Actually, if I could ask you one question? I'm a little confused by the names in RRR. I get that Bheem used a cover name in the beginning, but then reverted to his real name when he revealed his identity. But Ram appears to be called Raju throughout the entire movie... so, where does the "Ram" come from?

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here, but I just can't figure it out. ^^;

Okay, so Ram's full name in the movie is Alluri Rama Raju. The surname is Alluri by the way. In the post interval scene, when Ram is finally being awarded the rank of Special Officer, you can hear his superior officer announcing, "Officer A. Rama Raju". Also, in one of the flashback scenes, Ram's father calls him "Rama." Sita calls him "Ram" too in the flashback scenes. "Raju" seems to be the preferred name of his Babai in the present day.

Also, while the Netflix subtitles often (wrongly!) sub it like Bheem is calling him "Raju", Bheem never actually calls Ram by his name except on maybe two occasions and in both those occasions, he calls him "Ram", never Raju. As Akhtar, Bheem calls him "bhaiyya", the Hindi word for brother and once he has revealed his identity, he addresses him as "anna", the Telugu word for brother. There is a cultural etiquette to this. Ram is older by a few years than Bheem, so it would be culturally inappropriate for Bheem to call him by his name.

In fact, there is a brilliant moment in the movie. In the romantic wedding night bedroom scene, when Bheem finally decides to voluntarily reveal his identity, he does it not by first revealing his actual name, but by calling Ram "anna." That moment is also when the camera pans so that the mosquito net that was previously covering Bheem's face is no longer hiding it, signifying a "veil lifts" moment and I just fucking love it so much ajjsnsnjajakkqkqkqka

Ignore the subs, that's literally NOT what he says

The actual historical figure is called Alluri Sitarama Raju, but the "Sita" in his name was added later because he wanted to remember his childhood sweetheart who died young (who is obviously alive in this movie. Heh, sad angsty thought of the day, if Ram had failed to save Bheem in the movie, would he have changed his name to Alluri Bheemrama Raju? Think about it and cry yourself to sleep :D)
