It’s gotta be nr.2, but I am a sucker for bloody injuries and aftercare😔😔✊🏻
Exhibit a: Bash, the handsome handsome Bash (s1 year 1557)
(I’m actually obsessed with this scene it’s just perfect in my opinion, I might make a separate post on it lol)
Exhibit b: Faramir, my love❤️
Let’s not even dive into the sweaty, ill mess he is later on, almost being burned alive by his father the king
Exhibit c: Maximillian (Year 1477)
after being attacked, Maximillian needs support
Exhibit d: Lancelot!!! From Merlin!!! I remember I loooved this scene. And he is super pretty come on
Exhibit e: Narnia, during the final battle (Edmunds wheezing sounded so painful I was always so worried as a child lmao)
Exhibit f: Gareth… also, handsome handsome Gareth… now y’all already know how I feel about this scene so I’ll stop myself before I go all heart eyes
I will probably keep on adding to this 🎉🎉 I know there’s some great Turkish medieval Whump here on tumblr, and I haven’t even delved into my drama obsession 🍻

“Show Me Your Magic?”
I think mini dragon Crowley has become one of my favorite things to draw and already I can tell he’d make way more mischief in this form 😆
1 of Crowley’s abilities is he can control his dragon size. This is the smallest he can make himself without morphing into a snake.

Y'all ever see this scene in Dragonheart and think it SCREAMS Inuparents? Imagine Toga in dog form singing to Izayoi, who's now questioning everything she ever knew about youkai.
#Inuyasha#Dragonheart#Inuparents#Toga#Izayoi#HC#I may or may not have a ton of Dragonheart related HCs about them including Toga having Sean Connery's voice#the cowards missed it with the movie 3 dub

Bakura was minding his own when people started to scream, unsure why he looked around then felt his qhole body tense. Was it Kaiba tech acting weird (again) or the real gandora?! "uh..what the fuck-" He shouted pointing at (yugi) well gandora. "Okay now i'm blaming the Pharaoh- or Kaiba maybe both!" // hi delayed but -- m!a thread perhaps?
Yuugi heard Bakura before he saw him and lowered his head, glaring at him, affronted that he would blame Atem for this situation. It was definitely not his fault! As for Kaiba, Yuugi had his doubts about that.
'Can't you go five minutes without blaming either of them for everything?'
Well, looked like he had some way of speaking. He wondered how well he would be understood.

while my dracionity turned out different in the end, this was still an important post for me to write!
<:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::{[xxx()o
when I see my draconic self in my mind’s eye, or become more aware of my phantom parts (because they're always present to a degree), there’s a consistent, distinct shape.
o()xxx[{:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>
- a long-ish mammalian muzzle, full of sharp teeth & fangs. also has a feline- or mustelidae-like nose-pad. (“padded nose”? idk the exact term for these types of critter snoots.) - brown fur of short-to-medium length. - unsure if i have scales or protective plating anywhere? might have some on the lower sections of my legs. - body is pine-marten-y in shape & length. - tail is also quite long. sleek, thick-ish, and is capable of corkscrewing around itself at least once. tapers off into a (albeit large) lion-like “tuft” at the end; like a traditional unicorn’s tail. (may be longer, and i’m just experiencing a length that’s relative to my human body???) - paws with five digits, paw-pads, & claws. unsure if said claws are retractable at all. overall very marten-esk. - ears are always in a “back facing” position, which seems to be their natural/neutral positioning. ears are large, almost fennec-like, and fuzzy inside & out like a donkey’s. - set of small nub-horns, teal in color, positioned like a goat’s or deer’s. - one of the closest placement matches i’ve seen are Trico’s (beast from The Last Guardian), but mine grow the opposite direction (i.e, toward my back).
- i do not have wings, and notably feel like i’d be incapable of (natural/non-magical) flight.
- i believe my species lived in, or at least frequented, a temperate forest environment of sorts. and/or potentially somewhere that feels like a mix of Alaska & California's wilderness? it's a jumble of fuzzy noemata that i'm still sorting through.
all this got me wondering; is there any example of this sort of dragon in wider media? in any known mythos or folklore? thus far, the closest examples i've found in these sources are Chinese & Japanese Dragons, such as the character of Haku from Spirited Away; but these aren't exacts. when i look up images & read about them in mythology texts (historical & fictional alike), i always think to myself "Kind of close, but... not it."
one fictional type i've found that sort of matches me is Imperial dragons, from Flight Rising.
however, many details just don't ring as "me." i lack wings, those prominent whiskers, full scales, or any kind of beard, my horns are much, much shorter, i could go on. bottom line, i'm not an Imperial dragon. so, i'm left with the same feeling: "Close, but nowhere near exact."
the absolute closest body-type/shape i’ve found (outside of drawing something myself) is from various original characters. there's a consistent handful of design tropes that make these characters distinctly this type of "fuzzy noodle dragon" — like a mosh-pit mix of almost "off-brand" depictions of eastern dragons. if you're in character/adoptable design circles, you may know what i'm talking about. you may even own a character like this, or be in the same boat as me.
i did briefly consider the idea i might be OC-kin, but... similarly to historical depictions & Imperial dragons, these designs feel like they’re just that; designs. not part of my identity.
"Close. Nothing more."
even this fursona/character concept i whipped up a few years ago, which has pretty much every visual aspect i described, doesn’t feel like me. that character still feels like just a for-fun-mascot or character; not a self-portrait, idealized or true-to-form.
which brings me to a label i've been ruminating over: Folcinteric (Nonhumanity).
i feel @who-is-page’s label of folcintera might really fit me, especially with the specific type of dragon i’ve described here. problem is, (and this is most likely just the imposter syndrome talking) i'm not even sure i have any mythos to begin with.
well. maybe i do. in a slightly more abstract sense.
as i said, this kind of design is not that uncommon; i'd even dare to say it's popular. popular enough that a lot of people will understand and have a fairly distinct image in their mind when you say “furry noodle dragon.” (i'm extremely curious about the origins of this design trend, and who might've kicked it off, or if this concept is a conclusion that multiple artists came to when making a lung dragon inspired design.)
so, perhaps my larger “mythology” — to potentially stretch the definition a bit — is from a subset of the dragon art & character design communities. something in me says that could count as a "lived mythology" of sorts.
and, i am still a type of dragon, one that varies in imagery/details and person-to-person lore, at the end of the day. one that is also very tied to my own personal understanding of "dragon."
dragons, in the larger scope of folklore, are typically an allegory for the wealthy, or the concept of "evil," or are simply more "neutral" symbols of power, wisdom, strength, and/or magic.
dragons were never something i feared / saw as universally "villainous," or even as strictly symbolic of any of the previously listed symbolism. my first exposure to dragons was within the Eragon/Inheritance Cycle series. due to the dragon and rider bond i saw there, "dragon" was cemented in my brain as a companion; protector, friend, but also animal. a fearsome one, yes, but not cruel or "evil by nature." not greedy, just naturally curious and drawn to "shiny" objects in the way any corvid is. sapient as any human or humanoid folk, but still as much of a beast as any wolf or bear.
publicly, i'll most likely just say "I'm a [species of] dragon," and leave it at that. the details of my identity are for me alone, and thus any further explanations or descriptions will be given voluntarily.
but even the things i keep private, i like to put names to. this is one such thing!
"theriomythic" felt somewhat like a hasty choice, though i don't mean that as a bad thing, at least for me. a bit of "my experiences fit here [within the therian label], but the species and my understanding of it doesn't [fit the definition of "only" earthen/nonfictional animals]... so i'll go with something that's close enough."
i do quite like the terms "draconity" & "dragonkind," since they're both very all-encompassing; but... i'm not sure how to articulate how that also feels like the problem (though i use the term loosely) that my brain has with them. "dragonkind," from my understanding, is more-so a label for the community itself rather than the individual. (it can be for personal use, i.e "I am dragonkind," but i don't know if it's widely used as such.) and "draconity" doesn't... quite ring the way i feel it should. it feels more like a general descriptor to preface my experiences and identity.
i could come up with my own term(s), and who knows, i might end up doing so. but at the same time, i don't want to reinvent where i don't need to. to me, the idea currently feels like calling that particular shade of lavender purple by another name, just because i can.
so maybe my flavor of dragon does fit the definitions for being folcintera. the term is supposed to be pretty much limitless within "lived mythos."
all that to say, i'm going to be trying out folcintera for myself. worst that happens is it doesn't end up fitting lol if that becomes the case, i'll find or make something new~

Food For the Dead
Old Life Festival is upon the province and with it remembering the dead. But when you have a child who is obsessed with that which is spooky, you can find yourself remembering more then just your ancestors. Elena is terrified of the dead but that means little in the face of parenting, especially when the children begin teaming up to do right by even the warriors of the dragon cult.
I am loosely basing Old Life on All Soul's Day which is a bit of artistic license but this is spawned by a very real conversation with my own spooky obsessed child and them wanting to light candles for all the dead because no one should be forgotten. They are a better person then I.
"Mama." Runa flopped on to the bar stool across the sink, waiting patiently for Elena to look up which caused Elena concern. "What are draugr?"
"Oh. Uh." They tapped the spoon on the side of the skillet, wiggling their bare toes against the cold floor when it didn’t help them think. "Old Nords, ancient ones, but they were warriors of the dragon cults that are bound to serve their masters for eternity."
"So, they speak Thu'um."
Elena regarded her carefully; Runa’s brows were furrowed as she stared into a notebook after making a scribbled note. "Aye, some would."
"So, if one came here you could talk to them?"
"Little one, why are you worried draugr are going to come to the house?"
"Lucia said there are draugr in the Halls of the Dead."
"There are."
"So, there is a dragon priest beneath the city?"
Elena set down the spoon harder than they meant. "I would like to think there isn’t but there are many important people buried here. And the oldest catacombs they’ve found are supposedly older than the city. "
"Potema isn’t even in those then."
"Aye." Runa nodded hopped down from her chair and disappeared before Elena could say another word. Elena went back to cooking dinner, their brows furrowed, and jaw clenched as they hoped they wouldn’t be kept up all night worrying about draugr knocking on the door.
It was Lucia who appeared for dinner first much to Elena’s relief, flipping through one of her latest magazines. "Lucia, why is Runa worrying about draugr?"
Lucia’s pale brows furrowed a moment, chewing on her fingernail before brightening. "We are starting the Old Life Festival stuff at school."
"Oh." Elena let out a sigh of relief.
"I let her borrow my books though, they gave her baby stuff." Elena matched her scowl. "Why do some of the teachers treat her like that?"
"Because they think she isn’t capable." They snarled, pouring themselves a glass of water.
"Have they met her?" Lucia stomped her foot indignantly, the magazine in her hands crumbling in her fists. "She’s smarter than all of them, who cares if she doesn’t sit?!"
"Well." Elena let out a tired chuckle then. "You aren’t wrong but it’s a bit more then not sitting still."
"She only hits people that deserve it." She sniffed, setting aside the magazine to help Elena get dinner on the table. "I wish I could hit people like she does."
Elena let out a tired sigh. "Save it until after they won’t call me to fix it okay?" Lucia laughed, ducking away when Elena ruffled her hair. "What’s the new one about? Anything interesting?"
"Atmoran fashion is coming back into style." She grinned at her mother. "Aunt Oddie said I should dig through your closet to find some originals."
"Ha ha, Aunt Oddie isn’t funny." She snorted. "And I’ve never been fashionable a day in my life."
"Some of it would suit you." Lucia declared snagging the magazine to show Elena a picture. The woman was regal with the dark furs draped across her shoulders and shining metal at the clasps. "You already have the braids."
"True." Elena gently dragged their finger down the figure, eyeing it critically. "I would not be caught dead in that floaty, not skirt thing."
"Mama." Luci groaned. "It’s a tabard." She tapped her bright pink nail against it. "It’s not a skirt, it’s part of the shirt."
"I’d still trip over it." Elena sang over their shoulder as they grabbed the macaroni from the stove.
"It’d have to be shorter, or the hatchlings would get tangled in it." She narrowed her eyes watching her mother carefully. "Your favorite color is forest green, right?"
"Aye?" Any further questioning was halted by the appearance of Sofie and Runa who were discussing the best offerings to leave for the draugr. "Why are we feeding the undead?" Elena’s heart gave a panicked flutter.
The four of them settled at the table, Runa and Sofie exchanging smiles before Sofie spoke. "Because they shouldn’t be forgotten while we remember the dead."
Elena couldn’t decide if they were going to die from cuteness or terror because they knew children couldn’t go into the Halls of the Dead without a parent.

I can't breathe!!!!
This is EVERYTHING!!!!
"Between Thorin and the three wargs that were slowly stalking his way, who was angrier?
Those bright blue eyes seemed to glow like flames of their own as he dug his claws into the ground and then pushed himself to his feet. That glow between the scales of his throat becoming visible again as he let those wings of his, injured as they might have been from the scuffle, spread and make him as large and imposing as possible, another loud and menacing growl erupted and echoed from Thorin take made the ears of those wargs tip back with a whine. Bilbo’s own had dropped at the sound, as piercing as it was."
-@lordoftherazzles, Dragonhearted
AO3 IS BACK! I've been waiting to post this so that I could include the excerpt because this is one of my FAVORITE parts of Dragonhearted! Combat is so hard to write and Razzles does it beautifully. Beauty and the Beast AUs are so tricky to get right and honestly this is the best one I've read to date out of any fandom I've been in. So PLEASE make sure to give it and any other of Razzles' fics a read it will be so worth it I promise

Dragonheart; Masterlist
Pairing: OT7 dragon!BTS x knightess!reader
Genre: dragon rider AU, high fantasy, soulmate adjacent, slight enemies to lovers (if you squint), angst, fluff and humour, eventual smut
Summary: The Gong-li Empire has been on the peak of its power for a little over a millenium, and there was a very simple reason for that - dragonkind. When the first emperor of the Li Dynasty struck a deal with a witch that would allow him to bind dragons to the crown and force them into obedience, it was the beginning of its reign of terror and the end of freedom for creatures as old as nature itself.
Now, a woman hoping to change everything enters the ranks of the elite dragon rider unit among the imperial army and meets seven men that not only change her life, but help her change the fate of the whole world.
Warnings and themes: unhealthy family dynamics, fighting against corruption and inequality, revolution, discussions and themes of slavery/sex slavery and forced bondings, violence, war, near death experiences, challenging relationship dynamics, angst, discussions of mortality and death, mating cycles (yes, i'm a slut, thank u), knotting (bc i said so), enough puns and jokes about riding to make you sick of me - each chapter will have it's individual warnings
Current word count: 35.9k
A/N: i've been really craving some good fantasy lately and i'm so in love with dragons, so of course i had to write something for our boys! for this setting, kind of imagine a fusion of asian and western fantasy, the same with clothing - it's going to be a mix of both together. also i'm doing whatever i want with the boys' hairstyles so it's different eras all mashed together, just based on what i liked the most
○ Chapter 1: On the wind of morning
⇝ The first encounter between a girl and a dragon. ⇜
○ Chapter 2: The moon hangs heavy
⇝ When meeting the thunder is bittersweet and family is complicated. ⇜
○ Chapter 3: Prove your heart
⇝ How far does a girl have to go to gain a dragon's trust? ⇜
Character studies
Notes to chapters:
Story lore: Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 |
Dictionary: Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 |

I’m just curious but do you have examples of good dragon anatomy in media? It’s ok if not or you don’t wanna share I’m just curious.
In media? whew, really hard to say. Often in media dragons will either have spoon wings (even if the rest of the dragon is good, like in hotd) or be shrinkwrapped :[
Toothless from httyd got it PRETTYYYYY CLOSE, the big wings dont go all the way down to the base BUT the secondary wings he has actually finish that part of the base and fill in that gap, and the fins on the tail tip are just so swag because they add lift to the tail tip as well
Saphira from the Eragon movie actually had GENUINELY TURBOSWAG wings!!! Like these are genuinely damn near perfect for the time. They're missing the wing slots on the tips BUT WE'LL ALLOW IT. Especially when these are so hard to make and back then especially
They could genuinely have more base to them, she does have a mild case of spoon wings but they are MUCH more proportionate than like... most others lmao.
uhhh uhhhh. I'm... actually REALLY struggling to think of basically any other media with good wings LMAO... the wing industry is in shambles. Most of the media with dragons in it has spoon wings (or worse). I feel like I've talked about one thing or another with good (or decent) wing anatomy but I cannot for the life of me remember anything right now.
Soooo...... to make up for that here's some BAD bad dragon anatomy in media:
From "dragons a fantasy made real". 1. what the fuck. 2. ???? i just dont know what to say its got it all. Shrinkwrapping, small spoon wings, nonsensical attachment to the back, etc. I love this movie to death but watching it when im older and Know Things is a curse
Dragonheart. I have not seen this movie but What The Fuck is going on there. Attach those wings son!!!! Theyre just flopping around!!!
Every single monster hunter monster with wings is uh. Very questionable. None of them have the patagium either which is A Crime. As much as I love the franchise TO DEATH the wings is something that irks me constantly lskdhsdfklj
They did actually do rathalos better for monster hunter world though! but its still got a bit of spoon wings. Its better, but still not very good
Malefor from spyro <3 what the fuck <3 we forgive him because its a stylized came but he's flying on sheer willpower those wings are doing nothing for him. Nor for every other dragon in the franchise
And last but certainly not least:
Why. Just why. That's not a wing anymore.
