eyes at least (for now) there is zero solid evidence of Hyrule exerting control over the daily lives of non-Hylians or stealing their resources, two major defining traits of imperialistic rule. Hyrule is at the head of the alliance, yes, but an empire isn’t the only system of governance that has one group or individual at the helm of a coalition. The difference is in the details and the details here are that Hyrule leads the others but it does not dominate them, and that is key.
The only empire in the game would have been the one Ganondorf was trying to force on everyone and that was pretty bluntly depicted as being a bad thing. How can we say it’s pro-imperialistic if the main conflict is preventing the rise of an evil empire?
You can’t effectively analyze a narrative by completely ignoring everything about it and its meta that contradicts a knee-jerk viewpoint. What is even the point of analyzing it at all at that point?

Umemiya: the leader
Tumblr media
Hajime Umemiya is a great example of a well-written leader. I find his character to be quite reminiscent of Lemillion from MHA and Rengoku from Demon Slayer personality-wise, two other characters that I absolutely love due to their passion, strength, sense of duty , integrity and overall kind and heroic natures. He has most - if not all -the traits that I believe make a true leader.
He had a vision - the clear and inspiring goal to unite Furin High School and use their strength for the good of the community. A noble vision for the future that helped set a direction and motivate those who followed him. He saw the bigger picture and guided everyone towards it.
He has integrity - honesty, transparency, and ethical behavior build trust within a team. Him acting with with integrity inspires loyalty and respect, and he serves as role models for others like how we see with Sugishita.
He’s empathetic - A good leader is attentive to the needs, emotions, and perspectives of their team members. Empathy fosters a supportive and inclusive environment, making people feel valued and understood. This is especially clear im instances such as when he worries over Hiragi’s stomach issues or when letting Hiragi know that when he was ready to talk, he [Ume] would be waiting after Hiragi’s fight against Sako.
He’s a great communicator - leaders are clear and open communicators, ensuring everyone understands goals, expectations, and changes. We often see him also listening actively and valuing the opinions of others.
He takes accountability - a clear example was taking the blame for putting Sugishita and Sakura (two hotheads) together under Hiragi which ultimately led to the issues with Shishitoren. He takes responsibility for his part in the situation. This action tends to encourage others to do the same building a culture of accountability and ownership within the team
He empowers those around him - A strong leader delegates effectively, trusts his team, and encourages growth and autonomy. By empowering others, leaders foster confidence and this is something we see, not only him, but his Four Kings (or rather in this case, Hiragi only, since I've only seen the anime) do as well.
He’s humble - recognizing that leadership is about serving others, not about personal gain. He often acknowledges his own limitations and is openness to learn. Never putting himself above anyone.
Long story short, he is the embodiment of proper leadership and I can't wait to learn more about his journey to the top.

Hi Mark,
My name is Isaac Holguin. I sent a detailed email regarding your work on the color pie over the years to [email protected]. I hope that is the correct avenue to reach out to you. I had the pleasure of being answered on this blog as well, so I thought I'd double check by contacting you here. In case the email listed isn't in service anymore, I've copied my message below. I hope this reaches you and that you're doing well. If you're able, I'd love to hear back at [email protected]. Thanks for all you do!
----------
Hello Mr. Rosewater,
My name is Isaac Holguin and I'm a nurse studying leadership and education in Tucson, Arizona. Before I get into the topic of my email, I'd just like to say thank you for being a spokesperson for Magic the Gathering all these years! I've played the game since I was thirteen years old, all through college, and well into my career. Magic the Gathering has helped me make new friends and deepen bonds with people I already had in my life. Though I've stopped participating in recent years, the game will always hold a special place in my heart and I've still got an Alpha Serra Angel that is as old as I am!
One of the best memories I have from my time with Magic was diving into the color wheel breakdown series from your "Drive to Work" podcast. During my pursuit of a Bachelors in Nursing Science, I often cited the color wheel as a tool to determine personality traits and compared it to other topics in my studies. Now that I'm pursuing my Master's degree in Nursing Education, I'm interested to see if there were any references or inspirations for the development of the color pie. With the recent popularity of the Myers-Briggs assessment (16 Personalities), Ten Faces of Innovation, and other similar tools I'd like to try and adapt the color pie as a leadership/personality assessment. I understand there will be multiple steps involved to publish such a study with respect to Hasbro and Magic the Gathering as a company, but I would like to attempt to lay the foundation of this project during my studies.
The goal of this project would be to introduce an existing, incredible, fun, and easy to use tool to a vast new audience. Helping others acknowledge that all aspects of the personalities presented exist within them to some degree and can evolve over time has become a core belief for me both personally and professionally. Examples of "your greatest weakness is your greatest strength pushed too far" and the idea that the capacity for good and evil exists in any aspect of a personality are incredible insights that I haven't seen cited enough throughout my studies. My wildest hope is that this tool would be utilized in coursework for multiple professions, similar to the curriculum I'm studying now, to help future leaders reflect on their strengths and develop effective leadership styles.
In short, I hope that you're doing well and would love to hear your insights, recommendations, and references for the work you've so passionately brought to thousands of others of the years. Even if you're unable to share certain aspects of your work, I'd like you to know that your endeavors have not only brought relief and happiness to healthcare workers like me, but that you've inspired so many others to apply the lessons of fictional works to improve our reality. The lessons gained from my long history with this franchise have helped me connect to others in their most vulnerable moments, and improve their quality of life. Thank you for all that you've done, and I wish you continued success in a field you've already become an exemplary expert in.
Sincerely,
Isaac Holguin
BSN, RN
I’m always excited to hear about ways people can use the color pie outside the context of the game. I’m not sure what I can do to help you.

Writing a Female Character? Keep These Tips in Mind!
Tumblr media
Messy is GOOD: In a world where everyone seems to want to write a demure and mindful woman, or a put-together gunslinging “not like other girls” badass, do us a solid and show us the messy girls. Show us the girls who are god awful at coping with their trauma. Show us the girls who are fucking trainwrecks in their daily lives. Show us the girls going through it, and going through it poorly.
Don’t dumb down your male characters to match her freak: I don’t know who needs to hear this, but PSA—making your male characters seem stupid in comparison to your female character doesn’t do any favors for her or your narrative. Dumbing down other characters for her sake might have the opposite effect of what your intentions are. There is nothing wrong with writing a smart woman alongside smart men. In my humble opinion, it makes for better storytelling when everyone is on the same page.
If you would do it for a male character, do it for your female characters: This is something I don’t think I need to explain, but I’m going to do it anyway. If you have a male character, and you go through the hoops of defining his goals, establishing his emotional depth, giving him his deep-set purpose in the story, developing his relationships with other characters, etc., then guess what? You can do those same things for a female character. The only difference between them is their gender, but both sides are equally as capable of being nuanced. This also applies to actually writing the exposition. Would you spend 6 paragraphs describing the figure of a male character? Or focus so heavily his physical traits that they start to define his character? If not, then don’t do it for your females!
Gender roles can get fucked: Of course, if your intent is to write a story with more “traditional” gender roles for whatever your reasoning is, more power to you. But if not, they hold no power over you, your story, or your fictional ladies. If the plot allows it, find ways to venture outside those societal norms, whether that’s in the way your female character thinks or acts, or what her occupation is, etc.
Strong female lead =/= emotionless, tough, “badass”: When a lot of people think of a “strong female lead,” they think of women who seem to defy the traditional female role in a story. As a result, you usually end up with these hardcore gals who appear to be written as a sort of an antithesis of what society thinks are “feminine traits,” with emphasis on how little emotion she shows, how “tough” she is, and how she overtakes every situation she’s in. These are NOT bad traits to put in a woman; not by a long shot. But the best characters are nuanced—she’s not always going to be in a state of low-emotion toughness. She’s not always going to be this perfect beacon of leadership. She’s going to have lapses in judgement. She’s going to make mistakes. She’s going to grow and change, just like all people do. And that doesn’t subtract from her being a “badass.” Women are fully capable of being “badasses” while working through mistakes, hitting their lows, or showcasing some vulnerability.
Remember her agency: I said previously that you shouldn’t be dumbing down male characters to bolster her, but that’s not an excuse to wreck her agency in the story. Her decisions within the plot should still matter, and they shouldn’t be entirely based around or influenced by other characters just for the hell of it. Not everything she does needs to be for someone else; she is her own person, with her own reasons and goals behind her choices.

EVERY PLANET AND THEIR VEDIC ASPECTS
Drishti is a term used in Vedic astrology to describe the planetary aspects or casts that planets have on specific houses or other planets in the birth chart. These factors are thought to be important in interpreting the overall dynamics of a person's life. In Vedic astrology, there are various sorts of drishtis, and each planet has its own set of aspects. The principal drishtis linked with each planet are as follows ↴
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
images are not mine
𝖘𝖚𝖓 ❂- aspects 7th house away from its self
✴ While the Sun represents originality, vitality, and leadership, its aspect on the 7th house denotes an emphasis on connections and a need for recognition in the framework of partnerships.
So when studying the sun and the house that it is in, inspect the 7th house away from the house that the sun is in (house opposite).
EXAMPLE- say you have your sun in the 4th house, the sun will have an effect on the 10th house. Therefore not only will the individual have a strong emphasis with family roots, traditions etc (unless afflicted) but with the aspect with the 10th house it will expand this and can tell us that the individual might have a connection with family business, or the individuals family is a huge part of their career or success. Their individuality and leadership may come from their family traditions etc etc. (unless afflicted).
𝖒𝖔𝖔𝖓 ☽ - aspects the 7th house away from its self
✴ The Moon's aspect extends to the house in the birth chart that is directly opposite its position. This indicates that the Moon has an impact on the house opposite the one it is in.
EXAMPLE- if moon is in 12th house, the moon will have an affect on the 6th house. Not only will the moon will aspire 12th house characteristic (isolation, dreams, imagination) the moon (ruling emotions, comfort, intuition) will influence the 6th house (mental health, daily routines, pets also.)
𝖒𝖆𝖗𝖘 ♂ - aspects 4th, 7th and 8th house away from its self
✴ Mars is a fiery and driven planet that represents energy, determination, and ambition. It governs bravery, self-assurance, and the ability to take the initiative.
While looking at mars in the natal chart, the houses that its aspect will give a deeper insight and extension of what you are looking for.
EXAMPLE- if mars is in 2nd house (of voice, stability) in your chart, mars will have an influence on the 5th (fun, confidence), 7th (equality, business) and 8th (sexuality, inheritance) house in your chart.
𝖒𝖊𝖗𝖈𝖚𝖗𝖞 ☿ - aspects 7th and 4th house away from itself
✴ Mercury rules communication, intellect, and analytical thought. It symbolises logical and sensible cognitive processes, learning, and the capacity to successfully articulate oneself.
These characteristics of mercury will also influence its aspects.
EXAMPLE- if mercury is in the 8th house (of taboo, occult), it will have relations to the 2nd house (food, ethics) and the 11th house (groups, internet).
𝖏𝖚𝖕𝖎𝖙𝖊𝖗 ♃ - aspects the 5th, 7th and 9th house away from itself
✴ Jupiter is the planet of growth, intelligence, and beneficence. It symbolises greater learning, philosophy, morals, and guidance.
The influence of jupiter will occur in its drishti aspects also along with the house that its in.
EXAMPLE- if jupiter is in 10th house (career, recognition) in your natal chart. jupiter will bring luck and its other influence to the 2nd (voice, income), 4th (foundations, mother) and 6th house (service to others, hygiene) in their chart.
𝖛𝖊𝖓𝖚𝖘 ♀ - aspects the 7th house away from itself
✴ Venus represents love, beauty, art, and aesthetics. It influences romantic relationships and the appreciation of harmony.
When studying venus's traits, the drishti aspect will accommodate deeper to what you are looking into.
EXAMPLE- if venus is in 9th house (education, religion), venus will also project onto the 3rd house (sibling, writing). The individual might love to learn new religions or may love learning in general, with that they may love writing and hanging out and socialise in foreign land. They may travel a lot to visit their siblings or cousins as such. (keep in mind that afflicted placement matter and may change the interpretation).
𝖘𝖆𝖙𝖚𝖗𝖓 ♄ - aspects the 3rd, 7th and 10th house away from itself
✴ Saturn is the planet of structure, discipline, duty, and hard work. It governs time, constraints, and the lessons learnt from life events. Saturn is a naturally malefic planet, but its powers can also bring about maturity and wisdom.
When looking into karma or such (ruled by saturn) the houses in which the aspects are in will also influence that area of your life. Think of it like an extension. The aspects give extended information.
EXAMPLE- saturn in 8th house (transformation, spirituality) in your chart will aspect the 10th (profession, achievement recognition), 2nd (wealth, values) and 5th house (creativity, romance).
𝖗𝖆𝖍𝖚 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖐𝖊𝖙𝖚 - don't have their own aspects, however they take on the aspects in the planet that they are conjunct with.
If anyone has any questions about this don't be afraid to send an ask.
That is all my loveliesss 🌸
Thank you so much for reading this. ♠️
If you have any notes for me i would really appreciate it. (i am always learning) ꕤ
