Prepare yourself for entire paragraphs written at 4:30 am of me analysing stuff 😅
Cars (expecially Cars 2) = I joined the fandom back in 2022 and even though being in this fandom has been so far my best worst experience for specific reasons, I'm still interested in it.
In particular the thing I like the most about this franchise is the amazing lore explored by Cars 2 that really showed how big and variegated this universe of talking vehicles can be. They showed us criminal organizations, political and social issues, different locations, the fact that there is a big espionage organization that no one knew about before Mater got involved with them that has been developing advanced technologies to fight crime (including even building cars with rockets XD) and even introduced a new country exclusive to the Cars universe that gives some informations about the geopolitics of the Cars universe.
But what makes it more interesting to me is the fact that the movie doesn't take all of this too seriously in its plot unlike what a movie with so much lore usually does. And this is actually intentional bc the movie is supposed to be a spy comedy and one of the major themes of the movie is the contrast between Finn and Holley, coming from a world where they are built and trained to be killing machines who have to deal with dangerous criminals, and Mater who is just a silly guy that has always lived a peaceful life in a small town. But unfortunately many people fail to see the symbolism in this writing choice by Pixar and just write it off as dumb 😑
What proves that there is an actual theme behind this aspect of the movie being apperantly not so serious is the end credits song Collision of Worlds. In fact, in an interview with Robbie Williams about the song (which was written and sang by him with Brad Paisley) he said that they chose the title "collision of worlds" bc of all the different things happening in the movie that collide with one another, like the movie being both about racing and spies, having a silly protagonist having to deal with serious danger and two trained spies having to deal with him, and so on
And the lyrics of the song is about different aspects of both American and British culture, basically representing that "collision of worlds" that is the relationship between Mater, Finn and Holley throughout the movie
There are other things I could say, but it would take too much space from the other hyperfixations I wanted to talk about 😅
Well, after this analysis of what I love about Cars 2, let's talk about my other hyperfixations:
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal = This is my favourite anime and I believe it's pretty underrated (though recently I've seen it getting more popular at least in the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom).
The main reason why I love this series is pretty much the same for Cars 2: the lore and world building.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS OF ZEXAL AHEAD
Zexal's universe is devided into 3 worlds: the Human World (which is obviously our world and where the protagonist Yuma and his friends come from), Astral World and Barian World (or called simply Barian)
The last two are also referred as "the Parallel Worlds" and they are supposed to be heaven and hell respectively in the Zexal canon, since the anime takes inspiration from Christian lore and things from the Bible to built its own lore
The series mixes some Christian themes with Eastern philosophy. The universe in Zexal is formed by two energies: Light and Chaos, which are two faces of the same medal. The Human World is made of both forces together, while Astral World is pure Light and Barian is pure Chaos. But at some point it is revealed that Astral World and Barian World were once one world and it was made of both Light and Chaos just like the Human world, but the people living there wanted to achieve an higher level of being by rejecting Chaos and living of pure Light, and that rejected Chaos formed Barian. And the main villain of the series (Don Thousand, who is the God of Barian) is basically Satan in the Zexal canon.
But this decision to reject Chaos was actually a bad thing bc the two energies need to be in harmony. This harmony is represented by Zexal itself, which is not just the name of the series, but is also the power that allows Yuma and his partner Astral (a very important being from Astral World) to become as one. Astral represents Light and Yuma represents Chaos. Basically Zexal is the force that transcends the difference between the two energies bc the two accept one another in his body. This sounds a lot like the philosophy of Taoism bc it recognizes the need of two opposite forces to be in harmony and complete one another, while the decision on Astral World to reject Chaos to live of pure Light sounds more like the philosophy of Puritans, which believe that you need to avoid anything that's "sinful" in order to be on the right path.
The particular thing is that this theme can be found in many other aspects of the series that on the surface they don't seem to have anything to do with it. One of these is the duel between Yuma and Tokunosuke in episodes 5 and 6, bc the entire plot of those episodes talks about Astral not being able to comprehend the "Chaos part" of human nature bc or his origin from a world of pure Light and learns about it by observing the way Tokunosuke shows Yuma two different versions of him (one good and one evil) and thus Astral starts to understand how a world made of both Light and Chaos works
My last hyperfixation:
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon = this videogame series has been my favourite since I played Explorers of Sky for the first time when I was 11 (and Explorers of Sky is still my favourite videogame of all time). Every single game has amazing stories that can actually get pretty dark or tackle important themes.
SPOILERS AHEAD
For example, the major theme of Explorers of Sky is the clash of ideologies between Grovyle and Dusknoir: Grovyle, who wants to change history and heal the world from the eternal darkness it has been stuck in since the collapse of Temporal Tower despite knowing that this would lead to his death, and Dusknoir, who fears death and wants to keep history the way it is so that he can keep being alive, but forced to live an eternal empty life.
But Explorers of Sky is the most popular of the series, so many people already understood how deep this game can get, but unfortunately many weren't able to see how deep some of the others are, Gates to Infinity in particular. This game has been criticized for having a "childish plot" and I really don't know how can people call childish a plot that literally talks about themes like depression, mental health and even suicidal thoughts. Basically the majority of the villains in the game were just people who needed therapy to heal past trauma, but instead decided that ending the world and dying with it would be a better choice to solve all their problems, but ofc they realized that there are better ways to solve their problems.
Usually when talking about this theme, the "moral" is that if you suffer you just have to get up and carry on and that's it, which maybe can solve an individual's problem, but not a society one. But this game on the contrary says that in order for things to get better not only the mentality of the individual has to change, but also society has to do its part so that no one has to suffer anymore.
Ok, sorry for the long paragraphs of me lore dumping about my hyperfixations 😅
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk
You know what? Fuck it. Reblog this post gushing about your current hyperfixation. Idc what it is. Strawberries? Talk about how much you love them and what cool stuff you know about them. A TV show or book? Make long paragraphs gushing about it. Idc. Need to see more people talking about their hyoerfixations.

TVR Trident
The third of three prototype TVR Trident Coupés and the only right-hand drive example, the Trident was designed by Trevor Fiore and hand-built in steel on a stretched TVR Griffith 200 chassis by Carrozzeria Fissore of Turin in 1965. It was shown at the Turin Motor Show in November of that year before being sent to TVR Cars where it was dismantled and carefully stored until 1972. Over the next decade or so it passed through the hands of several optimistic restorers before being acquired by its current owner in 1986, at which time a full restoration commenced under the guidance of Sir Stirling Moss’ ex-racing mechanic, Don Haldenby. Don's brief was to return this unique TVR to its original condition, including sourcing a correct Ford 289 V8 with 4-barrel Holley carburettor, Borg Warner T10 gearbox and Salisbury Power-Lok 4HU differential. When the Trident was put together in the late 1980s, the correct TVR suspension was unavailable, so it was fitted with Ford front and Jaguar rear suspension, pleasingly, resulting in better drivability and, as it was a prototype, that was the whole idea.
