LOVE ships that are best friends first and lovers second. childhood friends to lovers is my absolute shit. i know everyone loves enemies to lovers rivals to lovers whatever but i love people who just know each other inside and out. who, when they’re together, are still silly and friendly first and foremost. the type of relationship that can have slap fights and know every single intimate detail about each other. who are constantly glued together and sometimes speak at the same time like freaky twins in a horror movie. i love friendship as a deep aspect of love u bitches js don’t get it

once you're done with that read The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer. just finished it and it's INSANE. there are gays in space and i cannot say ANYTHING ELSE for fear of spoilers but it WILL make you lose your mind

Another classic is Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinstion, literally everything i know about enemies to lovers i learned from this book. everything. how i write varigo is rooted in this book and i strive to mimic Casey's style in my own craft because they are just. so fucking funny and smart? i want to munch on their brain. the RWARB movie is going to come out on amazon soon too so it's great timing!!

oh the parallel between reader and alicent both getting betrayed by their ladies in waiting and also aegon's words about their similarities and how their family destroys every woman that marries into it 😭

You get it!!! It really is so tragic. The Targaryens really ruin everything they touch and reader can’t catch a break 😭😭. And going back to the mommy issues Aegon has, I bet he’s like “I couldn’t help my mom, if anything I contributed to her sadness (by being born yikes), so maybe I make things different for reader”

Also I was thinking….I find reader and aemond to be an interesting parallel to rhaenicent even more so than Alicent and viserys. Like both reader and Alicent being “bred” to be dutiful and the perfect wives, them both putting trust in their respective ~dragons~ just to be lied to and gaslit, Alicent/reader being resentful that they have to act under duty and honor while others can do as they please, them thinking aemond and Rhaenyra are the things putting their children in danger. There’s always going to be that want to be close again bc they spend their formative years with that person ☹️☹️☹️

Reader and Alicent are such interesting foils to each other. They handle situations differently but have very similar feelings/end goals

Ughhhhhh thinkin bout jin and mugen. Like. To immediatley set eyes on a guy and think you know everything about him. To decide right then and there that everything he does infuriates you and the barely contained rage of just wanting to fucking kill him. And then you make the jump to realizing that you two know nothing about each other. You two are so different yes, but you're so similar too. And the ways that you are different are not the ways you expected. And the ways you are similar is something you didn't expect anyone else to understand. And by the time you've finished traveling across japan with this guy you realize you really don't feel like killing him at all anymore. How could you kill the one thing that sees you? That understands you, through and through? The thing is still a pain in the ass but it's also a blessing.
