*Sneezes* okay MOTHER characters from shortest to tallest headcanons,

MOTHER 1: Pippi and Mimmie and Minnie (same heights), then Lloyd, Ana, Ninten, Teddy. Don't have a comparrisson for them to the others, but as a side note Maria is significantly taller than George.

MOTHER 2/Earthbound: Porky, Ness (although he'd one day hit a growth spurt and become like 6 ft), Paula (Paula is BARELY taller), Jeff, Tony (slightly), Poo.

MOTHER 3: honestlyyyy a lot of these are canon but, Lucas and Claus it switches who's taller like every other week (is always only by like a centimeter or less though), then Fuel, Nana, Kumatora, Flint, Duster.

When Jeff moved in with Dr. Andonuts by the end of the game, he had as a main goal to bond with his dad more and make up for lost time. But Apple Kid also came in to be Dr. Andonut's assistant and or/apprentice. Anyway, by the end, Dr. Andonuts bonded with Apple Kid like it was the son he never had, while the son he DOES have ended up having more of a professional relationship with him..lol

As a side note: Jeff resents Apple Kid a lot, I think it's kind of implied why

Random modern Earthbound/Mother headcanons that I've been thinking about for a while.

- Picky is an ipad kid and loves skibidi toilet. He's even shown it to Tracy on multiple occasions until she banned him from talking about it

- Lucas' entire family plays Pjsk. (Lucas likes Leo/need, Claus likes Vivid Bad Squad, and Flint likes More More Jump.)

- Ness, Paula, and Jeff play Genshin Impact together. (Ness mains Kokomi, Paula mains Barbara, and Jeff mains Neuvillette)

- Ninten used to be a dsmp fan but now when anyone brings it up he gets incredibly embarrassed.

- Ness and Porky used to watch South Park together.

- Fuel unironically uses brainrot humor.

- Ness has a secret blog where he posts poetry he's written.

- Ana comments bible verses on random posts and comments "God loves you ❤" on every post she sees. (THIS ONES A JOKE BUT ITS FUNNY TO THINK ABOUT)

- Claus believes everything he sees online and Lucas constantly has to tell him things like "No Claus, the power lines are not there to transfer energy to a secret underground base full of lizard people."

- Adding on to the last one, Claus will pay obviously scammy 'psychics' to tell him his future.

- Lloyd likes making visual novel games and will have Ana and Ninten draw sprites for them.

- Porky is in robotics club.

- Jeff is into stock trading and gets a notification every 30 minutes about how the stock market is going.

- Duster watches hopecore videos and cries.

- Kumatora has a TikTok account where she explores abandoned buildings and its actually super popular.

- The only thing Lucas posts on any of his social media is pictures of Boney or any other animal he comes across.

- Ninten never actually does his work in class (he plays nitrotype) yet he has straight B's.

- Ness has CRAAAAZZYYY beef with his gym teacher.

- Jeff and Ness are HUGE Pokemon fans and have played almost every game together.

- Kumatora is a crazy internet sleuth, if they have an online presence then she knows who they are.

- Flint lost his driver's licence and has been too lazy to retake the test to get it re-instated (he just walks everywhere, and Lucas and Claus take the bus to school anyway)

- Poo is a huge fan of musicals and has made Ness, Paula, and Jeff watch Hamilton at least three times

- Paula is super into old convention culture (things like yaoi paddles n shit). Shes a mini-internet historian.

- Ness will make some of his poetry into music (mostly dad-rock or emo music)

- Lloyd is CRAZY GOOD at rhythm games and likes to play fnf

- Ana is addicted to Gacha games, no matter the genre, if you can gamble to get some cute characters then shes there.

- Porky has his own webcomic series that's inspired by Homestuck.

- Jeff likes to make music in his free time from a long list of different styles, his favorite being vaporwave. He's also a huge Vocaloid fan and will make music using a variety of voicebanks (though his favorites are MEIKO and [V3] Flower)

My Take on the MOTHER Protagonists (and Claus)

Ninten

◇ Confident, brave, optimist

◇ Loves reading superhero comics. Superman is his idol and he styles his hair like him

◇ Wears his bandana like a cape

◇ Always tries looking for adventures to go on and people to help. Rescues cats from trees, helps lost kids find their parents etc.

◇ Often annoys people mistakenly

◇ Gets bullied for sure but most of the time doesn't even realize it

◇ Raises his hand in class all the time, just to go on rambles about what the lesson reminds him of (most of the time it's barely related)

◇ Total sweetheart

◇ Sounds like Fanboy from Fanboy and Chum Chum. Sorry.

Ness

☆ Energetic, chatty, kind of a geek when it comes to video games and comics but those interests fade later on as they just remind him of a certain someone he used to play and read them with

☆ He's kind of cocky and also EASILY sasses people back if they're mean to him or banter with him

☆ Struggles paying attention in school, doodles on his work sheets

☆ Not an artist per se, but he finds it fun sometimes. It's his favourite subject but he messes around a bit too much for the teacher's liking, who wants him to take the class more seriously

☆ Ninten is HIS idol ever since he heard about him in the news, ever since then he's been dressing like him

☆ Paula is his best friend ever. Whether he has feelings for her or not depends on my mood, but either way the two of them don't mind being mistaken as a couple that much and often play along with it because they find it funny, acting like a stereotypical married couple

☆ Implied in canon, but he feels bad for everyone he defeated, and everyone he lost

Lucas

♡ Sullen looking all the time, sleepy ALMOST all the time, always clinging to his mom, and if not his mom, Boney, and if not Boney, a drago or a sheep.

♡ Flint used to give him piggybacks all the time on walks since Lucas's legs would get tired and he'd complain. Sometimes Claus would want to join in too, and Flint would carry them BOTH on his back.

♡ Climbs Duster

♡ Most of the time when Hinawa would tell him jokes, he wouldn't get them and needed them explained

♡ Uncoordinated, trips often and struggles to draw and write

♡ Loves animals, spends a lot of his time with them. At home he's often cradling a lamb

♡ He feels guilty that he's the one who's left for Flint to deal with, not Claus. Claus wasn't picky, was brave and smart, was talented and didn't screw up and cry all the time like Lucas

(NOTE: ): we love you Lucas, and so does Flint even though he fails you)

♡ His relationship with Flint has been damaged, and while it's slowly repairing over time, it will take a while.

♡ Pre timeskip he would cry and sleep all the time after Hinawa died and Claus disappeared, post timeskip he becomes more emotionally numb and a little sassy

♡ Kumatora reminds him a bit of someone

Claus

♡ He was happy-go-lucky, quite a rascal, often injured himself (similarly to Lucas), very social and imaginative

♡ He would often go up to random people and start conversations

♡ Looked up to his dad, also Lighter a little

♡ Other than Lucas, Fuel is his best friend

♡ Claus loved to pull silly little pranks on Flint. He sometimes tried to prank Hinawa, but she would always see it coming (NOTE: this is because she's a goober herself, and, in fact, would often play lighthearted pranks on the twins too)

♡ He would smile almost constantly

♡ When he found out what happened to Hinawa, he decided now it's time for him to finally be a hero.

♤ After he was found and re-constructed, his heart was very intentionally removed

♤ He's very violent, and hates every single second of living - constantly suffering physically and mentally

♤ One pigmask tried to make Claus smile. He had to get surgery after

♤ For some reason, when he sees sunflowers he gets especially angry. He'll destroy any in sight

♤ He can FEEL that there's a gap in his memory. Sometimes, he gets these random memories that he doesn't understand, which makes him even more frustrated

♤ He despises Porky and Fassad

♤ He would've killed Lucas if Hinawa didn't stop him

♤ When he regains his memories, he hates himself

He wanted to be the hero, but to him, he became the villain.

(A messed-up little concept I made for a Bill Cipher given the Giygas treatment - or 'GiyBill' as I call him. My idea was that, after enough time in the Theraprism, he's forced to confront his suppressed memories of what he did to his home dimension, and the guilt that came with it. Unable to reconcile that guilt with what he is now, he loses what little sanity he had left and tears himself apart, becoming a barely-sentient maelstrom of destruction driven by confusion and hatred. It's a small mercy he's contained in the Nightmare Realm again, and lacks any means of escape until it's finally destroyed. Unless some idiot were to try summoning him again...)

So I drew a comic-ish sorta thing that conveys a pretty big feeling that Greg has early on upon first putting himself back together from limbo-space and all. The feeling isn't gone--like the insecurity is still there--but he figures that the trade-off makes it kinda okay.

Ig this is both a request and a question, but what would’ve happened if Ness didn’t save Paula from the Happy Happyists? Or at least what you think would’ve happened

I've actually thought about this quite a bit and I've still been mulling it over in my head for the Nothing's Set in Stone (No Buzz Buzz/Prophecy) AU in particular-

One option I've heavily considered is a follow up on her "If you didn't come, I'd have to bust out of here" line, and I envision her burning the cabin down and taking on the happy happyists herself, teaming up with Ness to take them down when he gets there, or just returning home, depending on the reason why Ness didn't arrive.

The other thing I've considered is her actually becoming part of happy happyism, but I've been trying to think of a scenario in which there's something about the cult that actually appeals to her.

I couldn't really come up with a reason it'd appeal to her though, but I haven't thought about it for that long, I just thought if there was actually something to tie back into her personality it'd be more interesting than it being plain brainwashing from the mani mani statue.

That's actually something I generally like reinterpreting from Earthbound, is not quite taking people saying they were influenced by Giygas/Mani Mani at face value, but they're using it to excuse their actions and explain their darker impulses, and there is still something within their heart that would drive them to horrible places.

I still imagine Giygas/Mani Mani has an influence, but I like to think it doesn't make people act completely out of character or rob them of agency, it just feeds on their negativity to make them be the worst they can be within their preexisting motivations.

Yeah. I don't have a solid answer but I do have jumbled thoughts.
