ROSANA! The Origin Story Anthology will explore the beginnings of Rosana’s adventure, which starts when her island receives a visit from a mysterious pilot, the first outsider in decades. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where very few people remain on Earth after the most successful fleet of space colonists left twenty years ago. Their departure was supposed to allow Earth to restore and replenish its ecosystems, but something has gone wrong – and Rosana will soon find out about the space organisation’s nefarious plans for their surviving islands.
Issues #1-4 will introduce us to Rosana, her superpowers, her family and her first encounter with the International Space Organisation - and someone on the inside might hold the key to her origins.
Here's a preview of sticker variants you can get, designed by @shaccharin!

Firecatcher
Tumblr media
Amelia Arya always wanted to be like her father, but she never knew what that entailed. After her adventure with Eran, she through the only crazy things in her life would come from magic belts and mutants. As it would turn out, her father, an archaeologist, held an ancient amulet that contained the spirit of Sekhmet, Goddess of War. With her father unable to continue wielding such power, Ameila has taken upon herself to keep the legacy of Firecatcher aflame.
So this is another character I've been working on for a few years now. Some fun tidbits to know about her, she is an anime and video game fan, shes a junior High School student with Eran Elliot (Werebeast from a previous post), her favorite anime is a show called “Rose Pop Warriors”, and is also a second generation immigrant as her mother fled Iran.
The Sekhmet amulet allows her to minipulate fabric into various weapons and fire attacks. What ever fabric she can get her hands on becomes her ammunition for swinging ribbons, blades, sheilds, healing spells and wrappings, disguises, portals and fire. And in desperate moments, she can access a Sekhmet avatar to help her in a tough fight. Also, she's a sun vampire (or daywalker if you prefer).
A little bit of world building context, it is around the year 2057 when these stories take place.
Hope you like her!

Wanted to quickly shout out Mighty: An Anthology of Disabled Superheroes edited by Emily Gillespie and Jennifer Lee Rossman
Tumblr media
This literally only has 4 goodreads ratings right now which is surprising to me because I had a great time with it. It gave me literally everything I wanted from a collection of superhero stories. And it gets bonus points for being canadian.

NEW STORY: Mirage Manhattan — WxW Superhero Romance
So, I found out about the Kindle Vellys like entirely too late but a challenge never stopped me and I've had this quick novella idea in my head for months. I literally outlined it July 30 and started writing August 1st. Welcome to my crackpot NaNoWriMo, but instead of a month, I have about 3 weeks and I'm expecting it to be about 30k instead of 50 :)
I'm a little stressed.
So, if you want a gay superhero story, this is for you. Imagine MHA style quirks with the Boys media/government system and a Wanda Maximoff/Atom Eve Queer MC. I'm so hype for this and I feel like a lot of other people will be too.
For Kindle Vella, the first 3 episodes are free, I have 2 episodes available right now, so if you'd like to tune in and watch me churn out 8 more episodes in 2 weeks, feel free to follow along! I really want to win this thing and I put myself in the absolute worst situation to do so, but we're here!
If you want to read and follow along, I've put the link below. Thanks for your support! XOXO - Rita BS
Mirage Manhattan
SYPNOSIS: In the year 2105, the world has adapted to the ravages of climate change. Ninety-nine percent of all living creature has developed unique powers to survive in this new reality—except for Samirah Hayes. As a young, newly debuted YA fantasy author, she belongs to the 1 percent of the population who remains unevolved, with no affinity to her name.
Samirah's ordinary life takes a dramatic turn when her brother mysteriously vanishes, and her mother refuses to reveal his whereabouts. Overnight, Samirah discovers she possesses insanely powerful illusionary abilities. With an uncontrollable affinity and a missing brother, she falls under the supervision of Flux, a hero of the Cape Corps, a military branch dedicated to training heroes who respond to global missions.
From a recent graduate author to a fledgling superhero, Samirah’s life undergoes a radical transformation. She must navigate her new powers, the search for her brother, and a developing relationship with her superhero roommate.

I reflexively deleted the asks in question the second I saw them, but @ the person who accuses me of posting ads: If me saying that I liked a series of books and sharing a post about them being on sale because it happens to have crossed my dash is "posting ads" to you, then I genuinely would like to know your opinion about a good chunk of fandom activity. I would also like to know why you have no problem with people geeking out about merch that is from big companies, but me sharing a post of an independent queer author bothers you. Or would you have reacted the same way if the post in question was about a sale of Marvel comics?
For fuck's sake. Let people enjoy things. And if you want superheroes that you don't have to pay for, chase down an omnibus of the Domino Lady's adventures. She's in the Public Domain... 🙄

For those who love the X-Men animated series of the 1990s as well as the comic book adaptation series X-Men Adventures.
Tumblr media
May this post remind you of the time when X-Men was not woke and did not have nonsense like transgender, critical race theory and nonbinary. These were comics made for the fans, not the woke nuts.

Phat Liberation
Tumblr media
As Fat Liberation Month comes to a close, I wanted to celebrate it with a piece that I felt would capture the spirit of love, self-love and body positivity from the perspective of my Minneapolis Superheroes, Kinetic and Puck.
Standing before a wall of graffiti with a few words of affirmation, Kinetic holds Puck in a romantic and intimate moment.
If the concept or pose feels familiar to anyone, that would be because it was heavily inspired by the Miles Morales: Spider-Man Unknown 616 Virgin Variant Spider-Gwen Cover, which is a personal favorite piece of Spider-Man artwork.
Tumblr media
For those who may be curious, I know I've vaguely brought it up before, but I don't think I've ever properly addressed it outright:
The Fat Liberation Movement seeks to dismantle fatphobia, challenge societal norms around body size, and empower individuals of all shapes and sizes to embrace their bodies without shame or discrimination. This piece embodies those ideals, promoting the freedom to live, love, and fight for justice—no matter the size.
This artwork is my final contribution to Fat Liberation Month this year (The other one was the Tennis pic, by the way), emphasizing the importance of body diversity and the power of self-acceptance. I hope it inspires everyone to stand tall, love themselves, and embrace the liberating power of their own bodies.
Never forget that You Matter, and you're beautiful.

i would LOVE it if Nimona won best animated oscar to stick it to Disney but I think Across the Spiderverse will probably win, which I'm not mad about but think it's a shame. I hope it at least gets nominated please.

I love blue beetle and its message and I wish more people had watched it and I understand that the lack of promotion both because of the strikes and because the studios don't give a shit has affected it negatively and the role that racism/xenophobia play in people's disinterest towards the characters in general BUT PLEASE let's also not forget about superhero fatigue

I'm no expert on the LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, but I do know that some of its members (Dream Girl, Brainiac 5, Phantom Girl, XS, etc) have ancestors active in the present day comics continuity.
I don't need the whole Legion to descend from present-day superheroes (although I do have some headcanon for a few), but I'd love to see a superhero ancestor of Dawnstar active in the present.

Author Spotlight: E.A. Noble
I’m E.A. Noble, and I write Queer and Diverse Fantasy for the Culture. I grew up in Mississippi with my great-grandmother, who encouraged me to turn my dreams into reality. Becoming a writer was always what I wanted to do. As a Queer, fat, Black, AuDHD, and disabled woman, it was important to me to write stories that amplify voices like mine. I want it to be normalized that we can be the love…
