Happy one month anniversary to May 11th 2024 aka videogate day* and the reactions from the fandom.
People were upset but understanding, sad but supportive.
Me? Not supportive. Not understanding.
I was standing in the cleaning supplies aisle of my local drugstore scream-whispering to my bestie about his hair.
Fans hypothesized that Red Light marked a new era for him and maybe he didnât identify with his older mv anymore. Maybe in the course of reinventing himself he needed to shed his past and we had to accept that.
Well, Iâm here to tell you that I was not that girl. I was this girl âŹïž
Donât take the stuff I love!! Please, I canât take it.
My outburst also prompted one of the most hilarious text messages I have ever received.
Iâm so glad that after all these years I can still surprise my bestie. Itâs priceless.
And thanks for giving âem back Omar. Donât ever do that again.
đ
*In case you donât know, several of Omarâs older music videos suddenly disappeared from his YouTube channel that day: Dum Acoustic Version, La mesa, Om om och om igen, PĂ„ min telephone toda la noche, Jag e nĂ„n annan, Todo de ti⊠The fandom was flustered.

Top 60 Doctor Who episodes, for the 60th Anniversary
Since it's the 60th Anniversary tomorrow, I thought I'd prune the 300+ televised stories down to a mere 60, with the Top Ten sorted as my especial favorites. Not too much from the First and Second Doctors, but then I haven't even SEEN all of the episodes that still exist. Quite a few early Tom Baker, but those got reshown on Australian TV over and over so they're a part of my childhood. The pruning got quite painful, I can assure you.
Heaven Sent/Hell Bent 12th Doctor ( First ep more so than second, but Direction, Acting, Performance, Script - *chef's kiss* )
Rosa 13th Doctor
Pyramids Of Mars 4th Doctor ( Show's top villain and his doesn't even MOVE until the last few minutes of episode 4 )
Horror Of Fang Rock 4th Doctor ( A claustrophobic horror story superbly done )
City Of Death 4th Doctor ( An utter delight in every respect )
Blink 10th Doctor  ( Beautifully realised new monsters, and a brilliant jigsaw plot )
The Aztecs 1st Doctor  ( GREAT script - EVERYBODY thinks they're doing the right thing )          Â
Vincent And The Doctor 11th Doctor
The Girl in the Fireplace 10th Doctor
The Husbands Of River Song 12th Doctor ( A fun romp right up until it isn't. Wonderful chemistry between Capaldi and Kingston )
An Unearthly Child 1st Doctor ( Anybody who says Dr Who never used to be political is a clown. The VERY FIRST story is about protohuman politics )
The Dalek Invasion Of Earth 1st Doctor
The Time Meddler 1st Doctor
The Tenth Planet 1st Doctor
The Power Of The Daleks 2nd Doctor ( Not many Dalek stories in this list, but in this one the Daleks are sly )
The Mind Robber 2nd Doctor ( The show's format is so flexible you can do a story about living fictional characters and it fits right in)
Inferno 3rd Doctor ( Possibly the Doctor's worst defeat in the entire series. Brilliant sound design too. )
Terror Of The Autons 3rd Doctor ( Introducing the Master and some actually cunning invasion plans )
The Claws Of Axos 3rd Doctor
Day Of The Daleks 3rd Doctor
Carnival Of Monsters 3rd Doctor
Robot 4th Doctor ( What an introduction for Tom Baker! )
The Ark In Space 4th Doctor
Genesis Of The Daleks 4th Doctor ( Davros was a great addition to the mythos )
Terror Of The Zygons 4th Doctor ( Who would ever have guessed the Loch Ness Monster is a cybernectically enhanced alien cow )
The Seeds Of Doom 4th Doctor
The Robots Of Death 4th Doctor ( Want an example of how costume and set design can elevate an episode from Very Good to All-time Classic? )
The Talons Of Weng-Chiang 4th Doctor ( Lots of problematic aspects, yes, but If you have the entire BBC Period Drama resources at your disposal, USE THEM )
The Key To Time: The Stones Of Blood 4th Doctor ( Fisher writes some of the wittiest scripts from Classic Who, and then throws in two of the most horrifying deaths in the series )
The Key To Time: The Androids Of Tara 4th Doctor ( A delightful little Ruritanian tale )
The Key To Time: The Power Of Kroll 4th Doctor ( You have to give them a standing ovation for attempting a Kaiju movie on a BBC budget )
The Creature From The Pit 4th Doctor ( Fisher again. Wonderfully witty dialogue, sparkling performances )
The Horns Of Nimon 4th Doctor ( Hilariously camp. A delight to watch and rewatch with friends )
The E-Space Trilogy: Warriors' Gate 4th Doctor ( Brilliant concept, a realistically nasty antagonist, and a countdown the characters don't even realise is there until almost too late )
Castrovalva 5th Doctor ( Certainly one of the better traps ever set for the Doctor )
Kinda 5th Doctor ( Very fond of this episode - you don't often get a Dr Who story with this much religion, sensitively written, AND a textbook example of a psychotic break )
The Black Guardian Trilogy: Enlightenment 5th Doctor ( Are there many SF series that could pull off the core concept of this? )
The Five Doctors 5th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Doctors ( Quite an acheivement getting this written at all )
The Caves Of Androzani 5th Doctor ( Masterpiece in most respects.)
Revelation Of The Daleks 6th Doctor ( Davros is having an absolute ball in this one, right up until the last few minutes )
The Happiness Patrol 7th Doctor ( An incredibly angry satire of Thatcher's Britain, under the glitter )
Dalek 9th Doctor
Father's Day 9th Doctor
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances 9th Doctor
School Reunion 10th Doctor
Partners in Crime 10th Doctor ( Tate and Tennant are a hoot )
Midnight 10th Doctor ( Outstanding bottle episode )
Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead 10th Doctor
A Christmas Carol 11th Doctor
The Doctor's Wife 11th Doctor
Hide 11th Doctor ( Actually scary - well done )
The Night Of The Doctor 8th Doctor & War Doctor ( Can you encapsulate an incarnation of the Doctor in a few minutes? Yes )
The Day Of The Doctor 11th Doctor, War Doctor & 10th Doctor
Mummy On The Orient Express 12th Doctor ( Another menace well realised and wonderful performances )
Flatline 12th Doctor ( A weird menace that gets full marks for Style Kill over and over )
Oxygen 12th Doctor
World Enough And Time/The Doctor Falls 12th Doctor
Demons Of The Punjab 13th Doctor
The Haunting Of Villa Diodati 13th Doctor ( Haunted House brilliantly used )
Eve of the Daleks 13th Doctor
And because people might want to know, my top story for each Doctor.
The Aztecs 1st Doctor The Power Of The Daleks 2nd Doctor Inferno 3rd Doctor Pyramids of Mars 4th Doctor The Caves Of Androzani 5th Doctor Revelation Of The Daleks 6th Doctor The Happiness Patrol 7th Doctor The Night Of The Doctor 8th Doctor & War Doctor The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances 9th Doctor Blink 10th Doctor The Day of the Doctor 10th, 11th, and War Doctor Vincent And The Doctor 11th Doctor Heaven Sent/Hell Bent 12th Doctor Rosa 13th Doctor

Liberated Love: Growing a Healing Practice:
(Thursday, February 14) 6 PM - 8 PM @ The Rainier Arts Center
3515 S Alaska St, Seattle, WA 98118-1633
Experiencing hate is nothing new for us as LGBTQ+ people, particularly those of us LGBTQ folks that are also people of color. While national and local numbers of hate violence incidentsâ are rising, we have known this hate to be true long before the numbers began to catch up. One of the most powerful ways we continue to resist hate and survive throughout the violence is by coming together; growing and sustaining deep, celebratory, and liberated communities rooted in love. Existing in community can be difficult though if we forget to tend to ourselves as well. Join the Northwest Network to learn and practice self-healing techniques. We hope for these techniques to serve as groundwork to engage and be fully present in communities, relationships, and families, of liberated love.
* More information about workshops and facilitators will be posted soon! Thank you for your patience.
This event is open to LGBTQ+ folks and their loved ones who have been affected by hate and hate violence.

(Thursday, February 28, 2019) 7 PM - 9 PM
Hugo House
1634 11th Ave, Seattle, Washington 98122
How do our bodies hold onto experiences? How do generations of people of color, queer and trans people, and others who have experienced marginalization carry those stories over generations? Join writers Jordan Alam and Tessa Zeng for a reading and conversation on feeling a story in your bones and translating it to the page. Musician Lex Gavin will also perform. ABOUT THE PERFORMERS: Jordan Alam is a queer Bangladeshi-American writer, performer, and social change educator based out of Seattle. Her work engages with moments of rupture and transformation in the lives of people on the margins. Jordanâs work is heavily engaged in community, and she is a current Kundiman Pacific Northwest co-chair and 4Culture Artist Grant recipient. Her short stories and articles have appeared in The Atlantic, CultureStrike Magazine, The Rumpus, and AAWWâs The Margins; she has spoken at events including the Aspen Ideas Festival and the Eyes on Bangladesh exhibition. She is also the founder of the Asian American social justice publication, Project As [I] Am (http://www.project-as-i-am.com). Most recently, she has completed a fellowship with Town Hall Seattle to create collaborative performance pieces about stories of the body and been editing a draft of her debut novel. Lex Gavin is a multidisciplinary artist living in Seattle. Their brain (and thus their work) grapples with paradox, perception, nuance, and the failures of identity. They are interested in magic, neuroscience/somatics/epigenetics, and human systems. When they are not neglecting their creative pursuits, they work in the youth development field and play in the kitchen. Tessa Zeng is a writer, systems change advocate, and co-creative maker. Slow Couture and the Realm of History.
For the text in Italian translation, please click on the link.
For history enthusiasts fragments of historical legacy may survive through various extant portrayals and through the reinterpretation of its protagonists in the field of literature and visual arts. William Shakespeare wrote a number of plays that dramatized the lives of historical figures, but he combined reality and fantasy, by introducing fictional characters as well, like Sir John Falstaff. In the present time historical figures are also used as an instrument of sensibilization in order to give a greater impact to educative information. Art projects can bring history to life again if the topics do not a simply collect monographs but respect the social and political intertextuality, temporal and spatial continuity the historical figures are embedded in and the heritage they built.
Giving a practical example on the Italian territory, Design of the Universe has been producing a remarkable number of projects dedicated to historical facts and figures since 2012, with the objective to integrate the lessons of history into the present time and to take advantage of previous challenges. It does not mean the celebration of the past but a creative leap into the future by promoting events that focus on history and on its cultural and scientific evolution. Mostly generated in Italy, these projects frequently analyse womenâs position in science, humanities, and arts, women who were marginalised and overshadowed by men through the centuries.Â
Three astronomers as the protagonists of three art&science projects produced by Design of the Universe on the occasion of their anniversaries: Henrietta Swan Leavitt (2021); Lucretia Caroline Herschel and Maria Mitchell (2018/19).
In the last ten years Elisabeth Vermeer, founder of the Atelier Design of the Universe, set up and accomplished numerous case-studies in the shape of pioneering interdisciplinary projects regarding women in the field of science and their difficult career path from the remote past to modern times. Up to now she has created a collection of female stories drawing inspiration from history, from different points of view and from different disciplines. Interdisciplinarity is the main feature of Design of the Universe, the way of creating something by thinking across boundaries. Thanks to accurate research it becomes quite clear that many scientists, both women and men, in the past and in the present, are very sensible to cultural issues, to art and architecture, music and poetry.
Gloria Pastore, Skies denied. Women scientists in different times. Site specific installation in plaster, obsidian stone and photos under plexiglass; Foundation Scienza e Tecnica, Florence; 2018. Laura V.D.B.Facchini, Clouds. Site specific installation in Avantgarde materials and techniques at the Fortress of Montepulciano for the project âLate in the dream. A crossing of visions between astronomy and artâ; 2018.
So it is not surprising at all that at a certain point Design of the Universe decides to set up a big project concentrated on women scientists on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science which takes place every year on February 11th. The exhibition should have been presented last year but the waves of the pandemic rendered this mission impossible. The project entitled âWomen in science, women of flowersâ is now in program for next February 2023 in the Brera District of Milan. One of the personalities in the group of female scientists is an ingenious English lady, Ada Lovelace Byron, the only daughter of poet George Gordon Lord Byron and mathematician Anne Isabella Milbanke.Â
                   Little Ada with her parents.
Visionary and attracted by extremely complicated challenges like the mechanical and fanciful planning of flying steam machines, Ada Lovelace Byron represents first of all her belonging to different scientific and cultural universes, given her devotion to music, her predilection of the harp. In 1833, Mary Somerville, gifted British mathematician and Adaâs mentor, presented her to Charles Babbage, professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge who, by that time, had already reached a remarkable reputation for his visionary and uncompleted projects on the behalf of giant calculators. Ada Lovelace Byron was one of the few persons to fully understand the ideas of Babbage and together they succeeded in creating a program for the analytical engine, anticipating the first computer, thanks to the imaginative force of the artist hidden in the systematical mind of the scientis
Charles Babbage, the Analytical Machine and Ada Lovelace Byron in a Daguerreotype by Antoine Claudet (1843), one of the two existent photos.
Connecting with the data of Adaâs life and work, however, an interesting question opens up which concerns the phenomenon of historicity oscillating between reality and fiction, facts and fancy. How did artists and poets approach the representation of Ada Lovelace Byron in her epoch and does this happen today? Let us have a look on the portraits made during her lifetime. Several artists tried to bring out the living likeness of Ada many times, and some of the most famous attempts, though good in and of themselves, always seem to adjust her features and to match certain epochal standards of beauty. There are numerous testimonies illustrating Ada Lovelace in different moments of her life.
Ada as a child, at the age of seventeen and at the age of twenty (Carl H. Pforzheimer Collection at the New York Public Library)
The earliest witnesses are drawings and paintings when she was a child like the artwork by Comte Alfred dâOrsay, dated 1822 and actually held in the library of Somerville College, Oxford. Ten years later she was portrayed at the age of seventeen in a drawing by an unknown author. British painter Margaret Sarah Carpenter immortalized Ada on canvas in 1836, in a beautiful ivory dress with a gigot sleeve balanced by a tightly cinched waist, corresponding to the fashion dictate of the Twenties and Thirties. In Londonâs mundane high society she attracted attention for the extravagance of her mise and the elegance of her royal posture. In 1852, the year of her death, although in great pain, she agreed with Henry Phillips to sit for a painting seated at the piano, as her father, Lord Byron, had been painted by Phillips' father, Thomas Phillips.
On the background of her biographical notes a colorful prism of interpretations opens up in front of our eyes, deriving from different creative disciplines, not only to render the memory of such an impressive and unconventional personality like Ada more lively, but also to illustrate her social entourage in the Victorian epoch, culture and the difficult position of women in general, above all in the domain of science. All these contributions are available in the video-triptych on the You Tube Channel of Design of the Universe. A note regarding posthumous fame: Ada received an official appreciation only hundred fifty years later, when in 1979 the Ministry of Defense of the United States paid a tribute to her memory and to her work, assigning the name âAdaâ, in a poetical spirit, to a programming language.
Without taking into consideration nowadays Avantgarde techniques which recreate historical personalities aided by software simulation and 3D interactive technology, Elisabeth Vermeer intuitively entrusts qualities like tradition, excellence, exclusive manual manufacture and eco-responsibility. These are the fundamental requisites in the field of Slow Couture. According to these premises, Ada Lovelace Byron was planned to come to life as a hybrid installation in mixed media, half painted, half sown by hand and completed with vegetal elements. This decision gave birth to an innovative concept design of how to represent historical figures in the context of their connection with nature, later on featured by Elisabeth Vermeer with the brand name Fleurestunefleur,  which aims at bridging the gap between culture and nature, between diverse worlds, intellectual, digital, virtual and vegetal, physical ones.

This is the precise moment when Silvia Zambarbieri reentered the stage, in a very delicate and restrictive moment of pandemic, by proving her marvelous inventive force and productive velocity. While the curator had to cope with the lost chance of creating a scenography with a live-audience during the pandemic, Zambarbieri, the artisan-designer from Milan, imagined Ada Lovelace Byron in new clothes. Insisting on this collaboration, Elisabeth Vermeer made the right choice, as she knew perfectly well  that Silvia Zambarbieri was really gifted with a dab hand at tailoring, though she also creates more fluid pieces celebrating the female forms for her everyday clients. Meanwhile the project had been necessarily reduced and transformed into a video triptych on line, artists, poets, musicians invited by Elisabeth Vermeer generated a kaleidoscopic mosaic consisting in fragments, photos, artworks, notes and digital compositions, thoughts and drawings.Â
Uri De Beer and Carlo Accerboni, digital compositions and photo collage, 2020.
Their contributions meet altogether in a perspectival game, like mirrors which exist only in the reflection of one and another. The single parts constitute a strong value when these interact, like in the phantasmagoric world of quants, our meta-world.Â
Claire Jeanine Satin, Mario Pepe, Gian Luigi Suman: vintage computer installation and digital compositions, 2020.
Gian Luigi Suman, Antonio Di Pace: digital composition and photography, 2020.
Dania Marchesi, Silvia Bibbo: digital compositions and painting in mixed media
As with most historical reconstructions, Silvia Zambarbieri (her brand name in fashion is DâIside) did a lot of research but of course there is some percentage of imbued hypothetical data â especially when it comes to the color of Adaâs eyes and hair that determine the shape and structure of the face. Studying the variety of Adaâs portraits which are available in Museum archives and British libraries, Zambarbieri desired to bring forth reveries of beauty and elegance, with a touch of sophisticated extravagance. In the end, in a common agreement between friends, the choice fell on the revisitation of a portrait showing Ada with a romantic look in front of light cloudy skies Ă la John Constable, the painter of  tempestuous firmaments. Zambarbieri likes to listen to to the historical narrations of Italian historian Alessandro Barbero on the radio, mostly about the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. So she frequently draws inspiration from female archetypes in her making fashion. For Adaâs recreation she was oriented towards 18thcentury fashion in London from the Twenties to the Fifties, according to Adaâs timeline.Â
Fashionable dresses in London between 1830 and 1850.
Zambarbieriâs creative practice is based on a number of methodical steps which facilitate the genesis of an artwork that interprets a historical character. The most important one, after the selection of the most suitable photo, is the magnification in a suitable human scale. The artist took the chance of leaving Adaâs features entirely as they are, only replacing the bust with a three dimensional dress. Another determining factor is the choice of the textile fabrics for the creation. Zambarbieriâs paramount is her ecological conscience, the âeco bona fidesâ she proudly wears and manifests by her research of vintage clothing and deadstock fabrics. She is absolutely convinced of the timeless value of handcraft, blending artisan craft with patchwork and woven, crocheted, hand-printed, and embroidered looks. Naturally she stays for the unexpected detail like trompe lâoeil pocket embroideries and original drawing and painting on her latest brand of Japan inspired bags.
In Ada Lovelace Byronâs case Zambarbieri revisited a photography in black and white color, showcasing the mathematician in a romantic dress made of ivory and black colored satin and silk, embellished by lace and embroideries. Lace was a very common fabric in Adaâs epoch, later bypassed by chiffon.Â
Adaâs coiffure, according to traditional hairdressing in London in the first part of the 18th century.
For the accessories Zambarbieri usually wanders through the narrow streets of Florence, like a âflaneuseâ escaping from Walter Benjaminâs masterpiece âArcades Project/Das Passagenwerkâ, looking for artisans and small vintage shops, markets of antiquities and notions stores which seem to be cabinets of curiosities. In these mostly unknown and unexplored places the artist searches for precious buttons in different materials, covered by fabrics or pressed cloth, antique and contemporary lace and tulle, threads and ribbons, decorative ornaments of various periods.Â
Instinctively she acted like this to create a tailored garment for Ada. The result was absolutely stunning. Zambarbieriâs creature is a new kind of Ada gifted with youth and beauty, which is not in contradiction with her brilliant mind, often overshadowed by Charles Babbage. Adaâs outfit is enriched by an ample handmade gown that hides the layers of petticoats, following the fashion guide of the initial years of the Victorian rule.Â
To conclude we can say that the project emanates a feeling of freshness and a sense that originality and even provocation are not only alive in the contemporary design of clothing, but also in the connection with the values of history. Ada revisited offers an invitation for women to dream, a respite to gaze at and appreciate intelligence paired with beauty and grace, and, most awesomely, an opportunity to think.
All this happened in the magic month of December 2020, only a short time before another fragment of âWomen in Scienceâ got lanced by Elisabeth Vermeer to be presented on February 11th 2021. American astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt is the pioneering protagonist of the next chapter of History and Slow Couture.
Stay with us.

This is a rare opportunity to see a young girl washing a child's feet up close, a drawing that was probably made between 1480 and 1483 by Leonardo da Vinci. The work was first presented to the public in 1962, at the Superior School of Fine Arts in Porto, under the name of another author: Raffaellino da Reggio. Three years later, British art historian Philip Pouncey established the true authorship of the design. The work had its last presentation in Porto in May 2019, on the occasion of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, having visited some of the most important museums in the world, including the Louvre, in Paris. The program parallel to the exhibition will include conferences, activities of the education service and guided tours on October 28 (17.30), November 11 and 25 (17.30), November 13 and 27 (11.00), December 9 (17.30 ), December 11th and 18th (11.00). Visits have limited spaces and require registration via email [email protected]. The MNSR is open from Tuesday to Sunday, including holidays, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. The ticket (5âŹ) also gives access to the exhibition Azul e Ouro - Nail Polishes in Portugal from the Medieval Period to the Modern Period. https://www.instagram.com/p/CVBCBstj8a5/?utm_medium=tumblr

IED Madrid celebrates 150th anniversary of Spanish artist and fashion designer Mariano Fortuny
Sandra BĂłdalo Munuera
|
Wednesday, ten February 2021
There are numerous examples of artists or even scientists whose work or even inventions have played an important part in history, but in whose names have been forgotten or even whose names are actually unfamiliar by the vast majority of people. This really is also the case for Mariano Fortuny, a Spanish designer for whom the brand âmultidisciplinaryâ falls rather brief. Painter, fashion designer, set developer, sculptor, and photographer, are just a few of his many vocations. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth- he was born into a category of artists in Granada within 1871-, the Istituto Europeo di Design Madrid (IED Madrid) and the FortunyM Tradition Foundation (a group of specialists from the Arts and social sector in Spain) are usually hosting âUniverso Fortunyâ, a good initiative that seeks to tell the public and introduce this to this great Spanish ethnic and artistic reference, who might be an eternal stranger simultaneously.
During the days of the event, Thursday night February 4th and Thurs February 11th, four digital lectures take place, open to all the public, to promote and share the Spanish designerâs beauty but also to highlight their entrepreneurial spirit as an global reference of art plus beauty. âItâs the first time we now have collaborated together but the concept to host an educational initiative about such a flexible mastermind as Mariano Fortuny, matched the IED soul perfectly. Our school is not really solely focused on fashion, but additionally on graphic design plus product designâ, explains MoisĂ©s Nieto, the Scientific Movie director of the Fashion Design College at IED Madrid.
âUniverso Fortunyâ iis a remarkable opportunity to get to know the most personal part of one of the most influential geniuses of the second of the twentieth century and to reflect on the particular timeless nature of their legacy. For Pilar Torrecillas, the President and person in the FortunyM Culture Basis, âthe beautiful part of these kinds of projects is the way all of us perceive them with anticipation plus excitementâ. For her and many others, Fortuny was and continues to be great inspiration. âGreat Spanish style designers such as CristĂłbal Balenciaga or Manuel Pertegaz verified it and considered your pet an example. And although it is definitely contradictory, he is also a large stranger. An authentic raw diamondâ, adds Pilar. And what could be the main reason for this? Certainly this really is thanks to the fact that after their death, despite giving portion of his heritage to The country, which rejected it, their wife Henriette Negrin, given it to Venice, in which the wonderful Fortuny Museum continues to be created. Ultimately, his heritage belongs to Italy, states Pilar Torrecillas. For this reason, âthe Foundation was established 4 years ago with the goal in order to reclaim Mariano Fortuny great connection to the city of Granada, the artistâs birthplaceâ, describes Torrecillas.
A global legacy that is completely classic
âEverything that fashion provides claimed nowadays such as technologies, craftsmanship and innovation, produced a part of his creative activityâ, says designer Torrecillas. A good influence that she their self has incorporated when it comes to her very own collections on behalf of her style label Pilar Dalbat. A subject she will talk about in the girl lecture âFashionâs Techniques plus Discoveriesâ.
At the IED This town, this influence culminates within an exposition in the Gran CapitĂĄn Center in Granada, that will take place in the month associated with June. Students of IEDâs Fashion School will reinterpret Fortunyâs iconic styles plus prints from a modern viewpoint. In the exposition, the site visitors will be able to view a combination of advanced techniques, such as block publishing and silkscreen printing, along with pleating and other methods that will characterize the artist. Additionally , pieces with a continuous printing spread out over different components will be on display, which reimagine the patterns most utilized by the artist.
The series of classes by the name of âUniverso Fortunyâ, promoted by The spanish language fashion designer MoisĂ©s Nieto for the IED Madrid as well as the FortunyM Culture Foundation will be held at Thursday February 4th plus Thursday February 11th and it is open to the public. Those who desire to attend the virtual occasion can register on the instituteâs official website.

Everything I'm Going To Watch In October (Oh God We're All Already Irreparably Behind)
Hi best friend!
I thought doing this was really fun, and brought me closer to you - my core audience. It also helped me organize my TV life (whereas I actually referred to my own blog like an asshole in order to make sure I was watching everything I said I was. Â Because this is the brutal honesty hour, here is a quick recap of how I did with September:
American Horror Story: Cult - I've watched three of this so far! Boy golly does this season not know what it wants to be.
Top of the Lake: China Girl - I didn't start this yet in hopes my boyfriend would catch up and watch the first season. Yes, I know he never will, and I'm lying both to you and myself.
Broad City S4- Watched it alllll, because I'm just a relationship girl.
Better Things S2 - Jumping back into this was the best choice I made last month. Thank you employees of FX for pressuring me.
The Emmys - Yeah I wrote a whole blog about it, and i was MORE THAN HALF RIGHT.
Channel Zero: No End House - Actually fun and legit creepy (Scarier than AHS...all tea all shade)
The Good Place Season 2 - No biting.
Gaga: Five Foot Two - You guys I'm worried about Gaga.
Transparent: Season 4- Haven't started, don't @ me. God it's depressing to be a whole season behind on something in 24 hours.
KUWTK 20th Anniversary: KYLIE IS PREGNANT, KHLOE IS PREGNANT, WHAT A WORLD!!!!!
The Good Doctor - Haven't mustered the strength.
Law & Order - Did people not like this? LA + bong bong + 1989 + true crime + Dr. Daddy = good.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Yas queen.
Great News - Briggggaaaaa
Will and Grace - So similar to the original series it's eery. For you to decide if that's good or bad.
But now October has come! And with it the arrival of new network shows that I'm not going to watch, programming about ghosts that I'm not going to watch, and Keeping Up With The Kardashians!
Sunday, October 1st-
Ghosted (8:30pm on Fox) -
The title and promos for this show have made me as skeptical as Scully in a cornfield at midnight looking at chupacabra bite marks, but I owe it to Adam Scott and Craig Robinson to at least give it a try. Fox has shown they are able to provide worthwhile comedy (talkin bout chu Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and paranormal investigation seems like a sturdy enough basis for comedy.... Let's just say I'm willing to consider the extreme possibility that there is comedy in the unknown. Maybe the laughs are out there.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians (9:00pm on E!)
DID YOU NOT HEAR ME SAY KYLIE. IS. PREGNANT.
Monday, October 2nd - The Halcyon (10:00PM on Ovation)Â
I barely understand what Ovation is, but this is a British series about a fancy hotel in London during World War II starring fresh-faced youths and Olivia Williams created by a woman. I have bolded all my trigger words in the previous sentence. Â Even if this is bad, it will still be amazing. How do you suspect one watches Ovation?
Tuesday, October 3rd - The Mayor (9:30pm on ABC)
The Mayor is a half hour about a young rapper who semi-accidentally becomes the mayor of his hometown. I thought the promo for this was genuinely funny, and Brandon Micheal (not a typo) Hall was horribly delightful as Dory's ex on last year's Search Party (don't even get me STARTED on my love of Search Party). With a lovable lead, and the even more lovable Daveed Diggs producing, I'm hoping this show will be able to inject some much-needed optimism and levity into political comedy.
Wednesday, October 11th - Riverdale (8:00pm on CW)Â
If you are feeling any sort of judgement stirring over this entry it is only because you have NOT YET WATCHED RIVERDALE. Riverdale is Twin Peaks for teenagers, Riverdale is whip-smart dialogue and rock-hard abs, Riverdale is the best cast show on television. I'm not even kidding, this show has my very favorite casting work of any other show. Golden-boy, ginger-haired Archie's parents are Luke Perry and Molly Ringwald. Pretty boy from the wrong side of the tracks? His dad is Skeet Ulrich!!! It is just 100% pure enjoyable. Also did I mention the abs? Archie's abs are crazy.
Friday, October 13th -
Lore (Amazon)Â
This anthology series from Amazon is based on the podcast of the same name written and narrated by Aaron Mahnke. The podcast consists of creepy short stories that range from mass murderers, to why tunnels make people uneasy. Each episode is beautifully written and delightfully unnerving and if the series is able to capture even a little of the fairytale magic of the podcast it will definitely be worth a watch.
Mindhunter (Netflix)
If I could choose any career to have that is not my career, it would be FBI criminal profiler. Sadly, I recently googled how to have this job and you need do a lot of stuff I don't want to do first, and there are literally only like five of them in the FBI. Feels like a very similar skillset to casting though tbh. This is directed by David Fincher, it is about the BIRTH of serial killer profiling in the FBI, and it stars beautiful cinnamon roll Jonathan Groff. I have watched the trailer almost every day. I want it so bad. SO BAD.
Saturday, October 14th-
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency Season 2 (9:00pm on BBC America)Â
Feel what you will (and validly so) about Max Landis, the first season of this show was quirky, clever and funny without feeling overwrought or precious. It handled time travel with mastery, and boasted a host of charming performances. It also had a corgi. And a kitten. I wrote about the first season when I started this blog last year (if you are interested you can read those entries HERE, be warned it may not help you recap the show in any meaningful way). I plan to tackle season two as well, so mark your calendars and the place in your heart that you have carved out for me. Everything is connected.
Sunday, October 22nd -Â
The Walking Dead Season 8 (9:00pm on AMC)Â
I am locked too deeply in a hateful, but passionate embrace with The Walking Dead to stop watching now. Whether I can summon the force of spirit to write about this season remains to be seen. (If you would like to re-live the agony and ecstasy of season 7, you can read everything I wrote about it HERE)
Monday, October 23rd -Â
Scared Famous (9:00pm on VH1)
This is a VH1 reality program starring Tiffany "New York" Pollard, Alaska Thunderfuck and Eva the Diva. Need I say more? I needn't.
Friday, October 27th -Â
Stranger Things Season 2 (Netflix)
Doo doo doo doo doo do do do
As a disclaimer to my âwhy are you not watchingâ section, I donât watch most network dramas being a) I am tired, b) I try and expose myself to as many new shows as possible, c) I am tired. Besides I am already woefully behind on my September shows, and itâs ALREADY October (and Iâm behind). I canât add 22 more hours of TV into this mix. When will I have time to watch Scared Famous!
But before you ask-
Curb Your Enthusiasm - This show is obviously legendary and I enjoyed it in the past, but it also makes me deeply upset and gives me anxiety. I canât deal with those vibes right now.
The Gifted - The promos for this show claim it is one of the best Marvel series. If it is truly as good as Legion or Jessica Jones you let me know and I will watch it.
Scandal - I loved this show deeply for many years, but ultimately had to consciously uncouple from it.Â
Mr Robot- I tried. I couldnât
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - I have no excuse for this beyond laziness.
Jane the Virgin - Same.
I donât know about you but it feels really good and cleansing to confess all of my television sins to you. I hope itâs just as soul-purifying for all of you viewers at home as well. If you think I missed something let me know, and I will tell you more specifically why Iâm not watching it. I will see you all back here soon to talk about DIRK GENTLY! You can catch up! First season only 8 eps!

New Post has been published on https://vacationsoup.com/thank-you-veterans-from-new-smyrna-beach-florida/
Thank You Veterans, from New Smyrna Beach Florida
Thank you Veterans, from New Smyrna Beach
This Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day . Itâs the one day set aside each November to honor those who have served and continue to serve our nation. The holiday also offers a great opportunity to teach civilians about the sacrifice service members and their families make year-round.
What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
List of Ideas to Celebrate Veterans Day
Communities all over the US hold special activities each Veterans Day. Parades, military ceremonies, free dinners at local restaurants, special school events, and of course - Veterans Day sales. How do you plan to celebrate this year? Here are some ideas for activities to try at home, school and work.
At Home Wear a red poppy or yellow ribbon to show support for veteran and active duty service members. Organize a care-package packing party. If you donât know someone currently stationed overseas, contact a nearby base or an organization like Blue Star Moms to identify troops in need. Visit a veteransâ hospital. Chatting with elderly or injured veterans is a great way to brighten their day, plus youâre likely to hear some highly fascinating stories about their time in the service. Get creative. For young children, a fun project is a great way to start teaching about the holiday and its importance.
At School Encourage your childâs teacher to develop a Veterans Day lesson plan. A timeline or short writing project is a great way for students to learn about the holidayâs history. Invite a veteranâa parent, grandparent or faculty member, perhapsâto speak to students about what itâs like to be in the military. Donât know any veterans to invite? Contact your local VFW or VA; their Public Affairs Officer will likely be able to identify a good guest speaker. There are many veterans who work at VA facilities and would be happy to be to speak to students.
At Work Take time out of the day to acknowledge veterans in your workplace. Consider an office-wide coffee break featuring treats such as remembrance poppy cookies or a yellow ribbon cake. During the event, make sure to recognize each veteran employee. (Plan ahead to make sure you donât miss anyone.)
Retired Army 1st Sgt. William Staude, of Elliott, Pa., salutes soldiers from the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, stationed in Coraopolis, Pa., as they march past him during the Veterans Day parade in downtown Pittsburgh, Nov. 11.
Find an Event in Your Community Want to find a local Veterans Day event? Many communities hold parades and vigils. Contact your local VA for more information. Links to 3 webpages with lists of local Veterans Day events: http://www.volusia.com/veterans-day-events-information-volusia-county/ , https://www.facebook.com/events/riverside-park-new-smyrna-revised-new-smyrna-beach-florida/veterans-day-ceremony/309097516239404/ , and https://www.news-journalonline.com/news/20171109/veterans-day-events
Honor Veterans Year-Round Celebrate with service. Show service members your gratitude throughout the year with a home-cooked meal, thank you note, or day of volunteering. Take your gently-read books to your local VA Hospital or VFW. Contact your local VFW or American Legion to volunteer with their projects.
Support a veteran-owned business. A number of websites can help you identify such businesses in your area - such as buyveteran.com, Veteran Owned Businesses by State, 6 Veteran-Owned Businesses to Hit This Holiday Season, and Top 25 Veteran-Founded Startups in America.
Express thanks Whenever you see someone in uniform, extend a simple word of gratitude or small act of kindness to show how much their service means to you. Source: veteransunited.com, Elisa Essner

gonna keep this short prior to the read more thingymajig but iâm going through some stuff personally and I need to write it down and itâs ofc nothing to do with sims but a whole lot to do with me and I feel like Iâll feel better if I write this down. feel free to skip over this and ignore any form of feelings outside of my pixelated people.Â
[trigger warning: death/suicide/self-harm]
today and tomorrow (may 10th/11th) marks the four year anniversary since I tried (and almost succeeded) to commit suicide. it is a very surreal week for me to go through the past couple of years, and the distance of time from said event does not change the fact that it happened.
I apologise for the detail iâm about to go into but I feel it is needed for context of how bad my situation had got. (I know I do not need to justify my feelings and my mental health but I am going to explain anyway).
I was in my first year of university, 250 miles away from home, and I felt like absolute hell. Iâd made a few friends in my hall, but obviously, this is May, I hadnât known anyone for more than a handful of months, and talking about my mental health was a difficult thing for me to process. Iâd only really mentioned I had a diagnosis of depression to a couple of the girls and theyâd been as helpful as they could, given that sort of social situation. Iâd let university life get the better of me during my first year. I went out drinking until I could barely walk 4 or 5 times a week, and Iâd sleep with pretty much any guy that paid me attention. One guy I met during my first week was a very on-off friends-with-benefits kinda situation, except I wanted more and he wanted less. I spent the whole time at university trying to get away from the toxicity of this relationship and consistently getting drawn back in, to the point it ruined friendships I will never regain.Â
By May I was in a state of sort-of seeing someone else, but it was quite casual. Iâd told him I wanted us to be a âthingâ but he was quite happy to keep sleeping with other people as well (story of my life) and one night when he saw Iâd texted previous week-one twat that I never stopped going back to drunkenly, he got mad and we fought and whatever chance we had of becoming something solid shattered in a matter of minutes. It felt so unfair. He was allowed to hurt me and go off with other girls, so why wasnât the openness he wanted allowed to be the same case on my side?
I never planned to do anything with week-one guy, I think all Iâd done was ask if heâd got home safe (forever the mother hen). Who knows. All I know is that this argument sent me over the edge.
Iâve felt like shit about myself pretty much constantly since the age of 14 when I found my mum screaming about wanting to kill herself and then having a go at me for not being there for her when Iâd run off terrified to call my best friend for advice.
Needless to say my mum doesnât recall this period of our lives. (Sheâs in a much better place now - and she has been for a while. I canât remember what was going on but I think she had just hit a low. She never did hurt herself nor really intended to, and sheâs doing fine now.)
Iâve always been shy and less-than-confident of my own abilities, but this was the start of Literal Hell. I spent my last couple of years at school wasting away to the point that about 7 different people in one day asked if I was alright because I had begun to look rather grey-coloured. I was sleeping about 3 hours a night and eating one meal a day.Â
Things got steadily worse and then better and then worse and slightly better then worse then even worser after that (is worser a word? idk).
I know this is all over the place but I need to write this down. Props to you if youâve got this far.
BACK TO THE STORY. After argument with said sorta-seeing-but-not guy, I took myself back to my room. (key point here: I was pretty hammered. The clubs around my uni sold very cheap drinks (the north of england is great for that), and I was still in my first year phase of drinking so much I couldnât see).Â
All I can kind of remember in that moment was that I felt like such a waste of space; that all I did was hurt the people I cared about, that I didnât matter, that everyone would be better off without me.
Iâd somehow become mildly addicted to painkillers over the year, without really realising, and in my darkest moment, I took a huge overdose. 51 painkillers to be exact. (Who knows why I had that many anyway). All I could think was I didnât want to be alive any more. I didnât want to wake up the next morning. I didnât want to ever have to wake up again.
I spent the next day vomiting my guts up as my body desperately tried to get rid of the damage Iâd already done to myself.
It was around 4pm when I had finally not vomited for about an hour and decided that maybe I should go take myself to hospital and see someone.
I will never be more grateful for something Iâve done for myself than this in my entire life.
When I got to A&E and awkwardly explained Iâd had an overdose and needed to speak to someone, I got seen pretty quickly. Turns out 51 tablets that all contained paracetemol and half of them also with codeine, I was a pretty high priority case.Â
I spent the next five days hooked up to an IV having medication to stop my liver from failing, and blood taken every hour. I vomited for six hours straight that first night. But I knew that deep down, no matter how awful I felt, Iâd made the right decision to go there.
Nothing will ever be as hard as finding the strength to call my parents in the middle of the night to tell them what Iâd done and where I was. Nothing will ever prepare you for how broken that makes you feel. Or when your mum arrives the next day, hotel and travel booked as soon as she could and time taken off work and tears streaming down her face. I will never forget the look on her face when she saw me in that hospital bed that day.
The nurses told me if Iâd come to the hospital a few hours later that my liver wouldnât have made it. I wouldâve succeeded. My whole body wouldâve shut down soon after. I wouldâve died.
I had to find the strength to talk to crisis team therapists and tell my flatmates what Iâd done and why I wouldnât be around for a few days, and then trying to tell university why I needed mitigating circumstances to take an exam at a later date because sorry but Iâm in a hospital bed in pyjamas that smell like vomit that I havenât changed out of in a week.Â
Iâve gone on a really long-winded way of telling this story, but the point is: today and tomorrow mark the four year anniversary of this happening. Itâs painful to think that I still feel like this sometimes, but itâs also encouraging to know I havenât stooped that low since. Iâve been close, many times. But I havenât fallen back down that road again.Â
I may not feel stronger, but I know I am. Iâve found the strength to talk about my mental health, instead of covering it up. I barely drink any more, and I will only take painkillers if Iâm suffering from a migraine. I havenât cut myself in two years.
Iâm proud of how far Iâve come but also of how far I am also willing to let myself go. I know I will fight this, even if I spend the rest of my life doing so.
thank you for reading if you read this whole way and please, someone be crying too because I sure as hell am
