Does everyone get to meet Dyris in Heylin Omi AU? I imagine Chase shuts it down pretty quickly if they do come back to the temple with the mermaid and insist they need to protect her from the big guy who was trying to hunt her down.

She better hope she doesn’t because it’s on sight for Chase with Mermaids

In a hypothetical scenario (which may or may not happen but if it does will happen in Arc 4) I can just imagine this situation:

Chase, seeing a mermaid in the temple pond and immediately pulling out the Shimo Staff: A living mermaid. How unexpected. I thought I killed the last of you five hundred years ago. It seems I’ll have to rectify that now.

Dryas, gasping in shock: you wouldn’t hurt little old me would-

Chase: Silence you oversized piranha. Your idiotic tricks won’t work on me. *freezes the pond*

Dryas: *screams for help and the Dragons and Dojo instantly appear. Dojo transforming as he does so to get in Chase’s way.*

Dojo: I don’t know what you think you’re doing mister-

Chase: then your memory is just as bad as ever! Get out of my way Dojo before I decide to sell you to Guan!

[thats…all I have but needless to say: the kids manage to run off with Dryas, but only just, as Chase fights Dojo and then they end up with a similar situation to the show back out in the arctic where Omi faces off against Dryas having spent this episode learning for Klofang~]

Discovered in Russia in 1890, the Shigir Idol is one of the oldest known wooden sculptures, dating to approximately 12,000 years ago. It was found in a peat bog, which had preserved it.

The sculpture is 2.8 metres high, but its original height is thought to have been 5 metres or more. It was carved from a larch tree (approximately 159 years old at the time) using the jaws of a beaver and stone tools. On it are faces, hands, and zigzag lines.

It was apparently placed upright next to a lake before it fell into the bog, thus preserving it for over 12,000 years.

According to Thomas Terberger, a scholar of prehistory at Göttingen University in Germany:

“The idol was carved during an era of great climate change, when early forests were spreading across a warmer late glacial to postglacial Eurasia. The landscape changed, and the art—figurative designs and naturalistic animals painted in caves and carved in rock—did, too, perhaps as a way to help people come to grips with the challenging environments they encountered.”

It is currently on display in the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore in Russia.

To the anon that wanted a character missing a limb: you might like Dryas!

Unfortunately he’s not playable (and not necessarily because of his injury that caused him to lose his arm, and they make that clear with how he goes down swinging so the men he’s leading can escape) but he’s a great character, a good tactician, and a vital part of how Leif comes to understand his role in the world; plus he has some toxic old man Yaoi moments with August… I sincerely hope that if August can get in to Heroes, he can too!
