Donald Trump is human ChatGPT. He doesn't 'know anything' about the soundbites he repeats. He just has a confidence level in certain statements, and if they relate to other statements. Like ChatGPT, when asked questions he has no confidence answering he will instead try to lead the response towards a higher-confidence string of words. Whether or not that string of words is factual or creates a factual statement connecting to other words isn't important to him. When he lies, it might be more accurate to call what he says 'hallucinations.'

When he repeats that Minneapolis burned down (?) I feel serious human doubt that he is connecting 'did this really happen' or even the topic of 'George Floyd' in his mind. He is just rewarded for spitting out a specific string of words and controlling the context to insert it as often as he can. It's not really a response to a human person. It's like weighting in a language model.

This doesn't absolve him. I'm not saying he doesn't have a brain or isn't deliberately dishonest or isn't responsible for what he says or does. What matters is that the world that created him values this behavior, and sees this behavior as correct. It thinks that is what 'communication' is. If we allow this way to dominate, where the benefit to a success model is the most important thing behind every statement, it will kill us. It will kill us with the same blithe hideousness as google suggesting to put glue in pizza.

I heard. But couldn’t AO3 just move their servers out of the US, and the problem would be solved? They might still ban AO3 in the US, and that would suck for americans, but the rest of the world would be fine. Also, if AO3 is shut down, my guess is other sites would pop up and every writer would move their fics over there, so i don't think we'll ever be in a situation where we won't have access to fics.
