The cracked surface you see here is dried mud from a lake that is steadily drying up. Once a thriving ecosystem filled with water and life, it's now a stark reminder of how environmental changes impact our natural landscapes. Each fracture in the mud tells a story of receding waters and an uncertain future for the flora and fauna that depend on it.

nationalparks.nsw.gov.au ....ancient Mungo National Park at the heart of NSW's Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area. This extraordinary place is of great significance to the Ngyiampaa, Mutthi Mutthi and Southern Paakantyi people.

Mungo Lady and Mungo Man, found resting just meters apart, were buried more than 42,000 years ago on Lake Mungo’s shores. The planet’s oldest ritual burials, Mungo Lady was cremated, Mungo Man adorned with ochre. They represent the early emergence of human spiritual beliefs and provide a glimpse into the care provided to kin through Australia’s deep history. Along with 20,000-year-old fossil human footprints, they tell an incredible story of First Australians’ long history, and led to the establishment of Mungo National Park.

artgallery.nsw.gov.au In 1944 Drysdale was commissioned by the Sydney Morning Herald to record the effect of serious drought conditions in western New South Wales. The publication of his drawings led to recognition of his great skill as a draughtsman, while his extraordinary experience also inspired a series of paintings epitomized by Walls of China 1945, a nightmarish vision of dead trees evoking the sculptural forms of Henry Moore amidst a deep red tonal landscape dominated by barren scorched earth.

A flash flood sweeps the camp, killing Fuzzybush, Daydapple, Dandelionpaw, Shywhisker, Aspendeer, Jumblestripe, Gullflick, Copseshiver, Hayspot, and Garliccrash.

In the chaos, Fallingspark goes missing and is later found dead outside of the camp.

Yellowtalon confesses to Springsprout but is rejected.

Canopytail recovers from her infection in time to have 3 kits. Loudkit - Ginger tabby molly with heather blue eyes, troublesome, active imagination. Dappledkit - Ginger tabby molly with copper eyes, attention seeker, picky nest builder. Honeykit - Ginger bengal tom with yellow eyes, lonesome, active imagination.

A sick kittypet is found and brought to the clan. Apex - Black and white tom with amber eyes and long fur, 29 moons, lonesome, great storyteller, good mediator.

In the aftermath of the flood, a greencough epidemic sweeps the clan, killing Branchwillow, Goldkit, Dogblossom, Webbelly, and Drylake.

Racetrack Playa is a scenic dry lake that is almost perfectly flat and almost always dry. It is fairly large, about 3 miles long (north to south), 2 miles wide (east to west) and situated 3608 feet above sea level. Racetrack Playa is located in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, USA. This strange and amazing geological place is famous for its many rocks that move.

Note Knight had his personal Rolex GMT-master Pepsi wristwatch strapped over his left forearm. I’ve never tried this myself so I can only hazard a guess, but it seems to be a state of balance between mental preparation, equipment readiness and proper technique. I often wonder what goes through drivers minds as they sit at the start line moments before leaving. I can only assume that it’s much like any professional athlete; pre-visualization, mental checklist and focus on the end goal, but that’s only a guess.
