Last night's #criterion viewing was The Archers' THE TALES OF HOFFMANN (1951). Of all the Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger films I've seen, this is easily my least favourite. And yet, it's still impossible to pick just one image from it. Varje julafton när jag var liten hade mamma slagit in en bok och lagt bredvid min kopp på frukostbordet - så att jag hade något att göra denna långa längtans dag.
