IELTS is Necessary
Tumblr media
IELTS is often necessary for studying abroad, especially in English-speaking countries. Many universities and visa processes require proof of English proficiency, and IELTS is a widely accepted test for this purpose. While some institutions may accept alternative tests, checking specific requirements is crucial. Meeting language proficiency standards is essential for admission and academic success. Exemptions may apply based on prior education in English or if it's the applicant's first language. Additionally, considering IELTS Coaching can be beneficial to enhance preparation and performance in the test. Oh here’s those stupid doodles I was talking about the other day. They reside on my abnormal psychology notes.

(For people who aren’t deep into neuroscience, or just don’t remember, the frontal lobe holds a person’s personality while the Hippocampus is memory. So basically he’s saying he has a great personality.)
And here’s them on the actual notes:

I'm a strong "percy would get a job in education/outreach to underprivileged kids in the future" truther but I don't necessarily agree with people who say that him taking on marine biology as a college major doesn't make sense at all
"why would he study marine biology he can already work with sea animals to his heart's desire" I don't know maybe because he wants to get paid???????? he wants a normal job???? percy grew up poor and unsafe. why is it weird that he craves stability with a career that enables him to do something that he loves? or maybe he wants to go into the system and help bring about lasting reform that will actually improve care for sea creatures??? yes he can save sea animals on his own time but think about it. is it better to abandon his life in the middle of the night to go help a trapped sea creature Every Single Time it happens or is it better to enter the system and make it so that capitalists stop polluting water or disturbing sea ecosystems for profit. his powers as a son of poseidon are a band-aid not a lasting solution to systemic environmental neglect and decay. he has an established precedent of caring for bringing about systemic change (see: turning down immortality) and for me this is no different (I just personally headcanon him wanting to bring change for disadvantaged kids but whatever)
to me this logic is like telling an exceptional artist that there's no point in going to art school to become a professional when they can already just do art on their own time for fun. like yeah....... if you're content with doing that as just a hobby. but what if you want to become an even better artist and learn new skills. what if you want to do it as a job that pays you and gives you health insurance and social security. then what
for me the main logistical issue of him majoring in marine biology has never been that he would never do that it's that the intersection of new rome college accreditation to the Actual Real world isn't all that clear/logistically sound. like I guess the mist can handle anything but what impact is new rome going to be able to have on the realm of mortals. this would be a nice thing to discuss actually (more in tags)

I really need to tell my aunt I’m autistic. I started a co-counseling class with her I really like the other two women in the class. I’m notably the youngest (all my aunts generation) but we are all very open minded liberal activist love the arts being creative plants astrology etc etc. I would put big money on all four of us being some type of neurodivergent.
Anyway every session I filter myself alluding to being autistic and I need to stop because the point is not to filter. It’s time. I don’t know if I would rather do it in a season (defined roles which I love but leaves me wondering what she’s thinking the whole time) or in regular conversation (no defined roles but I get to hear genuine thoughts and questions.) Also do I want to tell just my aunt initially or all three of them at once like ripping off a bandaid? Also do I bring up adhd? Which I am clinically diagnosed with? Should I start from square 1 w the whole backstory of how I got here, or dive right in the deep end and go back from there?
I think the part I’m most anxious about is explaining the concept of self diagnosis. I hate defending my diagnosis. I hate adding the caveat “if a doctor labeled me allistic I would laugh in their face and make fun of their career choice.” I hate having to explain how common it is to be overlook/dismissed because you’re a girl and you made eye contact or smiled or sat still or communicated adequately or masked too much
I’m certain she’ll be outright positive and supportive I’m just worried she might miss the mark in doing so. I’m worried she’ll try to be supportive by saying something like “nooo I think you’re being too hard on yourself give yourself a little credit” or “so cool that it’s hardly noticeable at least” or “don’t worry that doesn’t make you lesser than, you’re just like everyone else!” Or any of that well meaning toxic positivity crap that allistics always rely on
Anyway if any self diagnosed autistics have tips from their own experiences explaining to family/whoever, I’d love to hear. Either way thanks for reading this far if you did. Wish me luck I guess 🥸

the teacher here is absolute ASS and it's not like I'm super passionate about engineering anyway. I mean idc about medical either but at least they have a somewhat responsible teacher this one doesn't know jack SHIT.
I'm starting to think I only ever liked engineering bc i had a fun teacher last year. and that was it.
but also I'm too lazy to go thru all the trouble of switching classes. but also. it would be better than spending 4 yrs with an insufferable teacher doing shit I don't give a damn about.
graphic design is last resort btw bc it doesn't rlly interest me either but it also offers like 3 jobs in the entire country. so.
they also offer law enforcement but there's no way I'm becoming a cop no thx

Mulling over something right now.
My journey into understanding neurodivergence and my own AuDHD-ness has changed how I doctor, and sometimes I can see this when looking at things like auto text scripts I set up previously.
For example, when it comes to picky eaters, I used to do a lot of education about how to get kids to eat, discussing strategies like gamifying intake of fruits and vegetables, enforcing #-bite rules, and having cutoff times for meals. I also put a lot more weight on having a balanced, whole-food meal. The only thing I discussed that was focused on any underlying reason was involving kids in meal prep, though I didn't necessarily have a reason as to why. And, to be fair, these strategies work for picky, NT toddlers.
Contrast that to today, where I'm asking questions about texture sensitivities and taste preferences. I'm acknowledging that processed foods are more predictable than fresh. I'm discussing meal prep involvement as a means of sensory food play. I'm discussing about how stressful #-bite requirements can be and I'm encouraging having safe foods available and permissable - not as a means of giving in, but to make trying a new food less stressful. I'm also acknowledging that some food is better than no food, as long as we get the basics/macros in as we can always supplement micros with multivitamins.
These are things that weren't taught when I was in medical school or residency. I attended in 2015, just after the DSM changes and the focus then was, and largely still is, eating a "well-rounded", normativized, white, upper-middle class diet. Anything other than that was treated as subpar and is bad medicine, let alone parenting.
You know the other thing? When I started asking, do you know how many of my picky eaters DIDN'T have some kind of sensory basis to their eating patterns? Do you know just how many undiagnosed, unseen neurodivergent kids are out there, masking along, not making waves, with equally ND parents who don't know otherwise?
The number of times I see at least one parent squirm when I start asking the kids, especially older kids, autism symptom questions and autism distinct anxiety questions... Why, if I had a nickel for every time, I would definitely have more than two. It's not a coincidence.

Should I use this astrology blog for a passion project to get into graduate school in 2 years?
I am also going back & forth between a Masters in Mental Health Counseling, Adolescent Education (7-12), or Environmental Geology. I’m indecisive and although I have two years left I rather just know what to do lol. 💗 (I’m currently a psychology major with a minor in professional writing)
I know this post is random but it’s been on my mind so if you guys can help with deciding then that would be awesome & will work on some future astrology stuff soon🤍

Debunking of myths about Mental Health
Today, October 10th is an important day for all of us as it's considered as World Mental Health Day. On this occasion, I would like to create awareness as a psychologist about some myths about mental health to reduce the stigma and stereotypes around us. Even in workplace, mental health and its issues are not considered as a problem at all and still expects the affected person to work without understanding and zero compassion but would it be same if one is affected by any physical illness? The answer is NO right.
                                - Deepika Padukone
People talk about physical fitness, but mental health is equally important. I see people suffering, and their families feel a sense of shame about it, which doesn't help. One needs support and understanding.
Many people around us might understand our emotional turmoil and extend their support but if people fail to understand others, one will not open up their problems to anyone and hence shuts their self that leads to more struggles and sufferings in silence. Let's create a fostering community and be empathetic to our friends, families and spouse by lending our emotional support and being a good listener and if needed seek professional help.
One's perspective about mental health is different from physical health but both are equal and importance should be given to both. And priority of taking care of ourselves in terms of not only physical health but mental health as well.

"SEEKING HELP IS NOT A SIGN OF WEAKNESS"

I'm offering free 30 minutes consultation for all ages on this occasion. DM me on Instagram
Myth 1: Mental health problems are rare.
Fact: Mental health issues are quite common. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1 in 8 people globally live with a mental health disorder. Anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions are prevalent in many societies but often go unrecognized.
Fact: Mental illnesses are medical conditions, not a reflection of one’s character or strength. They can affect anyone, regardless of their background.
Myth 2: Mental illness is a sign of weakness.
Fact: Therapy can benefit anyone experiencing stress, emotional challenges, or wanting personal growth. You don't need to have a severe mental illness to seek help. Therapy can also help with life transitions, relationship issues, or self-improvement.
Myth 3: Therapy is only for people with serious mental health issues.
Myth 4: You can “snap out” of a mental illness.
Fact: Mental health conditions often require treatment, just like physical illnesses. They can't simply be willed away.
Myth 5: Children don't experience mental health issues.
Tumblr media
Fact: Not only adults, Children and adolescents can also experience mental health problems. Conditions like anxiety, depression, and ADHD can manifest early in life. Early intervention is critical to prevent long-term consequences.
Myth 6: Medications are the only solution for mental health issues.
Fact: While medications can be effective for some, many people benefit from therapy, lifestyle changes, and support systems.
Fact: Most individuals with mental health issues are not violent. In fact, they are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators. This myth is harmful and contributes to the stigma surrounding mental health.
Myth 7: People with mental health conditions are violent.
Fact: Open conversations about mental health can help reduce stigma, promote understanding, and encourage individuals to seek help.
Myth 8: Talking about mental health makes it worse.
Fact: Mental health issues can arise from a combination of biological, psychological, and environmental factors, not personal failures.
Myth 9: Mental health problems are caused by personal failure.
Fact: Many people recover from mental health conditions or learn to manage them effectively. Recovery is a journey and can vary for each individual.
Myth 10: Once you have a mental health condition, you’ll have it forever.
Fact: Many people think mental health illness is an option or choice and think they will not get affected by it. Mental health issues affects everyone regardless of age, culture or professions. Mental health is not a choice and taking care of it is mandatory.
Myth 11: Mental health is not a choice.
Fact: Self-care is essential for maintaining mental health. Taking time to rest, engage in hobbies, or practice mindfulness can help reduce stress and improve emotional well-being, making it a key component of mental health management.
Myth 12 : Self-care is selfish or indulgent.
Myth 13 : Therapy is only for people who can't manage their problems.
Fact: Therapy is a tool for everyone. It helps people understand and cope with their emotions, manage stress, and build resilience. Many people use therapy to learn skills for improving their mental health and quality of life, even if they aren’t in crisis.
Fact: Recovery is possible with the right treatment and support. Many people with mental health conditions lead fulfilling lives through therapy, medication, self-care, and community support. Recovery is not always linear, but improvement is achievable.
Myth 14: You can’t recover from mental illness.
Myth 15 : People with mental health disorders can’t hold down jobs.
Fact: Many individuals with mental health conditions are successful in their careers. With appropriate treatment and accommodations, they can function effectively in the workplace and lead productive lives.
Myth 16 : Mental health issues are all in your head.
Tumblr media
Understanding the truth behind these myths can help foster a more supportive and informed community. Encouraging open dialogue and education about mental health can contribute significantly to reducing stigma and promoting well-being.
Fact: Mental health disorders often have physical manifestations, like changes in brain chemistry and function. Just like any other medical condition, mental illnesses affect both the mind and the body.
