📚 October Reading Round-Up 📚
I read some good books this month; definitely more than in September. I have a few I’m hoping to get through in November. Continuing my Vorkosigan Saga and Murderbot journeys (and loving it!).
- Ocean’s Echo by Everina Maxwell
- Ethan of Athos by Lois McMaster Bujold (fun, entertaining, lots of action and humour)
- Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells (amazing, entertaining, funny, emotional, great character development, that ending!!!!)
- Masquerade in Lodi by Lois McMaster Bujold (cute and fun, a bit stressful and very fast-paced, great themes and ending)
- Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon (a re-read, entertaining, interesting themes, great relationship)
- Born of Vengeance by Sherrilyn Kenyon (re-read, more fun this time around, liked the pacing, plot, characters, and relationships, somewhat repetitive in terms of main theme)
- A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan (story worked perfectly as an audiobook, great prose and worldbuilding and characters, almost made me cry, can’t wait to read the next book)

Ride or Die
~I was in the office of my restaurant Dragon Gardens. My father owns several business around Oakland and Lodi. I wanted my own business so my father helped to acquire this restaurant for me. Just like my father's legit businesses, it's a front for illegal services that my family provides. My family business is drug, guns, prostitution and death. My father Henry Lin, is the leader of the Lin Triad. My part of the family business deals with death. I am used on special cases, because of my training and that I am a woman. Most people don't suspect a woman to be an assassin.
As I was counting money for the bank deposit as I yelled out for Ed Chen~
Ed! Get in here please.
“Yes, Ms. Lin. How can I help?”
I need you to take the deposit to the bank. Then I need you go by my dad's office. He left a package for me.
“Yes,Ms. Lin”
~Ed takes the deposit with him as he snaps for one his lackies when they head out the door. I leaned back into my chair,as I was looking through the mail. When my cell phone ring,I see that it's my father.~
Hi father. What's going on?
“I am sure you haven't seen the news in the last 24 hours.”
No, I don't watch the news father. What was on the news?
“You friend @ofpetalsnash was attacked at her tattoo shop. She is alive, but pretty beat up. You will be proud to know she killed all her attackers.”
What! Oh my god. Wait, you said attackers not attacker. Who sent them? I will head over to Charming after Ed gets back with your package.
“Yes attackers, 4 if I heard correctly. Just leave for Charming,My daughter. The stuff in the package will keep. Make sure you take some food. It would be a proper gesture. Be safe and keep me updated.”
Thank you father. I will. I love you.
~I disconnected the call and headed to the kitchen. I told the chefs to make me a bunch of friend rice, lo mein, and egg rolls. I love being the boss here. They are always very helpful and accommodating of my wishes. I headed back to my office and opened the safe. I take out my gun and some money. About 30 mins later, one of the waiters knocked on the door. He informed me my car was loaded with food. I thanked him and left to my car. I am glad Lexi handled those men. I will make damn sure I get the person that ordered the attack on Lexi . ~
