Writer director Doug McGrath on the set of Nicholas Nickleby (2002) with Tom Courtenay, Charlie Hunnam, Kevin McKidd, Barry Humphries, and Alan Cumming.
Doug was born Feb 28, 1958 in Midland, Texas, and had eight director credits from Emma (1996) to 2016. His entry among my best 1001 movies is his next film, Infamous, with Toby Jones as Truman Capote. As a writer, Doug had 11 entries, from 13 episodes of Saturday Night Live 1980-81 to a 2020 short. His entry among my best 1001 as a writer is Bullets Over Broadway. His other notable writing credits include a 1989 episode of LA Law.

Twilight Zone The Movie (1983)
In today's review, I explore the fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. As I attempt a #positive review, of the 1983, cinematic retelling of Twilight Zone #DanAykroyd #AlbertBrooks #ScatmanCrothers #JohnLithgow #VicMorrow #KathleenQuinlan
The Twilight Zone, a seminal sci-fi anthology, a collection of atomic-era morality plays, has inspired many and in some cases even became a New Year’s tradition of watching complete marathons of the classic series. It is fair to say the ordinal show had a sizeable impact on generations. In 1983, decades after the original series, five recognisable names of the film world, worked on five stories,…

DA Drops Charges Against Seven CUNY Students and Staff Arrested at Pro-Palestinian Occupation
But the Manhattan District Attorney is continuing to pursue felony charges against other demonstrators arrested at the same protest.
All told, 17 people appeared in court Wednesday morning, marking the first time that those with pending charges for their involvement in pro-Palestinian campus demonstrations have had their day in court since their arraignment. Hundreds of people were arrested on at pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses across the city this spring. But while many of the lower-level criminal summonses were tossed last month, as THE CITY reported, 74 demonstrators arrested at City College and Columbia University on April 30 faced more serious misdemeanor and felony charges. Most of those people were handcuffed inside occupied buildings on either campus. Advocates had raised questions about why those arrested at CUNY’s City College had faced felony burglary charges, while those apprehended at Columbia University were facing misdemeanor trespassing ones. Doug Cohen, a spokesperson for Bragg’s office, said the charges were based on available evidence and declining to elaborate.
[...]
Before a packed courtroom of CUNY students and faculty garbed in keffiyehs and knitted Palestinian flag pins, Assistant District Attorney Siobhan D’Angelo asked Judge Kevin McGrath to drop the cases of CUNY staff or students in which they had no specific proof of participation in property damage or attempted injury to responding officers. “The available evidence fails to establish that she personally participated in damaging any of the City College of New York’s property or caused harm to any of the officers present,” D’Angelo said, reading an identical statement for each of the seven cases she sought to have dismissed. “The defendant was also held in custody for more than 24 hours,” D’Angelo added.

@eemcintyre's top 115 favorite movies in alphabetical order
An admittedly random number that includes objectively "well-made" films with artistic merit, objectively considered-to-be-entertaining movies, and possibly questionable ones that I'm sentimental for or just like for whatever mysterious reason (usually a hot guy but not always). This is just what I like and the premier way to get to know me.
