I vividly remember someone in season 1 (I think it was Rosé) suggesting that the entire murder case in Crescent Hill was a play and Jancy hired actors to pull all of this off.
That was more so based on the fact that no one apart from Lotta seemed distressed about Soren's death and no one was really all that helpful in solving the case. Jancy's response (in my spotty recollection) was something along the lines of "I am very fond of the three of you, but not that fond to go through all that trouble."
I love how in season 3, Jancy did exactly that.
Actually, she is that fond of those three idiots. But it's highly unlikely she'll ever tell them outright xD
Julia takes notes. Most likely a lot of notes. Thank you Julia, your effort is seen and deeply appreciated <3

Trying not to speculate about season 3 stuff yet because I don't want to hype myself up for stuff that might not happen, but Drawtectives brainrot is still happening so I'm focusing it on the Justice siblings instead:
- Harper and Emery both think rich people suck because when they were little at Old Rich People Parties they would overhear them insult Sorin for marrying "a lowly thief" and they'd start a fight.
- The "hating my rich parents" thing didn't show up until Teenage Rebellion years.
- Harper was absolutely in denial about not caring that her dad was dead. And then she found out that Emery did it and it got worse.
- Deep down Harper is scared that her casually complaining about Sorin to Emery all the time somehow made him think it was okay to kill his dad, and she's even more scared thinking she could have ended up like him.
- Harper always goes with Lotta to visit Emery in jail and ends up doing most of the talking because Lotta is too upset usually.
ANYWAY less depressing kinda:
- Emery and Harper are both gay but Weird About It
- Emery was always kinda in the closet because he was already getting singled out as Sorin's kid and he didn't want to be weirder. Going out East made it even worse because he fell in with a bunch of "manly man" ranger types (think Gaston) who were always chasing women, so he would also go after women but then blame them when he inevitably couldn't find them attractive.
- Harper on the other hand isn't in denial about liking girls but doesn't bring it up much either. I imagine there were like some older girls in high school she quietly crushed on that hung out with her but then it turned out they were only trying to get good with Soren so they could get ahead in the police academy and really they found Harper super annoying and that kinda made Harper adverse to dating.
- So Harper likes girls in theory but in reality she can't talk to normal people good so she just avoids flirts and pretends she has really high standards.
- Like she's fully aware Rose is flirting with her, and she thinks Rose is cute, she just doesn't know how to respond to it. Because most people who hit on her are trying to get clout or are turned off once they have a conversation with her but Rose is neither? So she just kinda ignores it.
- Maybe was also kinda peer pressured before into thinking her parents were gonna expect her to marry a man and produce heirs before S1, and only now feels comfortable being more open about it?
- Anyway she also secretly writes fanfic online as a way to process and cope with her repressed feelings she doesn't want to admit to having.
(Also they have a cousin named Solar Justice but that's a silly crossover thingy so it's getting its own post)
#drawtectives#drawfee#rose drawtectives#harper justice#is there a rose x harper tag or ship name im missing idk#look i just really like family drama and redemption arcs okay

Care to elaborate on the Nancy theory? 👀👀👀👀 My bets for the murderer are on a wild train
Yeah so okay lets go lets do this.
Jancy True Killed Soren Justice: The Theory
"Why would Jancy True kill Soren Justice, Clyde? It makes no sense!" Well, my dear reader, you are correct. She has no motivation, at least not to our knowledge. But like, hear me out here, we don't have all the information yet, she may have a motivation yet!
Instead of talking about the actual logistics of the murder and how it happened, I first want to cover why Jancy True would hire three schmucks to work for the agency/solve the mystery if she was the one who did it. This is simple: It’s a willy wonka play. She’s gonna give the agency to whoever figures it out, because once she gets caught she’s going to jail right? and yes, even going to jail for murder, Jancy True is more prideful than anything, evidenced by the fact that she boasts being a incredibly skilled detective. SOMEONE has to run the agency if she gets locked up, and with this method she'll find the perfect schmuck to deal with it. can’t believe I called them schmucks twice in the same paragraph. Okay lets get to the actual theory here.
Given that Jancy is friends/on good terms with the police we meet, it's not out of the question that she's helped Soren Justice in the past, it's not out of the question she knew about the secret do-gooder ring. This is personal! I’m almost certain she calls Soren a friend in the first episode, but I might be misremembering that. That doesn't explain why, but it does explain how she got in. So how did she 1. get in and 2. slip in and out of the party completely unnoticed, with none of the guests spotting her leading her silly detectives around and asking what she was up to? Soren let her in himself. She wasn’t on the list because Soren intended to use her to sniff out the traitor in his midst! She was let in on the balcony when he went to go get the alcohol, but little did Soren know that she was the traitor all along! But what about the knife? what about the knife clyde, how did she get the knife? well, that’s the thing. The knife was a red herring dealt with AFTER Soren was dead! She killed him with the sword in her cane! Further evidence is that she’s convinced she’s solved it without even seeing the crime scene! How could she have done that if it wasn’t her, or at the very least someone she was in cahoots with! There’s a lot of “world renowned” people at this party, it’s not out of the question that Jancy knew some of them! anyway that’s about it. yeehaw!

Spoilers for S1 obviously
I was thinking “I’m gonna do socialist readings for my favourite shows, let start with Drawtectives.”
Except then I noticed it literally has a plot about workers rights and how the upper class views itself. Like it is not even trying to be subtle with it:
Drawtectives is a Socialist Webseries
We begin with the murder itself. Sorin Justice is killed by Emery Justice, his son, due to his money troubles, and the fact that his father refused to assist him again.
Emery
Emery Justice is shown to be a very spoiled man who believes he just sort of deserves everything due to his high status and “skill”, while complaining about his sister lacking in sincere anti-bourgeois activism. This, along with rumours of his troop’s camp being shut down, leads to his being completely flippant with money, and gambling all of it away. He then asked Sorin and Lotta to use their money to set him up at a new job, but they told him he must earn that. He goes on to, as previously mentioned, send a ransom note extorting money out of his parents, and later on decided it was more worth stealing his parent’s wealth, during which Sorin entered the room, and in desperation, Emery killed him with the family knife.
There are already many things to unpack here. First of all, Emery’s personality. He is very full of himself and has a lot of pride in his family, and therefore believes he is entitled to their riches. This is the classic kid-born-into-a-rich-family. Even though his parents had always taught him he needed to earn his share, he still felt entitled to it.
As for that “earning your share” bit. This could be taken in two very opposite directions, and I will defend the one I have chosen later on once we go into Soren and Lotta.
There’s one way it could be interpreted, as a typical capitalist “you must earn all that you make. Money must be earned, not given.” Which is reasonable given the words themselves.
However it could also be taken in the sense that Emery is not improving the lives of those around him, and he doesn’t truly need the money. He’s in gambling debt, not trying to pay his rent. He played too many rounds of poker, it’s not that he’s had too many medical problems lately. He doesn’t truly apply to the need in “to each according to his needs.” And he is not contributing almost anything to his community, so why should this wealth be given to him? This second interpretation is the one I believe Sorin and Lotta intended.
Third we have that special knife which I’ll get to later.
Sorin and Lotta
Sorin and Lotta are probably the most clear examples of socialists in the entirety of the series. They’re part of the Shadow Vault along with Sam Ug and unnamed others, which is an information network focused on the wellbeing of the working class. Jorgan’s and Borgan’s was being investigated by the Shadow Vault due to suspected violations of worker’s rights, with Avis as an informant (is he part of the Shadow Vault? I guess??), this is literally Lotta and Sorin using their positions of wealth to benefit the working class. It cannot get more clear than this.
In fact this was such a big part of their whole deal, that shortly after they married they were contacted by the Shadow Vault themselves.
In fact they have taken down an exploitative company before, probably multiple, as we can see with the family knife, which was made by a group of workers because they wanted to, rather than because they were being payed to. Classic part of socialist philosophy.
Harper
Harper is an interesting case, since she’s an example of the type of socialist who refuses to fully denounce the parts of capitalism that benefit her, at least before the end of Season 1. Much of her character is being smug and spoiled by her parents, but still thinking she’s fighting the system. She steals from rich people, yet still gets bailed out jail, and her parents still use their money to get her out of a sentence. (I’ll touch on this later). She thinks she hates rich people yet she continually uses the benefits of her parents as bourgeoisie to improve her life, and she justifies it as “stealing from the rich”, somehow not realizing she is the rich person. However of course, it seems she’s gotten better in Season 2. She’s fully independent from her family, and ofc is taking care of Harold :)
Problems with the Justice family
Sorin and Lotta may do their best to protect worker’s rights, it is undeniable that they, and their children, are a product of capitalism.
First of all, despite their concern over labour practices, the Justices still hoard mass amounts of valuables. It’s what Emery was trying to steal. They may like fair labour practices but they refused to redistribute.
Emery is, as stated before, a classic case of entitled rich kid. However Lotta states that they got him “the best education”, and they gave him as many resources as possible. Resources that not many people could access clearly. Once again using their wealthy status to benefit their own family instead of trying to redistribute.
Harper is arguably the worst case scenario for a rich family like the Justices. She literally had her parents use their wealth to get her out of punitive action or prison time. This is one of the most clear examples of the bourgeoisie taking advantage of the capitalist system to benefit themselves.
Conclusion
Overall, while there are many socialist themes, and three of the four Justices had good intentions, they all benefited from their wealth. None of them truly did what they could have, and did exploit their wealth for themselves.
However it is also important to note the main conflict in the series (once the mystery was solved), that being a young rich kid who felt entitled to the wealth he grew up with once he had left it murdering his father, who’s entire being in the story centered around worker’s rights.
It may not exactly be capitalism vs socialism, but it’s definitely close to a bourgeoisie vs the proletariat conflict.
Hope you enjoyed reading! Sorry if this post is a mess, I wrote it over the course of like a week and a half 😅

Buckle up here come the headcanons!
Post-Season 1:
The Drawtectives (York, Grendan, and Rosé) share a cozy apartment just as friends. Originally, this was just to save money, but since York started his modelling career, they honestly don't need to split rent anymore. But they enjoy each other's company, so why change things?
Rosé, being a former criminal, had to change her identity somewhat before officially working with P.I. Jancy True. Jancy helped her through this entire process, including legally changing her name to Rosé.
Based on Grendan having a cane in their original design, I headcanon them as being physically disabled! Most days he only needs the cane, but he has a pair of crutches as well. If she ever seriously needs a break, York offers great piggy back rides.
In the aftermath of her father's death and brother's arrest, Harper moved back in with Lotta as well as getting her dog Harold. Despite her attitude seeming much the same, she and her mom have both been healing, especially in their own relationship. Lotta shares stories of her own youth and helps teach Harper more effective ways to "stick it to the man."
Avis developed severe anxiety (in addition to the social anxiety he already had) after not only being in the same house as a man who was murdered but also almost being framed for said murder after police asked him and his young son to stay during interrogations all night. With Jorgens and Borgens going bankrupt, he's also been unemployed. Thankfully, Rosé loves having Ogalvy around and has offered to babysit him during the day so Avis can have a bit of time to apply for jobs and just breathe.
Post-Season 2:
The Drawtectives offer for Eugene to move in with them, and he puts the money from selling his place directly into the Celestial Spear reformation project. They also get a new cat to live, which obviously becomes Eugene's darling immediately.
Lotta donates some of the Justice family's wealth to the Celestial Spear. As thanks, Eugene mailed her a photo of him visiting Soren's spirit in Gareville.
While most of the Celestial Spear's talent return to the physical world (Kingston reunites with his family, Abayomi finally opens her own restaurant and bar like she always dreamed, etc), some of them also decide to stay. Terry/Sharon in particular continues working with Eugene to make the Celestial Spear back into what they had wanted it to be. Harvey also stays, able to perform more over-the-top tricks without serious risk.
Joebeans, still going by Jo these days, reopens her coffee shop in the physical world. Rosé, of course, starts scheming how to set her up with Jancy.
Anna Log, having gotten over her creator's block, has scrapped her old plans and begun with a new portfolio of game ideas. After some tweaking, her animatronic has taken up part-time work helping Felix around Gareville.
Remember in the tags of the original post where I mentioned having a crackship? Yeah it's Harvey and Avis and I will not apologize for it.
Just finished Drawtectives Season 2 and oh boy am I having crazy person thoughts. Headcanons you wouldn't even believe.
