pairing: Eddie Brock/Reader/Venom Symbiote/Agony Symbiote
reader's pronouns are they/them; race and gender are ambiguous and no physical descriptors are used
summary: “You’re….” Eddie chokes out, not wanting to get his hopes up. But he recognizes the fatigue in your eyes; the tension in your shoulders; and the hidden synchronicity stringing you together. “Like you?” An alien voice growls. A deep blue mass stretches across your face, seeping through your cheekbones and down your neck. You bare your teeth and Eddie is surprised to see inhumanly long sharpened teeth and a drooling tongue. The sight is painfully familiar: it appears nearly identical to Venom, save for the color. In the blink of an eye, the mass is gone, leaving you to stare at him with a sympathetic smile. “Yes.”

I did some research on the wiki and watched a few clips of the movie, but that’s the extent of my canon knowledge. As such, this won’t be canon compliant.
In this fic, the reader (you) is an experiment of the Life Foundation. Dr. Drake decides to try bonding you with a symbiote. While the union works, it ultimately backfires for him—as you manage to make your escape and go into hiding with the symbiote. Without a symbiote to bond to her, Dr. Skirth ends up living… and once Eddie escapes from the facility, she introduces the two of you.

There’s someone Dr. Skirth wants Eddie to meet. He hates meeting new people, but he owes Dora a favor, so he agrees to meet up with you in the park under the cover of night. Eddie doesn’t know anything about you, other than the fact that you’re a friend of a friend. According to Dora, you’re also tied to the Life Foundation (how that connection manifests, Eddie isn’t sure). Honestly, Eddie just hopes his meeting with you will be useful. Meanwhile, Venom is, understandably, skeptical about the meeting. They make sure to complain to him several times as he makes his way to the park, and they are only satiated with the promise that they can eat you if you somehow turn out to be a villain.
Unfortunately for Venom, you don’t appear to be a villain. Rather, you’re wearing deceptively casual clothing: a simple sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. Your hands are shoved in your pockets; there are dark circles under your eyes and you’re staring down at the cracks in the pavement as you stand under a flickering streetlight. There are scars marking nearly every visible part of you—stretching up your collarbone, running down your face, laced across your hands. One thing is abundantly clear to Eddie in that moment: Life Foundation has left its mark on you, too.
If you sense him staring, you don’t comment on it. Instead, you just look up and send him a hesitant wave. “Hi,” you say, extending a hand to shake as you introduce yourself. Eddie blinks at you for a moment, before introducing himself in return. After a second, he takes your proffered hand and shakes it firmly. His eyes catch on your cracked knuckles and everything seems to fall into place. It appears you’re far more similar to Eddie than he first thought.
“You’re….” He finds himself choking out, not wanting to get his hopes up.
“Yes.”
Eddie stares at you in disbelief, amazed by your composure. Right now, he feels as if Venom is in complete control. Yet you seem able to switch between your symbiote and your own visage at will. It’s as if the two of you are in complete agreement. “How…?” He trails off.
Half of your face is overtaken with the alien entity. “We are Agony.” A warped voice responds, a blend of your voice and the alien’s. Slowly, the alien—Agony—drips down your face and disappears from sight. You’re staring at him with a patient expression now. “We can help you.” You state matter-of-factly.
Eddie isn’t sure what to do with that offer. He finds himself mechanically proceeding through the rest of the conversation, just barely staying afloat amidst the realization that there may actually be someone willing to help him. A few days ago, Eddie would’ve maintained that he didn’t need help;today, he’s grateful for the offer of assistance that he knows he needs. He has no idea how to navigate this tumultuous new existence he finds himself sharing with the alien creature inside him.
He locks eyes with you, and an unspoken understanding passes between the both of you. There is a visceral fuzzy feeling in Eddie’s chest, as he stares into the eyes of the one person who could ever truly understand his new life. You stare right back at him, evidently having similar thoughts. The two of you are tied together by fate and its cruelties; you have virtually no choice but to lean on one another, lest you both return to your loneliness.
Eddie leaves twenty minutes later with your number in his phone and plans to meet with you the next morning. He’s fairly hopeful about it—from what he could tell, you seem like a genuinely kind person. Worn thin from the trials you’ve been forced into, but kind nonetheless. Eddie tries to puzzle out how you could still have sympathy for a world that has shown you nothing but malice.
“Don’t trust them.” Venom growls, breaking Eddie out of his thoughts. He feels the symbiote’s restless energy humming along his skin, creating goosebumps that run down his arms as he walks home.
Whether Venom’s remark is a profession of their suspicion or a warning, Eddie isn’t sure. He sighs. “Let’s give them a chance,” Eddie maintains, shoving his hands in his pockets as he continues down the street. “If they somehow turn out to be evil, you can eat them. Okay?”
Venom is silent for a while. “Fine.” They eventually respond, clearly not happy about it. But the renewed promise of food must be too good for them to turn down.
Eddie nods, secretly relieved. Admittedly, he’s pretty optimistic about you: you appear healthy, sane, and most importantly, comfortable in your own body. You don’t appear to be constantly at war with yourself, which is rather similar to how Eddie feels at the current moment.
“War,” Venom remarks. There’s no telling whether they possess the same spectrum of emotions that humans do, yet they’re speaking with clear sarcasm. “Very dramatic, Eddie.” Eddie just rolls his eyes.
The rest of his day passes without much fanfare. He eats a rather bland dinner and falls asleep earlier than normal, if only to quiet his restless thoughts. Before long, it’s the next morning—and he’s freshening up before heading out to the diner you agreed to meet at.
You’re waiting for him in a brightly-colored booth. Eddie walks over to you, muttering a greeting as he takes the seat across from you. You slide a coffee mug over to him, which he drinks gratefully. His curiosity seems to linger in the air around both of you, until you’re relenting and telling Eddie about yourself. He told you about himself when you met last night; now, it’s your turn to tell your story.
What Eddie hears is enough to turn his stomach and effectively rid him of his appetite. Essentially, you were one of the human captives used as experiments by the Life Foundation. You describe a constant state of numbness at war with dread and fear. You explain how you were practically left to rot behind those glass walls, until it came time for you to be the next test subject. You recount how you were exposed to the blue symbiote… and how, upon your successful union, Life Foundation planned to experiment on you further. By the time you’re describing your escape, Eddie is resisting the urge to reach out and place a hand over your shaking one—desperate to provide comfort to the one person who understands what it’s like to have a parasite living inside them.
“Not a parasite,” Venom hisses, breaking Eddie out of his thoughts. They sound strangely offended by the remark.
“Right, they don’t like being called that,” you murmur, tapping your fingers rhythmically against the table. Eddie blinks, thrown back into reality. “Symbiote is better.” Agony interjects. You seem entirely unbothered by the interruption.
An awkward silence descends across the space for a moment, before Eddie blurts out the first thought that comes to mind. “I’m hungry,” Eddie frowns. Indeed, his stomach aches with emptiness—despite his knowledge that he ate just before falling asleep the previous night.
“We’re hungry.” Venom corrects him.
You’re looking at him— them, Eddie reminds himself—with amusement. The expression is fleeting. “Right,” you then say, as if you’re just remembering. A grimace rises on your face. “Well. There are two options: chocolate… and human brains.”
Eddie stares at you warily. He didn’t think you were the type to joke about things like this, but it just sounds too far fetched to be real. He must’ve misjudged you, somehow. As if sensing his doubt, you attempt to explain further.
“I know, I was skeptical too,” you admit, rubbing a hand over your face. While your relationship with Agony seems a lot more clearly defined than Eddie and Venom’s, there’s still a lingering exhaustion written in the lines of your face. You take a slow breath. “Their species requires different nutrients than ours: namely, phenethylamine.”
“Human brains are better.” Agony states.
You sigh. “It’s true. Chocolate is really only a temporary fix, because it doesn’t last nearly as long. The two of us have struck up an agreement to only eat bad people, so there’s at least a bit of morality involved...” You break off, clearly sensing Eddie’s impending dread.
There’s no way around eating humans. It takes him several seconds to process this. Eddie doesn’t want to believe it—doesn’t want to think about the feeling of human matter stuck between his hooked teeth; doesn’t want to think about waking up in the morning, sweat-soaked and stained with the dried blood of a dead stranger.
“I’m sorry,” you say, your brows furrowed. Eddie hates how sincere you are. And he especially hates how he takes comfort from your reassurance. It shouldn’t mean anything to him—he never cares what people think of him. But the fact that you can not only sympathize with him, but also empathize with him, is rather significant.
“We can do this,” you promise him. Eddie finds himself oddly appreciative of your choice of wording. You chose to say “we,” as if explicitly confirming your support for him. “We’ll help you.” You repeat.
“Okay,” he responds stiffly, not trusting himself to say anything else. The two—four—of you spend the rest of the meal in silence. Eventually, the warm sunlight trickles through the windows next to you and breakfast is over. Eddie and you leave the restaurant and stop on the sidewalk outside, turning towards one another.
“I’ll text you,” you promise. “Let me know if you need anything.” Eddie nods quietly. As if sensing how overwhelmed he feels, your expression morphs into one oddly reminiscent of… affection. “Take care of yourself, okay?” Eddie assents and tells you to do the same, at which a smile rises on your lips. Oddly short of breath, Eddie manages to tear his eyes away and utter a goodbye—though your smile remains in his thoughts for the rest of the day.
Eddie begins to make progress, slowly but surely. With your guidance, he learns how to communicate better with Venom; fight with their assistance; and even nourish himself better. None of it seems to be important, in the face of the realization that his life will never return back to normal. But, somehow, the satisfied smile on your face when he accomplishes something is enough for Eddie to keep pushing himself.
Since your first meeting, Venom has warmed up to you a lot more—to the point where they have started speaking to you directly, instead of just speaking to Eddie. Agony has still remained a bit more withdrawn and silent, but their presence is keenly felt regardless.
Eddie still has moments when he feels as if the world is caving in on him—as if the faces of passerby are contorted in disgust and fear (which was an unfortunate reality in the beginning days of his union with Venom). There are nights when he wakes with dried blood flecked across his skin, but he has grown accustomed to washing it off and forgetting it in the morning. You are a constant companion during these moments, and, sometimes, your touch is the only thing that grounds Eddie to the world around him. Safe to say, the two of you have taken to staying at each other’s apartments more often than not.
On a few rare occasions, Eddie is the one to hold you—as you remember confinement behind cold glass walls and calculating eyes watching your every move. Eddie can’t imagine what your captivity and torture at the hands of Life Foundation was like… And he’s certain he doesn’t want to think about it, because it will only make him feel even worse. While you’ve both been bonded with symbiotes, Eddie escaped the cruel experimentation that you were subjected to. He was just visiting to get information for an article; you were bound in chains and thrown behind nearly impenetrable barriers.
Overall, though, things are going well. At least, Eddie wants to think so. But then the universe wants to spite him, and he wakes up one morning feeling as if he was hit by a truck. He’s practically stuck to the cushions of his couch, his limbs as heavy as bricks. His throat is overwhelmingly dry; there’s a bitter taste in his mouth; and, try as he might, he can’t seem to wrench his eyes open.
“Eddie? …Eddie? Shit.”
Eddie wakes to a frigid cold. He shivers instinctually, blinking past a strange sheen over his eyelids. It takes his vision several moments to clarify past a swirling blur. His temple is nearly pulsating with pain; his stomach aches and his skin is coated in sweat. Eddie twitches, recognizing your blurry silhouette and realizing you must’ve dumped cold water on him to wake him up. Even now, as he’s been torn from sleep, he’s struggling to stay awake.
“Eddie?” You ask, sounding very concerned. Eddie isn’t sure he can remember the last time someone was so worried about him. The thought saddens him. Your hands move to his shoulders and you shake him slightly, your brows furrowed. “Can you hear me?” The most Eddie can manage is a weak nod in response.
“Doesn’t… feel right.” Venom adds. This may be the first time Eddie has ever agreed with Venom.
“Eddie’s sick,” you respond to the symbiote.
Eddie isn’t able to register much more of your conversation with Venom—not when his ears are ringing and he feels a familiar prickling nausea at the back of his throat. Eddie slowly pushes himself up. Upon realizing that the feeling is steadily climbing up his throat, he clumsily gets to his feet and stumbles towards the bathroom, just barely making it to the toilet before vomiting. Eddie can’t quite comprehend what’s happening, other than the burning sensation assaulting his throat and the sudden feel of someone rubbing his back reassuringly. You’re crouching next to him, saying something he can’t make out. Venom responds for him.
At some point, he stops throwing up and attempts to rest his head. You put the toilet seat down and flush it, before allowing him to do so. Eddie feels a foreign gratitude for the kindness you’re showing him, despite the monster living inside him. The cold porcelain is a welcome sensation on his sweat-soaked skin.
“Not a monster,” Venom reminds him. Even his companion’s voice is quieter, as if accommodating the headache migrating through his temple and down into his cheekbones and jaw. Eddie doesn’t have the energy to argue. He blinks slowly, the lights of the bathroom only making his headache worse. He feels rather woozy.
“Here, let’s get you up,” you suggest. Eddie can hardly move, yet your hands bracket his arms and you’re pulling him up as if he weighs nothing at all. (That is likely due to Agony’s help, but he doesn’t exactly have the wherewithal to recognize that). Eddie lurches to the side ominously, but Venom extends a makeshift arm and rights his balance. With Agony, Venom, and you combined, Eddie makes it back to the couch easily. You help him sit down before walking into the kitchen. You return moments later to press a glass of water into his hand.
Eddie gulps it down greedily. Or, at least, he tries to—only for you to reach out and stop him from drinking any more. “Not too fast,” you remark, taking the glass from his hand and placing it on the adjacent coffee table. “Wait ten minutes or so, just to make sure you can keep it down.”
Eddie stares at you for a long moment, frowning. He hears himself blurting out his thoughts before he can think any better of it.“Why are you here?” Eddie croaks. He is the complete opposite of presentable at the moment; the last thing he wants is for you of all people to see him looking so pathetic. Eddie isn’t exactly sure why he wants to make such a good impression on you, but… he supposes that doesn’t matter now. He can muse on the exact nature of his feelings towards you at a later date, when he doesn’t feel so uncomfortable in his own skin.
You blink at him for a moment, evidently contemplating the question. “Alone.” Agony responds. Eddie squints at you, watching as the symbiote’s midnight blue mass crawls up your shoulders, as if wrapping an arm around you in reassurance. You don’t even flinch at the sudden presence of your companion. Instead, you take a slow breath and look at Eddie once more. “When it happened to me, I was alone. It was… an isolating experience. I don’t want you to feel the same way.” You explain.
You then reach down, as if to touch him, only for Venom to protrude from Eddie’s shoulder and snap at you. At least, they attempt to—only for Agony to intercept them and snap threateningly in return. Eddie watches the whole scene through hazy eyes, half-convinced that he’s having a fever dream. Eventually, Agony and Venom seem to resolve their dispute and you reach out towards Eddie again, placing your hand on his forehead to check for his temperature. Eddie can’t stop himself from sighing in relief at your cool skin. You only frown, looking more worried. “You’re burning up,” you say to him.
“Hot.” Venom adds, clearly feeling a bit of Eddie’s own discomfort. “Like flames.”
“He has a fever,” you respond, getting to your feet and moving to the kitchen once more. You come back moments later with a towel in hand. Eddie dazedly watches as you approach, folding the towel before placing it on his forehead. He exhales slowly as the cold fabric brings a welcome sensation of frigidity trickling down his temple, fighting off the flames licking at his skin. He’s not sure how long he sits in silence until you’re breaking through it. “Here, it’s been ten minutes. Can you sit up a bit?” You ask.
Eddie lets out a pained whimper, practically sinking back into the cushions of the couch. Venom stretches out of his back and props him up to a sitting position. Thank you, Eddie thinks. Then the symbiote rises to grasp his forearm, guiding him to grip the glass of water and take another sip. Venom and you then help him return to a reclined position.
Eddie’s eyelids are stinging with exhaustion. He’s desperately fighting off sleep—blinking tiredly with extra effort. “It’s okay, you can rest,” you reassure him, noticing his fatigue. “We’ll be here when you wake.”
That comforts him far more than he’d like to admit. Before long, Eddie is slipping into sleep once more.
“Cared for you,” Venom says days later, when Eddie has mostly recovered. They’re sharing a quiet moment in Eddie’s apartment, sitting on the couch and staring at the television on low-volume. “For us.”
Thinking about his sickness last week, Eddie can’t help but feel humiliated and weak. He’s still embarrassed that you saw him in such a state; frustrated that he needed assistance with even the simplest of tasks; and… grateful, despite it all. You stuck with him in the following few days, giving him medication when needed and ensuring he had enough to eat and drink. You were a constant presence, to the point where Eddie found you asleep on the armchair in his living room numerous times. That sight will be forever burned into his brain: the peaceful expression on your face as your chest rose and fell calmly. He had never seen you look so vulnerable before; and even in the midst of his sickness and the ensuing vulnerability he was forced to show, he felt himself wanting to protect you. It was a foolish thought: Eddie knew you were more than capable of protecting yourself. But perhaps it was just the domesticity of it all—the thought of you becoming a permanent fixture in their life.
Venom breaks him from his thoughts with a gentle tap at his wrist. Eddie recalls their prior statement and hums. “They did care for us,” he agrees. Venom crawls down his forearm, stretching to inhabit the space between his fingers in what he assumes to be an imitation of hand-holding. There’s an unsettled energy to the symbiote’s presence. Eddie feels a frown overtake his lips. “What’s wrong?”
“It was too quiet.” Venom’s confession settles in the air around him, inhabiting every nook and cranny of his dimly-lit apartment.
“Sorry,” Eddie eventually murmurs. He’s not sure why he’s apologizing, when the sickness wasn’t under his control. But that tone in Venom’s voice provokes guilt and remorse in him, for reasons he can’t quite elucidate.
“Don’t do it again.” Venom commands.
“I don’t really have control over that,” Eddie huffs, attempting to diffuse the sudden tension that settled over the space. Venom lets out a threatening growling noise and he quickly caves. “Fine, fine. I’ll try.”
“Try.” Venom repeats, equal amounts of wry amusement and frustration in their voice. Eddie just hums in response, grasping the symbiote’s tendrils with renewed vigor. Now that he thinks about it, Venom seemed uncharacteristically withdrawn during his sickness: as if they were afraid of pushing him too far past the brink of his energy.
“Sorry,” Eddie whispers again. Venom tightens their grip on his hand in response, and the two of them sit there for a long time after—hands conjoined and fates lovingly intertwined.
Eddie doesn’t get a chance to thank you until a few days later, when he’s sure his sickness is gone and can safely dismiss the thought of getting you sick. Eddie and Venom meet Agony and you as the sun sets over the horizon, in the same spot where you first met all that time ago.
Standing under the flickering street light in the park once more, Eddie is unspeakably thankful that he took a chance on you. He can’t imagine where he would be now, without your support. The thought dominates his mind, to the point where he finds himself uttering it aloud moments later. “I don’t know what I would do without you,” Eddie says.
“You’d be just fine,” you remark with a smile. The way you look at him only adds more fuel to the fire of Eddie’s foolish hopes. When he sees that gleam in your eyes, he can’t help but envision a shared existence: not among two beings, but among four. The thought is misguided and horribly insistent, popping up during the most inopportune of moments.
Eddie sighs. “I’m serious,” he maintains, trying to convey his sincerity. It seems to work, because you pause and look at him with widening eyes. “I- I couldn’t have done this alone. We couldn’t have done this alone.” Eddie corrects himself, when he can sense Venom about to object. The symbiote drags a tendril down his ribs, in an approving movement that makes his heart race.
“I’m happy I met you,” you admit. “Selfishly speaking.” Agony crawls up your skin and pops out of your shoulder; Venom does the same, and the two have a conversation in a chittering language that Eddie and you can’t hope to understand. Meanwhile, Eddie is unable to deny your magnetic presence; he can’t help but gravitate towards you. He takes a step closer—past a socially acceptable distance—and stops, trying to study your expression and ascertain your comfort. Eventually, he surrenders and decides to just speak his thoughts.
“Can I…?” Eddie breaks off, unsure of what he’s asking for at the present moment. His thoughts are quickly cascading into a territory far past platonic companionship, but suppressing them is a lost cause. He’s spent too long denying himself the life he wants. Venom crawls up his chest and stretches across his shoulders in a reassuring gesture. Comforted by the reminder of Venom’s presence, Eddie clears his throat and summons the courage to finish his sentence. “Can I kiss you?”
You take a step closer, rendering the distance between the two of you nearly nonexistent. Your hand falls to his forearm and Eddie looks into your eyes, a nervous anticipation running through him as he sees you nod in agreement. “Yes.” You whisper, so quietly that Eddie nearly convinces himself that he imagined it. But before he can second-guess himself, you’re closing the gap between you and kissing him.
You’re standing so close together that the two of you are practically fusing. Eddie’s hands fall to your waist; your hands cradle his jaw. Agony and Venom prickle along their partners’ shoulders, dripping down your chests and mixing together. Distantly, Eddie remembers how lost and alone he felt when Venom first fused with him. He has long grown out of the feeling, and wonders if, perhaps, that sensation was trying to tell him something. Perhaps, this entire time, existence was meant to be shared amongst three others—rather than just one.
These philosophical thoughts quickly fade to the back of his mind, as your fingers trace his jaw and slip down to the nape of his neck. Venom rises to meet your hand, just as Agony trickles down your side and runs along Eddie’s knuckles. One realization immediately takes precedence over everything else running through Eddie’s mind:
He’s never felt so alive.

endnotes: this is definitely the queerest fic I've ever written. and I love it.
Me: I can hardly write kissing scenes with two people. My writer’s brain, cackling: Hear me out. What about… two people and two symbiotes? Me: What. The. Fuck.

Humbly requesting a fillet about how reader and venom first met

Of course anon, Here you go :D Word count:1.5k
Y/n from day dot knew that there were the odd one out, In school, they didn't make a lot of friends and they always thought it would be that way... live alone... die alone... But that was about to change with a snap of a finger all on one very faithful field trip.
You see, Y/n was studying bioengineering at college and the whole class was getting ready for a field trip to the Life Foundation to explore what they were doing and find potential career paths once they graduated.
"Very soon, another life foundation rocket will be sent on an exploratory mission. Hopefully with this research we may be able to find the right planet to call home" The life foundation founder carlton drake was showing the whole class around the lab.
"Mr drake ??" One student tried to ask a question before being shushed by their classmate.
"It's okay, don't silence them. People will always try to silence those of us who ask questions. But in the end, we're the ones who change the world" Drake told the student.
You zoned out the entire time, staying up late last night to study for your exam. Soon Drake called over Dr. Skirth to give you all a proper tour of the lab. She showed you all sorts of things, what they do is incredible.
"Dr, what's in this room ??" One student pointed out.
She looked over at the door. "Oh, this leads to our testing labs. As of today it's off limits for our tour" She hesitantly smiled.
You frowned a little, why was it off limits for the tour, why the hell wouldn't they show you the lab, it's the meat of this whole place right ?? You went up to your teacher and made an excuse that you needed to go to the bathroom, soon wandering away you waited nearby for someone to go out.
When a scientist came out of the lab, that was your mark to soon rush in before the doors shut, swiftly entering the lab. "Phew"
You began to walk around, the inside had dimmer red lighting compared to the rest of the building, it was pretty empty inside save for a couple security guards at the end of the hallways.
"Shit" You whispered as you ducked down and began to sneak your way past, getting a good look at a few rooms, until you came across one room that had slightly brighter lighting than the rest. Whatever it was it would be so cool to show off to the class, so moving in, you got inside and quietly shut the door.
You stood back up and walked over to these 5 strange containers, peeking over, you saw these... strange molding goo. Pulling out your phone you began to take a couple of pictures of them, they were all different colours, red, yellow, grey and black. They morphed around the containers, sticking to the glass.
"This is so cool" You had a twitch of a smile.
As you walked around the containers taking the photos, one of the things of goo crawled up the side of the container when you wandered around, as if it was... following you.
You jolted at the sound of a door opening nearby, and you tried to hide behind the containers. But in doing so, you accidentally pressed a button on one of them, opening the one that contained the black goo. Immediately crawling from the tank and flopping on the floor.
You looked over to find a couple of scientists and bodyguards passing by through the windows, while you were distracted it crawled over to you at lightning speed, you looked behind you and saw the goo on the floor, you were in deep shit !!
"No no no no..." You tried to shoo it back into the container, but it was too late, it's tendrils attached to your leg and began to soak into your body smoothly, no matter how many times you tried to flick it off. Soon it was gone... wtf.
You had to bolt it before someone figured out you were here, so with a pang of heavy guilt, you soon snuck your way back out of the lab and managed to find your class again, managing to blend back in with the others, some wondered why the hell you'd taken so long. Oh god, please don't let them find out.
Once it was over, you headed on home with your dirty little... little is beyond this point. Your big fucking secret !!. But when you sat down, you soon began to feel hungry... like VERY hungry. You got up and soon began to raid your pantry, going to town on any food that you were able to get your hands on, like an animal who hasn't had food for the longest time. But when you ran out you began to look around for anything that could satisfy your hunger, your eyes laying on the trash can, opening it to find a half-eaten chicken. You didn't know why, you just needed it. But soon you found yourself rushing to the bathroom, vomiting your mistake...
"Oh god...." You panted as you laid down, trying to gather yourself.
Once stable enough, you then slowly crawled your way up to the bathroom sink and began to brush your teeth, ahh minty freshness. But you began to feel a rumble of sickness in your chest, but at the same time, you didn't feel like you were going to throw up. You swore you were coming down with something at this point. Looking up, finding your reflection in the mirror. You then noticed your eyes shifting, black cracks forming as solid white alien like eyes pierced through your skin.
"Y/n !!"
You jumped back, falling into the bathtub. You rubbed your eyes and blinked, that wasn't real... right ?? But before you could gather your thoughts, you began to hear loud noises, even louder than normal noises. It made your ears hurt !! Your neighbour was blaring his heavy metal music once again across the hall from your apartment. It was making your head pound as if your skull was being rattled, normally you ignored this but this time you weren't having it. Marching over, you began to bang on the door until he answered.
"Yeah ??"
"Hey, could you just turn it down, I'm having a very weird day right now..."
"No" He scoffed.
You grew angry, but when you looked up at him, the alien-like eyes came back but this time was also met with razor-sharp teeth, growling at him.
He jumped back, fully scared. "Yeah... yeah sure I'll turn it down"
"Thank you"
"I'll turn it right down" He shut the door in your face and the music began to play again, this time the volume low.
Heading back, you shut the door and rubbed your face again, what was happening !! You were super flipping hungry, your brain was playing tricks on you in the mirror !! what next ??
"Y/n..." The voice appeared again.
You flipped around the living room, trying to find the source of the voice. "Who's there... show yourself !!"
There was a deep chuckle and soon, something began to wreathe out of your back. The same eyes and teeth soon moulded into a face, moving around to face you with a grin. You were growing increasingly panicked. You began to swing a punch at the...thing, but it disappeared back inside you. "Oh no... no no no"
Soon it appeared from behind. "Y/n"
You turned around, getting a proper look at it. "Who are you..."
"I... am venom, and you, are mine"
Whatever it was... it wasn't human... or you were just batshit crazy. You flopped down on the couch, thoughts running through your mind as venom just simply grinned at you. He made himself at home with you already, you were strong, stronger than anyone else they'd shoved him into.
"I gotta get you back"
"What!!?? NO !!!"
"And why not !!" You stood up looking at him.
"I'm not going back there !! I'll die !!" He growled at you.
Before you could clap back at him, you heard a loud knock at the door, an all too familiar knock, your landlord.
"Do not open that door..." Venom wreathed back inside you.
You hesitantly walked to the door, ignoring his advice and opened the door, Your landlord was known to be an asshole but this time when you opened the door, he dialled it up to 11. Pushing you inside. "You need to pay your goddamn rent !!"
"I will ok, I'm just a little behind, I'm getting paid..." You were soon punched in the nose.
"News flash !! You need to pay your rent !!" He was gonna throw another one but you... involuntarily grabbed his fits. You frowned and soon tossed him across with unbelievable strength. You weren't even controlling your body at this point. Your new little alien buddy wasn't gonna let him get anything in. Soon a tendril wrapped around his ankle and brought him to you, but soon your face was wrapped around the black goo, revealing venom's face to scare him.
"OK OK !!! Two weeks !! Two weeks !!" He cried out.
Venom dropped him and he soon bolted, You wandered slowly to the door thinking... holy shit.
"Thank you"
"You are welcome" venom said.
Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to keep venom around.

Venom fanfic recs
A black dot • means it's a one-shot
A heart ♡ means it's focused on Sexy times (it's pure filth PWP, or like, a plot focused on getting to the porn part lol)
Wildehack: “Intra-personal negotiation” (Eddie/Venom) • How fucked is that, that a compromise that ended with eating raw shark liver under the Golden Gate Bridge in the dead of night is probably the most interpersonally mature he’s ever been? Intra-personally, Venom corrects, not really paying attention.
Arahir: “Wrapped around your finger” (Eddie/Venom) • Venom goes about love in every wrong way he knows how. Thank god for late night television. “Me. They invited me for dinner,” Eddie insists, trying again to make his hair look some specific way in the mirror. He’s given up and started over three times. It’s a double date. Like on that show. “What—what are you watching that there are double dates? Jesus. I should cancel cable. Make you read a book instead.” No!
Impertinence: “Something Like A Pipe Bomb” (Venom/Eddie) Eddie already had enough problems, what with being a busy reporter with an alien parasite, when he caught one of his neighbors holding a fridge above her head. Now he has twice as many problems, including a kid who won't stop treating him like the big brother she never had and a moody alien parasite. Or: you can totally secretly pine while sharing a brain with someone else, as Venom and Eddie are both determined to prove.
Pepperfield: “That blessed arrangement” (Venom/Eddie) • That’s us, Eddie, Venom says suddenly, with a bizarre amount of intensity. We’re like these two fools. Eddie squints at the screen for a second before he understands. “What, married?” Venom is well aware that they live in a romantic comedy. Eddie isn’t, but he’ll get the picture eventually.
Dezemberzarin: “The no dating policy” (Venom/Eddie) • a two-shot series What’s the point? Eddie glances around to the other people hurrying along the sidewalk, lowers his voice until he’s muttering into the collar of his jacket. “I like sex! I want to have sex again in the future, so you’ll have to find a way to deal with it.” If you say so.
xzombiexkittenx: “Nice to Taste” (Venom/Eddie) • Eddie doesn’t do well when he thinks the symbiote died in the fire. He doesn’t tell Dan that suicide is the reason he’s in this mess in the first place. He didn’t go to the Golden Gate Bridge to throw Anne’s engagement ring into the water, he went there to throw himself but got distracted by Dr. Skirth’s messages and justice against Drake instead.
Tuesday: “Terms of Endearment” (Venom/Eddie) • In which there are accidental pet names, Eddie leaning into being in love with an alien symbiote, and an ill-advised kidnapping. — The first time Eddie called Venom dear, it was automatic. They were shopping, and Eddie bypassed the freezer section to pick up some chocolate first. Venom said, "Don't forget the tater tots." Eddie, well-trained by more than one serious relationship in his life, said, "Yes, dear."
Ottergirl: “Heartthrob” (Venom/Eddie) ♡ • He feels encompassing when Eddie says that, he feels like there's no end to him. All that affection in Eddie's voice and the knowing, knowing he wants to be with Venom, wants to belong to Venom. Eddie calls Venom by a pet name, and Venom likes it. Maybe a little too much.
MercurialTenacity: - “Nightlife” (Venom/Eddie) ♡  • Eddie is soft when he sleeps. During the day he’s wound taut, one thing or another always running through his head and keeping tension in his muscles, but when he’s asleep - oh yes, when he’s asleep his defenses melt away. All the hard edges smooth out, his body goes all loose and pliant, and his mind mellows into the background. Venom loves when Eddie sleeps, and he does it for hours at a time. Sometimes even eight or nine. Nine whole hours, and Venom has its host’s warm body right there to explore.
Redredribbons: “Storms” (Venom/Eddie) • The Symbiote struggles to understand human habits and biorhythms. Especially Eddie's, when his own brain seems intent on sabotaging him.
Stereobone: “No Idea That You’re in Deep” (Venom/Eddie) ♡  • If the last eight months have shown Eddie anything, it's that foresight is not his strong suit.
Surveycorpsjean: - “Lovesick Baby” (Venom/Eddie) Eddie spent his whole life alone in his head. Now he’s not sure he could ever go back. Sometimes, you want things you shouldn't.

Chapter Twenty Four
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hello, doctor," Jacob greeted, strapped onto a chair.
"Hello there," the doctor responded. "Did you have the same reactions regardless of the temperature.."
As Dora strolled by, the conversation carried on inaudibly. Her mind was preoccupied with Eddie and Carrie's safety, and the possibility of Drake discovering her involvement in their break-in and uncovering the Life Foundation's true motives. She was also concerned about Estelle, who had been terminated by Drake for standing up to him and refusing to participate in the unethical experiments. Estelle had also aided Eddie and Carrie in their mission.
And just like a mind reader, Drake appeared by her side.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Skirth," he said her with an air of tranquility.
Dora's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face Drake, her face betraying none of the turmoil within her. She forced a smile, hoping to mask her unease. "Hello, Dr. Drake," she replied, her voice steady despite the racing thoughts in her mind.
Drake's piercing gaze seemed to penetrate through her facade, as if he could see right through her. Dora's palms grew clammy, her mind racing to come up with a plausible explanation for her involvement in Eddie and Carrie's escape. She had always been careful, ensuring that her actions were discreet and untraceable. But now, with Drake standing before her, she couldn't help but feel a sense of impending doom.
"I trust everything is going smoothly with our research?" Drake inquired, his voice calm and composed. Dora nodded, her mind racing to find the right words. She couldn't afford to arouse suspicion, not when so much was at stake.
"Yes, Dr. Drake," she replied, her voice steady. "The experiments are progressing as planned, and we are making significant breakthroughs."
It was a lie, of course.
Drake's eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. Dora's heart pounded in her chest, fearing that he had seen through her deception. But then, to her relief, he smiled. "Excellent," he said, his voice filled with satisfaction. "I knew I could count on you, Dr. Skirth."
Dora's relief was short-lived, however, as Drake's smile turned into a sinister grin. "But remember, loyalty is of utmost importance," he warned, his voice laced with a veiled threat. "Anyone who betrays the Life Foundation will face severe consequences."
Dora's blood ran cold as she realized that Drake was alluding to Estelle's fate. She had seen firsthand the lengths to which Drake would go to protect the Life Foundation's secrets. Estelle's dismissal had been just the beginning, and Dora knew that if her own involvement was discovered, she would suffer a similar fate.
"Dr. Drake!" Emerson's urgent voice echoed through the hallway as he sprinted towards them. Drake and Dora quickly followed, their hearts pounding with anticipation. What could be so important that Emerson had to interrupt them like this?
They arrived at the room where Jacob was being held captive, and it was evident that he was in a state of exhaustion. Drake was the first to break the silence, his voice filled with concern. "The creature and the host are intertwined, but everything seemed fine. Why is the human deteriorating despite our efforts?"
Emerson shook his head, frustration evident in his voice. "I can't explain it. We've provided him with enough nourishment to sustain an elephant, yet his condition worsens."
Dora chimed in, her voice laced with worry. "The Symbiote, on the other hand, seems to be thriving. It's as if it's feeding off the host's vitality."
Drake's expression hardened, a mix of determination and frustration. "That's good news, but it's disheartening to see the host suffer. It's as if the Symbiote is consuming his organs, slowly draining the life out of him."
Emerson, ever the curious one, motioned towards a screen and turned up the volume. A piercing, high-pitched ring filled the room, causing Jacob to writhe in agony. The pain was unbearable, and his screams echoed through the sterile walls. Suddenly, a dark greenish symbiote began to emerge from his body, desperately trying to break free.
The sight was both mesmerizing and horrifying, a testament to the destructive power of the Symbiote. Drake, Dora, and Emerson exchanged worried glances, realizing that time was running out. They needed to find a way to save Jacob before it was too late.
Drake's eyes widened in alarm as he witnessed the scene unfolding before him. "Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?" he exclaimed, his voice laced with concern. "You're hurting it. Stop it!"
Emerson swiftly reacted, realizing the potential danger. With a quick flick of a switch, the sound abruptly ceased, causing the symbiote to retreat back into Jacob's form. "Sounds in the 4,000 to 6,000 hertz range are very harmful for it," Emerson explained, his voice filled with a mix of urgency and scientific knowledge.
Drake's brows furrowed, his protective instincts kicking in. "Well, then don't make those sounds," he commanded firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument.
The gravity of the situation sank in, and Jacob nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of avoiding such harmful frequencies. "Okay," he replied, his voice tinged with relief and gratitude for Drake's intervention.
Drake let out a heavy sigh, his brows furrowing with concern. "He was finally stabilizing. What could have possibly gone wrong?" he questioned, his voice laced with worry.
Dora, with a grave expression, responded, "He's on the verge of acute liver failure."
Drake's eyes widened in realization, his frustration evident. "We'll have to find another host," he concluded, his tone tinged with disappointment. "It's such a flawed design."
Dora's confusion was palpable as she asked, "Excuse me?"
Drake shook his head, his gaze fixed on the fragile human form before him. "Human beings," he muttered, a mix of frustration and compassion in his voice.
Drake soon noticed a man with a shaved head approaching him. The man was wearing a black security jacket and his eyes were fixed on Drake. As he got closer, Drake could see that the man's name was Roland Treece and he had something important to tell him. Suddenly, Treece stopped in his tracks and apologized for interrupting.
"I have some good news for you," he said, but the look on his face made Drake feel uneasy and Dora's heart sank as she sensed that something was wrong.
Treece leaned in close to Drake's ear, his voice barely audible above the soft rustling of leaves outside. He whispered that made Drake's eyes widened in surprise. He nodded, expressing his gratitude, as Treece walked away, disappearing into the shadows. Drake's gaze shifted, his attention now focused on Dora.
"Dora," Drake spoke softly, his voice filled with a calmness that belied the gravity of the situation. "Could you please come with me?"
Dora nodded briefly, her heart pounding in her chest as she followed Drake into the desolate room where Isaac had met his untimely end. The eerie atmosphere sent a chill down her spine, but she pressed on, determined to face whatever awaited her. Drake turned around, his gaze piercing and serious.
"How are you holding up?" he inquired, his concern evident in his eyes. "What are your thoughts on what we're embarking upon?"
Dora took a deep breath, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. "I've been troubled by our actions," she admitted, her voice tinged with unease.
Drake nodded understandingly, leaning back against a nearby desk. "I understand. We've all been plagued by doubts. It's the nature of our work."
Stepping away from the desk, Drake slowly approached her, his voice dropping to a whisper. "But I need you to tell me who was here with you. It's crucial. Their life is in imminent danger."
Dora shook her head, her eyes filled with apprehension. "I can't do that," she replied firmly.
"We can't rectify the situation unless we start with your friend," Drake's tone remained resolute, though a hint of feigned worry crept into his words. "The person who was here. Their life hangs in the balance. We need to bring them back here, where you can help keep them alive."
Leaning closer, Drake emphasized the urgency. "You understand that, don't you? Their life is at stake, and only you can save them."
Dora's heart pounded in her chest, her fear threatening to consume her. She desperately wanted to confide in him, to share the burden that weighed heavily on her shoulders. Sensing her distress, Drake gently placed his hands on her trembling shoulders, his touch offering a glimmer of comfort.
"Hey, Dora," he spoke softly, his voice filled with reassurance. "I promise you, we won't let history repeat itself. Will you trust me?"
The words spilled out of Dora's lips, her voice laced with anxiety. "Eddie Brock. And Carrie. I don't know her last name."
Drake's expression tightened, his lips forming a thin line. "Eddie Brock?" he repeated, his voice tinged with concern.
Dora nodded, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and uncertainty.
"Well, finding Brock won't be too difficult, but Carrie... there are countless Carries out there," he muttered, his tone heavy with disappointment. He briefly glanced at the ground before making his way towards the container housing the yellow symbiote. "You were our best shot."
With a determined press, the container opened, unleashing the symbiote onto the floor. It slithered and snarled, its presence sending shivers down Dora's spine.
Panic surged through her veins, and she instinctively moved backward, desperately trying to distance herself from the menacing creature.
"No! Please, no!" she pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. "No! No! No!"
But Drake remained calm, his eyes fixed on the symbiote as it writhed and twisted on the ground.
The young girl, with hair as white as freshly fallen snow, fixated her gaze upon the colossal black egg that had been laid by the mighty Big Mother. Crimson veins intricately encircled the surface of the egg, captivating the child's attention with its mysterious allure. With her pitch-black eyes, she observed every detail, her curiosity unwavering.
"Umbra," a deep voice resonated, breaking the girl's concentration. "Step away from the egg."
Umbra turned to find her father, Knull, entering the room. His flowing white locks trailed behind him, and his piercing red eyes surveyed the surroundings.
"I'm sorry, father," Umbra replied innocently. "Do we have a name for it yet?"
"Yes, its name is XYSV3M0N."
Umbra shook her head, a slight frown forming on her face. "That's not a very pleasant name, father."
"Well, it's not a pet. This is akin to thousands of your siblings, but this one will hold great significance for you. It will shield you from adversaries. It will poison them, much like..."
"Like venom?" Umbra interjected, completing her father's thought.
"Yes, precisely." Knull nodded, impressed by his daughter's astuteness. "XYSV3M0N is a formidable weapon, Umbra. You must treat it with utmost respect and care."
Umbra nodded, fully comprehending the gravity of the situation. She was well aware that her father ruled over the symbiote race, and that XYSV3M0N was a prized possession within their kingdom. Anticipation coursed through her veins as she eagerly awaited the unveiling of its power.
Later, Umbra observed as the egg began to crack, the faint sounds of movement emanating from within. She knew that the moment of XYSV3M0N's emergence was imminent. As she pondered the name her father had bestowed upon the egg, she couldn't help but feel that it was too lengthy for the small creature within. Patiently, she waited, her excitement mounting with each passing second.
Finally, the egg split open, revealing a diminutive black creature adorned with veins of pale grey. It peered up at Umbra with its small, white eyes, and an unspoken connection formed between them.
"Hello, Venom," Umbra whispered tenderly, extending her hand to touch the creature and it nestled against her palm.
Carrie's eyes fluttered open, dispelling the remnants of her dream. She gently massaged her forehead, trying to shake off the lingering traces of sleep.
"Did you sleep well?" Eddie's voice broke through the silence, reaching Carrie's ears.
Carrie simply nodded in reply, a faint smile gracing her lips. It was a half-truth. Her mind was consumed by the vivid dream she had just experienced. This time, she had encountered Knull, but there was an unexpected presence—a young possible alien girl named Umbra. The revelation of Knull having a daughter had caught her off guard.
She couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in her chest. She had always imagine Knull to be a formidable being, but the thought of him having a child was unsettling. She wondered what kind of person Umbra was and what her role in Knull's plans was. She also wondered if she is still alive or not.
The tram glided along the tracks, carrying Eddie and Carrie, who were sitting side by side. She could hear the birds squawking through the bellowing horn. Eddie appeared even more unwell, his pallor reflecting the dark, inky substance that had transferred from Maria into his body. Despite his condition, Carrie's worry for him remained unwavering, even though he had expressed his trust solely in Anne.
"Are you alright?" Carrie inquired, her concern evident in her voice.
Eddie released a shaky breath before responding, "I think so." His gaze shifted towards Carrie, who trembled beside him. Without hesitation, he removed his worn brown leather jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"But Eddie, this is your jacket," Carrie protested softly, her eyes filled with gratitude.
Eddie offered her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about it, Carrie. I want you to stay warm."
Carrie felt a warmth spread through her chest at Eddie's selfless gesture. She couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for doubting him earlier. Despite what was happening right now, he still managed to put others before himself.
The bell dinged and, out of nowhere— "HUNGRY!" — Eddie sprang up from his spot on the tram, clutching onto the sturdy steel poles with determination, hoisting himself up in one swift motion. The unexpected action elicited gasps and exclamations from the startled passengers. Carrie, sensing his unease, rose from her seat, her expression filled with concern, attempting to alleviate the awkwardness of the situation.
"Damn it!" Eddie exclaimed, much to the annoyance of the disgruntled passengers, eliciting a few scoffs in response. Despite the discomfort, he couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm fine, don't worry about me."
Carrie leaned in and whispered to him, "We should probably get off."
As they moved aside, Eddie politely asked, "Can I get through, please?" They obliged and he replied, "Excuse me. Thank you."
Once he stopped by the door frame, Carrie turned to Eddie and suggested, "Let's get off at the next stop."
Eddie nodded in agreement, noticing that a few people were giving them odd looks.
"I'll just stay here, alright?" Eddie reassured them. "Until the cable car comes to a stop."
Eddie and Carrie swiftly disembarked from the tram, leaving the other passengers in a state of utter bewilderment, their minds racing to comprehend what had just transpired.
Carrie couldn't help but voice her confusion, her voice laced with curiosity, "What on earth was that?"
Eddie, still grappling with the inexplicable events that had unfolded, shook his head in disbelief. "I honestly have no idea," he admitted, his mind struggling to make sense of his own actions. "It felt as though some external force had taken control of my entire being."
Unbeknownst to them, a deep male voice resonated within Eddie's mind, and Carrie heard it, offering an explanation that sent shivers down their spines. "That, Eddie, is the very essence of our bond," it whispered, its words dripping with an enigmatic allure.
Carrie's eyes widened in shock as she tried to comprehend the voice's meaning. "What bond?" she asked, her voice trembling with fear.
Eddie, noticing the sudden change in Carrie's demeanor, turned to her with concern etched on his face. "What's wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
Carrie hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, her voice barely above a whisper. "I heard a voice in your head again," she said, her eyes darting around nervously. "It spoke of a bond between you and the voice."
Eddie's eyes widened in surprise as he tried to process what Carrie had just said. "A bond?" he repeated, his voice filled with confusion.
Carrie nodded slowly, her eyes fixed on Eddie's. "Yes," she said. "I don't know what it meant by that but—.”
Eddie's mind raced as he tried to make sense of the situation. "What kind of bond?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Carrie shrugged, her eyes still fixed on Eddie's.
Suddenly, a dark, feminine voice echoed in Eddie's mind. "He's the perfect match," it said.
Carrie's eyes widened in shock as she heard the voice too. "My own voice said you're the perfect match," she repeated.
Eddie's heart skipped a beat as he realized what was happening. "Perfect match?" he repeated, his voice trembling. "What does that even mean?"
Carrie shook her head, her expression troubled. "I don't know," she said. "But I think we need to find out."
Eddie nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. "Maybe it's some kind of psychic connection," he said. "Or maybe it's something more... supernatural."
Carrie's eyes widened in fear. "Supernatural?" she repeated. "What do you mean?"
Eddie paused for a moment, grappling to articulate his thoughts. "I'm not entirely sure," he confessed. "It's almost as if..." He trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
"Like it's trying to coexist," Carrie concluded, a sudden realization dawning upon her. "Like symbiosis." A sudden epiphany illuminated her mind. "Symbiote... That's it!"
"What?" Eddie questioned, bewildered by her sudden outburst.
"Whatever was happening, they were attempting to coexist within humans," Carrie explained. "That's what Drake was subjecting them to. Maria was a part of it."
Carrie's expression darkened at the mention of Maria.
"She was the perfect match," she continued. "She was a perfect match for the symbiote that's inside you right now. But something went wrong, and now Maria is gone."
Eddie's heart sank at the mention of Maria's fate. "So what do we do now?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"We need to find out more about this symbiote," Carrie replied, determination in her voice. "We need to understand it, and figure out why it bonded with you."
Eddie nodded, his mind racing with the possibilities. "But how do we do that?" he asked.
A slight frown creased Carrie's forehead as she pondered the question. "I don't know," she admitted. "Maybe I should ask Estelle. Maybe she might know something that—"
The thunderous voice reverberated within Eddie's mind, causing him to flinch involuntarily. "NO!" it bellowed, sending shivers down his spine.
Concern etched across her face, Carrie called out to Eddie, her voice laced with worry. "Eddie!"
"Stay calm," reassured the dark, feminine voice that echoed within Carrie's thoughts. "I will not leave you."
The deep voice couldn't help but express his concern. "But you were alone last time. And you..."
The conversation between the deep voice and the dark feminine voice abruptly ended, leaving them both feeling confused.
Carrie's brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of the situation. "What just happened?" she questioned, her voice filled with curiosity and concern. "What were they talking about?"
Eddie shook his head, still trying to process the sudden interruption. "I'm not sure," he admitted, his voice tinged with unease.
Carrie's eyes narrowed as she tried to piece together the puzzle. "Something is definitely going on," she murmured, her voice filled with determination. "We need to find out the truth, no matter what it takes."
Eddie nodded in accord, his thoughts now consumed by the enigma that enveloped them.
"Just you go home and get some rest. I'll talk to Estelle and get some information out of her," Carrie said, her words laced with confidence.
Eddie nodded once again and they journeyed back to Hotel Schuller, his mind still racing with questions and possibilities. As he walked in his apartment room, Carrie's determined expression remained etched in his memory, fueling his own determination to unravel the mystery that lay before them.
As Carrie entered her apartment, she spotted Estelle slumped on the couch, looking drained and defeated. Carrie knew that Estelle had been working at the Life Foundation and couldn't help but wonder if something had gone wrong.
"Estelle, what happened at the Life Foundation?" Carrie asked, her voice laced with concern.
Estelle let out a deep sigh before responding, "I got fired. I stood up to Drake for his unethical experiments and he didn't take it well."
Carrie's eyes widened in shock, "That's terrible! But you did the right thing, Estelle. You stood up for what you believed in."
Estelle managed a small smile, "Thanks, Carrie. It means a lot to hear that."
Carrie walked over to the couch and sat down next to Estelle, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Tell me everything, Estelle. What exactly happened with Drake and these unethical experiments?" Carrie asked, her concern growing deeper.
Estelle took a deep breath, her voice filled with a mix of frustration and determination. "Well, you know how the Life Foundation has been conducting experiments on human subjects, right? They claim it's for the greater good, but it's just plain wrong. They're manipulating people's lives and endangering their well-being."
Carrie nodded, her eyes narrowing as she listened intently. "And you confronted Drake about this?"
Estelle nodded, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and defiance. "Yes, I couldn't stay silent anymore. I confronted him about the unethical nature of these experiments and how they were violating the rights of the subjects. I told him that I couldn't be a part of something so morally wrong."
Carrie's admiration for Estelle grew even stronger. "That takes a lot of courage, Estelle. I'm proud of you for standing up for what you believe in, even if it meant losing your job."
Estelle sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "It wasn't an easy decision, Carrie. I loved working at the Life Foundation and believed in their mission. But I couldn't ignore the harm they were causing. I had to do what was right."
"You made the right choice, Estelle. Sometimes doing what's right means making sacrifices. But I know you'll find something even better, something that aligns with your values."
Estelle managed a weak smile, gratitude shining in her eyes. "I just hope that by speaking out, I can make a difference and prevent others from being harmed."
Carrie nodded, her determination matching Estelle's. "You will, Estelle. We'll find a way to expose the truth and hold the Life Foundation accountable for their actions. We won't let them get away with this."
Overwhelmed with emotion, Estelle broke down in tears, her hands shielding her face. Sensing that there was more to this, Carrie turned towards her. "What's happening? What's the matter?"
"Dora..." Estelle whispered tearfully. "She's dead."
Carrie's heart sank as she reached out to comfort Estelle. "I'm so sorry, Estelle. I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now."
Estelle's voice trembled as she continued, her words choked with grief. "Dora was my best friend. She was the one who first discovered the horrifying truth about the Life Foundation. She risked everything to expose their unethical experiments and the harm they were causing to innocent lives."
Carrie's eyes widened in shock. "Dora? She was the one who started it all?"
Estelle nodded, her tears flowing freely. "Yes, she was. She was brave and selfless, always fighting for what was right. But the Life Foundation... they silenced her. They took her away from us, and now she's gone."
Carrie's fists clenched at her sides, her blonde hair whipping around her face. "Those monsters," she growled. "They'll pay for what they did to Dora."
The thought of those responsible for silencing Dora made her blood boil.
A dark, feminine voice whispered in Carrie's mind, tempting her with vengeance. "Maybe we should end them," she suggested.
Carrie's voice barely above a whisper, she responded to the voice, her words laced with a mix of anger and regret. "Maybe I should have," she confessed.
Estelle, taken aback by Carrie's words, looked at her with concern and confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Carrie's gaze hardened as she met Estelle's eyes. "I mean, maybe I should have taken matters into my own hands a long time ago. Maybe I should have fought back against the Life Foundation, exposed their corruption, and protected Dora before it was too late."
Estelle's brows furrowed, her tears momentarily forgotten as she tried to comprehend Carrie's words. "But Carrie, you couldn't have known. None of us could have predicted what they would do to Dora. Blaming yourself won't bring her back."
Carrie's jaw tightened, her voice filled with determination. "I know, Estelle. But I can't help but feel responsible. Dora… well, I failed her, pretty, much. I failed to protect her from those monsters."
Estelle reached out and gently placed a hand on Carrie's trembling shoulder. "Carrie, you can't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. We all loved Dora, and we all wish we could have done more. But blaming yourself won't change what happened. What we can do now is honor her memory and fight for justice in her name."
Carrie's eyes softened as she looked at Estelle, gratitude mingling with her grief. "You're right, Estelle. We can't change the past, but we can make sure that Dora's sacrifice was not in vain. We will expose the Life Foundation for what they truly are, and we will make sure that no one else suffers like Dora did."
Estelle nodded, her voice filled with determination. "Together, Carrie. We will bring them down together."
A newfound strength surged through Carrie's veins. The dark voice that had whispered in her mind was drowned out by the unwavering determination to seek justice for Dora. With Estelle by her side, she knew they would not rest until the truth was revealed and those responsible were held accountable.
Carrie's eyes narrowed, her heart no longer pounding with fear, but with a fierce determination. The winds whipped around her, carrying her golden locks like a banner of defiance. She would not let Dora's memory fade away. She would fight, she would expose, and she would make sure that the Life Foundation paid dearly for what they had done.
Meanwhile, Eddie paced around the kitchen, his mind still reeling from the events of earlier. His phone rang, and he quickly answered, seeing Anne's name on the screen.
"Hey, Anne," he greeted her.
"Eddie, how are you feeling?" Anne asked.
"I'm not doing so great," Eddie replied, rubbing his head.
"Well, Eddie, you have a parasite," Anne explained. "They're not sure how you got it, but it would explain the fever."
Eddie nodded, understanding. "That makes sense," he said. "But I'm also hearing a voice."
"Auditory hallucinations are common with this type of parasite," Dan's voice came through the phone, and Eddie felt a twinge of jealousy.
"Hey, Dan," he said. "I didn't realize you were on the call too."
"Yeah, I'm here," Dan replied.
Eddie hummed in response before asking, "Hey, Dan, do you think this parasite could make me climb a really tall tree super fast?"
"Yes. We just did." The deep voice said and Eddie flinched, rubbing the back of his head and neck.
Eddie felt a shiver run down his spine at the thought of the parasite controlling his actions. He knew he needed to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Dan paused for a moment before answering, "It's possible. It could be causing metabolic abnormalities that are making it hard for your body to maintain homeostasis."
Eddie's brow furrowed in confusion as he tried to process Dan's explanation. "You said 'causing' and 'body,' and... I lost you," he admitted, his voice tinged with frustration.
Realizing Eddie's struggle, Dan took a deep breath and decided to approach the conversation from a different angle. "Listen, Eddie," he began, his tone gentle yet determined. "We're going to get you on some medications, ones that can help alleviate these issues. We're going to find a way to clear all of this out, I promise."
Eddie's eyes lit up with hope as he immediately agreed with Dan's plan. "Yes," he responded eagerly, his voice filled with gratitude. "Yes, let's do it."
But just as Eddie's optimism started to take hold, a deep voice echoed in his mind, shattering his newfound confidence. "Never gonna happen," it whispered, its words dripping with malice.
Feeling overwhelmed, Eddie instinctively covered his phone with his hand, as if trying to shield himself from the voice's influence. "Will you stop doing that now? Not now," he pleaded, his voice laced with desperation.
Anne, sensing Eddie's distress, spoke up with genuine concern. "Eddie, we're just trying to help you," she reassured him, her voice filled with compassion.
Eddie let out a weary sigh, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know, I know," he muttered, his words tinged with exhaustion. "I'm just... I'm not actually talking to you, Annie."
Anne's worry deepened as she tried to make sense of Eddie's cryptic statement. "Who are you talking to?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.
Feeling the weight of the situation, Dan interjected, his voice firm yet understanding. "Eddie, why don't you take a moment to collect yourself? Call us back when you're ready, alright?"
Eddie nodded, grateful for Dan's understanding. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Dan. Thank you. Thank you, both."
After ending the call, Eddie placed his phone on the kitchen counter. Suddenly, the sound of an electric guitar playing rock music riffed through his apartment. The pain he felt was similar to the one he experienced when he was in the MRI machine. It was as if the parasite inside him wanted to escape but couldn't. He tried to cover his ears and inhale to suppress the sound, but it didn't work. The room vibrated, and the symbiote was in agony as the guitar feedback screeched.
Eddie knew who was responsible for the noise. He marched out of his apartment and banged on Ziggy's door repeatedly and angrily. The guitar stopped, and Ziggy opened the door.
"What's up?" Ziggy asked.
"Can you please turn down your music? I'm having a hard time," Eddie said breathlessly.
Ziggy scoffed. "Whatever."
Suddenly, the symbiote took over Eddie, and his blue eyes turned into full white eyes. Black veins emerged on his face, and a growl escaped from his teeth. Ziggy was taken aback by this sudden transformation. Eddie returned to normal, and Ziggy nodded shakily.
"Yeah, sure, man. I'll turn it down. Sorry," Ziggy said.
"Thank you," Eddie said and walked back into his apartment, closing the door behind him, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.
The symbiote had taken over his body, leaving him feeling like a mere passenger in his own skin. As he walked towards the kitchen, a sudden craving for potato tots overtook him. Without hesitation, he made his way to the freezer and retrieved the bag of frozen tots. With a sense of purpose, he poured them onto the tray and placed them in the oven. The sound of the oven door closing echoed through the empty apartment, a stark reminder of the solitude he now faced. As he waited for the tots to cook, Eddie couldn't help but wonder if this was his new reality - a life controlled by the symbiote, with only potato tots to bring him comfort.
He sat down on his couch after putting it on and Eddie couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt wash over him. He knew that he had let the symbiote take control, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had gone too far. He had always struggled with the symbiote's influence, but this time, he had let it get the best of him.
He tried to distract himself by turning on the TV, but his mind kept wandering back to the encounter with Ziggy. He knew that he needed to find a way to control the symbiote, to keep it from taking over like that again.
As he sat there, lost in thought, he heard a knock at his door. He hesitated for a moment, wondering if it was Ziggy coming to confront him, but then he heard a familiar voice.
"Eddie, it's me, Carrie."
"She's back! She's safe!" The deep voice boomed
Relieved, he got up and opened the door to find Carrie standing there, concern etched on her face.
"Are you okay?" she asked, stepping inside.
Eddie nodded, but he knew that he couldn't keep the truth from her. He told her about the encounter with Ziggy, about how he had let the symbiote take control.
Carrie listened patiently, her expression never wavering. When he was finished, she took his hand and looked him in the eye.
"Eddie, you can't let the symbiote control you like that. You have to find a way to control it."
"Yeah, that's not gonna happen any time," the dark feminine voice said.
Eddie knew that she was right. He had to find a way to keep the symbiote in check, to prevent it from taking over like that again.
Carrie's senses were suddenly alerted as a distinct scent of something burning wafted through the air. Her nose twitched, and she turned to Eddie with a concerned expression. "Are you cooking something?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.
Eddie's eyes widened in realization, and panic washed over him. "Oh, shit," he exclaimed, hastily making his way to the kitchen. With a swift motion, he retrieved the charred potato tots from the scorching oven, using a dish towel to shield his hands from the searing heat.
As he gingerly nursed his burnt fingers, a deep voice resonated within Eddie's mind, urging caution. "Do not open that door," it warned, its tone filled with an eerie authority.
Carrie, her voice tinged with a hint of darkness, added her own thoughts. "We should hide," she suggested, her words carrying an air of secrecy and trepidation.
Confusion etched across their faces, Eddie and Carrie spoke in perfect unison, their voices blending together. "What?" they exclaimed, their bewilderment mirroring one another.
And as if on cue, a series of knocks reverberated through the door, shattering the tranquility of the moment.

Horror’s Ultimate | AUish!Carlton Drake x Reader
Words: 6,939 (Yup)
Warning: Car crash, injuries, some swearing, angst, slight dark themes (but, you know, it’s Carlton Drake and it’s Venom-verse).
A/N: There’s references to The Brain that Wouldn’t Die (1962), Frankenstein, and the Night Of. I’m already thinking of fanfic ideas for the latter. This idea had been in my head for awhile and since it’s Riz Ahmed’s bday on Dec. 1, I decided to upload it around that time.
Summary: You and your fiance Carlton Drake were on your way home when a storm hit, causing the car to veer off the road. When you come to, you were the most injured, unable to move your body. Carlton swears he’ll do anything to make you better again, and you fear he’ll do exactly what you warned him not to do.
-
You crossed your arms as you stood to the side of your boyfriend’s office as he talked animatedly to his lab workers. After they started the human trials, there had been progress with the surviving subjects and he ordered them to take the tests further. It was a huge scientific breakthrough and he wanted progress to happen fast. He was brilliant, but you didn’t think he would forget the basics this often. The fact that he pushed for human trials after testing on animals was a large sign. You weren’t allowed in the “cells”, as you called it, but you had a hunch of what kinds of conditions those people were in. You insisted that they were kept healthy and well fed while they were monitored, knowing that health always plays a factor in these kinds of tests.
The workers were soon dismissed and you were left alone with Carlton. He was smiling to himself as he packed his things, practically humming, in fact. You stepped towards him, walking around his desk to lean your head on his shoulder. He hummed, kissing the top of your head.
“We are making history,” he said, packing the last of his things into his work bag. “Soon, we won’t even have to deal with sickness, with this dying planet, (Y/n).”
“Aren’t you getting ahead of yourself?” you asked, grabbing the bag from him.
He wrapped an arm around your waist so that you were completely facing him. “This is big, (Y/n). Once we find out how to achieve perfect symbiosis with these creatures, we could have the ability to live up there!”
“I guess finding a way to stop global climate change and replenishing natural resources takes a lot more time and money than taking a rocket and bonding with gooey aliens,” you deadpanned, scrunching your nose.
“If you put it that way, you make me sound like a mad man who doesn’t want to deal with this planet anymore.”
“That is exactly what you are, though.” All he did was shrug.
“Humanity keeps failing again and again. We can find a new planet out there. There’s tons already discovered. When we figure out the types of conditions these symbiotes can withstand, we could choose a livable planet to settle on and build a new civilization there.” He leaned in closer, pressing his forehead against yours. “Those problems that exists in this world wouldn’t exist in our new world. No sickness, no injury. We’d have new strength and abilities. Practically a new species.”
You sighed. “I just don’t want you to be reckless. I know you joke about me watching too many sci-fi horror, but there’s some truth to them. Don’t go messing around with something you don’t know and can’t control. These are different life forms. We don’t know anything about them besides what we see in the lab. We don’t know what their planet was like and how their societal system works. We don’t know if they’ll fully cooperate with us.”
Carlton nodded, kissing your forehead. “I’ll take that in mind when it gets to that point,” he said dismissively. “Right now, we have some binge watching to do, remember?” He grabbed your hand and lead you out the office. “What was that show you wanted to watch?”
“Ooh, The Night Of!” you said excitedly, using the distraction to push your worries away. “My favorite actor is in it!”
Carlton rolled his eyes. “Is that the only reason you wanted to watch that show? So you can drool over a guy on screen?”
You smacked him on the arm. “How long have you known me? We’re going to get married soon, so you should be used to this by now. Besides, he looks a lot like you.”
“Whatever you say, future Mrs. Drake.”
-
The weather was a lot rougher than the news reported, rain beating down on the car like you were going through a waterfall. Carlton cursed as the windshield wipers tried to keep up with the rain. You weren’t even halfway into town when a blurred figure ran across the road. Carlton swerved, missing the figure but lost traction on the road. Your stomach lurched as the car tumbled into the nearby treeline. You grabbed onto the door and your seat tightly in your attempts to ready for impact.
The last thing you heard was Carlton’s shout before everything went black.
You felt heavy, your head still spinning as you came to. The bright light stung your eyes, making you rapidly blink the adjust. There was a monitor nearby, beeping fast as you try to figure out where you were. You couldn’t feel your body, you couldn’t move your hands or feet. You could barely turn your head. You managed to let out a cry, tears already falls and wetting your ears and your hair.
“Ca-Carl… Carlton.” Your voice was hoarse, your throat stinging from the effort.
“Oh, my god, (Y/n), sweetie, I’m here,” you heard your fiance’s voice.
You heard a woosh as a door opened, Carlton rushing towards your side, cut and bruises littering his face and hands. His fingers gently brushed your hair out of your face and wiping your tears.
“I thought I lost you,” he breathed. “I managed to carry you out of the wreckage and back to the lab. There’s… a serum that I’ve worked on before we discovered the symbiotes. It was to prolong the patient’s life until they could receive the cure. It worked to some extent, but I hadn’t continued that research in a while, but it does work. Give me time and I can make you better, okay?”
You let out a whimper. “I’m paralyzed, aren’t I? Please, Carlton…” You began to break down again.
Carlton hesitated. “Do you want the truth?”
“Carlton-”
“Your body was pretty banged up… the car tumbled and ran into a tree on your side. You were practically pinned down. The security patrolling came as soon as they heard the crash and helped me. If you were to go to a hospital… you would have already been gone. I’m not going to let that happen. I can make you better,” he insisted. He cupped your cheek. “Just stay with me, okay. I don’t want to see my world without you.”
“Don’t do anything stupid,” you pleaded.
He said nothing, giving a gentle kiss to your lips before leaving you alone in the room. You closed your eyes, fighting the urge to scream.
-
Carlton would come in every day to check up on you and your vitals. Each time, he refused to tell you the extent of the damage, assuring you that once your wounds healed, the team could try physical therapy for you. While you lay there, each day, unable to move, your heart felt heavier and heavier. He couldn’t tell you what was going on and you weren’t allowed any visitors besides the doctors that worked at the facility. Dr. Skirth, you became a dear friend to you, would come in to check on you during the times Carlton couldn’t. It took a little persuasion to get her to tell you about the serum that Carlton made.
“It’s… initially created for patients who needed transplant but have to wait longer than their live expectancy to receive it. It keeps their vital stable by using fast adapting antibodies to make up for the missing organs. At least, that’s what I’ve been told. He hoped that with this serum, patients wouldn’t even have to wait for a compatible transplant, that it would help the body accept the new body parts. It hasn’t worked so far to that extent,” Dr. Skirth said quietly, adjusting the small TV you requested at the end of your bed.
You remained silent for a moment, allowing her words to sink in. Then you asked her, “What happened to me?”
Dr. Skirth stepped back from the bed. “Um, Dr. Drake told us not to worry you-”
“What happened to me?” you repeated firmly.
“Most… ,” she paused, looking around, then stepped closer to you. “Most of the bones in your body has been severely damaged and punctured a few of your vital organs. The serum and the anesthetics pumping into you are what’s keeping you alive until he figures out how to heal you completely.”
“No sickness… no injury,” you muttered under your breath as you continued to stare straight ahead. You knew what he was planning. He was going to use a symbiote to heal you.
“Are you… are you okay, (Y/n)? Do you want me to bring something to you? Or call Carlton?” Dr. Skirth asked softly.
“No… and I won’t tell on you, either. Thank you, Dora. You seemed to be the only one I trust here,” you said, leaning into the pillow. “I think I’ll rest for now, but can you turn on the TV at low volume. I need some ambient noise right now.”
“Sure thing. Just let me know if you need anything else.” She did as you requested and left without a word.
Your eyelids grew heavy as the black and white movie began.
“Let me die!” The woman shouted from the small TV. “Let me die!”
There were times when you’d dream about the crash. The rain pouring, the tires screeching, the world spinning outside the window, and Carlton struggling at the wheel. Then you’d dream about the quiet moments in your shared apartment, watching a movie and eating ice cream, Carlton mumbling about wedding plans after he finishes the project, his head resting on your chest as you lay on the couch, running your fingers through his dark hair. Then, gradually, he started to disappear, your fingers touching thin air and his weight leaving you, but you still couldn’t move. His body was replaced with searing hot metal and foliage and smoke, pinning and choking you.
You gasped awake, finding yourself sitting up. Slowly, you turn your head as far it could go and saw that the bed had inclined while you slept. Wincing, you turn your head to the other side and saw the machines that were hooked up to you on a small table nearby. Looking down, you saw that your body was covered neatly with a white blanket, tucked to the sides of the bed with your arms still at your sides and out of sight. Your temple started to ache as you looked around the room, a long window pane on one wall catching your attention. The machinery next to you started to whine as your vision seemed to go beyond the glass.
No doubt, you were in the one of the high-security labs, one of the “cells”. Down the hallway were more cells with people contained in various conditions. Many of them were curled up in the corner of their room, a few showing signs of unstable vitals. Your vision pulled back as Carlton came walking down the corridor looking pissed, a few of his security team trailing behind him.
“He left the building. We’ll make sure he’ll never set foot in here again,” one of the guards assured him.
“When I’m through with him, he’ll never set foot in any news channel again,” Carlton snapped, unbuttoning his suit jacket. A doctor scurried to his side and fell into step with him. “How is she?”
“She’s just woken up. Everything is looking stable, but we’re having some strange readings from-”
“So she should be ready for the symbiote, right?” The question was posed in a way that dared the poor doctor to object.
“I, uh, yes, sir.”
“Good, ready the symbiote today,” Carlton ordered.
The doctor nodded, heading straight to his research team. You followed on the doctor’s trail, the corridors growing dimmer as he went deeper into the lab where the cells were long empty, a few had clean-up crews cleaning the glass and the floors of a strange gooey substance. He entered a working station, a fortified glass capsule sitting in the middle containing a gooey, webby, writhing dark orange-ish thing that looked ready to crawl out and attack the first thing it sees. There appeared to be liquid being fed into the capsule, similar to the ones being pumped into you.
“(Y/n),” a deep voice growled from the capsule, making you pull back.
“(Y/n)!” you heard Carlton’s voice called out.
You opened your eyes slowly, taking in his relaxed demeanor despite what had transpired a minute ago. You forced the corner of your lips to lift as he came over to your side and kissed your forehead. As he pulled away, you dropped it and studied his face.
“It’s almost ready, (Y/n)! When the procedure is over, you can be better again and we can get married and travel and-”
“What’s this liquid you’re pumping into me? You’ve never mentioned this before,” you said.
Carlton paused, then laughed. “Well, it was still a work in progress, remember. I wanted to tell you when it was complete. This version of the serum is injected into the bloodstream and affects the lymphoid tissues, addressing the antibodies that attack foreign tissues efficiently without any harmful side effects.”
“Why not develop this serum instead of feeding humans to these alien symbiotes like a machine until there was a match?” you argued.
“I’ve tried. There’s seemed to be something missing and the symbiotes are still…,” he paused, “aren’t agreeing with the hosts.”
“They’re killing them from the inside and you plan to put one of those in me?” you asked incredulously.
You tried to move and found that you weren’t able to move your neck. Whatever happened a few minutes ago, it was through your mind, that much was clear. You debated on whether you should bring it up to Carlton. Evidently, he wasn’t aware of this particular side effect.
He laid a hand on yours. “It will work this time. I’m trying the serum on the symbiotes as well. Without a host, the symbiotes die within minutes.  It’s like a parasite.” There was a pain in your temple as you heard a growl in your head. You ground your teeth as you tolerated the pain. “Are you alright?”
“This is crazy, Carlton,” you said shakily, “I don’t want to be lying here as doctors constantly observe me. I can’t even move anything but my face. But… I don’t want some alien thing forced into my body either. You haven’t had a successful experiment, yet, and you’re just going to put that thing in me?”
Carlton sighed. “I understand your concerns. If you want, I can delay it, but I can… I can only keep you alive for so long until the serum lose sufficiency. You need to decide soon.”
The following nights, you tried your new powers again, sweeping the dark corners of the lab that Carlton kept hidden from you. Every time, you ended up in that one room with the glass capsule, the symbiote calling you. You tried to reach out to it.
“What do they call you?” you asked it.
“They called me Scream,” it said in an almost feminine-like voice.
“How many of you are here?”
“There were many, but we’re dying. There are much, much more where we come from. This is nothing.”
“Why do you kill your hosts? Don’t you need them to survive in our environment?”
“The hosts lacks the nutrients that we need. When we’re hungry, we eat what is available: pancreas, kidneys, lungs. The brain… the brain is the most delicious part,” Scream practically purred.
It should have unsettled you, but it came at no surprise that there was something that Carlton overlooked because of his impatience. “And why is that?” you persisted.
“You humans call it… phenethylamine. It keeps us sane and healthy. It is also found in-”
“Chocolate,” you finished, suppressing the urge to roll your eyes at the simple solution that could have saved so many lives in the highly advanced facility.
“Which is more socially acceptable here in this world.”
“Quite.” You thought for a moment. “Let’s say I stock up in phenethylamine in my body. Does that mean we’d be able to achieve symbiosis, given that my body is also kept relatively healthy?”
“And the fact that I’m starting to like you… yes, in theory.”
You sighed. “If Carlton insists I go through this… how do you feel about being here? Seeing your kind being studied and tested and dying?”
There was a pause. “We were trained as soldiers. Death should not affect us, but a soldier should not go out like this. I would normally follow my leader’s orders, although reluctant, but he is not here.”
“When we bond, do you want to put an end to this? This facility? Being constantly poked and prodded? Following orders you don’t agree with?”
Another pause. “Yes.”
“You have the power and strength while I have my body and mind. We need to work together on this to stop Carlton from killing more people.”
-
“Can I have some chocolate while I’m here?” you casually asked Carlton as he sat next to you, playing The Night Of on his laptop.
He hummed. “Sure,” he said, pulling out his phone to text one of his assistants. After the text was sent, he turned back to the show. “I don’t see it.”
“What?”
“The similarity. You said I looked like him.” He pointed at the main character as he tries to survive prison. “I don’t see it.”
You wished you could turn your head to give him an incredulous expression, but settled with raising an eyebrow.
“Are you kidding me? He looks so much like you. Probably cuter.” An assistant rushed in with two boxes of chocolate and made to hand them to Carlton. You wanted to snatch it away, realizing how much you missed indulging in junk food. Despite your will, your hands wouldn’t move. Instead, you opened your mouth expectantly, waiting for Carlton to feed you.
He held a piece of chocolate up. “How is he cuter?” he asked, taunting you with the sweet candy.
“Well, if you stopped frowning-”
“He’s in prison, getting addicted to drugs. He’s been brooding the whole time,” he argued. “I don’t brood.”
You snorted as your response. “Your the type of person that would sell someone to satan for one corn chip.”
Normal conversations like these made you conflicted. Do you still care for him after what he’s done? No, what he’s doing in this lab is inhumane. He had given up on humanity when he started this project. It’s evident in his reactions towards another failed experiment, how he was angry when the “intelligent life-form” died, instead of being angry over the death of the human subject.
You were growing frustrated as Carlton teased you with the chocolate.  “Give me the chocolate, Carlton Drake.”
“Okay, okay.”
He fed you the chocolate then looked down as he ran his thumb along the back of your hand, knowing you couldn’t feel it, but it was more to comfort himself than you. He knew you didn’t approve with his methods, but once you get better, maybe you will.
“You need to decide soon, (y/n/n),” he suddenly said, “I don’t know how long the serum will work. The readings are showing that it’s already been weakening. (Y/n)-”
“I’ll do it,” you said with a sigh. “I don’t seem to have any other choice.”
Carlton smiled in relief, leaning over to kiss you. “You’re going to get better once it’s done, then you’ll see why I need to see this project through.”
“Okay,” was all you said, directing your attention back to the show.
“Okay? Just okay? Before, you wanted to argue about using symbiotes. I know you’re agreeing to use it, but I feel like you would’ve had more input in it,” Carlton said, studying your face.
“What do you expect me to say, Car? I’m nervous as it is about this procedure… but if something does go wrong, will you still continue with this project?” You wanted to see how far he’ll go with this project, if an accident like that would ever stop him, or if he’ll keep going in an obsessed rampage. You even considered allowing the bonding to go wrong, or at least fake it.
“Nothing will go wrong. I’ll make sure of that,” he said firmly. “The serum should help the bonding, so the symbiote won’t reject the host.”
“The serum won’t be enough,” Scream hissed in your mind.
You grimaced, opening your mouth for more chocolate, to which he complied. Once he leaves, you planned to try and reach out to the other symbiotes in the lab.
-
Unfortunately, that reporter, Eddie Brock, had other plans that night.
“Something’s off,” Scream told you.
It was unusual to see Dr. Skirth at the lab late at night and she certainly didn’t have a reason to check on you when you’re already stable. You watched through your mind as she shoved the reporter into the lab, allowing him to take pictures of each containment. The woman in the cold climate cell turned towards the window and ran towards the glass, calling out to him. You mentally face-palmed as Eddie fumbled with the security pad, setting off the alarm. He took the nearest object, a fire extinguisher, and smashed the glass open, allowing the woman to charge at him. You sucked in a breath as the symbiote in her transferred to Eddie before she collapsed. He managed to escape the guards and the facility within minutes with the help of the symbiote.
Carlton was alerted not too long afterwards, the woman placed on a stretcher as Dr. Skirth remained quiet. He threatened the head of security to find his Symbiote, unconcerned about another human death.
Scream had let out a chuckle. “What is it?” you asked.
“I know who is with that man. Venom. He was a loser back home,” she said. “He could also be an ally.”
You woke up the next day as the door hissed open, Carlton rushing in again. He looked tensed, pacing around the room and checking all of the equipment. He let out a long ragged breath, running a hand through his hair as he studied your face, as if he was figuring out what to say.
You’ve seen him frustrated many times before and many times, you would comfort him, offering solutions and your own perspective. You considered telling him about the phenethylamine and about Scream. If you tell him what you’ve discovered, he’ll continue with the project, but the chances of success will be higher. Maybe his plans would actually work…
“No, this needs to end,” Scream interrupted. “Your sentiment for him is clouding your mind. When my leader finds this place, he’ll send more of our kind and invade this planet. Everyone follows his lead and he will never allow the humans to have complete control of their bodies once we’re bonded.”
“We need to do it today,” Carlton said, walking up to your bed.
“Do you share those thoughts with your kind?” you asked Scream.
There was a pause. “No. This project, this facility, and my kind trapped here, all needs to be destroyed.”
“Okay,” you said to Carlton. “Let’s get it over with.”
The research team wheeled in the capsule, the orange-ish goo writhing inside. Carlton leaned down and whispered words of comfort before kissing you. He nodded to the team, excusing them, then turned back for another kiss. It was hard and shaky, as if he was holding back all those emotions that threatened to spill out from the intimate act. He didn’t want to doubt himself. He wasn’t one to express himself openly, but he had tried to let those walls down when he’s around you. Yet, ever since the crash, he maintained this air of confidence that he always shown at work, that his ideas will change the world and all those mistakes were necessary to achieve those ideas. That was only a part of Carlton.
“I miss you,” you said as he pulled away. You missed all of him and if he was going to let that one side take over, he won’t be the same Carlton Drake anymore. If he can’t drop this project, he was lost to you.
“I’m right here,” he said, confused.
“No, I don’t think you are,” you wanted to say.
He frowned as you remained silent, planting one last kiss on your forehead before leaving the room. “Open it,” you heard him say as the doors closed.
The glass panel on the capsule slid open, allowing the symbiote to launch itself towards you. You sucked in a breath as Scream crawled over your chest and seemingly absorbed into you. True to her name, it made you scream, and scream, and scream, as your bones shifted in place and your organs were mended. The sensation reached your head, momentarily clouding your eyes, then it stopped, and you suddenly feel like you could do anything. Power now coursed through your body and it made you feel almost invincible.
“Hello, (Y/n),” Scream purred.
“Don’t make me regret this,” you said in your mind.
“I can see why you like him, that Carlton Drake,” she said, “too bad he’s gone mad… but he’s cute, though. I kind of don’t want to kill him. Make him our servant, (Y/n).”
“We need to plan first,” you said, feigning indifference. You began to move your arms and legs, relief flooding through you.
“Don’t lie, you like that idea. I’m in your body, remember?” Scream teased.
The door hissed open, Carlton rushing to your side as you swung your legs off the bed. “Whoa, be careful,” he said, holding your arms to steady you. “How do you feel?”
“Like I can do anything,” you breathed, standing up as he kept his hands on you for balance.
“The readings are stable. You’ve achieved symbiosis, (y/n/n)! We want to wait one more day to make sure everything’s okay. You’re okay?”
“Yes, I just want to go home. No more driving through rainstorms.”
“No more driving through any storms.”
“We are the storm,” Scream purred in your mind.
“Very original.”
“You love that quote.”
“Can you stay with me?” you asked Carlton, resting a hand on his shoulder.
You used your best puppy-eye look as he hesitated. You wrapped your arms around his waist and leaned into him. He needs to be distracted so they won’t find Eddie in time. He looked at the window, then back at you.
“I’m busy…,” he said, then quickly added, “but I’ll come back as soon as I’m free.”
“Can you bring food and chocolate? A lot of food and chocolate? I’m really hungry.”
“Anything for you,” he said with a reassuring smile.
“Anything?” you asked, your arms moving on their own, pulling him down for a kiss as Scream chuckled.
He let out a small groan and he made the kiss deeper, wrapping his arms around you. As he broke the kiss to breathe, he reluctantly pushed you at arms length.
“I need to go, but we will continue this once you’re given clearance.”
“Yes, please.” Carlton walked back out of the room, gesturing you to sit back down on the bed.
“We’re definitely making him our servant,” Scream said.
“You made me kiss him,” you defended.
“I moved your arms, I didn’t move your lips.”
“I have a twisted mind.”
“You already knew you were going to hell.”
You sighed. “When do we start?”
“Venom will likely make another scene. We use that to start moving, taking care of the labs, the data, and that horrid space station. The leader is on the move, I can feel it. He’ll find Carlton and use his space station to retrieve more of our kind down to Earth.”
“And who is this leader?”
“Riot.”
-
As always, whenever you tried to make a plan, Eddie fucking Brock does something. Scream had predicted this, but who knew that he’d end up losing Venom before you could reach out to him? After a day of observation, you were clear to go home. Once you reached your’s and Carlton’s home, you flopped onto the bed and wrapped yourself in a blanket burrito, never wanting to go into his lab again, even though you have to eventually.
Scream would interrupt your naps, urging you to find food. You found a seafood market, buying squid and octopus each time. Alive, of course. You’d made rice and rinsed the squirming food in a strainer, ignoring Scream as she told you to hurry up. Once the rice was finished, you’d dumped it into a large bowl along with the food, pouring shoyu over them. Grabbing the largest spoon in the kitchen drawer, you’d plop yourself down in front of the TV as the news replayed Carlton’s hired guards chasing Eddie Brock around San Francisco again. You currently slurped a tentacle down as you switched channels.
Your phone suddenly rang, Dora Skirth’s name popping up on the caller ID. Frowning, you picked up the phone to hear heavy breathing.
“Dora? Is everything okay?” you asked slowly.
“Oh, thank god, (Y/n). Listen, he doesn’t know I’m alive and… I don’t know. I don’t know what to do. I’m scared. I thought I was going to die, (Y/n)! He tried to murder me!” Dora panicked.
“Shh, calm down. What’s going on?”
“I let Eddie Brock into the lab-”
“I know, I saw. And Carlton found out?”
“How did you know?”
“A side effect he didn’t know would produce from his little serum.”
“I’m… in Chinatown, near Eddie Brock’s apartment. I didn’t know where else to go, but he’s not here. The symbiote, Agony, keeps wanting food and if I don’t eat any living thing then they’ll start eating me and I can’t go home and endanger the kids and…”
“Eat a lot of chocolate and live seafood is your best bet,” you told her. “I’m glad you’re safe, Dora, but how is Agony? Do you know what they were planning?”
“They… they don’t want anything to do with Riot’s plans anymore. That’s why they helped fake my death and we escaped the facility. I don’t want to go back there, (Y/n).” You could hear her trying to steady her breath.
“No,” Scream whispered suddenly.
“What?”
“Riot’s almost here in San Francisco.”
You thought for a moment. “Would it be possible for the host to purposely reject the symbiote?”
“No, even if we do manage to get through to Carlton, Riot will threatened to tear him up from the inside. He probably will if he doesn’t give him what he wants or when he’s done with him,” Scream spat.
“You don’t seem to like your leader that much.”
“No, he is a lot more than what Carlton has become. A visionary that strings people along with their confidence and charisma, ridding anything and anyone that gets in their way, especially those who continuously disappoint them.”
“You initially wanted to kill Carlton. What changed your mind?”
“You were convinced you wanted to kill him, too, but I know you wouldn’t. You still think you can save him even when he’s slipping away from you. You’re too… kind and generous. You knew he was doing human trials and you didn’t make a huge scene, only argued in private. Even then, you gave in. You think you’re equally as horrible for allowing this to happen. Honestly, it’s depressing in your head, but I’ll help you until we know that he’s a lost cause. I will take over and kill him when it comes to it.”
“So should we get Venom back?”
“Nah, I think he’ll find his way back to Eddie. He’s a loser, but he’s resourceful. We should meet up with him, though. You ready for a test drive?”
“(Y/n)?” you heard Dora say.
You hold your phone back up to your ear and grimaced. “You’re going to have to go back there. I need your help, and if Agony is on our side, this could work.”
“What do we need to do?”
“Destroy the lab and all its data.”
-
Travelling via rooftops seemed very convenient and avoids traffic. You raced passed streets, trying to find Venom. Scream remained alert, honing in on him and found that he was using a car to get to the facility. You heard her sighed in frustration as he sped through traffic, clipping countless vehicles as he passed.
“We’ll reach Eddie before him at this rate,” She said, launching you several feet in front of the car.
“Holy shit!” you shouted, stepping back as the car screeched to a halt. You peered through the windshield and saw who the host was. “Annie?”
“Oh my god, (Y/n), get in!” The blonde urged.
You rushed to the passenger’s seat and held onto the door as she instantly pressed on the gas. Your hand shot out and took over the steering, Scream deeming Venom incompetent in driving.
“So, uh, you’ve got one of those, too?” Anne asked, still trying not to freak out about the recent events.
“Huh, oh, yeah. I was in a car crash with Carlton and I was banged up pretty bad and he used this sci-fi serum and had me bond with this symbiote, whom I’ve acquainted with prior to the whole… thingy, and now we’re just trying to fix this mess that these incompetent and ridiculous men have done,” you said casually, Scream taking full control of the steering wheel while Anne leaned back.
“Who’s Scream? Venom, who’s Scream?” Anne muttered.
You feel Scream surface, covering half of your face, causing Anne to yelp. “That will be me,” Scream said, then went back inside.
“That feels funky,” you said, shaking it off.
“You’ll get used to it,” Venom and Scream said at the same time.
The car finally reached the facility, stopping at the edge of the woods. You climbed out of the car and stumbled, feeling your heart race. You leaned against the car as Anne rushed to your side.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
You nodded. “It’s just… the crash was around here.”
“We’ll get Eddie. Go and stop Riot,” Venom said, covering Anne’s body.
“You can’t tell me what to do, loser,” Scream playfully jabbed, also covering your body. Venom humphed, then jumped into the trees. “Let’s go.”
“Was there a thing between you two?” You asked.
“Shut up.”
-
Riot was already putting his plan into motion, having Carlton head straight to the control center of the space station. You rushed down the corridor, the sound of your shoes bouncing off the massive tunnel walls. Normally, you would have started bogging out at the speed you were going, but with the help of Scream and your determination of reaching Carlton pushed you forward with a renewed energy.
“Carlton!” you shouted after him.
He turned around, his eyes widened. “(Y/n), you shouldn’t be here,” he said, a hand shooting out to steady you as you caught up to him, panting.
“Please don’t do this, Carlton,” you pleaded, cupping your hands on his cheeks.
“I don’t know what you mea-” he staggered back, a rusty colored symbiote taking over his body and hulked over you.
“Scream! Get Venom and get on that ship!” The symbiote commanded.
You could feel Scream snap, allowing her to take over as well. “No! We are not letting you do this to the humans!” She spat.
“We? Who is we? Tell me their names so I can punish you all for betraying us!” Scream stood her ground. “Scream, always so disobedient and undisciplined. There was a time where we used to share the same thoughts. Now look how sentimental you’ve gotten. You need to know your place!” He raised a giant fist and swung straight towards you and Scream until he froze, growling in frustration as he stumbled back.
“What’s happening?” You asked Scream.
“I think… Carlton is trying to fight him off,” She said softly.
Riot morphed back into Carlton, who looked disoriented and ragged. He exhaled a long shaky breath, then turned to you as Scream retreated back into your body.
“(Y/n), please. I… I don’t want to hurt you,” he said.
“It’s already hurting me seeing you like this,” you said, lifting a hand to touch his arm.
He flinched away. “I need to do this. I have to do this. I… I…”
He pulled at his hair in frustration, a habit that his staff had never associated him with. He was always cool and composed until he snapped. When nothing was going as planned, when people were being incompetent, when he started to have self doubts. That was the Carlton you knew he tried to suppress. After years of being looked down on, being silenced, for his ideas to be called foolish and crazy, it was more than the planet dying for him to lose faith in humanity.
“Do you want to do this?” you challenged. “At some point, have you ever thought that maybe you’ve gone too far?”
“Even if I have, (Y/n), it’s too late to go back. It’s like you said. You were always right and I was always stubborn, but it’s too late.” He sniffed and looked away. “You were going to marry a Frankenstein.”
“Man, how ignorant art thou in thy pride for wisdom,” you recalled from the book. “You were obsessed with this project, Car. It’s killing you… Everything has an ultimate, even horror. In our story, I still don’t know who or what it is.”
Carlton fully turned his back towards you and cleared his throat. “You need to go, (Y/n). Please. I can’t do this anymore. What we had was over, but you knew that and yet you tried. We both know I don’t deserve you, and that is the last time I’ll ever admit that I was wrong. From here on out, everything is set and absolute in my decisions. I don’t need you anymore.”
He began to walk away before he could hear you cry, almost in foolish denial of him being the reason that you cried and break your heart. All he wanted was to make you happy. That can no longer happen and the both of you had to accept that in that moment. He was gone to you.
“I don’t think I can do this,” you whispered shakily to Scream. “He’s really gone, but I can’t…”
Scream remained surprisingly silent as you stood in the middle of the tunnel, watching him leave.
It felt like forever, but you’ve snapped out of your daze as alarms went off. You looked around as people started to evacuate the building. You jumped into action, helping them out of the building through the fastest route, using Scream to punch through the walls that would only slow them down to go around. They had a moment of fear as they saw you, but proceeded to evacuate. Down the hall, you could see Anne rushing towards you.
“Eddie’s fighting Riot right now!” she said quickly. “We need to do something.”
“Need a lift?” you asked, letting Scream surface.
The two of you picked up Anne with a large hand and launched yourself forward towards the control center. You set her down and morphed back into your normal state, observing the destruction that Riot had done. Anne rushed over to the comm panel and fiddled with the controls. You walked next to her and turned on the speakers, knowing what she was doing.
“Brace yourself,” Anne said, nodding to the back of the room.
You did so, covering your ears, then nodded to her. She amplified the volume of the outside speakers, the screeching noise also reaching you and Scream as the both of you doubled over in pain. You felt like you were being ripped apart on all sides.
“Told you I could fight dirty,” Anne muttered to herself as she turned the speakers off. She rushed to your side and helped you up. “You okay?”
You nodded, holding your head in your hands. “You okay, Scream?”
“I’ve been better,” She said. “But we need to get out there. Eddie and Venom are in trouble.”
You nodded then turned to Anne. “Dr. Skirth should be at the lab. Go there and make sure that this facility or anyone makes this mistake again. Shut it down and destroy this place.”
“Okay, be careful.”
-
Scream had taken over, jumping down to the platform, seeing Venom lying in a pile. You extended a hand out, allowing him to crawl on you as you helped get to Eddie. He lied unconscious as a large blade that looked to be from Riot ran through his stomach. You knelt down and touched his shoulder gently, Venom crawling out to bond with Eddie again. Once it was done, Eddie gasped for breath, pulling the large blade out. Venom and Scream jumped onto the rocket as Riot climbed in. You cursed, urging Scream to pull Carlton out of him once you realized what Venom planned to do. Scream rammed a hand through the glass and grabbed Riot, hanging on as he struggled. Suddenly, half of his face peeled off, revealing Carlton underneath.
“Leave me,” was all he said before Riot took over again, pushing you and Scream off of the rocket as Venom ran the blade through the metal, letting the rocket fuel spill out.
“Nooo!!” Riot screamed as the rocket launched, the fuel catching on to the flames below and causing the rocket to explode.
It all happened in slow motion as both you and Eddie plummeted to the ocean, your respective symbiotes using themselves as parachutes to slow the fall.
“Goodbye, Carlton.”

A/N: It’s pretty long and I was worried it’d be too long, but I remembered I’ve read a 10k word fanfic before, so this should be nothing. Please leave a comment, share, like, etc.

Venom 2 thoughts (spoilers)
Dedicating this to my friend J, very sad you moved and I hope sometime in the future we can both rewatch this together
Not up on the comics despite saying I should read them 3 years ago when the movie first came out. Plz let me know which ones I should read
expected screamer especially for post credits scene, i didn’t know who shriek was until reading up on the movie afterwards
I wish Shriek hadn’t died. I hope fandom does more with her, similar to Dr. Dora Skirth, female character killed off when they confront the antagonist for going too far
Woody Harrelson really knocked it out of the park with hitting the right tone for Cletus Cassidy. I honestly didn’t realize it was the same actor who I had seen in other films like Zombieland. Cletus just had that much of a different vibe
Shocked the movie is pg-13 despite the violence and cursing
Friend pointed out that Venom always responds half a second quicker than people do, so that’s how he knew what was up with Ms Chen, for me I had my suspicions confirmed when Venom used the word “Pussy” since he’s the only one using that word
Friend described it as “characters interacting with each-other and the plot isn’t more than to get them there” and that’s a reason I love the movie, I really enjoy character arc narratives
I have my reservations about Venom being in a MCU movie, I like that Sony  allows Tom Hardy a lot of creative control, more probably than MCU blockbuster formula.
The extra 20 minutes of runtime compared to Venom 1 really made this movie better. As a friend put it “Venom 1 is missing a middle act”, in this one characters and plots have time to breathe
We got to see Tom Hardy’s Eddie in nicer clothes, but glad he just felt grungy still. That’s probably my view of how living in that messy apartment would be hell
Looking forward to seeing gifsets of Eddie crying on the motorbike and Venom almost crying when rescuing Anne. (it definitely looked like the eyes were tearing up in both scenes)
I’m pretty sure the Restaurant where Anne announces her engagement is the same one she and Eddie have their date at in the first movie
I definitely want to read other people's thoughts on that restaurant scene, trying to figure out how much Venom actually want to get with Anne as a person or Eddie just wants the normality that he had when he was dating Anne is something that’s going to take me another viewing to figure out
Anne really is a good friend, especially handling Eddie’s first reaction of immediately comparing it to the ring he gave her (dick move) like you could tell she was hurt but she immediately had his back when things got serious
Carnage, just what good visual design. Really good cinematography for all these cgi monster vs cgi monster fight
Really despite all the death and the fact there a manhunt, the movie treats it as Eddie & Venom get to go somewhere that Venom deeply wanted to go, and work on their relationship. It’s a really upbeat note
One of my favorite scenes was Venom solving the visual clues,  using Eddies hands to highlight what was important in the drawings
Funniest line was Venom going “fuck this guy” and just killing Cletus
The Anne and Dan stuff was all really cute, Dan really is so brave
I'm just wondering how Carlton “symbiotes are the better species” Drake would have reacted to Cletus/Carmage if he had survived. If for whatever reason Riot was still around how he would handle Carnage being a red symbiote any differently than Venom.
I’m glad they didn’t woobify Eddie or Venom, there is conflict in the relationship that they have to work on, both of them are assholes to each other and outside people.

Eddie Brock - Venom; Muse Info
Tumblr media
Full Name; Edward Charles-Allen Brock & Venom Nickname; Eddie Face Claim; Tom Hardy Gender; Male/Agender Pronouns; He/Him, They/Them Marital Status; Married to each other Sexuality; Pansexual/Polyamorous  Age; 36 Date Of Birth; Unknown Occupation; Investigative Reporter Residence; California, San Francisco  Species; Human & Symbiote Family; None Verses; None Biography/Timelines; Eddie Brock was an investigative reporter living in San Francisco, and dating lawyer Anne Weying. Eddie used Anne's connections working for the law firm representing the Life Foundation to get an interview with the company's CEO, Carlton Drake. However, Eddie also took information from Anne's confidential emails and directed questions to Drake about the Life Foundation's more unethical practices. The stunt got both Eddie and Anne fired from their respective jobs, and ended their relationship. Six months later, Eddie was approached by Dr. Dora Skirth from the Life Foundation who had become concerned about Drake's experiments with alien symbiotes that he was bonding to the city's homeless. Skirth wanted to expose Drake, and convinced Eddie to assist her by breaking into the Life Foundation and obtaining evidence of Drake's crimes. During the break in, Eddie found a local homeless woman named Maria, who he knew, as part of the experiments. As he tried to rescue her, the alien symbiote transferred itself from Maria to Eddie, killing the woman in the process. Eddie managed to escape the Life Foundation. Eddie soon began experiencing strange symptoms relating to the symbiote possession. Eddie eventually reached out to Anne for help, and her new boyfriend, Dr. Dan Lewis examined him and discovered the symbiote's aversion to sound. Meanwhile, Eddie had been targeted by Carlton Drake since he was now in possession of the sole remaining living symbiote from the Life Foundation experiments. Mercenaries attempted to kidnap Eddie, causing the symbiote to take over and transform him into a monstrous creature. Eddie's new abilities allowed him to repel the attackers. Taking shelter at a lighthouse, Eddie learned that the symbiote is sentient and named Venom. It persuaded Eddie to form an alliance of sorts; while Eddie would have the power and abilities that Venom can provide, Venom would experience life through Eddie. Eddie agreed and began to use his newfound abilities, breaking into his previous workplace to submit evidence about Drake's crimes. Once again, Eddie was attacked by mercenaries and managed to escape. However, Eddie's power was not without cost - the symbiote was slowly rotting his internal organs. Eddie used an MRI machine to separate from Venom, but was kidnapped by Drake's men. Now powerless, Eddie learned that Drake had bonded with the Riot symbiote and planned to launch a craft into space to bring more of the symbiotes to Earth to assimilate the human race. Anne Weying, having bonded with Venom, arrived to rescue Eddie just as he was about to be executed. Eddie reclaimed the Venom symbiote and fought Drake and Riot, finally killing them in an exploding spacecraft. Venom seemingly sacrificed himself in order to save Eddie. Sometime after, Eddie and Venom - who survived - secretly work to protect the city while Eddie returned to journalism and rebuilt his friendship with Anne. Visiting San Quentin Prison, Eddie prepared to interview the serial killer Cletus Kasady.

I just rewatched Venom (2018) and thought about something. After finding out that Dr. Skirth betrayed him, Carlton Drake locks her in a room with a symbiote planning to kill her. But what would he have done if she had connected with it and it didn't kill her? That was before he got Riot, so if she had lived and his plan had backfired she probably could've eaten him and stopped Riot's whole plan to find and use Drake.

BIOGRAPHY
Eddie is a journalist, formerly with his own TV slot ‘The Eddie Brock Report’. He lives and works in San Francisco, the same location as The Life Foundation. Being stubborn and intent on exposing wrongdoing by any of those in power, Eddie discovered that The Life Foundation were running dangerous human trials and confronted their CEO, Carlton Drake, even though he was warned not to, subsequently losing his job.
Six months later, Dr Dora Skirth got in touch with Eddie, sharing her concerns regarding the project: trying to fuse alien life forms with humans in order for them to survive on Earth. The Life Foundation were kidnapping and duping homeless people with nowhere else to go into taking part in these trials, but one by one they each died, failing to pair with the symbiotes Drake had acquired. Two of these creatures also died, exposed to Earth’s atmosphere for too long.
After sneaking into the lab to get information, Eddie was accidentally exposed to the symbiote known as Venom, who helped him escape and began speaking to him inside his head. When unpaired, Venom is nothing more than a sentient black substance, unable to take his true form without a successfully bonded host. Eddie and Venom were able to stop Drake from reaching out to Venom’s original home planet and bringing down a hostile takeover.
Venom, when bonded with Eddie, is a tall and exceedingly strong creature. His form is fluid, meaning he can reach out to great distances and alter his shape as required. He is able to jump to incredible heights and climb buildings, and is often v e r y hungry. Eddie makes it clear to Venom that if he wants to stay on Earth, he can only eat ‘bad people’, if any. However, Venom has since acquired a taste for chocolate and tater tots and quite likes Earth.
While Venom is in control, Eddie is impervious to harm. He is bulletproof and can easily repair Eddie’s flesh and organs when damaged. His only weaknesses are fire or sonic sound, anything between 4000 and 6000 hertz.
Super strength. Invulnerability and healing power. Fluid fighting style ie, can shift form and shape). Photographic memory.

Venom Living in San Francisco after being chased out of NYC, Eddie and his fiancee are split apart after he goes after the wrong guy. But he’s never been one to avoid telling the truth to the public. Then he gets infected by an alien parasite while trying to dig deeper.

And they need to settle their differences.

Chapter One
Chapter two Chapter three
“Married?” I squeaked. My eyes grazed over the words on the card a hundred times without retaining any of the information. I momentarily forgot how to even read. I solely relied on the words coming out of Andy’s mouth.
“Yes, uh, married.” He awkwardly cleared his throat. “Dani and I are getting married over the summer.” Andy said. I was still staring at that damn card. The awkward silence filled the air, suffocating the three of us, but I didn’t care. I was holding my ex-fiancé’s wedding invitation in my hand for Christ’s sake.
“Married.” I repeated, like an idiot.
“You said that already, dumbass.” Venom chimed in, telepathically. I kicked the bench we were sitting on to quiet her down.
“Yes. Mare-weed.” He mimicked my New York accent just a little. I had trouble pronouncing my r’s. They often sounded like w’s. Andy never failed to point out how I sounded like a baby. I playfully elbowed him.
“Give me a break, it’s a lot to take in.” I said softly.
“I know. That’s why I wanted to tell you in person. I figured it would be better than you randomly getting the card in the mail and finding out that way.” Andy explained.
“Our hero.” Venom snarled. I pinched my leg to send her the message to be quiet.
“Yea. Yea no I’m glad you told me.” I said. My eyes finally processed something on the card.
“You’re getting married on August 10?” I asked, finally tearing my eyes away from that damn invitation and looking at him. He looked good. His curly brown hair was cut shorter than usual and he had on one of his signature suits.
“Bright and early. I chose that day because-“
“Because it’s your parents anniversary. I know.” I cut him off. I looked down and my hands. “We were gonna get married that day too.” I said timidly. I wasn’t gonna say it, but how could I not? He and I were engaged too once. I could feel Andy’s face heat up.
“Y/N, I totally forgot. I never would’ve, I mean, I didn’t erm I didn’t want-“ he stumbled over his words. I held up a hand to silence him.
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it. We were engaged and now we’re not. Besides, I’m really happy for you and Dani. She really helped me get back in my feet when Venom and I first bonded. I like her. And if you want to marry her on that day, then go ahead.” I said, and I meant it. I did like Dani. I’d like her more if she wasnt dating the love of my life, but hey, nobody’s perfect.
“You’re lying. We want him back. He looks so juicy and delicious.” Venom said. I choked on my saliva for a moment. Andy was quick to pat my back.
“You alright?” He asked. I nodded and made a mental note to have a domestic conversation about boundaries with Venom when we got home.
“I’m fine. And anyways, I’ve uh, I’ve moved on.” I blurted, like a total freaking dumbass.
“What? No we haven’t?” Venom said
“You have?” Andy asked. He seemed taken aback.
“No! We love you!” Venom cried. I was just greatful she was only speaking in my head.
“Yep. I’m in a deeply committed and loving relationship.” I said. It wasn’t a total lie. I was technically in a relationship with Venom, though be it a host parasite kinda deal. And I did deeply love her. I avoided eye contact and began to tug on a curl.
“What’s he like?” Andy asked. He seemed pissed off all the sudden. I pretended not to notice his change in mood.
“She, actually. She’s great. She’s uh…tall. Super super tall.” I said. It was true. Venom was 7’6. Andy nodded so I continued.
“She’s black, like yourself, and she’s got this big, beautiful smile.” I could feel myself cringing internally.
“You think my smile is beautiful?” Venom said sheepishly. I rolled my eyes.
“And she just always has my back. She’s my ride or die, you know? If I didn’t have her, I’d be dead. Literally.” I finished. And I would. If Venom and I ever got separated, we would both die. Andy was looking off into the distance. He sucked his teeth before nodding again. All he ever did was nod.
“That’s nice.” He said. His tone didn’t sound like he thought it was nice.
“I’d literally die.” I repeated.
“I get it.” He deadpanned.
“Like, I’d freaking perish.” I said.
“Alright.” He held up his hands and I stopped. Venom giggled in my head. I giggled back quietly.
“So, do you think you can come?” He asked.
Of course I could come. What the hell else would I be doing? But I was just getting back on my feet. I was at rock bottom before I found Venom. Well, before we found each other. That was nearly a year ago. That night came back in flashes every now and then.
I stared at a string of pictures of Andy and I at a fair. We went in the photoboth and immortalized our love in a series of goofy pictures. At least, I thought we did. Each picture showed us how we once were. Happy, youthful, and in love. Kisses on cheeks and arms around necks that had been long forgotten. I stared at the pictures until tears filled my eyes. He left me six months ago and it hurt like a bitch everyday. I tore my eyes away from the photos and they landed on a framed picture of me and my sister, Mary. My beautiful sister. I picked up the picture and smiled at it fondly. We were wearing matching shirts that said “Mary the Monster”. I had suggested “Mighty Mary” but she liked monster better.
“Why would you call yourself a monster? Monsters are scary and evil.” I teased.
“Exactly. I’m gonna scare the cancer out of my body. And who says all monsters are evil? They’re not. In fact, all monsters are human. At least they used to me. And I’m human too.” She answered. I smiled at her admiringly.
“Are you sure? You look a bit more like an alien to me.” I said, rubbing her bald head.
“Who else can look this good bald? A monster, that’s who?” Mary beamed. “Now, are you sure you want to go through with this?” She asked, turning on the razor.
“Yes. If my sisters bald, I’m bald.” I looked at my self in the mirror and nodded fiercely. Her face lit up with pride and she began to shave my head.
That was three years ago. Two years ago, she lost her fight to cancer. She died when I was 16. She was only 21. Twenty freaking one. Just three months shy of her 22nd birthday.
I remember calling her after looking at our picture. I’d call her every now and then, when I needed to hear her voicemail.
“Hey Mary. It’s Y/N. I’m sure you’re busy kicking ass in heaven and that’s why you didn’t pick up. You know, you could always come back down here and kick ass. Heaven is way overrated. I hear you don’t even have cable. I’m uh, I’m in a tough place right now. I really miss you. Every damn day. It…it should’ve been me. Dad always said it and, and I think he was right” a steady flow of tears fell down my cheek. “Anyway. I might be seeing you real soon. I love you. Goodnight” I hung up and dialed my dad.
“Hm hello?” He grunted on the third ring. I might’ve woken him up.
“Hey dad. It’s me.” I said sheepishly. We didn’t really talk since I moved to San Francisco.
“Mary? Is that you?” He asked. He was drunk, no doubt. His words were slurred and he slow.
“No, dad. It’s your other daughter. It’s Y/N.” I said. “I just…I was wondering if I could come home. I know I moved out here to work and be with Andy, but Andy and I actually broke and I uh, I lost my job dad. I’m kinda at a low point and I just want to go home.” I confessed. I waited for his answer. All I heard was silence, then a low, gravely laugh.
“Home? You think this is home? Your sister dies and you leave me here all alone and think it’s home? You think I want you here after what you’ve done? After you killed your mother and let your sister die?” He asked. He wasn’t yelling. He was genuinely asking. It didn’t stop it from hurting though.
“I didn’t kill mom. Thousands of women die in childbirth every year. We’ve talked about this a hundred times. Please just…just let me come home dad. I really need to get out of here.” I said. Hot tears fell down my face. I didn’t want to go to him, but I had nowhere else to go.
“I don’t want you around here. I never wanted you, period. Your sister was my golden girl. Your mother and I were so happy to have her.” He sounded sober for a moment, thinking of those happy memories. “And then you came along. And you killed your mother. My wife. My beautiful wife, gone, just like that. Leaving me with a screaming, crying baby. No. You can’t come home. This isn’t your home. Don’t call again.” And he hung up. I knew I was at my lowest point. I knew that was it. I saw my bottle of anti-depressants out of the content of my eye. I went over to the bottle and toyed with it in my hands. I lost my job, relationship, and family. I lost everything. What was the point of living to see tomorrow when tomorrow had nothing for me? I poured the pills into my hand and swallowed them. I drank some water and went to bed.
And then I woke up.
I woke up the next day. It hadn’t worked. It only left me feeling emptier and more miserable than before. I picked up my phone and went to call Mary again when I saw Dr. Dora Skirth’s number. On a whim, I dialed it. That night, Venom and I met, and I had found a reason to live to tomorrow.
“Y/N?” Andy asked. I snapped out of it.
“Oh right sorry. Um…” I mulled it over. Losing Andy nearly killed me. I was happy for him, I really was. But I wasn’t ready to attend his wedding. That was gonna be us. We were gonna be married on August 10th. It should’ve been me picking out a dress and bouquet and cake with him. He and I should be handing out wedding invitations. He shouldn’t be giving one to me. Of course I wanted to be at his wedding. But I wanted to be the bride.
“Actually, I cant. The Daily Bugle called me and offered me a job in New York. They want me to cover a story on some serial killer. I was gonna move there part time until the story is done. I’m leaving in a few weeks.” I blurted. Actual word vomit. It was partly true. The Daily Bugle did want to to write the story. But I had no moving plans nor was I the type of organized person who could make moving plans in a few mere weeks.
“Oh really? Wow.” Andy said. I couldn’t read his emotion. Disappointment and excitement seemed to be the forerunners but I couldn’t tell.
“Yea. I just finalized everything this morning.” More lies. I better call them the hell back. Andy nodded. My heart felt a twinge of guilt.
“But hey, maybe I’ll finish early and make it back in time for your big day. I mean, it’s only April. I have lots of time. How many people could this guy possible kill until August?” I joked. Andy didn’t laugh. He never really got my sense of humor. He did smile however.
“That’s great Y/N. I really hope you can make it. And congratulations. On everything. The girlfriend, the job. Things are really turning around for you.” He said. We smiled sincerely at each other before saying our goodbyes and going our separate ways.
I entered my apartment and slid down the door.
“Holy shit. I’m such a liar.” I said. I covered my face with my hands. Venom manifested herself and looked at me.
“You’re not a liar if we move to New York and start dating.” She said. I laughed.
“You have a point. In that case, will you be my girlfriend, Miss Venom?” I asked sarcastically. Venom smiled.
“You’re not really my type, but I’m willing to settle.” Venom answered. I laughed again.
“Then let’s make moving plans, baby. We’re going to New York.”

Venom Review (SPOILERS!!):
Tumblr media
So I got the Venom movie, and I watched it again after watching it the first time when I rented it. I love this movie very much, but it has a few flaws here and there. Let’s talk about every Tumblr monster lover’s favorite antihero, Venom! Well... maybe not every monster lover’s favorite antihero, but I digress!
Plot:
After losing his job and his fiancée, Eddie’s life was starting to spiral out of control, until he bonds with the Venom Symbiote. Meanwhile, Carlton Drake is up to no good in the Life Foundation.
Story:
The beginning of the story was a nice touch, with a rocket crashing into space and an introduction to the Klyntar. Then we see Eddie Brock with Anne Weying. Eddie has a big hunch about Carlton Drake. When he was interviewing Carlton, Eddie tried to get answers to Carlton’s rockets crashing and experiments going wrong without tests and picking random people to test out said experiments. Due to his stubborn nature and Carlton avoiding Eddie’s question, Eddie loses his job and Anne breaks up with him after she also loses her job. We then get a glimpse of Carlton getting containers that had the Symbiotes in them and he watches them in awe.
Six months later, Eddie has no job, and has become bitter. Meanwhile, Carlton Drake shows that he is unstable and brings in a random person who was living on the streets to bond with one of the Symbiotes he’s received. With no testing. Dora Skirth used to believe in Carlton, but after seeing how unsympathetic and unstable he is, the first person she runs to is Eddie. Eddie hates the Life Foundation and wants nothing to do with Carlton Drake anymore and told Dr. Skirth that she has to provide evidence. Eddie then goes to Anne’s new place and runs into her and her new boyfriend, Dr. Dan Lewis and she tells him that he messed up his own life. After looking back at his life before it went crashing down, Eddie contacts Skirth and tells Eddie not to touch anything. Eddie then sees one of the homeless people he was friends with trapped in a cell and he breaks her out of the prison, only to be attacked and accidentally bond with you know who. Carlton sends his SWAT team to find one of his stolen Symbiotes. Eddie starts showing signs of sickness after he tries to talk to Anne about Carlton’s true intentions and best fictional boyfriend of all time Dr. Dan Lewis takes Eddie in as his patient and tells him to take it easy after the MRI. After the MRI, The SWAT team ambushes Eddie and the Symbiote he accidentally bonded to takes out all of the SWAT members and it leads to an awesome motorcycle chase scene which ends in Eddie’s legs becoming very broken, which Venom repairs. Then he eats one of the SWAT members’ heads and he and Eddie make a deal which has Eddie cooperating with Venom. Meanwhile, Dan calls Anne about Eddie and tells her that Eddie’s condition is very odd and tells her to bring him back to the hospital.
Eddie goes back to the building where he used to work and Anne calls him and Eddie tells her that it’s not a good time and to stay away from him. Venom takes Eddie to an alternate route since they couldn’t take the front door. Venom views San Francisco at the very top of the building and says that it would be a shame to see it get destroyed after seeing how beautiful the city is. Venom helps Eddie give his former boss evidence of Carlton being shady and they are surrounded by armed security in the building. Venom takes out all of the security guards and nearly eats one of them and Anne is horrified by the sight of Venom and tells Eddie that he needs to go to the hospital immediately, showing that even though he cost her her previous job and moved on, she still cares about his health and well being. Venom tells Eddie to apologize to Anne, because he probably won’t live to get the chance. Eddie gives her a heartfelt apology for everything he’s done to her and tells her that he loves her before he’s back in Dan’s office. Dan and Anne try to help Eddie, and Venom and Eddie get separated in the process after it’s revealed that Venom was nibbling away at one of Eddie’s organs. Eddie is captured by the SWAT members sent by Carlton, who is now possessing the Riot Symbiote. It looks like Eddie is about to be killed until, She-Venom shows up and in the form of a kiss, Venom bonds with Eddie again. Eddie and Venom team up again to take down Carlton and Riot, who are about to board a rocket.
After Riot viciously murders half of Carlton’s scientists, Riot goes up to the rocket and is stopped by Venom. During the fight, Anne gets to the Life Foundation and sees Riot dominating Venom in their fight. She worries about Eddie and while Riot is halfway up the rocket, Anne increases the hertz of the speakers outside to incapacitate Riot, which does result in Venom and Eddie splitting up temporarily for the third time in the same movie. Eddie punches Carlton and it looks like he’s taken him out, until Riot impales him with one of his blades. Riot gets into the rocket and it looks like Eddie might die, but Venom bonds to him on time to save him and uses the blade Riot left behind to destroy the rocket, resulting in an explosion, which will kill Carlton and Riot, considering that a Klyntar’s weakness is also fire. Venom sacrifices himself to save Eddie from dying.
One last time skip later, Eddie and Anne are on good terms but not together. Eddie has a job again as a journalist and he’s going to have the story on Carlton Drake. Big surprise, Venom is alive and well and Eddie is still his host. Eddie tells Venom to only eat bad people, and he can tell him the difference between a good person and a bad person, such as the guy that always threatens Mrs. Chen and steals her money and some booze. Eddie tells Venom that’s a bad guy and he eats his first bad guy after he and Eddie say “We are Venom”.
The mid-credits scene shows Eddie interviewing a mentally unstable serial killer named Cletus Cassidy, who says that “there will be Carnage”. Heavily hinting that yes, there is going to be a Venom 2 movie, focusing on Carnage.
Characters:
I loved all of the characters, but I had mixed feelings on the villain, Carlton Drake. I won’t say too much about minor characters like Maria, Mrs. Chen, or anyone who doesn’t have a big role in the story.
First off, we got Eddie Brock and Venom. Eddie is a stubborn journalist who loses his job for having a hunch about Carlton, resulting in Anne breaking up with him before they could even get married. After losing his job, he became bitter and tried to look for a new job, but failed many times. He has shown to be a stubborn jerk at times, but he has a heart of gold. He gave $20 to Maria instead of the $5 she asked for, he showed visible sympathy for Mrs. Chen when she was being threatened at gun point to give a criminal money and booze, and he gave Anne a genuine apology six months after he cost her her job. One of my favorite Eddie Brock scenes is when he encounters Maria in the Life Foundation and he broke the glass prison just to free her only to accidentally meet and bond with Venom. Speaking of Venom, Venom is a Symbiote who’s curious about Earth and relates to Eddie. In Venom’s own words, he is a loser, like Eddie back on his planet. He was originally going to take over Earth alongside the other Klyntar, but changed his mind because one, I he likes Eddie (I ship it), and two, he finds Earth interesting. Well, specifically San Francisco. I also love how he cares about Anne to the point where he tells her that she’s not gonna fight dirty against Carlton and Riot. I hope that the director of Venom 2 further develops their characters when they are up against Carnage.
Anne Weying is the former love interest of Eddie Brock. They started off engaged with them talking about marriage, until Eddie messes up and Anne breaks up with him. She moves on with Dan Lewis, who’s a doctor. Even though she’s not engaged to Eddie anymore, she still cares about his health and well being. She doesn’t show hostility towards him when he’s in her presence, and she doesn’t run away when she sees Venom bonded with Eddie. I mean, when she first saw Venom turn back into Eddie, her reaction was, “You need to go to the hospital, right away!” Again, this is a person, who Eddie had a rough breakup with, and she lost her job because of him, and she still cares about him. Also, when she says that she fights dirty, she means it. She used one of the speakers to incapacitate Riot for a bit and before that, she was willing to help Eddie and Venom. If she shows up again in Venom 2, she shouldn’t revert back to being Eddie’s love interest. I think they’re fine with Anne being with Dan, and Eddie being okay with Anne and Dan being together.
Speaking of Dan Lewis, when I first saw this movie, I was expecting Dan to be a complete jerk towards Eddie and be very possessive of Anne. Thankfully, Dan wasn’t the typical new jerk boyfriend you see in some romantic stories. He is a nice guy! First, he left Anne and Eddie alone to talk when he met Eddie, then he took Eddie, who just ruined their date as his patient because he saw something wrong with him, he called Anne about Eddie because he was concerned about his health and the best part? He never suspected Anne of making a move towards Eddie. Even though he wasn’t in the movie that much, I really liked his character and I liked how much he cared about Anne and Eddie. Which is why I don’t want to see Anne get back together with Eddie.
Dr. Dora Skirth, a mother of three and a former Carlton Drake follower. She worked in the Life Foundation because she wanted to cure various forms of cancer, which is a great goal. After seeing Carlton use untested experiments on random people who were living in the streets, Skirth knew that Eddie was right about Carlton all along and went to him. She gave him her Life Foundation card just in case he changes his mind. Unfortunately, she doesn’t last long, because she’s exposed for betraying Carlton and is forced to reveal who she brought with her to the Life Foundation before being taken over by a Symbiote. Even worse, her three kids are going to grow up without a mom. Press F in the notes for Dr. Skirth!
The SWAT team as a whole is Carlton’s figurative dragon going after Eddie and Venom. They actually do a good job posing as a threat to Eddie and Venom and all it takes is Venom biting a few of the SWAT team’s heads off to completely take them out.
And now, onto the villain, Carlton Drake and I’ll also talk about Riot. I’m going to get Carlton out of the way first and then talk about Riot, because in all honesty, Carlton was an okay villain. He doesn’t hold a candle to Marvel Movie villains like Vulture or Mysterio. I say he’s an okay villain because his goals are different from Riot’s. Riot wants to conquer Earth for his fellow Symbiote followers to live on and eat a lot of people. What does Carlton Drake want? He wants to improve the human race because humans are driving the earth to the brink of extinction or something like that. So basically, Carlton wants to improve the human race by randomly bonding them with Symbiotes despite the Symbiotes obviously not getting the best hosts to survive, while Riot wants to take over Earth with other Symbiote followers and feast on whatever they want. How is that going to improve the human race again, Carlton?
Overall?:
This movie was good, with the biggest flaw being Carlton’s goal, which contradicts Riot’s goal, the Symbiote he bonded with. The pacing was decent, and the time skips were used sparingly. The main characters, Eddie and Venom are pretty likable, same thing with Dan Lewis. I loved how the movie subverted things such as the new boyfriend Dan is actually a nice guy and doesn’t treat Eddie like garbage. Anne was a decent character as well, and I like seeing her with Dan because I think she has good romantic chemistry with him compared to her and Eddie before they broke up.
The chemistry between Eddie and Venom was great. Their banter right before the credits roll was nice. I hope that their relationship is developed some more in the second movie. I’m also hoping that the other Symbiotes get involved in the second movie, or a third movie, if the second movie is a success.
As for the lore behind the Klyntar, it did a decent job explaining them in a simple way. Thank goodness they changed the way “Symbiote” was being pronounced in the movie. Before Eddie bonded to Venom, we see a yellow Symbiote, who I’m assuming is Scream bonding to a white bunny, showcasing that Symbiotes can bond with any creature other than humans. The film also uses the “Show Not Tell” method of showing the Symbiotes’ weaknesses, which are sonic vibrations and fire/explosions. Symbiotes can choose to eat their host from the inside after using them as a suit or keep them if the host is strong or suitable for their tastes. The film also used the scientists to explain how the Symbiotes function after bonding to a host as well. The lore was either explained via text scientists giving information to Carlton to “Show Not Tell”. I love learning about the lore of the Symbiotes here since I’m a Marvel fan who’s an outsider because I haven’t read the comics and I didn’t know too much about the Klyntar species at the time.
The one thing I somewhat disliked about the Venom movie is Carlton Drake’s motivation, which is better than him having no motivation at all. Tell me if you think this make sense: having a higher life form, like the Symbiotes imported to Earth to “improve” humanity. Riot also wants to bring the Symbiotes to Earth for more food resources and another place to live, and he’s got a better motive than Carlton. Remember that Symbiotes eat humans either from the inside after bonding to them, or just biting off parts of the human body. How will a species of cannibalistic aliens improve humanity, again? What saves Carlton from being my least favorite villain is how he presents his lack of empathy when someone is killed, he is obviously unstable, and he plays dirty before and after bonding with Riot. Just look at what happened to Eddie. I also like his bond with Riot, because they have quite a bit in common.
Here’s another flaw that doesn’t bother me too much, but this film did give me a few questions. What happens to the Life Foundation now that the CEO is dead? What happened to the scientists, security guards and any other Life Foundation employees? Where are they now? What happens with the rest of the Symbiotes afterwards? These are the many questions I had, but I think a couple of them will be answered!
The film also subverted a couple of tropes we’re all too familiar with, such as the new boyfriend, who’s actually nice, ala Dan Lewis and an Interrupted Villain Monologue. I thank Eddie for kicking Dan off the edge before he could start monologing. Deadpool also did something like that to someone in his own movie. Speaking of which, I think I’ll review that movie in the future!
Finally, the mid credits scene with Kletus Cassidy, and forgive me if I spelled his last name incorrectly, was also good, but it was a bit short. The deleted scene where he talked about scooping someone’s eye out and eating it heavily implies that he’s eaten people. I think he and Carnage will have an amazing first date! It got me excited for Venom 2. I’m just hoping that the inclusion of Spider-Man doesn’t ruin it.
I give this Venom movie a 4/5! I highly recommend it to anyone who’s a Venom fan, anyone who loves Sci-Fi, and anyone who loves superhero films.

Being a novice journalist and working as Eddie’s rookie would include;;
** GENDER NEUTRAL UWU **
You both met through Lewis. Obviously.
You were applying for a job, but considering Lewis knew you from one of the cases he took on back in his reporter days at your college, you didn’t need to do much- just hand him your portfolio and be on your way
It wasn’t that simple.
Eddie, in all his glorious self, was sprawled on the office chair, feet propped on his boss’ desk, when you went in
Lewis introduced you to your new mentor-slash-partner, and immediately you recognized him
Squeaking fan noises ensued (“Oh my god you’re internet famous” “I can’t believe I’m meeting you right now, holy shit” “You took down like five corporate companies through your reporting,, dude you’re a legend”)
Not long after the ten minute rant about the few pieces Eddie had done on food market conspiracies, you were both oh-so-generously gifted a case where three people had gone missing.
Being investigative reporters, (self-proclaimed but still) the two of you decided to go do some digging
You both stayed up all night at the office, neck deep in takeout and case files
It continued like this for a few weeks
You and Eddie became friends pretty quickly
In the mornings, you were in charge of fuel- you got coffee. Black with three sugars for Eddie, double double for you. Eddie was in charge of sustenance, namely from the doughnut shop he lived extremely close to.
You despised his motorcycle, only because it wasn’t necessarily a two-seater and you were a little extremely paranoid that you’d tumble off the back and be left behind
Nonetheless, that bike was kinda sexy, you weren’t gonna lie
aNYWAYS,
You refused to be in the shots for his actual videos. A few times he insisted and you awkwardly sat there, pen and pad in hand, staring into the lens like a deer in headlights
All the same, it was a literal honour to work alongside him
Conspiracists and skeptics adored him
Not that you were one of them, really, you just thought he was badass
That is, until the incident with Carlton Drake
“I don’t understand why we have to pretend like he’s a good guy, Y/N.” “Because we want to keep our jobs.” “But people deserve to know! He’s taking people off the street and killing them. You can’t tell me to act like he’s doing good things for this country.” “Eat your McMuffin and be quiet, I’m not arguing over this.”
You tried your best to convince him to shut up about the missing persons cases that seemed to be linked with Carlton, but Eddie Brock is NOT a quitter and of course, that led to the both of you being dragged out of the Life Foundation
Which also led to you both losing your jobs.
He didn’t understand exactly why you had to be let off, cause you kept your mouth shut the entire interview
“They didn’t even do anything! Why the fuck are they getting let go? Lewis, c’mon. I understand kicking me off the crew but Y/L/N doesn’t deserve to be dragged down cause of me.” “Eddie, they’re guilty by association. Carlton wants everyone involved laid off. I can’t control that.”
Of course, you mocked him for being such a humanitarian for standing up for you, but you felt terrible about it after seeing Anne give back her ring
The two of you drifted apart.
You’d gotten a new job at a TV newscast place, as an assistant/intern
It wasn’t much, but it paid the rent.
Oddly enough, you ran into Eddie a few months later in Mrs. Chen’s store. It was the closest convenience store to your apartment, but you’d never seen Eddie around there before.
(It was definitely not awkward up in this bitch)
“Hey, Eddie.” “Uh, hey Y/N.” You’d looked at your feet before meeting his eyes once again. “How are you?” You’d asked, with a lot of sympathy, and a touch of pity. He didn’t look like he was doing well, but hey- everyone hits rock bottom, right? “Fine. Fine, yeah- Just searching for another place to work right now, but I’m getting by.”
Your heart was stuck in your throat. Nostalgia was what you were feeling.
Slowly, you two started talking again
Late night movie marathons (that you told yourself were entirely platonic and not at all stay-at-home dates) were your favourite loneliness cures
When Dr. Skirth hit him the fuck up, guess who was there to talk him into trying to do good and check it out
Cause if she was lying, and there was literally nothing there, what could it hurt? Carlton already made his job go bye-bye and his fiancee too so there’s not much left to take from him
Thanks to you, he literally just went for it
Its was like 4AM when he did
Fuckin hell?? That man does NOT sleep
When it was a decent time for a human being to actually be awake, you called Eddie to see how it went but you were surprised to see the line busy
(At that point he was at home calling Skirth but uh)
He usually prioritized your calls so you decided to go and check things out
Bad idea.
The door was slightly ajar, and it was a fucking meSS
“Eddie?” You’d called. He was passed out in the tub.
You tried to shake him awake but he was knocked the fuck out and refused to open his eyes
Whatever the hell happened there, you refused to mess with it
You swept up a bit of the tater tot fiasco but you were about to be late for work so you bolted
The next day you were called up by Anne
How the raging frick she got your number was an absolute mystery to you
Although she could’ve just called your workplace and squeezed it out of the secretary. Anne is a fucking dominatrix, she can get anything if she demands hard enough
“Y/N?” “That’s me.” “You and Eddie are close, right?” “I guess so?” “Can you come down to the hospital, please?”
You flipped your shit
What kind of trouble did that man get himself into this time
He didn’t, in fact, get himself into anything but the MRI machine, which he proceeded to violently convulse in under your panicked stare
“Get him out of there. DID YOU HEAR ME? I SAID OUT, NOW.”
The whole parasite thing scared the shit out of you but making a big deal of it would probably put Eddie under even more stress.
You took him home
And he just flopped on the couch and stayed there
Fast forward to the point where he goes AGAIN to the damn hospital, but instead of Anne being Venom’s prey, it’s you.
Which means the kiss was weirder than it should’ve been but hey,
You enjoyed it more than you’d cared to admit
Luckily after the incident, when Eddie got hired back to do the show, you got hired back too
Which meant you were once again the person behind the camera, and Eddie was the one in front, living his best life
uwu feel free to add on more in the comments

After receiving the call from Eddie you immediately called Dora, letting her know of his decision. He’d told you to meet him at his place and you would go from there.
You hopped out of bed and threw on a pair of leggings, black, a long sleeved t-shirt, again, black, and your shoes, wow, even more black. If you were being honest with yourself, adrenaline was starting to coarse through you and you liked it. This scandalous, technical, breaking and entering past hours with intentions to make Carlton Drake crash and burn was thrilling.
You pulled your phone out of your jacket pocket and sent Dora the address to Eddie’s apartment before heading there yourself. You’d only lived a few blocks down but BOY the difference in neighborhood those blocks made. Your apartment was decent, cozy cottage-like feeling to it and the outside wasn’t too shabby either. It was in a pretty good neighborhood with relatively happy people. You knew most of your neighbors and weren’t afraid to speak to them when you saw them in the halls.
You walked the distance from your place to Eddie’s letting the cold of the wind settle into your bones by the time you got there. Your teeth clattered against each other and the loose strands of your hair flailed and slapped against your face. You turned your back towards the wind and hugged yourself for additional warmth. It’d been significantly warmer earlier in the day when you’d asked Eddie for help but now, hours later, the temperature must have dropped almost twenty degrees.
You checked your surroundings before pulling out your phone and dialing Dora’s number again.
“Hey, are you almost here?” you asked once she’d picked up.
“I’m still sneaking out of the house, I’ll try to be there as soon as possible,” she responded.
You told her it was fine and hung up then kept your hands tucked in your pockets, trying to avoid exposing them to the freezing wind. You lightly bounced in your spot, moving just enough to hopefully produce more warmth and fight off the cold making its way to the core of your being. Your arms stiffened and your body tightened once the tips of your fingers began to go numb.
Would it be awkward to wait for Dr. Skirth in Eddie’s apartment? Would he even invite you in if you asked? You didn’t think he was a bad guy but you would gladly freeze to death before facing the awkward tension of strangers conversing for the first time.
So you stayed put in your spot right outside his doorway. Hoping, more like praying, that Dr. Skirth would show up any second and offer you the warmth of her car.
But when you could barley move your fingers due to their stiffness, you tapped out. Your heels dug into your shoes as you rushed over to the door and looked for Eddie’s apartment number before pressing it with the backside of your wrist.
“Hello?” You heard a gruffy voice speak after the buzz sounded.
“Mr. Brock?” You asked but didn’t wait for confirmation, “It’s (Y/N), Dr. Skirth’s running a little late and I didn’t bring a car so I was wondering if I could.. um... come up for a second?”
You stood there, in the cold, waiting for him to make up his mind and after a few seconds, the front door buzzed open and you grabbed the handle through your jacket and slung the door open. The first thing this shabby looking place offered you was mediocre warmth, and you were gladly taking it in. The tips of your nose, ears and fingers ached with pain as they regained feeling and you ignored it as much as you could as you ascended the elevator up to Eddie’s apartment.
The ding of the elevator and the sound of the doors sliding to reveal a dimly lit hallway made your heart catch in your throat. Why? You weren’t sure but taking those first few steps out and reading the numbers on the doors made your stomach drop the closer you became.
You were almost at the end of the hallway when a door practically flew off its hinges and a girl, half dressed, like, literally she was still putting some of her clothes on, walked out. A man with what you could only describe as a beer belly and shaggy, somewhat majestic hair slapped her ass as she exited.
You stepped to the side as she practically crawled past you and stuck as close to the opposing wall as you could. You kept your gaze glued on the floor, already knowing that Eddie’s apartment was across this guy’s own and slithered towards his door.
Please don’t talk to me, please don’t talk to me, please don’t talk to me.
“You’re new,” the shaggy-haired man hiccupped.
   Fuck.
You nodded your head softly and peered up, “Just visiting,”
The drunk man scoffed a bit, “I didn’t know he had any friends, let alone a piece of ass like you,”
Your eyes widened and your knuckles almost punched against the door with Eddie’s apartment number on it, letting him know you had arrived.
“Y’know,” he started, his breath vomit-inducing even with the few feet between you and his voice obnoxiously loud enough to make dogs down the street howl, “if he doesn’t get the job done you can head on over here and I’ll finish you for him,”
You gulped and spun around, no longer wanting your exposed side to be facing this asshole. Now, if it hadn’t been for the fact that you thought, in his ridiculously drunken state, that he might actually harm you, you wouldn’t chewed this guy out left and right. You probably would’ve thrown in a few fuck off’s and shrimp dick every now and then but this dude was getting closer to you and you were already as plastered to Eddie’s door as you could get.
You opened your mouth to respond when the solid frame of the door gave way and you tumbled backwards. Luckily, you made contact with another solid frame before you could fall on your ass. His chest was firm against your back and his hand holding your waist to keep you in place was supportive. But overall, he was warm and you couldn’t help but slink towards its source.
You almost fluttered your eyes closed at the comfort the man behind you provided but the tension between the two neighbors kept you alert. Eddie’s hand slithered away from your waist and gripped onto your elbow, his breath blew a few strands of hair into your face but how warm it was against your ear and cheek caused you to accept it instead of fight it.
“You okay?” He whispered to you and you could swear you felt his lips graze your ear.
You nodded slowly, pressing against him a little more just to create some distance between you and the drunken asshole. “Fine,” you responded.
Eddie slowly took a step back and you almost whimpered when the warmth of his chest was no longer available for you, “Get inside,” he huffed and once you entered his apartment, he shut the door behind the two of you.
“What a douche,” he whispered under his breath before eyeing you up and down, “Sorry about him, he doesn’t usually cause me too many problems but he’s never been a problem for guests.” He brought his hand up to scratch the back of his neck and with a meager smile muttered, “Probably because you’re the first,”
You put on a weak smile and nodded, “It’s okay, that’s probably the last time I’m gonna see that asshole,” (It’s not), “so hopefully no more situations like that,” (There will be).
Eddie lightly chuckled and motioned you towards a seat at the island, “Sit, please.” He pulled out a chair for you to sit on and stood on the opposite side of the island.
You trudged towards the seat and took your place before peering up at him. He seemed skittish, his hands rubbing together and his gaze everywhere except you.
Aannnddd here’s the awkward silence that you were previously dreading.
“So, it’s cold,” Eddie chirped up, seeing your nose and how red it still was.
“As hell,” you responded then cocked your head to the side a bit, “which doesn’t make very much sense but you get what I mean,”
He chuckled weakly but nodded all the same.
“So,” you spoke up after a few more seconds of tension, “what made you give us a call?”
His skittish behavior stopped and he stared down at the countertop, almost lost in a thought, “I had to check something first,”
“And what did you have to check?” You asked, noticing his hesitation to continue but prying anyway.
“I had to check with an old friend of mine.” he scoffed, “She was just reminding me that I had nothing left to lose,” the words dripped out of his mouth with a weight that you felt as though you had to hold.
“I’m sorry,” you looked down at his folded hands on the countertop.
“Nah, it’s fine. I had to make sure that chapter of my life was closed anyway, I wanted to see if I was ready for the next one,” his fingertips twitched and you looked up at him, noticing how he was watching you before awkwardly focusing back on his hands.
“I mean about what Carlton did to you,” you said, “About what we’re doing to you,” you trailed off.
“Let’s get one thing straight,” his voice grew exponentially in volume, “no one’s forcing me to do this. This is what I do. I investigate. I call people out and report on wrongdoings. It’s who I am. I’m doing this because . . .”
You sat there, eyebrows raised and waiting for him to continue.
“Because this is where the next chapter is taking me,” he finally finished.
“So are you?” You asked, catching his attention.
   “Am I what?”
“Are you ready for the next chapter?” you unzipped the thin jacket and shimmied out of it once you felt warm enough.
Eddie stood up straight and just watched you. Watched as you slipped your arm out of each sleeve and tucked your hair behind your ear to get it out of the way, “Yeah,” he said, a soft smile on his face as he held his hand out to take the coat from you and hang it up, “I am,”
He hung your coat up by the door and turned back towards you, “Now let’s talk about this Mr. Brock thing,”
-
Dr. Skirth called your cell phone about twenty minutes later. She was pulled up in front of the apartment and asking where you were.
“We’re heading downstairs now.” You motioned towards Eddie, who had a stern talking with you about calling him Eddie and not Mr. Brock, and grabbed your coat off the rack.
“We?” You heard Dr. Skirth ask incredulously over the phone.
You broke out a false smile, as if she could see it, not wanting to repeat yourself because if you had it would sound like a big deal and it wasn’t. “Yes,” you drawled out.
“(Y/N),” Dr. Skirth teased, making kissy noises over the phone as if we weren’t about to potentially die over letting Eddie into the Life Foundation.
“We’ll see you down there,” you quickly said and hung up the phone.
   “She’s outside?” Eddie asked.
You nodded and walked over to the door, opening it slowly and hoping that one dude wasn’t there still. After checking if the coast was clear, you headed towards the elevator and waited ‘til Eddie locked everything up. He entered with you and you left the warm confines of the building momentarily to replace it with the warmth in Dora’s car.
Once in, you greeted Dora and she greeted Eddie, explaining that the plan was a simple ‘in and out’. Get Eddie in, let him take photos and then get him the fuck out without being caught, for all our sakes.
You nodded in unison and put your seatbelt on before looking over at Dora and wondering why she hadn’t pulled away yet.
   “We?” she mouthed.
You rolled your eyes jokingly, “Shut up,” you mouthed back.
-
A few minutes later you were at the security gate of the Life Foundation. You checked in with Dora, giving the security guard your badge passes and without hesitation, he motioned for the two of you to be on your way.
The reality of what you were doing, and its potential consequences, were starting to get the better of you. What if you guys were discovered giving Eddie a front row seat to the inhumane things Drake was doing? You were sure a slap on the wrist wasn’t the worst he would do to you and knowing him, he’d make it slow and painful.
Your stomach dropped and the nerves building up in your jittering frame were hard to ignore. Dora noticed immediately and parked in the nearest spot and turned towards you.
“You don’t have to come,” she whispered, and suddenly threw her door open and hopped out of the car, not waiting for a response from you.
But you knew she was trying to spare you, trying to keep your hands clean of the matter. And by leaving before you could respond, she was attempting to not allow you a choice.
It was only when you’d stayed glued to your seat in fear that Eddie opened your door slowly and bent over a bit, his arms sprawled on the frame of the door.
“What’s going on?” His gruffy but gentle voice spoke.
You almost didn’t hear it, too submerged in your fears of the ‘what ifs’ to get out of your head. “What if we get caught?” You asked under your breath. “I mean, he will kill Dora if he finds out and he won’t hesitate to get rid of me, he’s wanted me gone since I first got here,”
The knot in your throat tightened and physical pain emerged from your chest as tears began to well up in your eyes, “What if he kills me?” you accidentally voiced.
Eddie ducked his head a little so he was in your line of view and you couldn’t ignore him, “Hey.” His hand hesitated to reach for you and he decided against it, “Nothing’s gonna happen to you, I promise.” His body blocked your view from Dr. Skirth, “If you don’t want to come I’m not gonna force you,”
You stifled a sob that would’ve racked your body and shook your head, “I have to.” You attempted to look over Eddie’s frame at Dr. Skirth but failed, “She’s just as scared as I am, she’s only better at hiding it,”
Eddie looked over his shoulder at the doctor and nodded, “She obviously doesn’t want you involved in whatever is about to happen,”
“She doesn’t want to be involved in whatever is about to happen.” You took a shaky breath in and out then shifted in your seat to get out of the car, “But if we don’t do something then no one else will,”
Eddie took a step back and allowed you  to leave then closed the door behind you. You walked past Dr. Skirth, hoping she didn’t notice the redness in your eyes, and scanned the lock with your pass.
   Here we go.
Dr. Skirth explained the reason Carlton was doing the atrocities he was. She told him everything from the mission failure, which Eddie already knew about and lost his job over, to the symbiotes in the lab waiting human trial.
Your heart tightened and your breath hitched when steps echoed throughout the place, obviously getting closer. A security guard was making his rounds. Your eyes widened and you looked up at Dora, noting the fear lingering in her eyes too.
“Go!” She motioned to the two of you, scanning the lock with her key card and pushing you both in the room, “Let me handle this,”
You stumbled back but watched as the doors closed in front of you and took Dora out of your sight. You reached out to the door, almost opening and coming up with the excuse that Dora should’ve waited for you before she left if the security guard were to ask but a tight grip on your arm pulled you back.
“Have some faith in her,” Eddie reassured, “She knows what she’s doing,”
You pried your eyes away from the door and looked at him, “Do we really?”
Eddie’s hard gaze softened as did his grip on your arm. You sighed and walked past him, leading him directly to the ‘experiments’ that were happening and you observed as he took picture after picture.
You twisted around and walked back towards the door to keep a lookout, the hairs on your neck standing straight up as you tried to listen to everything happening around you.
And that’s when it happened, a loud crash emitted from the last place you left Eddie and your heart skipped a beat as it rose into your throat. You hurried over to see what was happening when you heard yelling and shouting.
   They sounded desperate.
“I don’t know how!” You heard Eddie scream.
“Eddie don’t open the door!” You shouted back once he came into view.
“I have to!” he shouted, slamming what looked like a fire distinguisher against the glass panel.
“Eddie!” You ran over to him, trying to reach him before he succeeded, “She’s got the symbiote!”
But it was too late. Eddie smashed the glass to pieces and the woman, Maria, pounced on him like prey. You saw the symbiote enter him and your body went rigid. You weren’t sure how he was going to react to the symbiote, if he was going to be uncontrollable or have some sense. Either way, your biggest fear was him rejecting the symbiote and dying because of it.
You were so engulfed in Eddie’s well being that you hadn’t noticed the sirens and alarms go off. The room flashed red and the intercom stated there was a breach in your section.
   Shit.
“Eddie!” You shouted, grabbing him by his hand and desperately trying to pull him up, “We have to go!”
Eddie took a second to try and piece together what was happening, the puzzled look on his face slowly turned to concern.
“Go!” Eddie shouted, pushing you away from him. “Get out of here! I promised nothing was going to happen to you and I meant it, now go!”
   “B-But-”
“(Y/N), hide NOW!” he shouted at you, jolting you out of your daze and running towards the bathroom by Dr. Skirth’s office.
Just as you managed to shut the door behind you, the sound of another one opening followed by multiple shouting, arose. It didn’t take long before the gunfire started.
You locked the door and crash against the cold tile on the floor, bringing your knees up to your chest at the same time.
   Eddie.
Christ, you couldn’t believe you’d left him out there, he should’ve hid with you. But he knew. He knew that if they didn’t find anyone in this section then they were just going to search until they did. And it was going to look really bad if they found you with him.
A tear trickled down your cheek as you sat in the dark bathroom, waiting until the coast was clear.
   Please be okay.

'm sorry its so long >'w'< (I really hope where i went with this is alright with you!!)

A/N: I figured I’d post this until I can get my Venom smut finished. I hope you all like it! My Venom requests are open! If you would like to be tagged in future works let me know!
Being Carlton Drake’s assistant was never easy. You were kept in the dark about most things in the beginning, while still having to take care of his business at the same time. You had heard many things about his work, a lot of which you guessed to have been true.
You watched the way he had reacted when Eddie brought that stuff up in the interview. You knew whatever was going on behind your back was shady and deplorable. And yet, you stayed by Carlton’s side through it all.
At first you needed the job. Carlton was paying good money for someone who was basically his glorified errand girl, so you stayed. You stuck by his side, not really knowing anything that was going on. And you found out about most of the tests he had been running. But, you still stayed.
You didn’t know why at first, but then you realized... Somewhere along the way, through all of these awful experiments, running to get files, bringing him his morning coffee, you developed these feelings. Ones you weren’t sure you were shaking off anytime soon. You had told yourself time and time again to stop feeling that way, but then his hand would brush yours or his eyes would stay on you a second too long and these hot, horrible feelings would resurface.
It wasn’t love, far from it. You were sure you couldn’t love someone like Carlton, especially once he started the human experimenting. Getting homeless people to sign wavers they couldn’t comprehend for his own gain.
You didn’t love Carlton. You lusted for him.
Every time he entered the room, no matter the amount of people surrounding you, you wanted him to push you against the all and raw you on sight.
The chance of that happening was slim. Carlton was only into his work, not you, his meek assistant, who was just trying to get by. He had more to worry about. He had his horrible experiments to attend to.
“Mr. Drake?” you approached him with his morning coffee.
“Hm?”
“It’s been a while since you’ve eaten something, if you want I can grab you a muffin, or anything, from the cafeteria?”
“No.”
He took the coffee from you, his hand brushing yours ever so lightly. Your face scrunched at his short answer and you pulled your hand back from him.
“You really do worry about me too much.”
“Well, when I see someone not taking care of themselves-”
“I take care of myself, Y/N.”
He had gotten very short with you lately. Ever since Eddie’s interview with him, ever since he started trying to get symbiotes to bond with real live people, he had gotten more focused on his projects.
“Mr. Drake, I’m just trying to help you, that’s what I’m here to do.”
His hand slammed onto the desk and you reeled back. He stood up and looked at you with anger in his eyes.
“I don’t need your help at the moment.”
He had lost a symbiote recently, leaving him angrier than usual. Most of the time he was calm, collected, cool, but very recently cracks started to show; leaving you a little more frazzled than usual. He had never snapped at you before that moment. You weren’t used to be talked to that way by him, leaving you reeling.
Most of the time, when you reminded him to eat, drink water, take care of himself, he would just nod at you, and quietly wave you off to your next errand. But recently he grew more agitated with every gentle reminder.
“Mr. Drake,” you tried to keep yourself together, “if there is anything else you need-”
“I know, call you.”
You turned away from your boss and walked from the room. You trailed down the halls and made your way towards the entrance of the facility. You needed to cool off. You needed a break. You were done.
You weren’t sure what was going to happen to you, you knew too much. But you would worry about that in the morning. Or when someone was sent after you.
Your hands were held behind you as you were escorted through the back of the Life Foundation. You were absolutely terrified of what was about to happen. You were generously told about what had happened to Dr. Skirth, sending chills down your spine.
At least if I’m lucky, I’ll become a huge monster.
You didn’t want to think about being forcefully bonded with some symbiote. The chance of death was high, you had seen first hand what happened to some of the volunteers. You began to pray that Carlton would pity you and just give you your job back.
As you neared the heart of the facility you felt your heart starting to pound in your chest. You were getting closer and closer to your possible demise and nothing could prepare you for anything that was about to happen.
You were pushed through a doorway and you stumbled inside, falling as the person holding you released your arms. You pushed yourself up to your knees and looked upwards, through your lashes.
“You can leave now,” Carlton looked at the people who dragged you in.
You you were frozen in your spot, down on your knees looking at Carlton with pleading eyes. Carlton stared down at you, his hands clasped together in front of him and his head cocked to the side.
“I was beginning to worry they wouldn’t find you.”
“Mr. Drake,” your voice cracked as you tried to cover for yourself, “I promise I didn’t tell a soul. I, I just needed a break-”
“A break?”
“Um,” you clenched your eyes shut for a moment, gathering your thoughts, “I was tired of you getting snappy with me. I wasn’t being treated properly.”
Carlton stepped towards you and squatted down to your level. He gave you a concerned look, he didn’t look upset at all, but you could feel his anger. You swallowed hard, your mouth going dry.
“Stand up,” Carlton stuck out his hand and you hesitantly grabbed it. He gently pulled you up, standing with you.
“I can’t just let you get away with leaving like that,” Carlton kept a level voice, but something was off. You could tell something about him had changed.
“What do you plan on doing?”
Carlton gave you a soft smile and stepped closer to you. His hand cupped your face and his eyes were boring into yours. You felt your heart stop once his warm hand met your cool cheek.
“I’m not sure yet,” Carlton’s fingers gently ran down your cheek and to your jaw, “the only thing I’m certain of right now is that I need your assistance.”
You blinked up at him. He was so close to you, his hand still on your skin. You wanted nothing more than for him to take you right then and there. You tried to remind yourself of everything he had done, but his soft brown eyes held you captive. You could only think about everything he could possibly do to you in the best ways.
“You were gone for a whole week, Y/N.” Carlton’s hand fell from your face, “I didn’t realize how much I needed you until then.”
Oh, he just wants me back as an assistant.
“How much I craved you.”
Your mouth fell open and your stared at Carlton wide eyed. He stepped forward, causing you to take a step back. Your back pressed to the door behind you and you took a deep breath. Carlton had cornered you.
“Do tell me you feel the same way, Y/N.”
His voice was dangerously quiet. You could only nod at him, causing his brows to furrow. He pursed his lips and gave you a quizzical look. He was waiting for you to be verbal about your feelings.
“Yes,” Your voice was low and breathy, but you managed to speak, “I absolutely feel the same.”
Carlton smiled at you, bringing his face only inches from yours. He stared at you a moment, keeping you backed in your corner.
“Now, what are we going to do about your leaving?”
You bit the inside of your lip, swallowing hard, “I think I have a few ideas.”
Carlton pressed his lips to yours feverishly, his hand moving to your hip. You kissed back, only for him to quickly pull away.
“Please, do share your thoughts.”
