Well, he finally has a name. Sadly, it isn't one from the poll we ran. We did love Orion with Ori for short, but then a head mate came up and declared him our protector and named him Kohaku, Haku for short. The name Kohaku has several meanings, one of which is "protector from evil spirits". He really helps keep our anxiety at bay, and he keeps us from spiraling into ptsd\negative thoughts and memories. We've never had a plush that could do that. He is our little protector and we've been unable to call him by any other name.

So, please say hello to Haku ^~^

Also, the name Kohaku is in the movie Spirited Away, where Kohaku\Haku protects Chihiro\Sen, and helps her on her journey. He provides her with safety, guidance, and comfort. So, it really does fit our little wolf. We watched the movie with him last night. He seemed to really enjoy it and likes his namesake.

I don't see many non Douglas ESSAs, let alone non dog ESSAs. there's nothing wrong with that! But it's important to have representation, and show that all ESSAs are valid. The reason I'm making this post is for people to show off their non Douglas ESSAs, or non dog ESSAs, hopefully that makes sense. It's okay if it's a Douglas but not a dog, because those also don't get enough representation! When I have time I'll add a picture of my jellycat dragon, Castro. - August

So! I wanna talk about essas again because why not?

What even are essas?

Essa stands for Emotional Support Stuffed Animal! As a said before, they are plushies, any size or type, any animal, don't have to be dogs, that bring confort to the user. It can help with disorders such as anxiety, social anxiety, autism, adhd, ocd, panic disorders, and more! Or even loneliness.

They don't have rules, if they may halp them, you can have an ESSA!

They can have gear, like collars or harnesses, or not. You can use labels for people not to touch them or take them or not, is up to you!

How can ESSAs help?

Essas can help with anxiety attacks, meltdowns, panic attacks, social discomfort, grounding, and more! Bringing Ramen with me, for example, help me calm down, and petting him is so satisfying.

There's not a right or wrong way to use or have an ESSA. If it may help you just having it with you, then it's being used.

Where can I buy an ESSA?

Literally anywhere where a plushie is sold. Toy stores, essential items shops, dollar stores, online, etc.

I see a lot of people from the community buy the dogs on Douglass Cuddle Toys shops, but I feel like they are overrated. They don't have to be expensive either, I bought mibe for less than ten euros. I think he was seven.

Who can use ESSAs?

Like I said, literally anyone. Children, adults, teens, it doesn't matter. You don't have to be disabled either. Even if you don't have any disorders, you can use them. They are confort items, friends, or just tools. They are for anyone, and they can be for you.

My ESSA, Ramen, goes everywhere with me, and comforts me a lot. He's my friend, my best boy, and I love him

I'm excited for her to be around. She's smaller than my babs, so it should be easier to take her with me places and I'm hopeful that it'll ease some of my anxiety

I also got him an “off duty” set up for when I’m going to familiar/safe places like a friend’s house or quick outings like going to the grocery store for snacks or something. You could say she’s a real “Off duty Cutie” 🤭

Hiii! I'm brand spankin’ new the ESSA (emotional support stuffed animal) community. I saw some of my moots liking ESSA posts and I researched it a bit. I knew that it would help me in life, as I struggle a lot with my emotions, especially negative ones. I just wanted to show you guys my ESSA. I don’t even know what he is. My boyfriend got him at a carnival a while back and gave him to me. His face is a bit tilted from his ears and the rest of his body, but I love that about him. His little tongue is adorable. He is very floppy and ragdoll-like, which makes him great for cuddling. I wanted to share this with yall!!

Can y’all help me think of some names for him? I have no idea where to even start with finding a name. I want to find one that really fits him. Thanks!! ^^

We are so anxious today 😭

Been sick all day and feeling horrid. Binx and Eevee are helping us play minecraft to distract from the misery and woe in the front row.

And yes. We are playing minecraft and watching minecraft. Minecraft-ception. Also, we made our mob xp farm out of cherry wood and deepslate tile. Pink mob farm makes us happy.

If you see someone with an ESSA (Emotional Support Stuffed Animal) walk into the building you work at, don't say "oh, no animals allowed! only service dogs!" to joke around or anything along that line. It makes some of us anxious and we don't know how to respond. It also gets annoying when you've heard it multiple times a week
