Yoh Asakura was guided by a few different people in his Shaman training, among them Anna Kyoyama, the Itako, who is also his fiancée in Shaman King

Edward and Alphonse Elric advanced their alchemy skills under the guidance of Izumi Curtis in Fullmetal Alchemist

Bonus doodles: Seiya not knowing if he’d want to be a ranger or a trainer (and totally not me having no clue what pokemon he’d have as a partner) and (if I remember correctly) there’s a mission early on in the first game where some kid accidentally lights a tree on fire because they were pretending to catch a pokemon and startled it

Marin's head snapped up as she heard gravel crunching underfoot nearby.

Just some guards doing their rounds. No sign of Seiya.

She had been waiting at the entrance to the training grounds for close to half an hour now, and the fact had not gone unnoticed. More-than-curious looks from the other Saints and recruits were landing more and more often on Marin.

She decided that it would be best to move to a different location. Seiya would know to find her if he knew what was good for him.

In the highly competitive environment that preceded the trials to obtain a Cloth, everybody had everybody else under a microscope, looking for potential weaknesses. Seiya and Marin were hardly favoured to begin with, given their foreign ancestry, so that type of attention could only mean trouble.

Besides, it was beyond unusual for the Eagle Saint to be seen idling around alone, with no affairs to take care of and no little Japanese Saint-wannabe tag-along.

"This is what you get for showing him a little kindness," Marin grumbled beneath her breath.

She had left Seiya to recover alone back at their cabin in an unusual bout of sympathy.

The first matches of the tournament for the Pegasus Cloth had been held that morning. While Seiya had done well defeating his opponent, watching Cassios's match afterwards had deeply disturbed her young student. Cassios's adversary had been a dumb kid whose master should have known better than to enrol him in the competition – and he had gotten his head ripped off for his mistake.

Seiya had flinched at the brutality. Sure, Cassios was a bully and Seiya had endured plenty of pain over the past six years he had spent training at Sanctuary, both at the hands of Shaina's overgrown student and Marin's own rigorous training regime. But, somehow, up until that moment, the very real possibility of death had not quite entered her hard-headed, hopeful and optimistic student's mind.

Marin had thought it would be best to give him some time to make his peace with his fate before drilling him in another training session. But enough was enough. Seiya had had his time and now he had better get his head back in the game.

She left the arena and headed home to give him a piece of her mind.

Except... Seiya wasn't there. More importantly, none of his belongings were either.

A chill ran down her spine. Had Cassios decided not to wait for the official matches to eliminate his competition?

But that could not be. There was no blood, and everything else in the cabin seemed to be in order.

The knowledge of what had surely happened crept upon her thoughts, but she refused to accept it.

Seiya would not do that. It had been one of Sanctuary's first lessons, and plenty of other recruits had demonstrated what happened when they tried to break that rule. Seiya might have been spooked from Cassios's match, but he knew better.

Marin had taught him better.

Surely she had.

But if she hadn't...

Marin ran.
