Snippet of Lightning Strikes verse

(I am having possibly way too much fun with Lightning being OP. Sometimes I stop and ask myself “is she too OP? Is this how ff13 powers work? Then I remember a few of the spoiler cutscenes I’ve seen, and I may be missing a hecking lot of context but the one thing I do know is that- no. I am not making her too OP. If anything she’s not OP enough but I need to have tension in this story somehow. Anyway here’s Lightning being a bit of a troll to poor Nyx).

     A blade edged with gleaming blue whipped past her cheek and she heard a ringing sound that distantly reminded her of Dissidia, of Noct. Then someone had materialized, wrapping his arms tight around her before she could do more than suppress the urge to stab first and ask questions later —warping meant friendly here, warping meant friendly—, then there was another pull, another chime-.

     The world turned into unreality, like falling through the void between worlds and time, like breathing the air of Valhalla all over again but worse because Lightning couldn’t actually breathe, couldn’t see, couldn’t think.

     The chime filled her every sense and suddenly the world was back, painfully and roughly in the form of the roof of a speeding compact that had a kukri buried up to the hilt in the roof. Flimsy metal protested as two people’s worth of weight clung to the kukri and they slid uncontrollably back and forth along the roof and back window, “Astrals above and pyre below,” hissed a voice by her ear, “and they always said I’m the reckless one.” Lightning and the person clinging to her managed to get their feet under them, clinging to the roof of the car and bracing their feet on the back window as it rushed down the … mostly intact highway. Lightning shook away the lingering sensation of void and looked over at the person who had grabbed her out of the air.

     Somehow, she wasn’t surprised to see Nyx Ulric looking back, his eyes a little wide with adrenaline and fear, but his teeth bared in a wild grin. Lightning felt a smile tug on her lips against her will, “Thanks, but I would have been fine.”

     Nyx glanced out over the city, more specifically at Odin’s massive form galloping over between the skyscrapers to catch up with them, “Yeah, I kinda got that impression from watching. Anyone ever tell you that you’re a one woman army?”

     Lightning huffed in faint amusement, a short, choppy breath of noise, “Once or twice.”

     “Fair. Anyone ever ask you if you’re an actual goddess then?”

     “Are you … the goddess of war?”

     This time, Lightning actually laughed out loud. The expression on Nyx Ulric’s face only made her laugh louder as she adjusted her balance on the roof of the car, turning toward Odin as the Messenger slowly, carefully stretched out his hand, “Yes, actually.”

     “And what did you answer?”

     Lightning didn’t have time to play twenty questions, and she didn’t think he would believe her right now if she told him, so instead she just smirked at him, then leaped across the distance to Odin’s palm in a burst of magic and rose petals without answering.

CRYSTAL BEARER: Adol Rubrum age 19, He/Him. The Red Haired Adventurer. The man tends to keep to himself, though he has a strong sense of right and wrong, and frequently he has this irritating habit of rushing into situations headfirst because of it.  In short, Adol is the kind of man you hate to love, or love to hate, and because of this, can make quick friends or bitter rivals of anyone he meets within minutes.

SUMMONING DURATION: Adol could likely summon Kefka for twenty minutes or longer, but he chooses not to due to the nature of who it is he summons.  The less he has to deal with him the better.

CRYSTAL LOCATION: A ruin known formerly as the Temple of Fiends.

       A base for @ndeavor‘s future Dissidia verse in which the warriors have long since rested from the war, but are able to be summoned from crystals by those who believe their legends were true. Read about it here: its really good.

CRYSTAL BEARER: Romeo - he/him - age 17 - believes in the warriors of light/chaos but staunchly pretends not to because he thinks this makes him less cool. An impulsive, sarcastic smart alec who is 100% ready to fight everyone. SUMMONING DURATION: Varies. He and Kuja clash in personality and don’t work together well, which can affect the duration. CRYSTAL LOCATION: Found displayed in his ( missing ) father’s office. It is unclear as to where it originally came from.

Enter the Balance Point

AGE:  Terra is 20 in this verse.

CRYSTAL BEARER: Shida Nagamine, age 20, She/Her. The optimist. Shida is energetic and keeps an air of optimism around her, so much so that those who know her look to her as a mother figure, and those who do not tend to avoid her infectious nature.  Oftentimes this is but a front, primarily to keep morale up for those around her even when Shida herself is conflicted or fallen to despair.  Despite that, she works hard to prove herself to others that she will never be dead weight.  As one would expect, Shida believes in the forces that are beyond comprehension, and has taken it upon herself to understand those forces.

SUMMONING DURATION: Through rigorous training, Shida can maintain a summoned Terra for an hour during the first summon, and twenty minutes for any subsequent summon within a 24 hour window.

CRYSTAL LOCATION: Once it was speculated the crystal was under the care of the people of Lufaine, or even Cid of the Lufaine himself.  Now it lies hidden from watchful eyes in the ruin of an unnamed village.

ENTER THE LADY SUMMONER

AGE:  Yuna is 20 in this verse !

CRYSTAL BEARER:  Trinity, 15, She/Her. The dreamer. Always with her head in the clouds & nose buried in the books of old, Trinity often finds herself off on her own; the parables of her youth serving as a canvas, she wonders what the world would look like if those myths were, indeed, a reality. Where most of her peers have outgrown these childhood fantasies, Trinity embraces them. She believes with all her heart that the legends are true & thus, sets out in search of them--at least until the sun begins to set; then it’s off to her room to dream some more. At the forefront of her imagination: the tale of the young Lady Yuna & her journey amid Light & Darkness.

SUMMONING DURATION: Though she’s limited at first ( a few minutes at most ) Trinity practices relentlessly, eventually reaching a cap of fifteen minutes each time she summons Yuna. But, ever the optimist, she will continue to strengthen body & mind, just to spend more time in the Lady Summoner’s benevolent presence.

CRYSTAL LOCATION: Her crystal is hidden deep within an ocean-side grotto, with the waves serving as a rather lulling ambiance. Specific conditions have to be met, however, to discover & obtain Yuna’s favor. High tide is never ideal, with the mouth barely visible. However, on the night of a full moon, when the tide is low, those curious enough are permitted to enter; sea water gathers at the base of the crystal, with the moon’s silvery rays illuminating her hibernating existence.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a three-versus-three party battle game where you can enjoy exhilarating, action-based battles while controlling characters from the Final Fantasy series.

The characters, battle arenas, and background music all come from previous Final Fantasy titles, and you’ll battle using the abilities and magic that take advantage of each game’s features.

In addition to a character leveling and ability acquisition growth element, you can also customize each character’s costume and weapons.

Control characters from the Final Fantasy series and fight together in a party-based battle. If called upon, summons appear for a fixed amount of time and can turn the tides of battle.

■ Characters

Warrior of Light (voiced by Toshihiko Seki)

Class: Vanguard

Type: Heavy

An all-rounder balanced in both offense and defense, who has many techniques effective at close- and mid-ranges. In Final Fantasy, he is the “Warrior of Light” chosen by the crystal. He sets off on a journey in order to bring back the crystal’s shine and save the world.

Garland (voiced by Koji Ishii)

Class: Vanguard

Type: Heavy

An armored fighter whose power increases by landing attacks. In Final Fantasy, he was known as a famous knight in the kingdom of Cornelia, but abducted the princess and fled to the Chaos Shrine.

Zidane Tribal (voiced by Romi Park)

Class: Assassin

Type: Speed

A character who specializes in stealing stats and Bravery Points using “Steal” while causing a disturbance on the battlefield. In Final Fantasy IX, he is a member of the theater troupe / group of thieves known as Tantalus. They abduct Princess Garnet and, backing her, get tangled up in what’s going on behind the scenes between countries.

Kuja (voiced by Akira Ishida)

Class: Assassin

Type: Speed

A character that fights using magic, but has high movement speed and specializes in close-range attacks. In Final Fantasy IX, he is a young man of many mysteries who creates a diversion during the Mist Continent war. He tries to bring about chaos throughout the continent.

Y’shtola (voiced by Ai Kayano)

Class: Marksman

Type: Shoot

A character whose magic is almost all equipped with weakening effects, and who specializes in obstructing enemies with a barrage of attacks. In Final Fantasy XIV, she is a woman of the Miqo’te who players meet in La Noscea, where the breeze of the sea rustles. In addition to using advanced magic, she’s versed in magic studies. There are too many mysteries about her for her to be a mere traveler.

■ Battle Types

Each character has a type—Heavy, Speed, Shoot, or Unique—which you should consider when forming your team:

Heavy – Slow movement speed, vast attack range.

Speed – Low attack power, high movement speed, and can perform triple jumps.

Shoot – Specializes in long-distance attacks. Caution is necessary when enemies approach.

Unique – A type that has unique special abilities, such as strengthening and growth.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is due out for PlayStation 4 worldwide in early 2018.

Without further ado, this would be my verse page.

( Heishi; ‘’ϟ'’  – — ) Held in the events of XIII; Lightning is a Guardian corps member, with a promising career, Lightning is secured && content with the status quo. Yet in her birthday a crack forms on the wall she built. With Serah turning l’cie, Lightning then sacrifices all and boards the purge train. Hoping to get her sister back, all her plans ends in shambles as Serah crystallizes, ending with her being branded as a l’cie together with four more individuals. A new dawn approaches.

( Kishi; ‘’♘'’  – — ) Held in the events of XIII-2; Cocoon is saved with Vanille && Fang’s sacrifice. The world hangs in silence as a new threat approaches. With Etro’s blessing, Lightning meets CAIUS BALLAD A man that seeks to end the existence of time, all for the sake of saving a certain priestess. But with this plan he wishes to kill Etro. The very deity that holds the balance of life && death. With her hands, Lightning dons the armor of knight && presides over Etro’s world. Valhalla.

( Kaihosha; ‘’♚’’  – — ) Held in the events of Lightning Returns; Five hundred years into the future, after failing to save Etro, Lightning awakens in her slumber to become Bhunivelze’s savior. Sent forth to liberate the souls into the new world, Lightning has thirteen days to complete her focus. Fails && Serah’s rebirth is loss, Complete it, && everyone would have a second chance to the new world the Maker is creating. Yet in the gracious Light that flows from him, a shadow foretells the Maker isn’t what he seems to be.

( new world; ‘’ ϟ ’’  – — ) A lone traveler slumbers in the train, upon reaching her station, a glorious scenery of flowers && great expanse of sky fills her view. Lightning, no longer baring an armor or sword, free of all her responsibilities. Lightning steps out for her new journey to begin.

( Dissidia; ‘’ ϟ ’’  – — ) ( DISSDIA NT would also be under the same tag )One of the warriors that is summoned by COSMOS. She who presides over order, Lightning enters the fray to end the chains of war that envelops the land.

As I was telling @sanctiichor earlier the only utmost solid thing I have for this world of balance verse is that when the world begins to be threatened again the warriors aren’t capable enough to take on this new evil on their own. In order to defeat it one of the Gods (could be both with your guys’ help we’ll decide/depending on how op we wanna make this evil be awraxa) has to be summoned. And in order for one of them to get summoned, one from Cosmos’ side has to be sacrificed to summon Materia whilst one in Chaos’ side has to be sacrificed to summon Spiritus. 

The characters don’t DIE, but what does happen is that when their crystal shatters they’re permanently unable to return to this new world, that’s it for them because their crystal is gone.

The only SOLID thing I did have is that in Cosmos’ side the sacrifice will be Cloud’s crystal. Why? As I explained to my pal, lets go back to think of OG Dissidia and how Cloud wasn’t at all on board for any of it, he wasn’t warmed up at all about the concept of fighting for all of eternity alongside people he’ll come to care for at the whim of a conflict between deities. That carries on over a bit into NT except that he takes comfort in the company of those he’s grown attached to. Cloud not once did he think the world will get how it got, to get this peace (that of course gets threatened later on), but I just found it sort of poetic in a way. To have him be the one to go, like I said they don’t die, they just won’t be able to come back. 

Of course this is gonna shatter Alva (his crystal bearer) cause through the course of this journey she would have grown attached to him and probably seen him as a big brother.

Dissidia-verse Asha is neither a Warrior of Light or Dark.

They, along with a few others, refer to themself as an Observer from the Void. They have no light or dark in their heart, have all of their memories from their home world, and were given true free will when sent to the battlefield.

They weren't sent to fight really, but observe the shift in balance between light and dark and act accordingly to maintain the balance.

Observers didn't fare well when Chaos and Cosmos were at war and disappeared after the first few cycles because power was too skewed towards darkness.

When Materia and Spiritus take over as the ruling deities, the Void sent its Observers back out to watch over the battlefield once more.

During Opera Omnia events, the Light forces eventually come across Asha by themself. Mog is shocked when it can't sense light or dark in Asha, and Asha openly tells them that they came from the Void and not from either god. Asha offers to join their group as it could be beneficial to both parties, and despite Mog being nervous of the lack of light in Asha lets them join.

Asha immediately recognizes Firion, Maria, and Leon and almost always gravitates towards them, making sure they're all doing alright. They seem to keep an extra watchful eye on Leon, very often checking on his physical and mental condition the most out of anyone.

Chosen Titan / Guardian of Bartz Klauser and his Crystal Bearer Kain Macarthur of the wind element 

Valefor can only maintain physical form if Bartz’ mana is high, Kain has to also use some of his mana or strength to help as he gains some of Valefor’s magic to use but it can prove to be a great toll on his body also so he has to remain careful.
