Inhale pain, exhale healing. Do not forget that you are made of dreams, dances, and beautiful songs of your ancestors singing time ago under the stars, through your blood runs the magic of thousands of stories of warriors, sorcerers, healers, farmers, heroes, artists, troubadours, and alchemists.
When you heal; you reclaim your power back.
When you stand up firmly in your power, you heal your ancestors and give them the chance to reclaim their power too.
Hugs warm like warm alpacas.

Announcing the Second Cohort of Desmos Fellows
Last August we welcomed 39 teachers to the first cohort of our Desmos fellowship. Our goal for that program was simple. We wanted to bring together some of the most interesting, talented, and diverse math educators we could find. Then we wanted to support and learn from them however we could.
Some of that support happened over a weekend retreat in November full of professional learning, collaboration, community, and good food. We carried that community forward onto the internet after our weekend retreat where we support our fellows remotely, through Slack, and email, and direct communication with anyone on the Desmos team.
Let’s be clear: as hard as we try to support the Desmos Fellowship, we receive just as much as we give. The Desmos fellows keep us connected to the classroom and students. They use our tools in ways we never imagined and their reports from their classrooms improve our work immeasurably. The fellows receive a preview of nearly every new feature we release at Desmos and their feedback always improves the public release.
Given the success of our first cohort, how could we not invite a second?
So let us introduce you to the 41 teachers we have invited from across the United States and Canada into the second cohort of the Desmos fellowship:

Naked Mysteries
Thoughts from Sunfire
My father was an ordained methodist minister, but he resigned from active ministry when I was about two years old to follow a career of lecturing and writing. Still, we had many Bibles and other religious books in our apartment. I remember that one of them contained a black and white reproduction of Giotto's baptism of Jesus, from the Scrovegni Chapelin Padua - part of a series of pictures of the life of Jesus. As far as I can remember, this was the first time I ever saw a picture of a man naked - all be it with his legs discretely crossed to hide his penis.
Ritual bathing had been a part of Judaism long before the time of Christ, and Jerusalem had pools for ritual bathing before entering the Temple for other sacred rites. The ritual became known as tevilah and the indoor pool where it is performed is a mikveh. In early Jewish teaching there is an injunction that, in establishing a new Jewish community, a mikveh should be built before building a synagogue.
But John the Baptist, like Jesus, was at odds with the established Jewish leaders, who maintained their power by capitulating with their Roman conquerors. John brought his faith to the people by baptizing in the River Jordan and other natural streams and lakes. In Orthodox Jewish communities today, participants in the tevilah - which, unlike baptism, may be repeated many times - are always naked. When you combine this with the writings of early church fathers who said that those being baptized should be naked, this is compelling evidence that Jesus was naked, as he is shown in Giotto's fresco as well as in mosaics from early times
Two of them in Ravenna, Italy, are significant because they are centered in the domed ceilings of two baptistries - chapels constructed in the sixth and seventh centuries specifically for the rite of baptism. Imagine entering a baptistry, removing all your clothing including rings and other jewelry so that water would touch every inch of your skin, entering the baptismal pool, being lowered into the water by a priest, instructed to open your eyes, and coming up out of the water to see, high above you, the image of your Saviour, naked in his baptism.
Nakedness in sacred settings is not confined to Judaism and Christianity. Murals from a mystery school in Pompeii show nudity in a ritual, the exact nature of which, lacking other historic sources, we can only imagine. Native American practices, including the hanbleceya (vision quest) and the inipi (sweat lodge) are often done naked. In India, prior to the conquest by the Victorian British, many holy men spent their entire adult lives naked. The British required them to put on loincloths, but with the independence of India, the custom of loincloths seems to be fading away. "Ardh Kumbh: The Greatest Religious Festival on Earth," is a short documentary, one of a number of documentaries that show how men in a festival, most of whom have abandoned loincloths.
If I had been born on the North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean, where the natives have no clothes and no contact with outsiders, clothing might be just as abhorrent to me as nakedness is to many right-wing westerners. I don't think it's possible for me to come to much meaningful understanding of distant cultures. What I do feel is not only possible but necessary is to understand the role nakedness plays in the processes of transformation that I and many others in our extended community have experienced either here at Easton Mountain or in our spiritual journeys before coming to Easton Mountain. Nakedness has been a part of my spiritual explorations, but I'm still reflecting on its role - reflecting on the mystery that it has for me. If you have insights that could further my understanding in this area, I invite you to join me in meditations, conversations, and perhaps rituals that will help us grow spiritually.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Sunfire is one of the hosts of Sun Clad: A Naturist Gathering for Men Who Love Men (August 21-25). During this retreat, he will facilitate a three-workshop series called "Naked Mysteries," Part I will be in inquiry into nudity in video and live performance - using video projection and discussion. Part II will be an inquiry into nudity in sacred praxis (rituals, yoga, meditation, etc.). It will be centered around discussion , perhaps in a heart-circle format. Part III will be an inquiry into nudity in self expression leading to growth and will involve some creative work in a medium of the participants choice (writing, movement, drawing, etc.). Participants may choose which parts they want to attend. Each part will be a unit by itself with no requirement to attend all three parts.

Gay Spirituality: A Primer
Two male gay priests talk about the distinctive nature of gay spirituality, institutional Christianity's attitudes towards LGBT people, and why there are high numbers of gays in the clergy. They also share how they realized their spiritual calling despite growing up within a hostile religious environment, the advice they would give to a young gay person who sees him or herself as religious and spiritual, and their belief that the on-the-ground acceptance of gay people is often at variance with doctrinal non-acceptance.
Interviewees include Michael Ruk, the pastor of the Episcopal St. Philips Church in New Hope, Pa, and John Stasio, a "post Roman" Catholic priest and founding director of Easton Mountain, a retreat center near Albany New York.

20 Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Clinics Closed Last Year, 13 Have Closed This Year
Hardly a month goes by without reading that another Planned Parenthood facility is closing. The news is received with much joy and fanfare.
Each and every closure is a victory because it will impact the number of babies and their parents who will be spared the horrific ramifications of abortion.
But before we uncork the champagne bottles, there’s something you should know.
A closer look at what’s actually happening.
A close analysis of these closures reveals that Planned Parenthood is in better shape than the situation would lead us to believe. And while we are winning this life-and-death battle, there is much work yet to be done.
There were considerable gains during 2016, according to Cheryl Sullinger with Operation Rescue. Thirty-one abortion facilities (Planned Parenthood and others) permanently closed or halted operations. In addition, 20 Planned Parenthood referral-only facilities closed. These centers didn’t actually perform abortions, but referred clients to those that do.
Several Planned Parenthood facilities have closed since the beginning of 2017.
SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately
Wyoming’s single Planned Parenthood, a referral-only facility, in Casper will close July 21 due to lack of demand. Spokesperson Whitney Phillips said other area health clinics could see to the needs of the less than 500 clients a year; exposing their false claim that less-populated, rural areas would be lost without Planned Parenthood. Wyoming joins North Dakota as the two states with no Planned Parenthood facility.
Colorado is closing two referral-only facilities in Longmont and Parker. Ironically, it’s not pro-life policies that have prompted the change, it’s Obamacare. Many of their clients used to pay in cash. But now under the government plan, more qualify for Medicaid, notorious for low reimbursement, which affects their bottom line. Planned Parenthood’s motto, “Care, No Matter What” rings hollow.
Three abortion referral-only locations in New Mexico will be closing. Facilities in Rio Rancho, Farmington and Albuquerque are slated to end services in September. Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains CEO Adrienne Mansanares said it was part of a consolidation effort and the Obamacare effect.
Closing of the center in Albuquerque had been planned for two years in anticipation of a new abortion facility to be built. Three Planned Parenthood facilities remain in the city.
A Planned Parenthood closure is especially encouraging when a facility that was performing abortions ends the killing. Suzanna de Baca, president of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced that four of their Iowa centers will be closing, most being shuttered on June 30. The locations in Burlington, Sioux City and Bettendorf provided abortion services, Keokuk did not. These closures were a direct result of a pro-life state legislature and governor cutting Planned Parenthood’s state funding.
Two Pennsylvania facilities closed in late March. The Easton location provided abortions, while the Bristol facility did referrals only. The Easton victory was in a sense short-lived because a new center opened there in April. Currently it does not provide abortion services, according to executive director Melissa Miranda.
Pro-lifers had an additional reason to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Silver Spring, Maryland, when a Planned Parenthood abortion facility closed. Pro-life advocates lobbied the property management company to remove the abortion center from the building. It had been performing abortions for 20 years.
Of these Planned Parenthood centers that have closed or will be closing since the beginning of the year, eight were abortion referral-only facilities and five directly performed abortions. We’ve observed a developing trend of Planned Parenthood closing facilities in rural or less-populated areas of the nation in an effort to consolidate services and eliminate less profitable affiliates. Planned Parenthood has been adamant that continued federal funding is crucial to keep rural centers open, but in most cases they are being closed for issues unrelated to the availability of federal tax dollars.
While we are encouraged by these closings, we must keep our eyes on the bigger picture. As we celebrate the closed facilities, they are often quietly replaced by more deadly structures. Since 2004, Planned Parenthood has built 25 high-volume, mega abortion centers of at least 10,000 square feet, with more planned. Eighty-eight percent are located in neighborhoods of women of color.
Planned Parenthood is not retreating from the abortion industry. Evidence indicates they have embarked on a strategic plan to corner the abortion market. Their market share of abortion has skyrocketed to 35 percent (323,999 in 2015) while the number of abortions has decreased to approximately 926,000 per year.
Operation Rescue has polled every abortion center and determined the average first-trimester abortion, surgical or chemical, is about $600. Late-term abortions are much more. Conservatively, that’s at least $194.4 million in abortion income for Planned Parenthood.
At the same time they have decreased non-abortion related services. According to their annual reports between 2011 and 2015, Planned Parenthood’s:
PAP tests decreased 65%
Breast exams fell 51%
Prenatal services dropped 44%
Total services decreased 14%
The cold, hard reality is Planned Parenthood is dumping legitimate healthcare services for women because there’s more money to be made in abortion. And they are aggressively motivated to protect their stake in the lucrative abortion industry.
Profit. No Matter What.

20 Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Clinics Closed Last Year, 13 Have Closed This Year
New Post has been published on http://www.therightnewsnetwork.com/20-planned-parenthood-abortion-biz-clinics-closed-last-year-13-have-closed-this-year/
20 Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Clinics Closed Last Year, 13 Have Closed This Year
Hardly a month goes by without reading that another Planned Parenthood facility is closing.
