Paeliae - Magic politician

A mage living in the period when the god vs mages war starts. (8 BD, before dissolution) He is a politician, despite having no patience for the ages old elvish mages who currently run the council. He is obsessed with leaving a lasting legacy even if that means dying today. As such he is vehemently against the concept of immortality, During the war he helps negotiate with the gods to come to a truce. 27, He/Him.

Xaeren - Runic Inventor

Xaeren designed 42 of the 47 runes and uses them to protect himself from the vengeful goddess Schaeres. When she finally attacks him, Xaeren realises there were very few limits to what he could do with the runes and sets out to kill Schaeres, both as payback and just to prove that he can. But some things can’t be done alone…

Tyro - Traumatised Sorcerer

lives in the modern day (about 1500 PD, post-dissolution). They have recently escaped from the abusive cult that adopted them as a child, with their adoptive brother Apollo. They are a sorcerer, so have born magic, but also we’re taught to use runes by the cult. They never used them because of trauma but they could if they wanted to. They are currently running from the cult and trying not to be noticed by the government, who take in all sorcerer children so they can have a monopoly on magic. They have found a family in some other sorcerers living in an abandoned manor outside the city. 17, They/them

Apollo - adopted older brother of Tyro.

He took care of them and the others in the cult, despite being abused severely himself. Despite the trauma he is a very powerful runic. He is currently being attacked by, and looking for other cults like the one he was adopted into to help other children like him. 21, He/They

Ez and Rin (~1000 BD)- The gay bois, who definitely don’t start the apocalypse.

Ez (short for Ezemhaziel) is the god of refined magic. He falls in love with Rin when he is researching to create the runes. He is somewhat of a Prometheus figure, as he brings the first magic to mortals by teaching Rin.

Rin is a gardener working for one of the altic kings, who equally loves Ez for his magic and creativity. Ez and Rin end up working on the runes together. The other gods get mad that Ez gave magic to a mortal, and they let the mortals murder Rin. Ez is mad. This will spiral and cause the start of the godly war, which then ushers in the godly mages war, where 3/4 of all mages die and the gods are removed from the world.

Daimion and Marsh - the regretful and the merry murderer

Daimion and marsh grew up together being trained for an elite military unit, which they both got into. While in the unit they are ordered to fire on civilians and they do it, but later Daimion regrets killing innocents and leaves the unit without notice. He goes on to find the daughter of one of the people he murdered that day and the woman who has been taking care of her. He protects them fiercely and tries to make up for what he did. Marsh however, fully commits to the ‘I kill people as a job, I might as well enjoy it’ and ends up being so recklessly violent that he is imprisoned in the highest security jail in the country, which he later breaks out of to commit a massacre, then returns to his cell like nothing happened. The hike down to the beach where the ship would be docking wasn’t a long one. It’d probably take the refugees a few hours to gather their belongings and then they’d be off again, heading back up toward the castle for a delicious meal and warm beds. 

“Do you remember what our first night here was like?” Ackley asked as they waited.

“Almost as cold, but without castle walls and a cozy fireplace,” Eze replied. “These sims will be lucky to sleep in comfortable beds tonight.”

“Yeah… Watcher, I hope it all goes well,” Ackley sighed. “I’m so nervous!” 

“You’ll do just fine. You’re so woohooing charming, you could have all of these sims eating out of your palm if you wanted them to.”

“If you weren’t a married sim, I’d think you were flirting with me,” Ackley muttered, rolling his eyes in an attempt to disguise how flattered he was by the compliment. It meant a lot, even if he didn’t always believe it himself.

yall are gonna hate on me bc bc my mouthsona’s shit is almost worse than my The Boys sona.

but basically. there’s 2 ways I can see it going. Both are really fucked up.

1. The entire ending changes bc instead of Anya getting. Y’know. It happens to them. (But my sona is on T so they don’t get pregnant so. Shit. Isn’t as bad.) so like. everyone makes it out alive at the cost of their sanity (and well they kinda erm. die. for ERMMMMMM *reasons* yay)

2. They are put on the Tulpar under the guise of being a “mechanic” (they’re actually an auditor who’s supposed to trash the mission lowkeyand give a bad report so Pony Express can dock/avoid paying everyone yay. Which is why their cargo was useless mouthwash in the first place)

Jimmy figures this out and yknow. kills them barehanded in rage (the others later find their diary where they wrote about how they like everyone and was collecting insider info to whistleblow on Pony Express’s terrible labor laws and shit oops)

So.  Random Caryl shower thoughts and I apologize if they are a retread of anything that's been discussed or pointed out already--

Remember the scene at the loading docks at The Sanctuary where Carol and Daryl were talking, Carol told Daryl EZ had asked her to marry him and the moment was just heavy with the implication that Carol was waiting for Daryl to say something, to make some confession?  Then it passed?  Well, that felt like Daryl trying to be the bigger man and put Carol's happiness and feelings ahead of his own.  Forget felt like it.  It was Daryl doing those things because he loves her more than he loves himself and he's never felt, to that point, that she could ever love him that way.

The moment in the finale with the two of them on the bench?  It felt so much like a mirror of that moment.  Even though his words suggest otherwise, Daryl absolutely seems like he's still on the fence about going through with Maggie's plan.  Like he's just waiting for Carol to say the word and he'll stay.  Like I'll posit that she was waiting for him to tell her not to marry EZ.  But again, Carol here loves Daryl so damn much she'd rather do something she feels would make him happy.  Even though it's obvious she doesn't want to, she'd rather set him free because she knows Daryl's not meant for a life walled in.  He's a wanderer by nature and she loves him more than she loves herself and maybe she still doesn't really believe that he could ever love her that way.

Then they say goodbye and Daryl tells her he loves her because he's matured and they've lost so many people along the way.  He needs her to know.  And he definitely means it that way but Carol?  Carol's trickier.  She's switched places with Daryl, kind of, in that she's keeping her feelings closer to the vest and making light of them like Daryl tried to play off that awkward moment talking about EZ.  So she tells him she loves him and she keeps it semi-playful to keep the weight of it all from crushing her.  And either she's doing it to make it easier for him to say goodbye or she still refuses to let herself fully believe and she's in denial to make it easier for herself to say goodbye.

Either option is fucking heartbreaking, but I will say this.  If and I'm really hoping it's a when at this point because I have my thoughts about it all, they reunite?  I feel like she's going to be the one running into his arms and telling him she loves him again with the proper weight behind it, tears in her eyes and all, and we're gonna finally get our kiss.

Anything less is completely unacceptable.

“I swear, at least one of these seals has to be a selkie,” Chase insisted, staring at the seals gathering on the rocks. “Right, guys?”

“I do not know enough about selkies to judge on that,” Schneep muttered. “Jackie? What are selkies like?”

“They can transform between seal and human form,” Jackie explained. “But in human form they have to carry around their pelts in the form of coats. And if someone takes it—usually a human, since they’d be on land—then they are compelled to, uh... follow them, I think. Or obey them?” He shook his head. “You can see why a lot of selkies tend to hide. I’m not even sure how many are still around, honestly.”

“Oh! Interesting.” Schneep nodded. “In that case, I doubt that they would be here, so close to the Institute full of humans.”

“Hmm. True.” Chase sighed. “I guess it’s just wishful thinking.” He turned to the side. “Let’s keep going.”

He’d been meeting up with the humans at the Institute of Marine Biology once a week for the past six weeks. Just so they can all keep up on the news about TridentCorp. This week, Jackie and Schneep were coming, too, wanting to stay up-to-date. The three of them swam up to the building where it hung out over the water. Chase grabbed onto the edge of the surrounding walkway and pulled himself up—and his expression immediately brightened. “Stacy!”

“Hey, Chase.” Stacy crouched closer to the water, smiling. “How have you been?”

“Good. I’ve missed you.”

Stacy laughed. “You saw me last week!” The two of them and the kids met up often, usually at the old closed-down dock where Chase had first revealed his merm nature to her. But she also often showed up for these meetings. Usually without the kids.

“Still missed you.” Chase smiled.

“Get a cave, you two,” Jackie muttered.

Chase shoved him slightly.

“What is new?” Schneep asked. “Ah... ‘wa-wat ez noo?’”

Stacy looked at him and smiled. “What’s new? Well, actually, we do have something.” She glanced back over her shoulder at the Institute building. “Roxy got an email from that doctor woman who helped us get you out, Chase.”

“Lise?” Chase perked up. “You guys reached out to her?”

“No, she reached out to us,” Stacy said, shaking her head. “Said that one of you guys told her about us? I assumed that was you, Chase, until she went on to say this merm had a green tail.”

The three merms glanced at each other. “Jack, maybe?” Jackie said.

“Jack cannot speak human, though,” Schneep pointed out. “How did he tell Lise to message the Institute of Marine Biology?”

The corner of Chase’s mouth twitched. “It probably took a long time.” He could imagine Jack trying to communicate with Lise through gesturing and emphasized whistles all too well. But Lise was a scientist of some sort, that probably meant she was smart enough to figure stuff out. “Stacy, did Lise say anything?”

Stacy nodded. “She explained that she knew we knew about merms—or as she called them, aquatic humanoids. And that she wanted to help us. She said that TridentCorp had some sort of plan to make money off of the existence of merms and she wanted to stop that.”

“A... plan?” Jackie repeated, worried. “What—I mean, ‘wat blan?’”

“What plan?” Stacy shrugged. “Apparently Lise doesn’t know specifically. But she knows that they’re willing to do a lot to find merms.”

Schneep shuddered and sank down farther into the water. Chase glanced at him sympathetically and then looked back at Stacy. “We have seen a lot more activity from them...” he said slowly. “Jackie, I told Stacy about that boat that got close to a village. Have you seen anything else since then?”

Jackie shook his head. “Nothing new... But. A few more boats got close to the village. Enough that the elders have started to move the whole school to a deeper settlement.”

“Are they going to be okay?” Schneep asked worriedly.

“Yeah.” Jackie nodded. “Last I checked, they were in the middle of the move.”

“I hope that TridentCorp doesn’t get there first,” Chase sighed. He looked back at Stacy. “TridentCorp has definitely had a couple close calls with merms. We’d be happy to help stop them. But... well, not much we can do while we’re stuck in the water.”

Stacy nodded. “Don’t worry guys.” She smiled. “We’ll do everything we can on our end. The Institute has a bunch of boats and equipment of its own. Right now, we’re focusing on protecting merms, right? If you guys can find some way to contact us, we can send people to help. We’ll eventually have to find some way to go on the offensive, though...”

“We can’t just go fight them?” Jackie asked.

“No, we can’t,” Chase said. “There are rules about fighting people randomly among humans. Stacy and the Institute could get in serious trouble with human governments. And TridentCorp hasn’t done anything wrong yet, by human laws.”

Schneep blinked, then sighed. “I suppose that if humans are not being hurt, humans will not care.”

“That’s not true, Schneep!” Chase insisted. “How can you say that when Stacy is right here?!”

“...that’s true,” Schneep said quietly. “I am sorry.” Jackie swam over and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Though that does give me an idea,” Chase mused, and turned back to Stacy. “Aren’t there laws about protecting ocean animals? Isn’t that why the Institute exists?”

Stacy nodded. “Conservation laws... There should be more of them, but they do exist, at least. Do you think we could use that, somehow?”

“Maybe,” Chase said. “I mean, we’re not ocean animals, but it could be a start.”

“I guess I’ll ask Roxy about some of those laws, then,” Stacy said. “If that’s alright with you guys.”

Chase, Jackie and Schneep glanced at each other. Then they all nodded. “Better safe than sorry,” Chase said.

Oh, Rayllum canon compliant fics set in between the end of 2x04 to the start of 2x07, for sure. It is a domestic pining Rayllum gold mine of untapped off screen potential. They're on a boat in close quarters for at least a few days with nothing but downtime; Ez, Villads, Bait, and Zym are there as buffers, but there are also plenty of ways to get them alone (esp bc Rayla is the only one who knows about Harrow). Callum is over Claudia and clearly moving on if early 2x07 is any indication. Seasick Rayla. Mutual hurt/comfort opportunities.

Also probably an unseen day passing between the kids docking post 2x06 and ending up in the cave at nighttime in the beginning of 2x07, so again: more banter and sweet moments fodder.

So when the party arrived in Vallaki, Ireena went off on her own to "look for some information." Party decides to go find some place that sells armor before they head out to deal with the aboleth. Sylviel gets some new armor and the party meets Kasimir, who asks that they return at some point and escort him to the Amber Temple.

Before the party can reunite with Ireena however, they are found by one of Lady Wachter's sons, apparently she knows the party is back in town and wants to have a word with them. The party is taken to the Wachterhaus and with some unfortunately high rolls, she realizes they haven't actually killed Victor or Izek yet as they agreed to. In hopes of giving the party further reason to kill Victor, she takes them upstairs to introduce them to someone.

Stella Wachter is completely mute, and as some very high investigation rolls reveal, in a lot of pain. Lady Wachter explains that Stella was returned to her in this state several months ago by Victor, and she has good reason to believe he is the culprit. After some debate, Sylviel asks Dimitry to use his Greater Restoration on Stella to try and help her.

The spell works, and Stella divulges what happened that night. She and Victor had never really gotten along as significant others, and one night he finally revealed why: there was someone else he was in love with. At first Stella was quite happy for him, more than willing to discuss ending their betrothal, but when she returned to Victor that same night, she found him in the company of a vampire. She remembers Victor casting a spell on her, and nothing beyond that point. The party comes to the conclusion that either Victor did it of his own free will, or the vampire had him under a charm and forced him to. They agree that if Victor was responsible, they will kill him for Lady Wachter.

Finally reuniting with Ireena and heading to the lake, the party finds a figure standing on the dock, the aboleth swimming just beneath the surface. Sylviel reveals themself to the figure, who in turn reveals herself. Ludmilla notices Fenro, and expresses surprise in finding of of Riardon's children in Barovia. Apparently they worked together for a short time long ago. Intrigued by the party as she is though, she asks that they leave or die by her hand.

Sylviel manages to come to a compromise with her, she gives them some information and the party will leave her and the aboleth be. She agrees, and they ask her firstly if the name "Ez" is familiar to her. She tells them yes, it is, and that Ez is the name of the vampire hunter Strahd is keeping in Castle Ravenloft after she broke in looking for Van Richten. Then they ask if she knows Victor, to which she again responds yes, but that she has had no personal dealing with him. They explain the situation with Victor to her, and she tells them that if they knew the name of the vampire, she may be able to help them further. Fenro takes a moment to put the pieces of what they know about the Victor situation together, and finally figures out what's going on.

He asks Ludmilla if she knows anyone named Escher, and again she replies yes, that he is one of Strahd's vampire consorts, along with herself. The party concludes that he must have been the vampire Stella saw him with. Now Ludmilla has some interesting information to hold over Escher when she returns to the castle...

Having the information they came for, the party fulfills their end of the deal and leaves Ludmilla and the aboleth be, much to Dimitry's chagrin and Ireena's confusion. But now the party has two new reasons to go to Castle Ravenloft, and a lot of questions for Victor.

I WAS TOTALLY NOT EXPECTING THE PARTY TO ACTUALLY LEAVE LUDMILLA AND THE ABOLETH ALONE BUT I GUESS THIS IS HAPPENING NOW HAHAHA-

i swear this is the most accidentally evil campaign I've ever seen. And I also literally cannot wait for the party to verbally rip Victor to shreds next week, it's gonna be fun. AND THE ESCHER REVEAL I'M. I was honestly starting to expect this would be something that wouldn't be revealed until Dinner with Strahd, but I guess the dice had a story they wanted to tell.

And on the Escher reveal, I'm trying to figure out what Ludmilla is gonna do with this information. Cause before this point she only knew Escher had been sneaking out behind Strahd's back, not what he was doing while he was out. I'm uncertain if she'd use it to get Escher to do something for her, or if she'd tell Strahd to stay on his good side and keep him from suspecting anything of her. Both could be interesting and cause quite a bit of drama, but I guess I've got a week to figure it out!
