Kind of crazy that the wicked Witch of the East (yes, that is how it’s stylized in the original novel), Dorothy Gale, and the wicked Witch of the West all have the same shoe size. (Yes, the Witch of the West does briefly wear one of the Silver Shoes in the original novel.)
I realize that this could be explained away by determining that the Silver Shoes change size to fit their current wearer (like the One Ring in *The Hobbit* & LotR), but nothing in the original novel suggests that. It would be a cool angle for an adaptation to take, though.
And, of course, people can choose to headcanon that/choose to interpret it that way.

Can i be real with you for a moment... Tolkien writing books about how horrible imperialism is while basing the morality in them on imperialist narratives. Rowling writing books about importance of tolerance and love that are full of deeply internalised sexism, homophobia, antisemitism, racism, you name it. Herbert writing a spectacular deconstruction of a white saviour narrative while actively coopting, misrepresenting and almost insulting/villanising middle eastern cultures and people.
Only one of these is so exempt from criticism in popular culture, only one is treated like a holy, untouchable saint who cannot be questioned or criticised and whose works should not be altered or whose ideas cannot be questioned in new interpretations.
Where does this come from, is it the association with the christian dogma? Its exhausting especially since it appears in the fandom too - there is surprisingly little actual analysis of the problematic aspects of his works in comparison to any other fandom that i've been in.

West Asian nose rings and jewels
Numerous types of nose rings have different names. For example, a nose ring worn in the right nostril is called a khizama, and a nose ring for the left nostril is a zimam. The classic nose ring (shanf) of silver or gold consists of an upper half made of thick wire and a lower half that is a semicircular disk decorated with filigree work. A special type of nose ring called the frayda is a large nose ring set with a pearl or turquoise. Some women wear a stud (also called a zimam in some regions) made out of gold or silver.
Apart from gold or silver studs for the nostrils, some Bedouin women and girls wear a pendant hung above the bridge of the nose; this is typically a flat piece of silver inlaid with glass beads with small rings and chains attached to it. Nose rings in West Asia have a long history dating back 4,000 years ago and are worn at all corners of the region.

The Shire was divided into four quarters, the Farthings anyway referred to, North, South, East, and West; and these again each into a number of folklands, which still bore the names of some of the old leading families, although by the time of this history these names were no longer found only in their proper folklands.

Discover the Allure of East-West Marquise Rings Tips and Trends for Your Unique Choice
In the world of engagement rings, trends are always evolving, but some styles capture the imagination more than others. The East-West marquise ring is one such trend that's been gaining traction among trend-conscious couples and engagement ring shoppers. This innovative setting flips the traditional vertical marquise cut on its side, creating a fresh and modern look that stands out from the crowd.
Choosing the right engagement ring is a significant decision, and understanding the nuances of the East-West marquise setting can help you make an informed choice. In this post, we'll explore the features, benefits, and trends of this distinctive style, offering valuable insights and tips for selecting the perfect ring.
Understanding the East-West Marquise Setting
The East-West setting for marquise rings takes the elongated shape of the marquise cut and positions it horizontally across the finger, rather than vertically. This unique orientation not only offers a fresh perspective on a classic cut but also enhances the ring's visual impact. The East-West setting is known for its ability to create a more substantial appearance on the finger, as the horizontal alignment can make the stone appear larger and more eye-catching.
One of the primary advantages of the East-West setting is its wearability. The horizontal placement of the marquise stone reduces the likelihood of snagging on clothing or other objects, making it a practical choice for those with active lifestyles. Additionally, the East-West setting is celebrated for its uniqueness, providing a modern twist on a traditional style that appeals to those seeking something different in their engagement ring.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an East-West Marquise Ring
When selecting an East-West marquise ring, several factors should be taken into account to ensure you make the best choice for your individual preferences and lifestyle. Ring size is a crucial consideration, as the horizontal layout can affect how the ring fits and feels on the finger. Be sure to try on different sizes to find the perfect fit.
The choice of metal for your ring band is another important factor. Metals like platinum, white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold all offer distinct aesthetic qualities and levels of durability. Consider your skin tone, personal style, and lifestyle needs when selecting the metal for your East-West marquise ring.
When it comes to the stone itself, focus on the four Cs—cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. The marquise cut naturally elongates the stone, which can highlight imperfections if the clarity is not high. Opt for a stone with excellent clarity to ensure it sparkles brilliantly. The color of the stone can also play a significant role in the overall look of the ring, so choose a hue that complements your style and skin tone.
Trends in East-West Marquise Rings
East-West marquise rings have become a canvas for creativity, with various trends emerging in recent years. One popular trend is the use of colored gemstones instead of traditional diamonds. Sapphires, emeralds, and rubies in an East-West setting offer a vibrant alternative that can infuse personal meaning and style into the ring.
Another trend is the incorporation of mixed metals, where different metals are used in the band and setting to create a dynamic and modern look. This approach allows for greater personalization and can enhance the unique appeal of the East-West setting.
Personalization is a key trend, with many couples opting to add custom engravings or select unique side stones to complement the main marquise stone. These personal touches can transform an engagement ring into a meaningful symbol that tells your unique love story.
Shopping Guide
Finding the perfect East-West marquise ring involves choosing a reputable jeweler who understands the intricacies of this unique setting. Look for jewelers with experience and expertise in crafting East-West settings, as they'll be able to offer valuable advice and high-quality craftsmanship. Some renowned jewelers known for their exceptional engagement rings include Tiffany & Co., Blue Nile, and Brilliant Earth.
If you're considering an online purchase, platforms like James Allen and Etsy offer a range of East-West marquise rings with customizable options. These sites often provide 360-degree views and detailed descriptions to help you make an informed decision from the comfort of your home.
For those seeking a truly personalized ring, consider working with a jeweler to design a custom piece. This allows you to select every element of the ring, from the stone and setting to the engravings and band style, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Conclusion
Choosing an East-West marquise ring is an exciting opportunity to express your personal style and make a statement with a truly distinctive engagement ring. By understanding the features, benefits, and trends of this unique setting, you can confidently select a ring that reflects your individuality and love story.
Remember to consider factors like ring size, metal choice, and stone quality, and don't hesitate to explore customization options to create a ring that's uniquely yours. Whether you opt for a classic diamond or a vibrant gemstone.
the East-West marquise ring offers endless possibilities for creativity and elegance. For further guidance, consider consulting with a trusted jeweler who can provide expert insights and help you bring your vision to life.
