The Increase of Secret Jikooker's?
Rose is a Karmy from 2019 who gave brilliant insights into Jikook from kside’s point of view. During one of her Periscope Lives, she admitted that there are more Jikooker’s out there than we know of. However, they are scared of blacklash to embrace our part of the fandom. Especially with their main accounts publically. Therefore, they talk more privately. Ever since, I was intrigued by the idea of there being more Jikooker’s out there than we know of and it’s something that I’ve seen more over the years.
A good friend of mine used to run a Hobi account. Though they went on “rest” during the pandemic and we haven't spoken since. You wouldn’t know it by their posts, but they were actually a Jikooker behind the scenes. I understood and respected their decision to keep things strictly related to their account on Timeline though, so we just gushed about Jikook in the DM’s instead. One day, they accidentally retweeted one of my threads on their main account. They were really worried about the reaction they would get, but overall the response was positive. It was a surprise and it actually encouraged them to post a bit more about Jikook every now and then.
Whilst taking screenshots for the Live Reactions series, I will often see conversations between Army who strictly keep their accounts a certain way. Not an ounce of Jikookery, but they clearly know their stuff and are passionate about them. There’s been times I’ve wanted to quote them hyping up certain moments, because it's just so sweet to witness these conversations between them. However, I’m aware that they would want to keep their conversations to themselves. They wouldn't want them to be broadcasted. It’s also why I don’t include any usernames in the screenshots taken, just to keep them safe. Something else to note is that the majority of screenshots taken for the Live Reactions series, aren't from Jikook signposted accounts themselves.
I always encourage talking about Jikook, either publicly or privately. This is because I wish for them to be remembered well, as it's what they deserve. I understand that some are turned off by all the “shipping fights.'' But, if given the chance, they do enjoy these type of conversations. It also helps to show Jikook’s bond beyond our own audience. There are plenty out there that recognize how close they are, they just might have a smaller following that gets drowned out by all the hate. You can also tell when those with a bigger following are somewhat secret Jikooker’s.
At the end of the day, there are those out there that see something close between Jikook. Either romantically or platonically. Not everyone knows a person's thoughts behind the screen and not everyone feels confident enough to post things online publically about them. Personally I will continue to keep posting about them, so that anyone can see their moments together. This might spark an interest of Jikook in someone. You never know who could be reading your words about Jikook and learning more about their bond by doing so.

Can I poke the bear for a moment and get angry? Because I'm seeing "posting as activism" more and more in fandom spaces, and tonight I saw a post that made me lose it.
There is a post about (current events) going around that says, "full offense, but in this time, your own comfort doesn't fucking matter, you should be uncomfortable about things that are happening, and I hope you can fucking live with yourselves if you are quiet. It takes five seconds to retweet or reblog, fuck your aesthetic, fuck your anything aesthetic."
And my god. How dare they.
Yes, there is severely fucked up shit happening. Yes, people should be aware that people are being killed. Yes, there are people who are just shrugging about it and pissing off. But how does reblogging a post certify someone as Good or Bad? How does this person know that someone hasn't already helped out meaningfully in some way, or is still helping out, but on other websites? How does this person know that someone isn't barely holding on by the skin of their teeth, and they would have a mental breakdown if they got closer to any more stressful things?
I know a multitude of people, including myself, who have recently either needed to call lines, check into facilities, move back in with their parents, or go on medication because of how insane things have become in their own lives. How does this person not understand that blogging; being on tumblr; engaging in fandom, having a small space that someone can control in its entirety, is a reprieve for people who are already at their wit's end outside of that space? And that's okay.
(We are not doing the relative privation shit in this house. I refuse to entertain that.)
Ironically, by insisting that people participate in sharing posts when they're already stressed and exhausted, that's a surefire way to make their problems worse, and potentially prevent them from acting helpfully in the future because suddenly, their exhaustion turns into full-blown burnout. That's how it works. Professionals tell you to dial things back if you are too overwhelmed. There is a reason for that. There is a limit to how much people can mentally process and handle. Compassion fatigue exists. For a lot of us, we are already at our limit. We need space to relax, and not have arbitrary obligations thrown on us. That is not our fault, it is not a character flaw, it does not mean we are bad people. And just because horrific things are happening elsewhere, it does not mean we can, or should, stop taking care of ourselves first. Yes, it feels shitty to think, "you know what, I can't reblog this". You bet your ass that I and my friends feel guilty about not being able to engage as much as we think we should, but that is how it goes. I can put my head underwater for a bit. But I cannot keep my head underwater forever. I will drown.
Not to mention the obvious part: guilt-tripping people to the extent of implying they are somehow contributing to genocide, just because they won't reblog a post, and implying they should not be able to live with themselves if they do that, is beyond revolting.
I am angry, and I am not sorry.
--
So many of those kinds of posts—and they turn up during every set of horrific real world events—sound like people who are in a country far away from the events, diaspora at most but probably just randos, venting their impotent rage because it's the only way they can feel productive in a situation where nothing they can do is productive.

What about George when his girl is insecure?
oh, he'd be the sweetest. you cannot tell me otherwise. he's a big old softy when it comes to her feeling insecure...
"oi, you. why are you hiding in here?"
yn tears her attention away from her phone and she directs her eyes over to the bedroom door, the quietness of the room being broken by her boyfriend's hushed voice. his head being all she could see as he peered into his bedroom, with the door being kept ajar so she could still hear the commotion of arthur's housewarming party from down the hallway, loud music and heavy chatter bouncing off the walls.
with a spare room going at george's, with arthur hill and chris taking the other two, they had offered it out to 'mister television' and it was an offer he took kindly. immediately making the flat his own from the moment he had started moving in.
"i just needed a bit of peace," yn replies softly, "everything okay?"
george nods softly and steps into the room, a bottle of peroni in his hand and, as he sat down beside her, she could smell the booze on his breath; intoxicating to her because there was something about drunk george that she couldn't get enough of. the way his eyes would darken after each beer, the way his lips got wetter and wetter, the way his hands would wander her body... it was something special and she longed for a night out where the two of them could let loose.
except, this night, she just wasn't feeling it.
she just wasn't feeling herself.
her relationship with george had been common knowledge for over a year now, his followers welcoming her in with open arms and the sweetest of messages, and she thought she'd gotten lucky in barely coming across any hate and messages that were simply posted out of pure jealousy and rage... until that morning, when she was sat at the kitchen island in george's flat, scrolling through her twitter and her instagram on her laptop and spooning porridge into her mouth, taking advantage of the quiet flat before any of the boys had woken up.
and, for some reason, the majority of her 'recommended' tweets were about her. the top comments showing on her most recent instagram post were hateful towards the way she looked. the most retweeted and the most liked comments were about how george should be with someone else because she was boring and holding him back from his career.
'anyone else feeling bored of her now? george needs someone better'
'george isn't so active on here anymore... we haven't had a video from him for months. single him was so much better'
'him and gkbarry were my endgame. i hate how yn came into his life and ruined the dream'
'she's so ugly... why her?'
she knew that reading one bad tweet would drown out the majority of the nicer comments but those comments were hard to ignore. if they were said out of spite, and if they were said to hurt her, then they were achieving exactly that... and it was silly because they were from online outlets.
"is that really the reason?"
"what?"
"that you needed some peace. baby, you've been off with me all day," george states, his bottle of beer being placed on the bedside table next to his side of the bed, freeing both hands so he could hold hers tightly, "if something is bothering you, you can tell me."
"i know," she smiles softly and he leaves the space beside her and kneels down in front of her, resting his arms on her thighs and her hands being kept in his tight hold, "i know i can."
"then talk to me."
she lifts her head from her lap and she can feel her chin wobbling as soon as she made eye contact with his eyes, concern and confusion flooding his orbs as he sees her demeanour drop from her usual self. the bubbly personality having gone missing that day. no jokes being shared, she didn't tease arthur for something he'd said, chris couldn't even make her laugh and she didn't break into song with arthur hill when she saw him.
"what's happened?"
"i just," she huffs out a heavy and shaky breath, her head rolling back and she looks up to the ceiling, "people are so mean online, george."
"i thought we spoke about not going looking for those kinds of tweets and messages," he reminds her, his thumb rubbing over her knuckles in a soothing manner, "there's no point getting sucked in to the hate and the negative tones on social media. blacklist the words."
"but i didn't go looking," she states, "they were just there. right when i opened twitter this morning. on my instagram. people were saying you could do better than me. that i'm ugly. that i'm stopping you from doing your job. it just made me feel bad. insecure, almost. like, i know you can have anyone you like. just look at you."
he tuts and shakes his head, a displeasing look on his features and he squeezes her hands in hopes she would look at him in the eye. which she did. in a manner that was slow and cautious because she knew she was being silly, dealing dramatically with the situation, yet she just couldn't help it. she had feelings and when they got too much, she just needed a relief in letting them out before she felt better.
"george-"
"you have nothing to be insecure about, alright? i love you," he says with the cheesiest grin on his lips, "i love you. always. everything that i do, it's done so that i can spoil you and take you away with me and treat you so well. not them."
"but-"
"no," he interrupts her and stops her from continuing, bringing up a finger to hold against her lips, "you're gorgeous. you're beautiful. you are my favourite person in the entire world, okay? yeah, they may have gotten me into this whole crazy dream of mine but, i get to live that dream with you."
her heart triples in size, thumping hard in her chest, and her lips curve into a smile against his finger.
"i'm so lucky to have you, baby. my number one fan, my number one tiktok commenter, my number one."
"that was cheesy," she murmurs and he rolls his eyes, standing to his feet and holding his hands out, "you know i'm going to tell them you just said that."
"don't," he warns her, pulling her to her feet and bringing her to his chest, her cheek resting against the t-shirt on his upper body and his lips pressing against her forehead, "you ready to come back out? the others have been asking for you."
she nods and looks up at him, standing on her tiptoes and placing a kiss to his lips.
"i love you too, by the way."
short and sweet for our georgey boy there. thank you for sending this in! i do love a bit of fluffy and boyfriend-y george fics - he just screams simp for his girlfriend, you can't tell me otherwise. xx

So, i followed a chinese tech account on twitter for a while that shared her perspective on why you see a lot of overt nationalism exhibited by chinese people on western social media.
which is that if you're a chinese national with like, nuanced views on china (aka: it is neither purely good nor purely evil) then discussing china on western social media is a miserable experience. because saying anything remotely positive about any aspect of the country will have you drowning in accusations of being a ccp shill, or a fake propaganda account. so a lot of those people just don't bother. why the fuck would you? deal with a vpn and a second language and for what? discussing the more politically delicate topics is a game of double speak to avoid issues with the government, and on the other side is a bunch of westerners who will claim you aren't a real person because you said your local market is nice.
and i saw this play out on her account constantly! any vaguely positive statement, there would be multiple replies and quote retweets insisting her account was ccp propaganda, despite the fact that she was routinely critical of the government. she at one point flat out discussed how she was increasingly considering leaving china, but wouldn't do it because her uyghur girlfriend couldn't access a passport. she discussed how a western media outlet outing her put her in danger. she didn't draw the lines for people (eg, my gf cant get a passport Because she's uyghur, being Out as a public figure here is not safe) but she put the dots incredibly close.
but, you know. she could speak english, and was a woman in tech, and she didn't declare every single aspect of her country a dystopian nightmare, so a ton of people decided she couldn't be an actual person.
(also i realized im using past tense, she's not dead, but she did explicitly state that she'd finally toed the line too hard, and her social media presence was being significantly pared down as a consequence. the tipping point seemed to be her being very vocal about a homophobic hate crime that had occurred and received limited coverage.)
God, yeah, all that sounds like a nightmare. I feel very sorry for her.

I was drinking rooh afza today cus it was so hot and it reminded me of hobat SOO also viper i found ur tt acc>:) Daily Hobie HC! Week four, day three Hobie clung onto your shoulder, nestling himself comfortably under your shirt, relishing in the softness and warmth of your skin, as well as the fabric on top of him. He watched as you carefully piped icing onto some halloween-themed pumpkin spice cookies, rubbing his fuzzy head up and down against your neck, tickling you slightly as the tip of his tongue stuck out to spare some light licks on your skin. He lets out a few chirps of mischief, his way of laughing in bat form as you shook your head, shaking him slightly as a playful warning to stop tickling you. He flies off from your neck, making his new position of comfort on top of your head, looking down and watching as your fingers firmly squeezed the piping bag, keeping a consistent thickness to the outlines, before filling it in. You were currently doing the first bat shaped cookie, which Hobie had claimed that it was his to try. He flew down to your wrist, placing his hands(?) on top of the piping bag, moving along with your movement, as if he was helping you. Hobie hides a smirk as he feels your eyes fondly roll at him, watching as you shake the cookie slightly to level out the icing, before setting it on one of the trays to set. You had given it green eyes instead of white ones, which meant that it was easily distinguishable as Hobie's. You put down the piping back for a moment, taking a quick break before your fingers begin to cramp. Hobie gazes up happily at you, his big brown eyes practically sparkling as you cradle him in your hands. He chirps as you gently press a flurry of kisses to his face, looking completely lovestruck as you pull away, moving to cling to the collar of your shirt and pull his way up to your neck once more. Hobie murmurs about how he loves when you practically drown him in your love, hugging onto your neck and playfully nipping at your earrings, which were dangly bat ones. He tugs on them slightly, playing with them and making sure it wasn't irritating you too badly. As your hand came up to affectionately scratch him a little, he takes your finger and licks the pad of your index, his form of kisses in his little bat form. Hobie continues to watch you pipe icing onto multiple witches hats, pumpkins, ghosts and bat pumpkin spice cookies, occasionally napping either in the crook of your neck or on top of your head. (Or in your bra if you got them) Once you finished piping them all, you let the icing set for a bit before eating, gently stirring Hobie awake to tell him the progress. He yawns, his large eyes sparkling at the progress you've made. Hobie's little bat feet clutch onto your shirt, pulling you away from the edge of the counter to the middle of the kitchen. As black mist shrouded the bat, a tall, lanky Hobartholomew Larry Brown stood in the bat's place, holding you close as he peppered kisses all over your face in between praise about how they all look so delicious. After a few minutes of Hobie's teasing appreciation, leading to a lot of head-spinning kisses and a few nips which may have left a light mark, you check on the cookies once more, Hobie perched on your shoulder. The icing had set properly, giving the cookies the final look it needed to be spooky. You pick out Hobie's bat pumpkin spice cookie and hand it to him, chuckling as he eagerly pulled it away from your fingers with his mouth, a muffled 'thank you darling' coming from his cookie-stuffed face. -🐦‍⬛
Oohh what is rooh afza?
Lmaoo at first I thought you found mine which seems impossible bc I'm on private 🤣🤣 (I just retweet art on there lol)
Daily Hobie HC ❤️❤️❤️
I raised a brow at his lil lick thinking he's in regular tall form but now I understand now that he's actually in bat form 😂😂
He loves watching you bake awww!!!!!
Him 'helping' you is the cutest ever 😻
What a coinkidink! I just got a pair of bat earrings!!
Akznkwznkwkdnw him crawling all over R's shirt 🥰

[Image Description; Twitter screenshot. A quote retweet from @ zayoncerry. “I’ve been seeing tweets trying to villainize middle easterners use of “martyrs’ or “shaheed”, here’s who we call martyrs in islam:
An image follows, “Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “There are seven kinds of martyrs besides those killed in wars, defending the cause of Allah:
A person who is killed in an epidemic
A person who is drowned
A person who has bedsores, causing fever and cough resulting in his death
A person who dies of a stomach disease
A person who dies in fire
A person who dies under falling debris [in a disaster]
A woman who dies during childbirth.”
The quote retweeted post from @ zedonarrival reads: “the islamic use of martyr is making people tremble and piss their pants in the same way allahu akbar did and still does”]

Elsewhere on the internet: The media & how to stay informed in 2025 without drowning in despair or disinformation:
US immigration is gaming Google to create a mirage of mass deportations: (by Dara Kerr at The Guardian, Feb 2025)
Manipulating search results to make old ICE raids look like new raids
The lawyer noticed a strange pattern. In almost every state, at least one press release from Ice’s website appeared in Google’s top results. Nebraska, for example, surfaced links for two press releases. One said “ICE executes federal search warrants in Nebraska”, the other said “ICE fugitive operations team arrests 44 absconders”. Both displayed their dates of publication as 24 January 2025 on Google search. But when the lawyer clicked through to the report, the actual dates of publication were August 2018 and June 2008, respectively.
Countering Musk's DOGE Theft: The importance of repetition: (by Jason Sattler at FrameLab, Feb 2025)
The power of repetition extends beyond mere memorization. Each time a frame is activated, it strengthens the words and the entire conceptual structure they represent. When Trump repeats “winning,” he's not just emphasizing victory — he's reinforcing a worldview where everything is a zero-sum competition. Each repetition helps make this framework increasingly natural and automatic for listeners. This mechanism becomes even more powerful in our current media environment. “The news,” as we knew it in the 20th century, just does not exist anymore. Tens of millions of people primarily get their messages from social media or from loved ones who get them through social media. Like our brains, social media is swayed by repetitions – reposts, shares, and views. Each share, retweet, and viral moment creates another repetition, another brain activation. Repetition matters.
America’s Right-Wing Propaganda Problem Might Be Terminal: (by Karl Bode, Dame Magazine, Jan 2025)
Much of “new media” isn’t any better. Recent data from the Pew Research Center found that 40% of Americans under 40 now get their news from online influencers. More than half of those influencers are right-wing men, in part because there’s plenty of money to be made telling millions of people that greed, racism, and sexism are decidedly good things. Republicans have long since cultivated a massive Spanish-language propaganda apparatus Democrats have no answer for.

There's certain type of terminally online rw type that I am overly weary of but it's been pretty consistent with those who underneath the repulsive trite slurs and sinfully ugly wojak retweets is a creative soul trapped in a spiritually and artistically barren wasteland of a life capable of actual joy ,care, individual thought, and acceptance.
All their hyper callous hate could've been negated simply by them not being stuck in their position within this dull grey drowning field talked down to by empty soul order barkers and smarmy "polite society" dictators who thrive within the poisoned pecking order of modern liberal American society.
Then there's others in the same terminally online realms as them who are just vile inside and out, the only way to describe them is what happens when you cross all the belligerent blind hate and cruelty of a school shooter with the insufferable sheltered opinions of a young republican Sunday school debate club dweeb you pick at the surface and find nothing creative or worthwhile underneath no matter how hard you try.

I can finally share this qijiu piece I contributed to the qijiu zine. The zine is free and you can check the link here.
This is a bit late since the release of the zine was last August 18. I retweeted the post and all but forgot to share my piece. The theme of the zine is red string of fate so we had to consider this when thinking of what to submit. I really had a lot of difficulties while trying to think about what to draw. Most of the pieces others submitted are concentrated on AUs; universes where qijiu meet and fall in love over and over again. When you read the zine, you'll definitely feel this way; that indeed they are connected by the red string of fate because, in those many lives, they are still together and in love/care about each other.
My piece though is not an AU. It is my interpretation of the red string of fate that binds qijiu in relation to their dynamic in canon.
Shen Jiu, in his heart of hearts, and in his own way clings to YueQi. His Qige is the only person he can whole-heartedly say in his tsundere way that he cares about. That's the reason why I had him hold the moon. The moon represents YueQi.
Like the moon, YueQi, for Shen Jiu is hard to reach. His light is the only thing that dazzles the dark waters that surround Shen Jiu. The feeling he feels towards YueQi is threatening to drown him. But it's fine. He believes this is limit. He doesn't value himself to consider that maybe Qige feels the same way about him, that's why, I drew YueQingyuan embracing him as if to console him and remind him that he is loved. That they both care about each other in the same way.
While I enjoyed doing this piece, I really had a hard time painting this. My paint tool sai was literally dying on me because of the number of layers I had. XD
I'm really thankful for the mods of this zine for organizing this project.

you had no idea why the hell you did it… but you did.
you: hey
him: …do we know each other?
you: do we have to in order to talk?
him: do you often slide into random stranger’s dms?
you: it’s my first time believe it or not.
katsuki didn’t know why he was continuing to converse with this stranger. he rarely even opened dms, so he’s not exactly sure why he decided to answer you let alone open your dm.
you: aw cmon. don’t stop responding now!
a loud sigh left your lips as you felt like your random stranger was going to stop talking to you. guess you shouldn’t have worked yourself up over the prospect of someone talking to you. especially this stranger.
you: listen, i know this seems weird. i just want to talk. that’s it. i could really use someone to talk to right now.
you: i’m just… tired of everyone in my life.
you: please. we can just be strangers that have conversations. that’s all.
your face scrunched up feeling slightly embarrassed about having begged someone to talk to you. you were sure this guy thought you were so pathetic. you clicked your phone off and set it aside deciding to drown your thoughts and feelings in something you could find to watch (although you knew it wasn’t really going to help).
him: did you have anything in mind?
you squealed when you heard your phone ping, immediately seeing the message from your random stranger.
you: i can’t believe you actually responded!
him: me either. hurry up before i change my mind.
katsuki couldn’t deny that your proposal was pretty enticing. if he was honest, he didn’t have anyone to talk to either. he was lonely, though he’d never admit it. he didn’t have anyone he could have a deep, honest, and open connection with.
the anonymity of this would allow him to be vulnerable in a way where he didn’t really have to worry about his insecurity or perception.
neither of you even knew what the other really looked like. both profiles bare aside from one or two photos that neither of you were in. the only info he had on you was that your pronouns were she/her, you were in your 20s, and some super basic things you were interested in (based on the things you retweeted). it really didn’t give any info.
you, on the other hand, knew even less about him. aside from the two things in bio—his gender and age—his page was basically blank. the only reason you knew his page was even active due to his “likes” page. and even then, there wasn’t anything notable there.
you: okay! speaking in terms of your essence, would you be a fork, spoon, or a knife?
what the actual fuck did katsuki get himself into?

Something I need to just vent: I'm half Jewish and half something US leftists have no trouble understanding as oppressed. I feel like I'm being torn in two. First there are the people from my non-Jewish half, which is, yeah, really fucking antisemitic. There's the garden-variety "fucking kikes deserved it" shit, but I am also fucking drowning in "well obvs we stand w/ the Palestinians" version that went to college, skimmed Fanon, and thinks every struggle is exactly the same. And they all want to pretend the rampant anitsemitism they were all raised with doesn't feed into it, but of course it does. These big name Twitter users of my bg pretty it up with blah blah decolonization isn't a metaphor, but they will never say the whole truth, which is that they visit home and break bread with parents who just say Jews are Satanic pieces of shit with their whole chest. Then there's my fucking idiot white friends who parrot it all. They don't know what's being carefully hidden from them, and if someone showed them, they'd bend over backwards to insist it was somehow totally justified. They know who the Good Guys are, and obviously it's not those loud, greedy, cruel Christ-kil-oh oooooops, I mean Israelis!!! And they're just rushing to like and retweet what the idiots from my other half have to say. They don't question why their pet issue isn't, say, Hawaiian independence, which they might have some weight in as Americans. They don't wonder why they don't give as much of a shit about tribal sovereignty. Hating Jews -- oops, Israelis! -- just feels somehow so much more satisfying and righteous, and whooo could possssibly say why? Definitely not those vicious settler colonialist Jews who just see Jew-hatred everywhere for SOME crazy made-up reasons. And I'm just here, alone. I don't want to act like my non-Jewish half has it easy; it doesn't. But on the left, at least there's like .... the *etiquette* of people pretending to support us, to sit down and listen, to acknowledge they probably have biases. But Jews....everyone just fucking hates us. All my life, I've felt the pressure from gentile people on the left (which is dominant where I'm from in MA) to only care about my gentile half, to only identify with it. I resist it every day, but it's so. hard. A secret I can only whisper here: Both my sides struggle. But I'm only ever truly afraid for my life as a Jewish person. That's the one that feels like it could get me killed. That's the one that I feel tempted to hide. I wear my chai, but sometimes, when I'm on the T and someone seems like they're staring, I panic and want to hide it. Maybe I'm wrong. But I know there's a significant chance I'm not. Especially when they're clearly from my other half, I know exactly what the fuck they're thinking. And I have nowhere to say it, except a stranger's askbox. Am Yisrael chai, motherfuckers.
I very much hope you stay safe, and am sorry you feel so unsupported by your friends.
I know what that is like. None of my actual goyische friends have said anything hostile, but most of them haven't said anything at all. I know it sounds minor but the days and days of posts of Mr. Rogers saying to look for the helpers, or Gandalf saying nobody wants to live through these times, the usual rounds of virtuous signals, are unmissably absent. And the friends-of-friends are pure violent garbage, which makes me wonder if my friends would have hated and rejected me as a Jew if they'd met me for the first time now and not when we were kids. Have had MULTIPLE friends-of-friends declare that the Israeli civilians weren't civilians, they were colonizers who can't be civilians and who all deserved it ("it" to include rape and infanticide). Every last one of those friends-of-friends are white Americans.
Please keep wearing the chai.

"This Is The Thanks I Get?!" (Fanmade Reprise)

(Note: I haven't decided whether or not this follows the same flow as the original. I do think it gets faster towards the end, though. I'm probably deleting this later because I am NOT a good songwriter.)
I can't help it if you can't follow the rules,
I'm the king! I don't submit to mundane fools.
I made your world, but I give while you take
If you want a wish granted, beware the choices you make.
So this is the thanks I get?
Running around in circles for you,
Drowning in all your requests
The thanks I get! Is treason and disrespect
You're heads in the clouds, you can't see
Your dreams will never be able to fly free
You'll never succeeded to be all you can be
Because you all went and turned your backs on me!
This is the thanks I get?!
I deserve a lot more than this
When do I get my own wish?
The thanks I get! Is a legacy you all neglect
Oh, has Asha become your new leader?
You want her 'cause you *think* you need her!
Those wishes won't make you think deeper
'Cause all you want is a mindreader!
So this is the thanks I get...
And to those retweeting: DO NOT share spoilers!

Hot Take: "Equal Fights" Predicted Online Faketivism
Tumblr media
In some ways "Equal Fights" hasn't aged well in its effort to teach about feminism, that the execution wasn't handled as well as it could have been & that it wound up painting the feminists as straw men stereotypes. Rumor has it that even Lauren Faust, who did storyboards on the episode, isn't a fan of it in hindsight.
However this episode feels a lot more relevant to me now in our current age of online purity culture.
We live in an age of social media where young people, who had little to no power before, now have a tool at their fingertips to signal boost for those who need help the most. Teenagers can be everyday heroes in their own right. Frankly I respect you kids for being motivated in your sense of kindness & nobility.
However the problem is that unfortunately what good that can actually be done gets drowned out by a lot of harassment & bullying in the name of social justice. Especially if these young people's sources are very dubious & self-serving.
That's basically what Femme Fatale is as a character. She's a grifter who uses a progressive movement, feminism in this case, as her means for her own gain. Namely, robbing banks.
It's understandable that every super villain has a gimmick. Two-Face has the Number 2 & duality, FF could've just been a devious collector of currency with women imprinted on them. (I myself wish they would discontinue the bulky, useless penny & bring back the Sacagawea dollar.) But beyond that, she uses it as an excuse to get out of getting arrested, to claim that what she's doing is good for society at large, & above all to manipulate & influence the young & impressionable Powerpuff Girls.
The girls, being literal children, take her words to heart & implement them in ways that do more harm than good. From bullying boys in the schoolyard to letting Femme Fatale get away with her crimes.
Reminds me an awful lot of kids & young people on Tumblr & Twitter who get riled up by the words of self-proclaimed progressives who turn out to be TERFs, grifters, or members of the Leopards Eating My Face Party. Namely, the people who use progressivism & online activism to their own end.
And it's not just the Youtubers with the large subscriber base. It's also the individuals who reblog, retweet & bully even on a small scale to make themselves look good or feel like they're making a difference. Not to mention the burner & bot accounts being used to fan the flames of discord within progressive circles.
But what I find the most telling is that FF claims to be a feminist, she collects Susan B. Anthony coins, but she doesn't even know who Susan B. even was & why she was so important to American history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reminds me an awful lot of certain gay or trans Youtubers who would try to have you believe that "queer" is a slur, when in reality we not only reclaimed it as an umbrella term to include bisexual, trans, intersex, asexual, etc. people, but is an important part of our very history.
The slogan chanted demanding our basic human rights:
"We're here, we're queer
Get used to it."
It makes me sick that there are multiple generations of people who don't understand our own history. That there are people within our community who would promote & capitalize on that ignorance.
That's who Femme Fatale is. Willingly ignorant herself, selfish, manipulative, & would promote such lack of values to the next generation for her own gain.
And that's why she deserves to serve time in prison, while online faketivist grifters deserve to lose followers, go broke, & disappear into obscurity so they can't do any more damage.
