Echo Creek is a 16+ literate small town horror roleplay focused around various story arcs, including the disappearance of a local teenager and the following investigation in the nearby forest of the very picturesque town of Echo Creek.

So I read 82 books this year the grand majority lgbtqia books. I know this is coming out a little bit after the first but I like these kinds of lists. So I like Scifi fantasy!! I’m hoping to have even more lgbtqia books in the future

My precious little trolls oc,,, he lives in a hamster cage and was bred to be a pet//mp3 player for these big elven creatures.

More echo troll ocs & lore under the cut!

Echo trolls are trolls that have been "domesticated" in the way that humans have domesticated animals like rabbits, mice, and dogs. (my main inspos design-wise). The big creatures that have tamed them cannot speak common, and they live extremely far and isolated from other big tribes.

They were created to be pets, and aren't very tasty. Like pets irl, they are kept & cared for mainly for a main use. Their incredible memory, and ability to replicate any sound they hear. Like an echo.

Although, this ability comes with a price. It's incredibly rare that an Echo troll has it's own voice, and usually they cannot produce music themselves. This, and the fact that their big friends' language is incredibly hard for them to understand, makes it impossible to truly communicate. Though there has been some cases where their elven giants claimed that they could teach their trolls to speak, there is no scientific proof that can back up these claims. (Think: parrots, almost)

Living inside big homes have dulled the survival instincts of these trolls a substantial amount. That paired with selective breeding to keep them docile and less dangerous makes them useless in the wild.

Their hair serves no function other than to be decorated, and their teeth and claws are very dull.

Very rarely, an odd stray makes its way into the settlement, and different variations of trolls with different styles may appear.

You know back when the AU was a comic, I was able to gloss over so much of the politics of Mewni Creek I was not well equipped to handle and focus instead on the relationships and bonds that were important to the story going forward and explain the new governmental system of this combined world after it had been established and the masses calmed long down.

But now? Now that it’s a fic? Now that I have to essentially re-start the Ovelia establishment and better flesh out her blossoming friendships and connections to the main cast?

I’ve really gotta buckle down and write the politics and post-Cleaved chaos don’t I.

Queer Reads: NR Walker

Continuing our Pride Recs, we have another author from the Southern Hemisphere. 

N.R. Walker is an Australian author with quite a bit of range, and a solid backlog of books to read. Featured in the little graphic are EWB (Enemies With Benefits), Private Charter, Tallowwood, Three’s Company, and The Men From Echo Creek. 

EWB, Private Charter, and Three’s Company are all contemporary romances. The first two are set in Australia, and the third is set in Florida. EWB is an enemies-to-lovers book that really did it for me. It’s emotional and funny, and Walker really pulls off the “I hate you, but sure I’ll fuck you” thing it has going on. Private Charter is about an executive who plans a romantic vacation with his boyfriend, who dips out last minute and wasn’t really that serious anyway, and leaves the MC on a yacht with a super hot captain sailing him around for two weeks. Also, he only packed a white swimsuit. Three’s Company is MMM with a couple and a third who hook up for a fling, and then develop all the feelings. It’s very sweet. 

Tallowwood is much darker, with a serial killer, a detective, and a local constable. It’s definitely romantic suspense, and I was up late into the night finishing it, because you can’t go to bed half way through a serial killer book. Seriously. 

The Men From Echo Creek is Walker’s first foray into historical fiction, but it’s Australian historical fiction, which was fun. Like, it reads like a pretty standard western setting (for US readers), and then suddenly they’re eating wallaby for dinner. It’s sweet, and soft, and both of the MCs are absolute cinnamon rolls who deserve lots of hugs. 

Walker has lots more contemporary fiction, some more romantic suspense, and hopefully in the future some more historical work, so go enjoy some good writing. 

And folks, read queer all year.

Cirque du Soleil x Echo x Concord Pacific Place x False Creek.

Montreal's world-famous contemporary circus producer returns Under the Big Top for its annual fall/winter residence downtown. Echo's more acrobatic-based show offers some widly exhilarating and dangeous-looking thrills on stage. It's another complete show and effort featuring a sprawling cast of performers, acrobats, gymnasts, and clowns. What's most enticing about the show is its variety of entertainment and a simplicity to its complex movements.

Live performances scheduled until Jan. 5.
