Re: Ballads
One detail my brain latched onto in the Q+ interview was when Omar mentioned that people like it when he sings ballads and he sort of shrugged and went “and I’m like ’okay’” like he was confused or amused.
And I thought, well, there is a reason why people say that. Yes, ballads are great and a lot of people like them in their own right, but for Omar specifically, there is a very obvious reason why people love his ballads and that’s his vocals. His vocal quality is so insanely good and a ballad is the perfect canvas to showcase his abilities. I’m absolutely one of the people who go “yay!!!” when he does a ballad. I’m a sucker for those money notes, what I call the Mariah Carey moment. You don’t usually get that with an uptempo song. And I love his dance songs as well, but a ballad lets his vocals shine.
Let’s be honest, there are pop artists who make good, fun music but are okay singers. And that’s fine. A good tune is a good tune.
But if you have the goods to back it up, people want to hear it. I want to hear it. And everyone knows this is true for Omar. It was true from the beginning. Listen to the old FOOO stuff. There’s a powerful note to hit, an impressive vocal run? Cue Omar. He simply has that vocal ability. ♥️

This was such a great interview and hearing him speak Spanish is always a joy. Thank you, past me, for choosing Spanish over French. Well done, babe!!!

OMFG, Spotify, the whole point of a playlist is that it is the order I, your lady and mistress, deem appropriate. If that means duplicate, triplicate, or even quintuplicate songs, that is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!
