I was thinkin about the spring dance and all that in the AU and i came to the conclusion that Claire would be so into the idea of spring formals and they end up having a mini dance somewhere in one of the trollmarket caves

they were a little iffy about inviting nomura at first but then it ended up ok and everyone got to dance at some point

In an AU purely made for self-indulgent purposes:

Who holds the others hand first? Nomura. I’m not sure that kind of PDA is common among trolls, but it is among humans and she’d know it means something while Draal’d be like ??? well, it’s nice so whatevs

Who initiates the first kiss? Draal. She’s telling her about ‘Face smooshing’ and how gross it is and she kiiiind of throws the challenge that maybe he’s just too scared to try it and he takes it up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ turns out it’s not so bad once you try it.

Who asks the other out for the first date? It’s not exactly a date. They basically start talking shit and agree on meeting somewhere later for a fight. After beating the shit off each other, they went to eat cats in an alley.

Who says ‘I love you’ first? Draal. Other words were used but that was basically it.

Who’s ready for marriage first? Draal, to a degree. He’s imagining a future together when Nomura’s just barely starting to think maybe she’s allowed to be with him.

Who wants kids first? Draal again. I don’t think Nomura thought of herself as mom-material at first, even when the baby was already on it’s way.

Who’s the first to break down because they’re going to be parents? Nomura but it was half-panic and shock.

Who’s the first to cuss in front of the baby? Draal. Nomura kicks his ass for it

Who’s name does the baby learn first? Draal. It’s easier and I can kinda see it as being the one called out around him more often.

Who’s least ready to let their kids grow up? Nomura. Abandonment issues and all that, I can see her being anxious about the kids leaving because they might not come back.

Who cries when the kids leave? None of them did. Draal got a little something in his eye and Nomura was coming down with a cold.

Who makes tea for the other because they really shouldn’t be getting up so much anymore? Draal. I take it Changelings live less than regular trolls, so she would age faster than him and start having movement issues much sooner than him.

Who teases the grandkids most? Nomura. She’s a tough-love kinda grandma.  

Who spoils the grandkids most? I don’t think either really spoils them? But I can see Draal being indulgent with them

Who insists on doing even the most simple of tasks for the other because they’re both growing so old and they really need to rest? Draal again :(

Who dies first? Nomura.

So a thought occurred to me while in was plotting my double date fic

In Young Atlas that’s when we learn about how Draal had feelings for Nomura “once upon a time”

“I once had similar stirrings, for an Impure.”

He points out that Jim is afraid.

He tells him if he uses a gummgumm totem, the gritshaka, it would eliminate the fear Jim has towards his feelings for Claire.

Something he JUST SO HAPPENS TO HAVE.

What if…. Draal used the grit Shaka to help him with his relationship with Nomura….?
