Hey kids! The Quiet Desperation Kickstarter goes all the way LIVE on 5/15/23! Again, that's May 15th of this year! This is my biggest campaign yet and I'm hoping to bring in $1,000 or more! To be able to achieve this goal I am going to need the help of everyone I know! I'll be flooding my social media accounts with advertising (incessant pleading) throughout the campaign and I'll need help spreading the word! It would be nice if I could make a few new fans lol. Drawlloween 2024 Day 7!!!! The Fiend Without a Face! I felt that this drawing was a little too easy so I challenged myself to do it in a stippling style....and it was tedious lol. It took forever to finish but I guess it was worth it..... This drawing created using Pigma Micron markers (005, 02, 03, 05, 08), and 100lbs vellum bristol paper. Bonus Halloween drawing! Boris Karloff as the OG Mummy. I watched this for the first time yesterday and I don’t know why but I expected it to be a guy wrapped in bandages stalking people very slowly with outstretched arms. I guess I’ve been overly influenced by the pop culture portrayal of mummies. I liked this movie though, it was better than I expected it to be.

Drawlloween 2024 Day 3! This is Baron Samedi from the movie Sugar Hill (1974)! He was played by Don Pedro Colley. This drawing was created using India ink, a #2 brush, 100 lbs. vellum bristol paper, and Prismacolor colored pencils. Join me mañana for yet another spookily dookily Halloween drawing! Sketch I did today based on a vintage Collegeville Costumes Halloween costume. Man I miss the old days of Halloween trick or treating. A kid could venture out alone in a plastic mask, a pillow case, and a flashlight, and fill that pillow case without a worry of poisoned candy or weirdos. Not that I ever went out alone, I had two brothers and a sister. We would cover miles and fill entire trash bags with treats. And, yes, those plastic masks lasted about an hour before the rubber band that held them on your face would break. Ah, memories.

Sketch I did today. This guy is from the Dover Boys cartoon (Warner Brothers 1942). He’s the best character in the cartoon IMO. This cartoon is now in the public domain. It is a parody of a series of books from the early 20th century called the Rover Boys. It was ahead of its time as it used the limited animation and simplified character design that would become a staple of the modern cartoon or UPA style of the 50’s. It was directed by Chuck Jones.
