I realize I'm running out of time so I'm just going to hit on this really quick: You can find this from time to time in magical girl shows but I absolutely love that this is a setup where you can have some magical girls that are not BFFs. I find that so hard to swallow so much of the time, the idea that you all become besties. I've worked in groups before.

- Glass Joe once ate raw dough and felt his soul physically exit him, he has the bread version of chicken anxiety (?) now (its what happens when you get paranoid after getting salmonella from a chicken and check every piece you eat)

- Aran climbs on stuff for no reason when hes bored and hides in dumb places to grab ankles and spook people

- bald bull actually has his nose pierced, he just doesnt wear it in fights because hes smart and doesnt want to injure his nose

- von kaiser sometimes reads little mac bedtime stories when he struggles to sleep and doc is asleep or doesnt have enough energy to get up,

- Disco kid And king Hippo go partying on weekends, often ending up wrecked

- don flamenco once got caught eating an entire ass head of lettuce while he was staying over at piston hondo's, hondo is still scared

- piston hondo has cried while watching madoka magica multiple times, no matter how many times he rewatches it (no spoilers for you all im kind)

- bear hugger eats raw meat & veggies, he once DEVOURED an entire ass raw steak in front of everyone, food poisoning fears him

- bald bull and macho man have a frenemy thing going on, they beat the shit out of each other, sometimes Macho wins, sometimes bull wins, sometimes they have to run from sandman because hes done with their shit, they'll curse each other out but they will not let anyone else talk shit about each other

- Aran has been caught listening cotton eye joe multiple times and will not admit it, we know what we heard, aran

- great tiger takes advantage of his clones a lot, he has court trials with himself, acts out fake scenarios with himself and has dinner with himself when he feels lonely, his clones personalities of their own along with a lot of sass attitude, he'll ask a clone to bring him snacks and his clone will be like "get off your ass and get it yourself idiot"

- piston hondo & bald bull are good at math and used to tutor Mac until they both got so pissed off at him while trying to help him do his homework and he cried, after he got diagnosed with dyscalculia they felt bad for him and apologized

Quick self introduction: I’m Mickey! I’m a 21 year old art major who’s working towards an animation degree (I graduated from my community college in May 2024 with an associates in fine arts!!). I use any pronouns so call me whatever as long as you’re respectful :)

Drawing is my main hobby/interest, with roleplaying (and writing in general) being something I do on the side. I’ve been roleplaying since middle school, and I like to think I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Fun fact, my current longest-standing roleplay is with someone who is now my partner 😌���

i have watched a LOT of magical girl shit in my day so there's FAR too many cool outfits. Just. give every buff dude a magical girl outfit and we're good. the ones out of madoka magica slap. also valid to give them rem and ram's maid outfits from Re:Zero.

also massive appreciation for every dramatic MF in a longcoat. the bulkier and cooler the better. give them stupid intricate details that make every artist's life a living hell (i'm sorry fam)

and finally, to accessorize, give them a mech. doesn't matter whether zoids or gundam or like, big old cannons out of a magical girl anime. just give them a mech and that completes the outfit.

strawberry: favorite finale episode

listen i hate finales because it's a signal that the story is over and usually my heart is in absolute RUIN. but. i gotta say. i like Keijo!!!'s finale (I think? Honestly I've watched it twice now and still barely remember). it was high stakes (as far as a shitty, oversexualized sports anime) and gave the viewer a really happy sendoff after some wildin shit.

I also guess i liked the end of Mirai Nikki. And as much as I thematically loved the end of Juuni Taisen OW MY HEART.

The idea was Madoka is killed by the blonde girl who Homura hunts down and kills. Then Madoka reincarnates as Iroha and has no memory of her original life so Homura finds her with someone else. Homura chains Iroha down until Yachiyo, in her grief, retaliates. Then Homura goes nuclear and decides if she can't have either Iroha or Madoka, she'll destroy the entire world. In the end, she loses everything, including Iroha, who dies alongside Yachiyo while Homura continues pining for Madoka even in her final moments. In other words, love can save and ruin everything.

1. first anime you ever watched

Naruto. my brother and I encountered it one day while scrolling channels when I was about 6 or 7 I believe; I was fascinated by how different it was from the cartoons and shows I was used to.

2. first anime crush

I wouldn't really say I've ever had a crush on an anime character, but I'm a big fan of maka from soul eater.

3. favorite anime character

I thought about this a lot while making my fav characters list, and it is probably maka again.

4. least favorite anime character

This one's kinda tough, but I think I'll have to go with the main character from Alien Nine, Yuri Otani. I don't necessarily dislike her in terms of personality but I feel like she spends 70% of the show crying which made her very unpleasant to listen to. Alternatively any weirdly horny character could also go here.

5. list all anime you have ever watched

I have currently seen 211 shows so I shall refrain from making this that long. Though, if anyone is truly curious I do have each one listed and organized by my personal rating in a google doc that I can share.

6. popular anime you didn’t like

Made in Abyss. Really cool concept and decent visuals/music, but I often felt worse after watching an episode than I did before, it almost borders on torture p*rn at times.

Either Cowboy Bebop or FMA Brotherhood usually seem to please people who aren't usually into anime.

Houseki no Kuni 100%. I've read through the manga for it and there's so much good content that could be covered.

30. one anime conclusion you would change

I would change up the ending of Carole and Tuesday quite a bit, the scope became too grandiose and ended up feeling pretty lame. Still a good show though, especially the first half.

Kyoko is, within Madoka, my most 'tag yourself" character. I think it's really telling of her personality that even after everything went so horrifically wrong with her wish, she did not, in fact, give in to despair. She did not give up. She's short tempered and flippant, but she is also very resilient.

But the real reason I'm here is not to talk about how I feel about Kyoko, though I have a lot of feelings about Kyoko, it's to talk about this idea that isn't ABSENT in other magical girl works I've experienced, but is not terribly common: The idea that you are no longer human. That you have become something else, now.

I don't know why, other than I suppose that most magical girl shows are for eight year olds and Madoka decidedly is not* for eight year olds, that this is rarely addressed. Even here it's not given a ton of screen time. But yes, you are no longer like other humans. You have become something else entirely, and other humans cannot understand you. The way your body and soul work are entirely different now, and I think you know that, I think you've sensed that all along.

How do you mourn that? Do you? I mean obviously Homura has put every single feeling other than "Save Madoka" into a box, and of course we respect the lesbian grind here, but but it doesn't leave a lot of room for other feelings or emotions, which is the way she likes it! The gift of having a driving force is that you don't have to think about much else, and that allows you to have a useful quality of ruthlessness that Homura is showing here in DROVES.

I think it's interesting that what I would call the uniting force between Kyoko and Homura is a quality to endure. I mean obviously that doesn't work out for Kyoko here, but I would argue that choosing things on her own terms instead of giving into despair is a much stronger character choice, and one I can respect. But neither of them are willing to sit still long enough to let things catch up to them as they did Sayaka.

*man, I would LOVE more adult-tilted magical girl shows. I love the basic concepts behind so many things I would put under 'urban fantasy', which, controversial or not, I consider your average magical girl setup to be urban fantasy, but so many of those things just WILL NOT play it through, either because it's YA or romance or for kids or whatever.

25. Are you an Og or a Go kind of fan?

Go fan all the way!!! I don’t know if it was obvious in my last ask, but since I was introduced to the GO series first, it just kind of became my favorite out of all the series. Og is pretty good too!!! I mean, without it we wouldn’t have Go!

26. Have you played any of the games? If so, what’s your favorite? Least favorite? 

I’ve played Inazuma Eleven 2 Blizzard for 15 minutes! I got it around the same time I started playing Genshin Impact and uhhh yeah... I’m hoping to pick up again once summer hits though!

I really like AU’s that revolve around fantasy or magic!!! So, if it’s okay to @ them... @kuroeko ‘s Afufubu Magic Based fantasy AU is one of my favs ((but honestly I love all of their AU’s)). 30. Have you seen the dub? What’s your opinion on it?

Yup! Since the dub for the OG was available on YouTube I watched it there. As for the Ares dub, I watched it when it aired on Disney XD. Personally I like the dub for just about any series I watch so watching the OG and Ares dub was a-okay with me. Tbh I really want an Orion dub...

31.  Do you like soccer irl? If so, is your interest influenced by Inazuma?

I do although I’ve never played it! My little sister recently started playing on her high school team so when she had a match, I’d go watch her play. And yeah, I think Inazuma influenced my interest in the sport. When I was younger I didn’t like kick ball or soccer because I could never kick the ball unless it was placed right in front of me so whenever our couches would tell us we were gonna play either of those sports, I’d always hide at the end of the line. But after I started watching Inazuma, I found myself wishing I hadn’t tried to avoid the sport irl.

Well. Madoka good, so probably. They wouldn’t be interested in it at first because magical girls aren’t really their thing, but Jean-Pierre wanted to watch it with them and one thing led to another.

I don’t actually know which anime they watch. I know that there’s a lot of shonen, along with other genres, the main one being horror. You’re free to guess which one they have, I personally know too little about anime to care.

Alpha Yuko. “Please, please stop,” she whispered, like saying it aloud would make any difference. But the pressure in her head kept building. Her limbs had begun to itch restlessly.

And Victor wouldn’t let go of her hand.

With the last scrap of her control, she straddled him quickly and kissed him awake.

She remembers that she loves him, that he’s real and here and more important than the beautiful boy on her phone who’s trying to pull her under to a scary new world.

Patrick turned  to look at Chris. “Subspace travel is a bitch,” he said simply, and turned back to his book.

“Oh, I feel much less nervous now,” Chris said with a sardonic grin. “How do you know that, anyway?”

"No. I didn't mind at all." He took my hand, circled his thumb over the back. My breath caught as I felt it, as I watched him looking down at our hands.
