Me learning the original concept for Wish had Star as a Peter Pan/Genie-esque shapeshifter, he would be Asha's love interest, the king and queen would be a villainous couple, and that sounds a hundred times more interesting than what we actually got:

disney marketing is doing its animated films sooooo dirty. elemental came out father’s day weekend and has a beautiful father/daughter story at the center of it, but you wouldn’t know it from the advertising. elemental could’ve (and SHOULD HAVE) been a slam-dunk, but disney didn’t capitalize on what sets it apart from similar movies. they did the same thing to strange world and they’ll probably do it to wish, even though that is supposed to be their big milestone celebration.

Another thought that's occurred to me is that in the 1st movie, we get to see Sour Bill and King Candy interact. And because of that we see their relationship (even if it's just minor crumbs).

So this got me thinking, we could've got to see his and Vanellope's relationship in the sequel, but no, we didn't get that.

Like King Candy is an adult so they're on the same wavelength, but Vanellope is still a kid.

So it would've been cool to see him adjust to having to serve a kid.

Sure he probably wouldn't know how to respond, but it’d be cool to see him try to stoop down just a bit.

Like for example, when she's sad that her game got unplugged in the godforsaken sequel, it would've been cool to see him stick by and try to comfort her. Like maybe place a hand on her shoulder or something.

Or fan her like he did to King Candy.

Bring it back only maybe Vanellope doesn't like it for him to quickly adjust to it and try something else (like getting her to talk about her feelings in his own way)

And maybe when Vanellope feels better she'll hug him only for him to reluctantly accept it (since he's not used to it).

Like he could've gotten some minor development and actually care for her compared to how he was under serving King Candy.

We could've gotten that but no, Disney said no to development and yes to flaunting everything they own.
